“Don’t Run Away”~ The Heart Behind Inspired Lyrics

Last week, when  “Don’t Run Away” was posted on DavidArchuleta.com , we could finally listen to the lyrics of this song cowritten by David and once again feel the heart of a man inspired to help others. ” I will be right there… I’ll be your voice… I’ll shine a light… ‘Cause somebody cares…..”

Beautiful words with a powerful message. David has always shown us in words, lyrics, and actions that he has a real desire…a calling to be there for others and to let them know that (in certain times) he’s been there, he understands what it’s like, and he wants to help.

Katie (@Kt7) wanted to share something she remembered, an interview where David spoke of similar things. He spoke of going through challenges not knowing at the time that his experiences would one day in turn be useful in helping guiding, and supporting someone else. And in believeing this, he was willing to go through those challenges….because we are all intertwined and connected.  As I listened to this portion of the interview, I also heard the similar message of “Don’t Run Away.”

Thanks so much , Katie, for sharing this interview and correlation~
The interview is from David’s 2010 Manila Press conference. The portion of the interview (cited and quoted) comes shortly after the 13 minute mark of this interesting and “Archuwonderful” interview. Thank you to Jack Ryan for the vid!!

    Morning FOD! Happy Wednesday! 🙂

Thanks for the new post. Love the quote from David’s interview. I’ve felt the same way at times. We don’t always why we’re facing particular challenges but down the road it becomes crystal clear and worth it when we’re able to encourage someone else. That’s how God designed it, designed us.

Have a great day everyone! 🙂

  2. kimk says:

Joanie holy moly what a fabulous post! Naree takes the best pics as well as Cherry!! loved that jailbird outfit he had on that day.. loved that little concert!!

    Gorgeous top pic…..the glow!!!
    More buzz for DRA! Woot!!!
Epic NA and WYA perf at Pyropalooza from a year ago….just perfection!
Well, I’ll do some voting then off to prep some more stuff for the Vegas trip….gotta be a the airport at 11 am today.
Take care and have a great day, everyone!!! See ya all later!!! 😀 🙂

  5. ksf says:

Interesting collab for David’s pal Sara Bareilles with Straight No Chaser. Not my cup of tea but interesting anyway.

  6. ksf says:

Bye sarahhazel. Have a wonderful trip! 🙂

  7. kimk says:

Sarahhazel Las Vegas?! never been but sounds like so much fun!! enjoy!!!

  8. bychance says:

Morning all….it’s a new day!… apologizing for my whininess last night…it had been one of those days, and should have stayed completely away from the computer!lol

ksf and Shanny….from earlier convo about books. Just read Wonder, a fabulous young adult book, and The Power of Habit….also very good. If anyone’s interested, there’s a great bts look (pg. 200 – 209) at how a hit song is “created” and the incredible power of DJ’s…. it is fascinating.

Thanks, Joanie!..was just thinking yesterday about how much I love the tender words “I’ll be your voice.”

    Safe travels, sarahhazel!

  9. Shanny in Australia says:

    Hey Fodders. 🙂
Joanie, wow so much awesome stuff in today’s post. That quote from david is just so poignant isn’t it. Had a few of my own experiences that have taught me the truthfulness of it too. And I 100% agree with David, that we are all so inter-connected. 🙂

    Sarahhazel…have fuuun! 🙂

Kim, thanks for answering my question on the previous thread. It really is such a shame that only US statistics get counted in sales reporting. It’s like the rest of the world doesn’t exist. Well at least david gets his share of the sales proceeds no matter where in the world his music is purchased. And THAT is what will keep him touring and making sweet music.

  10. Shanny in Australia says:

Bychance…hmmm…The power of habit. That is a topic I am pretty interested in at the best of times but speaking of ‘inter-connectedness’ I wonder if you were supposed to share that with me today. All these things keep popping up in my life lately about the power of doing ‘just a little bit every day’. More to my thoughts than that but it’s kind of religious in nature. I will check that book out, thanks! 🙂

Also…were you here when TOSOD was released?
if not…lol…don’t mind the angst, it’s normal. It’ll pass. Well kind of. lol So don’t feel bad about anything. 🙂

Oh and…was that info about DJ’s in that power of habit book?

  11. Shanny in Australia says:

I love that top pic. 🙂

  12. kimk says:

Shanny oh I sure hope so because I don’t live in Utah!!

  13. Jhen says:

    Hello everyone!
Wish David give us a Valentine greeting or Kari give us doughie video, that could be awesome Valentine treat.

  14. kimk says:

    Jhen dougie dougie dougie!!!!!! hopes!!

  15. Jhen says:

Kimk- definetely love the dougie! David can dance!

  16. Jhen says:

    sarah- have a safe trip.

  17. Shanny in Australia says:

I find it hard to angst over david’s career no matter what he does or doesn’t do. I think a huge part of that is because I think he makes his decisions very carefully, with his eyes wide open. And because I want him to just do, be and become whatever it is that he chooses. I guess I trust him to make the best decisions for himself. It sure makes life simpler for me. 🙂

  18. Shanny in Australia says:

lol…neither do I kim, neither do I. Obviously. lol

Oh Valentines would be an awesome time for a dougie video! 🙂
I wonder if Kari has recovered from her glammy time at the grammys with the JT yet?

  19. bychance says:

Shanny…yes, it’s interesting how things appear sometimes just when we need them. (not that this is necessarily that, but I know what you are saying.) If that’s your mindset right now, then I think you would definitely enjoy the power of habits book… yes, the DJ info is in it.

    I wasn’t around for TOSOD….maybe a good thing. 🙂

  20. Shanny in Australia says:

i think most fans are actually fans of david’s VOICE more so than his music. I think people listen to his music so they can experience the voice. Not so much because the music he produces is their favourite kind of music.
And that is why him performing live is so awesome – because it allows the fans to truly experience the voice in all its glory. So maybe instead of producing music albums, maybe he should just put on mini concerts regularly somewhere and people can pay to livestream them or something.
Mostly just joking but maybe in the new era of music and with david’s talent for live performance, there might be something in that…?

  21. Shanny in Australia says:

Bychance, that reminds me of a quote i’ve heard a few times in recent months… ‘When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”
    I like that. 🙂

  22. Jhen says:

Shanny- I like the idea of mini concert, I really like smaller venue so that it will be more intimate with fans , it usually didn’t happened in the Philippines, the smaller venue concert, since the producers of the concert want more earnings, but I like to see it one day that he will have mini concert every now and then in all countries.

  23. Candy says:

The normal profit for the digital download of an artist cd/album is .13 for each DL. David and his team are going to need a boatload of them if he is depending on them for future tours, etc. as this was a single not a cd. Im sure the profit is much, much less.

  24. Jhen says:

Wish David will have an acoustic show when he return from mission.

  25. Shanny in Australia says:

Jhen, I guess they all have their strengths. I have sometimes wondered….when I do get to see david, what kind of concert experience will I pick? Do I want to attend a big concert – like in the Phils where the air is electric with love for the man – or would I prefer a smaller, more intimate venue where the focus is on the music and that voice and not the crazy, fun, chaos. lol
I think both the smaller and larger concerts have their benefits and drawbacks.
It would be wonderful as you say, for fans to have the opportunity to experience both. You never know what might happen with all the changes to the music scene and all the new ways indie companies are learning to do business.

  26. Shanny in Australia says:

It’s crazy how little the artist gets isn’t it Candy! I guess thats why they say touring etc is what brings in the money. And in david’s case – heading to the Phils. 🙂

  27. journey says:

Shanny 9:00, I love what you had to say and agree as well. And yes, there’s absolutely nothing like that voice live–even videos of his live performances aren’t able to fully show the power of it.

  28. bychance says:

Shanny…I have always felt like there is a plan for David’s life, and that whatever is best for him will happen, given he keeps listening to and following that inner voice. Who knows what his future will be? I hope and believe we will continue to hear his wonderful voice, and that many others will, too. I guess we just need to trust that it will all happen as it should. I think we all just love him so much and want for him to be happy and be able to do what he loves to do. As long as he’s happy, then I am….. need to remind myself of that from time to time. I sure can’t wait to hear him live….. in any format! Thanks for your thoughts!

  29. jhen says:

Shanny – I like to see what surprises David and his team instore for the fans. I agree both have their strength bigger and smaller venue.

  30. ksf says:

Shanny @ 9:24 “i think most fans are actually fans of david’s VOICE more so than his music. I think people listen to his music so they can experience the voice. Not so much because the music he produces is their favourite kind of music.”

Yes! Exactly. I know I’ve said something similar in the past and I’ll admit I’m one of those fans. Love the idea of mini concerts. 🙂

  31. jhen says:

Bye for now Fod family. Sleeping time

  32. Shanny in Australia says:

Journey, well considering i’ve only ever heard him live through my budget computer speakers (and my GCT dvd I guess) and THAT sometimes seems too awesome for this mortal body of mine to cope with, I think I prefer to ignore the fact that he will be even better in real life. It’s almost too much to comprehend and leaves me feeling all angsty in an excited kind of way. Probably better for my health to talk the experience down. 😉 🙂

    Bychance – Amen!
It is definitely like you said….everyone loves him. We just have different ways of coping with and approaching the situation. 🙂

  33. ksf says:

bychance – Both of those seem really fascinating, especially the Power of Habit. They’ve been added to The List. 🙂

  34. Ali says:

David’s actually in a better position profit-wise as an independent artist than when he was signed to Jive. Sure, if you’re selling a ton of albums then you can make money on a major label. But if you’re selling lower numbers and signed to a major? Pretty much nada as the label recoups their fees first and in many cases won’t even get all of that. Very large overhead there.

I read in an industry article a while back that average breakeven point for most indie albums is 10,000 copies. With individual songs on iTunes, this article is pretty informative for indie artists: http://www.360digitalartist.com/breaking-even-itunes/

For most any artists now (unless you’re Taylor Swift or Adele selling millions), albums aren’t really money makers. Albums are more like advertising to get people to come buy the real product — the live shows. And the associated VIPs, merch, etc.

That’s one reason why I said that I see the new album and BEGIN as being for the fans and something to keep us connected to David while he’s gone. I doubt that he’s making much money on either but (without knowing the exact overhead costs) I’d say he broke even on BEGIN and likely will on this new album as well. He was giving up the profit maker in this cycle, the live shows. That will have to come when he returns.

Clearly David has found other ways to bring in profit as well, like the acting and endorsement deals. I’m sure that’s what allowed him to be able to afford the two album releases while he’s away and absorb the costs of not performing live for two years.

  35. Candy says:

Shanny-“i think most fans are actually fans of david’s VOICE more so than his music. I think people listen to his music so they can experience the voice. Not so much because the music he produces is their favourite kind of music.”
Your comment best describes my David love affair, its about the voice, period! If I want current music, Adele, Bruno, etc would be my first choice. David has the gift of knowing how to best use his voice to the max when singing…me personally I could careless if he gets radio play..as long as he works in manila, etc we will have tours. “Works For Me”

  36. Grammyj says:

Candy, the $.13 is an estimate for an artist on a major label who did not write the song. David is on an independent label and is one of the song writers so he would make more. Even so I’m sure this was not put out there to fund his future tours. Also he is putting out an album. I think the money he made modeling and acting will help fund his tours. He will probably need to go back to Asia and do more of that type of thing. It’s hard to make money selling music these days.

  37. Candy says:

Ali-Exactly- he has found other ways to bring in profit. While NA was a gift for fans, we would be foolish to think that was the only reason behind his acting in a soap. He needed the money..and more power to him for finding a way to do that. Bench and Fix were the same…Goodies for us too look at…goodies for his pocket. He WILL return to Manila for the very same reasons. 🙂

  38. ksf says:

Ali – thanks for the article and your comment. All this just reinforces the fact that David doesn’t need us to worry and fret and be riddled with anxiety. Lol. It was an extremely well-planned and thought out decision. He’s got it well under control. The best way to “support” him is to simply relax and enjoy what he’s left us! 🙂

  39. Candy says:

grammyj- that .13 is from a full cd not a single…I think a single it is something like.03 And I agree he will have to go back to the PI (much to our delight) to replenish his piggy bank so to speak.
I forgot who it was that broke down the profit from TOSOD but it was less then $7,000 for all the copies sold. Its kinda sad that these days an artist has to have a bag of tricks to make money other then a great voice.

  40. Philly Fan says:

I have always been a fan of David’s voice since Idol and always will be. Given David’s age when he started I expected more current music from him after “Crush”. But as stated before David is an artist and takes his music seriously and I believe that he wants to continue to make music but on his terms. I also think that coming from AI7 David could have been a JB or One Direction relevant and big in the music business if he went the way the PTB wanted him to go but unfortunately he choose another route that caused him the exposure that he should have gotten at that time. Somewhat like what happened to Kelly Clarkson after her diss with C. Davis. Based on her career now I bet they are not at odds anymore. It took her awhile to come back. Had he taken the PTB route he could have written his own ticket once he became big (selling/moneywise). If David finds his sound and becomes more comfortable in his own skin I do believe that he can become revleant again with the right people behind him. He needs good writers/producers/mgmt to redfine him from his time on Idol. David has proven with the music he left us with that he can indeed sing anything but should accept what makes him shine vocally to be noticed again. I always felt that David’s voice is so suitable for R&B Jazzy type of songs and I hope he would do more in that genre. I will alway buy and support him because of his talent not because how relevent he should be but hopefully one day he will be again to sustain a music career. JMHO

  41. bychance says:

ksf…oh, The List….would love to compare them… mine’s pretty long, as I imagine your is!

Ali… I so appreciate the info you always bring here. I always learn something new from you….thanks!

  42. kimk says:

with you all on the voice part..
    got a question though.
how would David feel about knowing folks feel this way?
have a feeling he would like to produce music that matches the quality
of his live voice and performances.

    like Adele for an example.

  43. ksf says:

” David has proven with the music he left us with that he can indeed sing anything but should accept what makes him shine vocally to be noticed again. I always felt that David’s voice is so suitable for R&B Jazzy type of songs and I hope he would do more in that genre. I will alway buy and support him because of his talent not because how relevent he should be but hopefully one day he will be again to sustain a music career.”

Philly Fan – ITA with everything you said but especially that. So, so, soooo true!!

  44. Shanny in Australia says:

Haha, Ali….just like I was questioning the true value of Billboard recently 😉 it gets me questioning the value of ranking on itunes or Amazon. In david’s case, how many people are REALLY going to see his name listed for a day or week or two and then go out and buy his music? It would be interesting to see how much tbat sort of stuff translates into new sales and new fans. I suspect that it is a small percentage….? Again…as fun as they are, do itunes and amazon rankings just translate into bragging rights and not much more…? Money is where it matters – and that money can trickle in over a period of time. All the money doesn’t have to be made in one week per year.

And again….just like my thoughts on the Billboard thing…perhaps the true measurement of a successful career is not how high you ranked somewhere for a very brief moment but rather the longevity of a career, even if that means low but sustained sales (including tours/merch etc) over a ‘flash in the pan’ career. One Hit Wonder is the term that comes to mind. lol

  45. ksf says:

kimk – He’d be disappointed as I’m sure he does want that kind of career and music. That’s what makes it frustrating but his career is just starting so its not over by a long shot.

  46. Philly Fan says:

KSF! Thank you! David is too talented to be singing songs that don’t do justice to that VOICE. Not saying that I don’t love just about all he put out which I bought and listen to all the time but he needs to find suitable songs for his age and that VOICE which I believe is distinct and beautiful. JMHO

  47. ksf says:

Philly Fan – couldn’t have said it better. That voice and its potential is what keeps me buying albums.

  48. Grannycrush says:

If David had followed the PTB road, he would not be the same David. I am sure that would have been so hard for him and could have broken his beautiful spirit. He knows what he is able to do and still keep being himself. I think the acting gig was a big decision and it must have been very scary, but he could do it without turning his back on his principles. Can you imagine David running around acting cool all the time and doing some controversial things just to get noticed? That is what happens with most young people who try to be the teen heartthrob. That is just not in David’s nature.

David is one of the coolest artists I know mostlly because what you see is what you get. He is so real.

  49. ksf says:

Grannycrush – Very true. I think the frustration comes with him not singing music that BEST showcases that amazing voice. I’m not talking about lifestyle.

  50. bychance says:

Love that, Grannycrush…..we want the Voice, good music for that voice, and David being able to be David. We’re not asking much, right?

  51. Shanny in Australia says:

Grannycrush, your comment brought these lyrics from Stomping the Roses to mind…

” I know that you rule your whole world
Thought I could live in it but I just can’t”

  52. Lucy says:

I guess I’m a fan who loves his voice and his music, don’t know if that’s the majority or minority of the fans. I love to listen to TOSOD in the mornings when I shower, it pumps me up! I can relate to the songs on it especially TOSOD, I just love the lyrics, they remind me that I’m tougher than I think. Cheesy I know but that’s me 🙂 have a good day guys!

  53. bychance says:

Actually, we are asking a lot, given the music scene today, and cuddos to David if he can pull it off! I think he can….i think he can……

  54. Candy says:

kimk-I agree, I too think he would like to produce music that matches the quality of his voice…so far for the masses, that hasnt happened. The hardcore fans, like us, will buy anything he produces…the casual or non fan…not so much. Do I think it can happen…sure!
Im more of a realist in that you gotta show me the goods before I will follow you off to Never Never land. David has shown over and over again he has the voice…he just needs to find the right person to bring that voice to the attention of the world and help it spread beyond the perimeters of a fanbase.

  55. Ali says:

    bychance- thanks! 🙂

ksf, I think you really hit the nail on the head with the observation about many of us being here for the voice as opposed to the music specifically. And I don’t say that because I don’t like the music but rather because I’ve enjoyed pretty much all the music David has done and the styles have been pretty varied. If you compare the first album to the Christmas album to TOSOD to his work with MoTab to Forevermore to BEGIN. I mean, wow. Talk about a difference in styles between all of them. And yet I’ve enjoyed every CD. So that tells me it’s the voice that’s drawing me into the music. I think that’s a good thing for David — if a voice can draw people to so many different types of music.

  56. bychance says:

Lucy…not cheesy at all. There are plenty of D songs that I love!

    See y’all later.

  57. Candy says:

ksf- exactly! He has a GREAT SUPER AMAZING VOICE…so far he hasnt found “The” song that showcases it on a cd. I hope come 2014 that will change for him…after Manila that is. 🙂

  58. ksf says:

bychance – LOL…”I think he can…I think he can…” Maybe that should be our new mantra. Potential, potential, potential.

  59. Ali says:

I agree with kimk and Candy though that I’m still waiting for that producer who can really capture the magic of David’s voice in an album — that magic that we hear live. I do hope that one day the quality of the albums will be equal to the talent of the singer. That’s a pretty tall order to fill when you consider how much talent I think David has lol.

  60. Philly Fan says:

David by his voice alone would have set him apart from all the other no talent artist out there that are considered “heartthrobs” and I do believe he could have had it all and still stayed true to himself. At the beginning of Idol David did show a different side that quickly faded. Looking thru old video’s of tour’s when the audience is wild and crazy he performs better and seems to love it. I believe if you have talent you don’t have to sell yourself it’s only when you don’t that you need to do things that attract attention. I.E. Adele no bells and whistles there just plain talent.JMHO

  61. ksf says:

And it’s not about living in the JB world, its simply about making the best music for that voice. I could care less if he’s this huge mega pop star (I’m sure he doesn’t either) with all its trappings. He can make outstanding music and keep his principles fully and completely in tact. One does not exclude the other.

  62. Candy says:

for me where the difference comes in is that to sell you have to sing current music…music that appeals to different people. While we have all been clamoring for him to sing “Maybe Im Amazed” (or other covers)not so sure that is what the general public wants to listen to. Im hoping he finds his niche, or whatever it is that helps him have a career. We all know he has the talent!!

  63. Candy says:

Philly fans-I agree-Adele no bells or whistles what makes her songs hits aside from her fabulous voice is that she sings abut things people can relate to. I dont think singing about riding in an Elevator would be one of her song choices. Nothing against Elevator as just making a point about a song needed to be relatable.

  64. Shanny in Australia says:

Kim, I agree with Ksf at 10:26.
But I also suspect he probably knows on a subconscious level anyway because there is always so much controversy over everything – including his musical decisions. lol

Besides, I don’t think it’s quite as bad as it sounds on the surface anyway. I’ve often contemplated what I honestly think of david’s music (not his voice) and I come up with so many different descriptions depending on which song it is. A couple have really resonated with me on first listening, many have grown on me to differing degrees. Some I love for the beat, some for the message, some for the melody or others because as an ODD fan I know the meaning behind particular songs and that makes me appreciate them in new ways. Of course, it’s ALWAYS the voice that keeps me listening. Anyway I could go on but I think my point is, just because david hasn’t hit on the magical formula yet, musically, doesn’t mean it is all bad news. There are still good components everywhere amongst his music and we listen because we know one day they will all come together in a wonderfully luscious kind of way.

  65. ksf says:

Ali – That was Shanny but I’ll take it. Thanks! Lol. 🙂

Candy – Yes! I too believe that it will happen for him…I just hope it’ll be sooner rather than later.

Philly Fan – Again, well said. I think the myth that you have to “sell your soul to the devil” to be hugely successful is a myth that people have bought into. David could be the artist that shows it to be the lie that it is.

  66. Candy says:

1 Direction is huge, they didnt have to sell their soul to the devil to get there…took a catchy song and the right promo. They are a good, clean, fun group that doesnt have crazy antics. David could have gone that route, stayed true to who he is…

  67. kimk says:

Ali oh my at the thought of that.. never know it can happen. would imagine he would want to do such that when he gets back. I kind of recall an interview where he said he wanted to work on the music more when he does.

  68. Candy says:

When Jim Cantiello said that TOSOD was too sweet, syrupy, too many goodie message songs, I need right then it wasnt going to do well. Not that Jim caused the problem…he talks about current music, he loves David but also knows what will and wont work.

  69. Candy says:

Well mundane is calling, keep the interesting conversation going..sure beats the crud out of all the voting talk. *ducks* BBL

  70. kimk says:

Candy I like 1D. they are adorable and the girls love them. also their songs are appropriate too not to mention what they wear on stage is pretty great. no crazy antics on stage.
lol now that is not to say there is not some craziness off the stage but hey they are 5 young guys would make sense!

  71. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd says:

    Hello Everyone!
Lots of great comments this morning!
I think, deep in Davids heart, he always planned on going on a mission, saw that there was still an opportunity to go after he left Jive. I think for that reason, part of him couldt go full force with the career until he came back. Dont worry, when he comes back, sky’s the limit, his musical talents are endless & his heart & soul so strong, it will be an unbeatable combination, there’ll be no stopping him. Hold on to your socks, cause Davids going to knock em’ off when he returns 😀

    Have a great day all!

  72. kimk says:

Candy I remember that. folks were asking him why he didn’t review it and that was his answer. think David was going thru something and he felt he needed so have the songs on the cd? nice cd really.. maybe not all that successful but it speaks to what he was going thru at the time. hopefully now that he will have completed his mission and will be 23 and a man (ha whateven) he can get down to it with more focus.

  73. ksf says:

Candy – “too many goodie goodie songs.” Those were my thoughts too.

    LOL *oting talk. 😆

  74. Philly Fan says:

Once David left the Idol stage and was under contract I think because he was so young and possibly not knowing the music business he let others make decisions for him and could have lead him on the path that he chose. Sometimes all decisions made are not the right ones. But in life you have to make them good or bad. lol

  75. kimk says:

umm shocker here.. the boy is a ‘goodie goodie’ 😆

oh and that is not bad just stating the obvious.

hey I vote him to join a band.. wonder if Imagine Dragons or The Black Keys need a front man..
that certainly would not be too gooie!!

  76. ksf says:

kimk – lol. True but too many of those songs in one album can be a bit much.

  77. McKenzie Harris says:

    Candy said:

“1 Direction is huge, they didnt have to sell their soul to the devil to get there…took a catchy song and the right promo. They are a good, clean, fun group that doesnt have crazy antics. David could have gone that route, stayed true to who he is…”

I follow One Direction and there is no way that David could have done what they do. Yes they have catchy songs but it’s the other stuff that really makes them big. The flashing of skin, sending out pictures of their naked butt, grabbing and rubbing each others’ butts and crotches on stage, playing up the “love” for each other (see my Larry Stylinson video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmwWHntZq8c&sns=em ), feuding with The Wanted, dating starlettes during key promo periods and then quickly breaking up with them, constantly being on the gossip pages etc. They’re the wilder version of McFly. No way David could do that without seriously changing who he is as a person.

  78. kimk says:

ksf I love them.. but then again I love most all types of music. I
wonder if NMHF will be a mix of different styles?
we still have no idea what the new music that is included is like!!

  79. VaBeachArchie says:

FAB post Joanie! LOVED Cherry’s lead off pic….and LOVED the outfit! THANKS to jackryan for the intervies vid, Naree and JulieMaeMarie for the Pyropalooza pics…GORGEOUS! The collage by MisterShoeAhoy is AWESOME! Such talented Archies!!

sarahhazel….ENJOY your Vegas trip! Had to take two weeks vacation because of my ankle sprain…NO FUN!

Ali….THANKS for always giving us insight into the recording business.

For me…IT IS ABOUT THE VOICE! Nothing like seeing him LIVE…where that voice just soars and takes your breath away! *sigh* Thinking how young David still is and the things he’s ALREADY done….just waiting to see what’s NEXT for the MULTI-TALENTED, AMAZING, GORGEOUS and DRIVEN young man! #DA2014

  80. DA says:

Where are all the super voters? http://bit.ly/WF8dsV

  81. ksf says:

kimk – that’s the million dollar question…I think it might be a mix of styles just because of the circumstances under which it was put together.

  82. Candy says:

Mackenzie-I apologize for my mistaken comments, I had no idea they did any of that stuff. The wilder version of McFly…dont think so. Unless they set their go around setting their crotch on fire or perform on stage with drumsticks in a place the sun dont shine…they arent wilder!

  83. Candy says:

I guess after David touring with McFly and their INSANE on and off stage antics, 1D seems mild in comparison, at least to me. David is the only artist I follow, I listen to a ton of others but dont follow any of them.

  84. booo says:

This past 2 days has been strange around here. First everybody was happy and praised how beautiful Don’t Run Away is and now they are talking down David like- I think he can? Potential? and Jim C think TOSOD is too whatever. I think we should go back and listen to Manila press conf again. When I hear that interviews I know and understand how he works and how he made decisions every steps of the way with his own reasons. I thanks David for his TOSOD choice of songs and all love it and I don’t even care what Jim said. With other artist cd sometime u get 2 or 3 songs that good out of the whole cd. So other rules doesn’t apply to David how he is running his business. I love his way of doing things period.

  85. kimk says:

Mackenzie on stage they are not bad as for the other stuff yes I did see all that.. why I said what I said. as conservative as he is it must be very hard in the music biz to work in a world not so.
John Heder who played in Napoleon Dynamite refused acting roles that he felt wouldn’t work with his standards. not sure if he was ever really popular after that film. was a funny film for sure.

  86. Honest Fan says:

TOSOD and his first cd were the best music he put out beside his Christmas music, nobody sings Christmas music better then David. Those first two albums got people moving and we just loved it. These last few gifts he has left i know are just that gifts but not what others want to hear. Then again who am I to comment if I and others who don’t come here everyday are labelled “NON Fans” thanks to Sydney. I guess thats why others with real honest opinions stay away. Have a nice day everyone.

  87. cq#DA2014 says:

Thank you Joanie for the fabulous Wednesday post and thanks go to all you wonderful fans with all the awesome comments about David’s music career today.
For me yes, I buy anything he puts out because I LOVE HIS VOICE. As far as the type of music…some I love others, not so much….the message songs, which all that he has a hand in seem to be, can come across as a bit “sweet” and kind of preachy without preaching. The most I listen to from what David has produced are BEGIN and Forevermore…Begin, imo, have uplifting songs, but in sweet and preachy and Forevermore are romantic, which I love.
I’m with Candy, I hope he finds his niche that will give him a successful career.

  88. Candy says:

booo- I dont care what Jim said either …my whole point was related to the ongoing conversation…TOSOD wasnt relatable. I wasnt putting David down, unfortunately other rules do apply to long term success.
Davids hardcore fanbase will always love any and everything he puts out. They buy, gift, spend big bucks to go to his VIPS, concerts, thats a pretty big deal in itself considering he has had one hit, and is away for two years.

  89. ksf says:

booo – No one is “talking down” about David. I think every now and again we have truth talks since we are real people with real thoughts and feelings about the artist that we follow. I’m not AT ALL saying that the rest of what’s said around here is not genuine. Quite the contrary, but so is today’s discussion. It all comes from the same place of wanting the best for David.

  90. kimk says:

booo who says DRA is bad.. it is not. it isn’t all that current but why would it be it was recorded a while back. and if I am not mistaken this cd is to keep his name out there until his return.
I think it stinks his sometime fans are not supporting him right now with this new song whether they like it or not.
    he deserves it.

  91. Candy says:

Honest Fan-having an honest opinion has never kept me away, (much to the dismay of other fans) Dont let it keep you way either. If all we talked about was roses, lollipops, unicorns and voting the fanbase would evaporate from boredom!

  92. Candy says:

ksf-Im with you, I didnt see anyone talking down about David, what I saw was fans wanting the best for him, nothing more.

  93. kimk says:

Honest Fan to each their own.. like Candy said I think it keeps him relevant. and lol not boring.

  94. ksf says:

Honest Fan – Maybe I’m wrong bit I don’t think Sydnie was referring to you with that comment. From your comment, I think she assumed that you got your information about what others were saying about David from another site where perhaps non-fans were making fun of him. That’s why she commented that she never visited other fan sites, just FOD. Those are the “non-fans” she was referring to, not you. Hope that helps. And Sydney, please correct me if I’m wrong. 🙂

  95. kimk says:

    there you go.. conservative huh?!

@DavidArchie is “all grown up and smoking hot!” David Archuleta

    10 Sexiest Hondurans In Hollywood!

No longer the 16-year-old boy audiences fell in love with on the seventh season of American Idol, 22-year-old singer David Archuleta is all grown up and smoking hot! Since finishing runner-up on the hit talent show, the part-Honduran has been busy churning out albums. His fifth album, Begin, was released last August and his sixth is due out later this year. Who can resist his charming smile and equally entrancing vocals? Certainly not us!

  96. ksf says:

kimk – “Smokin hot” LOL. The pic they used was nice but they definitely could have chosen another one to illustrate their point even better. The BENCH photo shoot comes to mind! 😆

  97. journey says:

I think there are so many really good arguments for David to do one thing or another. ..to go this route, or that. I guess that’s the “problem” of being so talented and versatile. There is no doubt that in the last 5 years, he has heard it all, felt all the pressures, and weighed all the expectations. I think he realizes that whatever choices he makes, whatever paths he takes, there will be people who will love it and herald it as the most brilliant move, and an equal number who will think it is a huge mistake and that that it is be career suicide. I think he has realized that the best way for him to move forward is to just follow his heart–not an uninformed heart, as we know he is a total sponge–but do what he feels is best for him, in life, as well as in his career. He has fully acknowledged that he makes mistakes, but he admits that is part of the process of learning where you want to go. I have loved watching him embrace that process and appreciate him letting us go along for the ride.

  98. kimk says:

journey dying to know what direction he will go come 2014.. would imagine he has a lot of time to think about it all.

  99. kimk says:

  100. ksf says:

    journey – Beautifully said.

  101. booo says:

Me too Journey. Thank you well said.

  102. McKenzie Harris says:

Kimk, at 2:45 of my Larry Stylinson video, there’s a picture of Harry Styles touching Louis Tomlinson’s crotch area. This was during the height of speculation they were dating. It created tons of buzz. David toured with Benton Paul in 2009. Can you even imagine David ever doing that with Benton? Or kissing Benton during a photo-op? I have absolutely nothing against any of this by the way. I just don’t see David ever willing to make out with Benton or anyone else for publicity.

  103. cq#DA2014 says:

There is no doubt in my mind that David will have a music career, heck, my nephew has a music career singing children songs at birthday parties. The thing is….as a fan of that phenomenal VOICE, I think it would be such a shame for just a so, so music career. I know that I’m in the minority, but dang…he belongs being a major star. Hoping that he finds the niche that is comfortable for him and brings him to where he belongs…a major singing star of his time!

  104. lizzie says:

wow, had no idea 1D did all that wild stuff, maybe that is why Bieber showed his bare bottom on twitter(soon deleted it) and started vlogging with his shirt off. Hmm my little sister loves 1D. I like some of their songs but as far as their antics go….I prefer David. He stays true to himself, and I love who he is as a person….and LOVE HIS VOICE!!!!

  105. lizzie says:

“I think it would be such a shame for just a so, so music career. I know that I’m in the minority, but dang…he belongs being a major star. Hoping that he finds the niche that is comfortable for him and brings him to where he belongs…a major singing star of his time!”

  106. Candy says:

I really dont think kimk was trying to make a point that David would be kissing anyone on stage or doing any of the other antics, neither was I. Again for me it as about relatable music.

  107. kimk says:

McKenzie lol the convo.. I might not be the right one to discuss this with. if they are dating that is ok with me. I am ok with whoever each others choices are.
as for David kissing anyone let alone Benton the kid did a handstand instead of kissing one of the gals on the forehead. not too worried about David setting a bad example for any youngen or adult for that matter. he is the perfect role model.
    maybe a little too perfect.

  108. Tracy says:

McKenzie Harris-The 1D boys are not doing those gestures for publicity…my daughter follows them big time and i have seen just about every video and I assure you whatever they do, it’s all in fun. They are regular teenage boys who act normal. It’s all fun and non of it is too rude to talk about nothing filfthy…..they are nothing compared to others such as Bruno or McMfly. David is just really good that is all, that is why you see him doing that stuff. David is different, in a good way.

  109. breanne says:

Thanks for your post today Joanie & LOVE all the pics!! That comment from Tectonic Pop that Don’t Run Away is “old fashioned” really irritates me! I would rather hear this beautiful & uplifting song anyday than some of the garbage that is out there today!
I have loved every album David has put out for different reasons. TOSOD was one of my favorites and has so many great songs on it. I listened to it in my car when I was driving for 1 1/2 hours last week & still love it as much as I did the lst time I heard it!! Songs like: TOSOD, Parachutes & Airplanes, Falling Stars, Complain, Good Place, Things Are Gonna Get Better & MKOP are sooo good!! Don’t Run Away was written during the time period he was working on TOSOD and I LOVE it! David has a way of drawing people in with the songs he helps write & sing. Broken was my favorite song from his BEGIN. album because of the lyrics & the music. Everytime I listen to it I get tears in my eyes!! For a person so young, David has done some amazingly inspirational music and I don’t care what anyone says about it being sappy or old fashioned! Sorry, I went on a rant here but just had to let my thoughts out.

Be sure to vote on all the voting links Joanie listed.

  110. kimk says:

ha well I guess David fits in with all the going ons here..
he IS one of the Sexiest Hondurans In Hollywood today!! 🙂

  111. cq#DA2014 says:

Ok I know I’m going to get a lot of slack for this comment, but I always thought that I would like David to push himself outside of that sweet, concervative box and feel comfortable doing it…now I don’t mean being a stupid and going completely wild. To me he really seems so guarded at times…like I have to show people that I’m so good all time….I know that some fans have said that was because he was being told to do things he didn’t want to do, but from what I see, it’s because he might of been told to be a roll model for his church. No one ever says the pressure he was feeling from his church might be why he does the songs he does and I’m sure he must of had a lot coming his way. I’m not saying that it’s wrong or right, I’m just giving a different view…therefor…the sweet, message songs.

  112. bychance says:

booo…i said i think he can because… I think HE CAN! ….has what it takes…. look at all he has done so far…..not bad for a young kid! But the music business is tough and I was just being silly and trying to put a positive spin on things. Please don’t take that as talking down about him, or that I am not totally amazed and enthralled by everything he has already done, and the way he as done it. Heck, I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t! Sorry if it came across to you differently.

  113. ksf says:

cq – Lol… “There is no doubt in my mind that David will have a music career, heck, my nephew has a music career singing children songs at birthday parties.” I don’t know if you meant it to be funny but it made me laugh. 😆

  114. journey says:

I have a daughter who spent some time in the entertainment industry–not the music industry mind you, but I have a feeling there are probably a lot of similarities. What we learned is that once you sign with the big agents (I imagine similar to the big music labels), your control goes out the window. They control the image you portray to the public, the jobs you take, the work you do. They say “jump” and you do it! Obviously they are investing large amounts of money into you, so they want to follow their formula for success…not yours. It was initially exciting, but that dimmed pretty quickly. She has left that “world” and is studying at a university right now. She was recently approached about re-entering that “world”, and without hesitation, she turned it down.

That experience has had me wonder about David and his experience in the music industry. We know (especially after the TOSOD songs) that he does not like having his control taken away. I imagine an independent label would be a much better fit for him, allowing him the ability to make so many more of the decisions. It might not have as great a potential for the big career, but I feel he would flourish much more in that arena and be much happier…and want to continue in the industry.

  115. kimk says:

cq would love to see him go a little wild.. JT on stage was mighty fine the other night.
maybe a little Enrique thrown in there?!
don’t really expect it though.. I feel that it would not be a good thing.
some folks would be not too happy with him.

  116. Philly Fan says:

The first minute that I saw David on the AI7 stage my family and I agreed that he had the looks and charm that most contestants would die for but mostly the VOICE/TALENT TO become a Mega Star, It wasn’t who he was religously or his values that made me vote until my finger almost fell off. lol I knew in my heart that he had what it would take to become anything he wanted. As I said in the past that only David knows what he truly wants from his career but you cannot blame fans that state an opinion if they want more for him careerwise. I know as a true fan I want him to get what his talent deserves from the Music Industry and non fans alike. JMHO

  117. ksf says:

cq @ 1:39 – Yeah I agree that he might feel some pressure and that he does care what others think if him, but as kimk said earlier, being a “goodie goodie” is who he is. Trying to change that would be like asking an apple to be an orange. It’s his “essence.” That sounds cheesy and I don’t mean to say that he is anywhere near perfect (since no one is) but he has a child-like heart (not to be confused with “childish”), which is an absolutely wonderful gift…it just gets tricky when it comes to the entertainment business which is ANYTHING BUT innocent. As I said, he can be a “goodie goodie” and have a thriving, relevant career. A trailblazer of sorts! 🙂

  118. journey says:

    Ksf…”trailblazer”…I like it.

  119. Philly Fan says:

I think if you are signed with a major label as long as you produce hits and make money for the PTB and it works with the songs you sing you won’t have to compromise who you are. Because you know what they say “Money talks and ……………….walks. David was on his way and I do believe because of his talent they would have compromised with him. I think Jive was loosing track as a major label and was very money concious and didn’t get David the best producers/directors/song writers to work with @ that time. Never got him a great duet with a popular artist which I still to this day don’t understand and I can on and on but his label really did drop the ball. Again JMHO.

  120. ksf says:

In all that blabbering I meant to say that he would probably be conservative even if he wasn’t Mormon.

  121. ray says:

right now the music industery is driven by tweens and teans expl , jb and ts no realtalent but sell to the tweens and teans, not adulets, there music is not real therfore they will not last long, exp, joe bros. david will be around a long time when he gets back, and is free to produce good music for the masses, lets give this lable he is with now a lot of kudoes, for workeing wit david while he is not even here, they must have a lot of fathe in him wen he returns i am done

  122. bychance says:

journey…..that’s so interesting about your daughter. If you read the interview post at snowangelz, David, too, says he just wasn’t happy and parted ways with his label and management because of it. We all just want to be happy, and that, of course, means different things to different people. It take courage sometimes to do what make YOU happy. Doesn’t mean it’s always easy or that others will appreciate or agree with what you are doing. I love what you said about David flourishing and being happier with route he took. That, in the end, is really what it’s all about…..being happy…..doing what feels right inside for you.

Whatever happens, he caught me hook, line and sinker, and I will be here no matter what! That’s the only thing I can say for sure!

  123. ksf says:

Philly Fan – They did drop the ball but as you said, maybe it was more a matter of the situation they were in and not from them not being willing to support David. But, oh well, we’ll never know all of the details of what happened.

  124. bychance says:

ksf….agree totally… he just is who he is. I’m done, too.

  125. bychance says:

Not really done….you know what I mean. A million things to do, so…… but sure have enjoyed everyones views and opinions today. Thanks!

  126. ksf says:

    bychance – Bye…TTYL. 🙂

  127. mango says:

ksf, I think you are exactly right…..David is just conservative. As a former Mormon, I can say that David is way more conservative than most Mormons. I think he will grow out of that a little as he matures. I don’t expect him to be in the “shell” that he seems to be in right now for the rest of his life.

  128. cq#DA2014 says:

ksf @2:05 we’ll never know, could be, but, imo, maybe not!?!?!? heck the way I have expressed myself about David, his music and how goodie, goodie he is, I should of moved on a long time ago…notice I’m still here, buying anything he puts out, like, don’t like, it doesn’t matter (at this point) because I LOVE THE MAN’S VOICE!!! But, I will always want more from his career…mind you, I have no idea what he wants, I’m just talking about ME as a fan.

  129. kimk says:

I don’t know.. if you go back thru the years he sure likes some really cool edgy music.
never know what can or will be.

  130. journey says:

I just read the interview over at Snowanglz. It gives real insight into David’s thoughts regarding the music industry and finding his place in it.

It seems that we all agree that David deserves the best and we want that for him very much. I do wish that this new single and album would do well on the charts, it would be a nice gift back to David, but I guess we’ll see. Maybe DRA will climb back up if it gets some decent airplay, I hope so! No matter what, I am so grateful for FOD and all my archufriends here, we are kind of a family here aren’t we?

  134. kimk says:

just as long he has a concert somewhere on the east coast every so often I am ok with whatever will be.. will dream though.
lol was just wondering what he would sound and look like if he covered this song!! 😀

  135. ksf says:

mango – It’ll be interesting to see as time goes on.

cq – Point taken. I understand.

Journey – thanks for mentioning the Snowangelz interview. Great interview. My thoughts are that it’s great to follow your heart and go your own way, but he’s got to have some experienced mentors who have done this before and who he can get guidance from. I just wonder who those people are? I know he likes control but who does he get advice from?

  136. cq#DA2014 says:

I’m a little puzzled as to why DRA was the one song to be released as a single from the new album, mind you, I do love the cleaned up version of the song. The I reason I say this is because the leaked one didn’t really get a lot of hits and not everyone of the diehard fans really liked it…for me, the formal released song is so much better but fans had already formed their opinion of the song, so wouldn’t they notice that and it might really not take…maybe releasing one the new songs that was fresh and no one had already formed an opinion might of been better…just a thought?!?

  137. kimk says:

cq got a theory.. message song? theme cd?
Don’t Run Away.. No Matter How Far..
I may be far away.. not around.. but still here with my music until I return?
Wait is rumored to be on it.
    so is Day After Tomorrow

  138. ksf says:

cq – Or maybe DRA is the best of the bunch?

  139. cq#DA2014 says:

Good theory Kimk, that might be exactly what it is…maybe they and David thought at this time he needed to let us fans know that he wants us here when he returns…
Right now I’m just a little bummed that DRA isn’t doing as good as I thought it would..mind you I didn’t think it would be a barn burner, but at least do as well as Somethin bout love…oh well, sigh…on to getting excited about the new album, lol.

  140. cq#DA2014 says:

ksf, got a point, we’ll see when the album is released or even before with snippet.

  141. Philly Fan says:

Actually I would like to hear on the new album anything that is new and has not be on Ytube. Of course except “Senseless” lol which is my favorite. This way there might be something in that vault of songs that could skyrocket off the charts. You never know something that may have been overlooked and is/could be current for today.

  142. anon says:

David is already a mega star IMO. He has touched lives in ways that few people do. He has a genuine fan base that remains faithful even during a two year hiatus. Why do the same few fans on this site continually throw in a monkey wrench every single time there’s something to celebrate regarding David? I’m more tired of that than I am of timely voting reminders and pleas.

Why does DAvid have to be at the top of popularity in the music industry anyway? Does HE really want that? Or do we want that because we’re vicariously living our own desires? Do we think we’ve failed if he isn’t numero uno in the eyes of the world? Is it possible that David simply wants to sing for whomever will listen? What’s wrong with choosing to be a very good person who behaves in rightful ways? Could it be that some people feel reproached by his decency?

TOSOD HAS depth. Anyone who has matured in life is able to put suffering and difficulties in perspective and not wallow in self pity. Could it be that some people are too shallow to notice that? Love and life can be pure and innocent and so sweet that it makes you want to smile nonstop. David is David and that’s 100% fine by me.

  143. kimk says:

anon so why do you think DRA bombed?

  144. Tracy says:

Nothing wrong with wanting the best from David, maybe not number 1 but atleast take notice. People outside a few fan site don’t have a clue what he is up to, or maybe they dont care. Maybe we want more people to notice him…nothing wrong with that.

  145. nora says:

maybe David should do what Donny Osmond did, he said in an interview that no radio stations would play his music so he released a song without putting his name on it, and before they knew it was him, they had played it and it was too late, because it a\had already become a hit. That is so sad, when DJs don’t like you for some reason they won’t play your music. I don’t know whether any of you remember this interview, but you can probably find it on YT. Just my opinion, but I don’t think that anything that David does will change their minds, seems they just don’t want to give him a chance.I might be wrong, and maybe I am, just can’t figure the radio stations out. Sorry for the rant.

  146. kimk says:

  147. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd says:

    Hello Again Everyone!
As far as David being conservative, yes he is, but he was really coming further out from under his shell in Asia & the Phils & he filmed a mini-series. He said going on a mission will allow him to grow in a way he couldnt. I think his confidence will grow in leaps & bounds during this time. I remember David saying that he wants to live a life that will reflect well on his family, his future family & himself. That he wants to leave a positive mark on this world. He said he realizes that he, no one is perfect, but that he always wants to do his best, in everything he does. DRA just came out, Kari hasnt even given us the green light to request from radio yet. Lets hope the song catches on, brings some publicity for the cd. We dont know what the heck is on that cd yet, cant wait to find out. One more thing about the antics singers pull for publicity or fun. David doesnt do crazy stuff for publicity, but he is VERY adventerous. I’m just grateful he’s not into grabbing someone inappropriately on stage, it would break my heart, lol. Its hard to be patient, but we have to try(try, hmmm, good luck to us,lol) & I cant wait to see all the things David will accomplish in the music industry when he returns, its going to be FABULOUS 😀

Gotta go, will check in later, Adios!

  148. kimk says:

    oops sorry.
think I need to change my name.. something exotic.. mysterious.

  149. ksf says:

Nobody’s throwing a wrench in anything. Not one person has been mean, nasty, or disrespectful to David in any way. I don’t think that we’re the ones lacking in maturity here. If you can only profess love, “rainbows” and sunshine but can’t handle any other type of sincere dialogue then there is a problem.

  150. Candy says:

    preaching to the choir…

  151. ksf says:

    That was directed to anon.

  152. Candy says:

I love the exchange today of thoughts, ideas, opinions, they are being expressed in a respectful way…why is that an issue?

  153. kimk says:

nora my radio station was not very nice to David.. cause of his sweet boy image. hear ya.
maybe this break will help with that.

  154. kimk says:

    can’t handle the truth?

  155. Candy says:

kimk- exactly what I was thinking, too much for some to handle.

  156. kimk says:

    Candy miss him terribly.

  157. Philly Fan says:

Why is it when fans give their opinions on David’s music career and what any good fan would want for him it seems that his integrity is always being brought up? I have been a diehard fan since his first song on Idol. I have purchase everything that David has put out and went to every concert that was available to me and brought along many family members. I also voted on every poll that had David’s name attached to it and I will continue to do so. I am very excited about the release of this single as well as waiting for the album to drop which I already purchased but I follow him because of his voice/talent and also because I do believe he is a good/generous human being. However, that does not mean that I wished he was more popular with the masses afterall isn’t trying to keep the buzz alive by this fanbase the basis for that? I also hope that David would want that as well since he is an music artist. No one is bashing the choices David has made we are just trying to understand them since we are diehardfans that have been here since day one. And I hardly believe that anyone on this site that have been here would be reproached by his decency. JMHO

  158. Philly Fan says:

*mean I wished he is more popular with the masses.

  159. journey says:

Personally, even though I love DRA, I never expected it to take off, or the album for that matter. He’s not here to promote it and it’s an old song. As a fan, I’m very excited for it, but never expected mainstream folks to even acknowledge it much. I think it serves a great purpose to keep his fans interested and his name out there…but beyond that, I would be very pleasantly surprised if it experienced much success. I’m just grateful that David has been able to give us so much music during these 2 long years.

  160. Candy says:

Philly Fan-“reproached by his decency”-I have to admit that statement blew my mind…who here has ever said they dont respect David or have a problem with his decency. No one that I can recall in five years of posting here!

  161. Candy says:

journey-I agree, it was recorded three years ago during Davids message phase and fits his present situation perfectly.
I doubt it was recorded or written with a “wow this would be a good song to leave for fans while Im on a mission” frame of mind.

  162. nora says:

kimmy radio stations were nor very kind to David either, one of them got so many nasty E-mails he said okay enough, so stop withe the E-mails, he never said much after that. There was only 1 station in the New England area, that played and let you request ALTNOY, and that was a station in Rhode Island, the station really liked him, and had him in to do mini concerts, that station 92 pro fm, they were really great, so I always heard ALTNOY on that station. But never on Boston Stations.

  163. nora says:

    Sorry meant kimk

  164. Philly Fan says:

Candy! It was that statement that made me react could not believe it myself. It seems that some people can’t see the forest for the trees. I follow him because I believe he has talent and I love his voice no matter what he sings or what songs he puts out. There are a lot of decent artist that are very popular in today’s music that have made it. The discussions today did not merit that statement. JMHO

  165. kimmy says:

nora ha I like that name!

  166. Candy says:

    how about Kimberly Ann 😉

  167. kimmy says:

Candy that is actually my name! 🙂

  168. Candy says:

kimk-I know. I remember a long time ago we were discussing using our real names here and you mentioned it. Reason I remember is that its my oldest daughters name too. 🙂

  169. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin hot Honduran!! says:

wonder if there will be a Spanish song on the CD or he will wait until he comes home to record one? as I recall he did meet with a Spanish artist once.
    forget who.

  170. Anita says:

Thanks Joanie for this beautiful post! I’ve been thinking, even though Don’t Run Away is being released on AC, it sounds like a song the tween and teen girls would love, but I guess not. I really do get it! Someone needs to help them out of their Beiber & One Direction trans I think!

  171. Candy says:

ROTF-kimk you crack me up! Count me in that fan of a smokin hot Honduran group!!

  172. Candy says:

Anita-Ha, I hope it isnt David that helps them out…I prefer to leave them all screaming and drooling over JB & 1D so we can actually hear what David is singing!

  173. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin hot Honduran!! says:

Candy remembering our last concert together and us all freaking out in the parking lot saying goodbye…
and worrying, hugging, crying that David may leave us for two years.
how would we survive.. get along.. what artist could fill the vibe
lol Justin Bieber coming up as an alternative is probs why we were all really crying.

  174. Anita says:

I meant to say I really DON’T get it! Well, one thing’s for sure! None of us are leaving David high and dry!!!

  175. Candy says:

Bwahahahaha kimk-you got that right!!! JB filling in for David…no wonder we were all crying!

  176. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin hot Honduran!! says:

Anita think I added biebs and 1D fans to my tweets trying to promote David on twitter. I hope they do buy his cd.. more the merrier!! will go back to it once the poll is over and folks can see his timeline. I think it is over today.

  177. Anita says:

Candy-Oh I see! You want us adults to have David all to ourselves, LOL!!! You certainly do have a point there. Those young ones tend to do alot of screaming at concerts instead of actually listening.

  178. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin hot Honduran!! says:

  184. tami lyn says:

i so agree! matt clayton brings out something in david the others can’t.

  185. Janel aka Nellie says:

May be time for some intervention for this girl, convince her otherwise, share some of David’s best performances with her, change her mind for good. LOL

    Evan. †‏@fightforgrande

David Archuleta is coming back? Lol I never liked him

  186. tami lyn says:

    david’s coming back? 🙂

  187. tami lyn says:

what i don’t get is why is david in chile? he should be converting aetheists into christians, not catholics into mormons. doesn’t make sense to me to for the missionaries to preach the Gospel to people who already believe in God/Jesus!

  188. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin hot Honduran!! says:

  199. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin hot Honduran!! says:

collegemon I love that video.. he is so cute and I love how the kids go crazy for him!!

  200. Shanny in Australia says:

Lol can of worms all right. Suffice it to say that even Christian people here have tried to tell the LDS people that they should change their brand of Christianity. Guess that’s what it is….there is more than one brand of Christianity and everyone thinks there’s is right. At the end of the day, whether people are preaching to atheists or to a different brand of Christian, it’s just an exchange of ideas. If people don’t want to listen or don’t agree, they can just say No Thanks.

  201. ksf says:

    Good question though, tami lyn.

  202. tami lyn says:

shanny~ that is why i am confused. gospel says go out and preach the good news, to unbelievers, not to the believers. so if most of chile is catholic again why are the missionaries there? there are plenty of aetheists right here in the united states who need help.

  203. ksf says:

tami lyn @ 6:33 – yep, but Shanny makes a good point. They can “just say no.”

  204. tami lyn says:

thanks ksf! it’s a good question that no one wants to answer.

  205. tami lyn says:

well of course they can say no. so why is david wasting his time with that?

  206. Janel aka Nellie says:

College mom, thank you! Good to share the better video!! 🙂

  207. Shanny in Australia says:

Tami Lyn 6:33 oh boy, now that really is opening up a can of worms.
Some like to argue that LDS people have a different Jesus. But we worship the Jesus in the bible according to our interpretation. Other faiths worship the Jesus of the Bible according to their interpretation. It will just start arguments to go any further in depth.

  208. tami lyn says:

shanny~ yeah i think u guys have the same Jesus as the rest of us. my question was why are mormons trying to convert catholics?

  209. kimk says:

tamilyn ha. he isn’t coming home til next March.. nothing we can do about it.

  210. ksf says:

tami lyn – no, they don’t worship the same Jesus — not really. It’s probably best if you do your own research.

  211. tami lyn says:

there is only one Jesus. i better go look at my Book of Mormon again!

  212. ksf says:

tami lyn – Generally, people try to convert others because they believe the other faith is wrong. They are trying to save them from making an eternal error.

  213. Janel aka Nellie says:

Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin hot Honduran!! Just wanted to say I love your name! LOL

  214. ksf says:

Oh wow…and that’s where the problem lies. Lol.

  215. ksf says:

tami lyn @6:55 – yep, only one. The issue, as Shanny said, is interpretation, and NOT from the BOM, but the Bible. It all depends on what you’re reading. *Sigh*

    Any word on snippets?!!!! 🙂

  216. tami lyn says:

where ksf? u lost me again! lol

  217. tami lyn says:

again it’s not about that. it’s about reaching the people who have never heard about Jesus.

  218. tami lyn says:

it’s like when the missionaries come to my door(mormon or JW) i tell them~ stop wasting your time. i already believe in Jesus! i’m not going to join your church, i already go to church!

  219. Shanny in Australia says:

Tami Lyn, it just comes down to feeling like our message is a message that all people could benefit from hearing.

As for the Jesus thing…if you have read the Book of Mormon cover to cover you will find it agrees with the Bible as to who Jesus is. And believe me, one of the things I feel strongly about is …”Who God is and what kind of person He is.” I have studied what the Bible and the Book of Mormon say on that topic and they go together beautifully.

  220. ksf says:

tami lyn @ 7:02 – Suffice it to say its extremely important to consider the source of where you do your research.

  221. bychance says:

ksf….@*in the most respectful voice I have* that’s not exactly right, but respect that’s how you feel.

tamilyn…If you want to get my email, I would be glad to talk to you, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea to go down this road here….it’s just is not a good forum for religious discusion, imo…..sometimes misinformation, too many hurt feelings. etc. I appreciate that you want to understand, though, and you raise some good questions.

….and I think that’s all I better say on the subject.

  222. bychance says:

    meant @ 6:55

  223. ksf says:

Shanny – I respectfully disagree that the Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand in hand. However, you’ve embraced it as your faith and are entitled to your beliefs.

tami lyn – No matter what is said here by anyone, ultimately each of us has to develop their own convictions.

  224. kimk says:

Janel thanks me too and he sure is!!

  225. ksf says:

tami lyn – I’ll DM you.

    You crack me up girl!

  233. Shanny in Australia says:

Tami Lyn, we believe that some truths were lost after the original apostles were killed. We believe our church is a full restoration of the original church that Christ set up when he lived on the earth. That is why we feel our message is for everyone.

  234. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

  239. Shanny in Australia says:

    Ksf, 7:17pm. True, true.
But hey, c’mon…if you’re gonna DM Tami Lyn and tell her all the reasons why we’re wrong, shouldn’t I be allowed a chance to speak too? 😉 Maybe we need to set up a conference call or something. lol Just kidding, just kidding. Like you said, everyone needs to work it out for themselves and a part of that is deciding for themselves who’ll they listen to and who they won’t.

  240. tami lyn says:

yeah a conference call would be fun!

  241. tami lyn says:

ksf~ replied to your DMs! thanks 🙂

  242. tami lyn says:

    ksf~ boof 😉 lol!

  243. ksf says:

Shanny – I wouldn’t tell her anything that she can’t find out for herself by researching. I think that will speak loud enough on its own.

  244. bychance says:

kimk…I sure hope you’re keeping that name!

are you watching the Duke/UNC game tonight? that’s where I’ll be….the biggest rivalry in college basketball…i’m looking forward to it.

  245. tami lyn says:

thanks bychance for your offer to answer my questions. appreciate it! 🙂

  246. Grannycrush says:

I just read David’s interview on SnowAngelz. That was a very telling interview. That young man has an amazing head on his shoulders and is also very brave. The easy thing to do is stick with the familiar, but he knew that wasn’t making him happy, so he dumped both Jive and his management. He was sick of everyone telling him what was best for him and what direction to go with his music. Can you imagine doing that at his young age, and then going out and getting some big gigs and doing all of the things he did in the Philippines. I am sure they all thought that he could not exist without them, but in his quiet way, he pretty much showed them that he could do fine without them. The mission was probably always on his mind, but I am sure Jive and management were against him making that committment. Once he was rid of the constant control, he decided that he would never be fully happy unless he committed to the mission. What a mature young man he is in so many ways.

  247. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

bychance Duke/UNC hmm hubs might.. sounds like a good game! I will probably be watching Idol! ladies night.

  248. Shanny in Australia says:

Ksf, lol…well you know that doesn’t necessarily equal unbiased information. Don’t you think unbiased would include allowing people to respond to an argument?

Anyway…it’s Valentines day here – Happy Valentines everyone (my 6yo daughter got a valentines gift in the mail this morning lol she’s feeling pretty special. 🙂 )….and hubby is home from work for a couple of days, our kids are having two nights at their grandparents and hubby and I are going to pretend we’re DINKS for a couple of days (Double Income No Kids) and go out and eat decadent meals and walk by the river and eat alfresco breakfasts at nice little cafes. Can I ask a question? What happened to all the men that used to post here>? Have they moved on? I know Jerry still covers Davids song but what about the others?

  263. Shanny in Australia says:

Ksf, except if I don’t know what is being said, how do I know what to say in response? Anyway, it doesn’t matter. Tami Lyn is a big girl, she can figure things out how she wants and you both have every entitlement to speak privately.

Cq, there you go again. Contentious way of speaking. Everyone has their own views of the world and think tbey are right to some degree. Isn’t that what having an opinion or a belief or a conviction inherently means? You have what you think is right even if that meant you believed in everyone being right and no-one being wrong. But from all your comments, you clearly think LDS people are wrong anyway. So there’s your opinion. One thing I will say for us is that we don’t think it’s all or nothing. We don’t think you better become LDS today or you’re doomed for eternity. We believe.everyone has their own road to travel and in their own time.In contrast, there are plenty of Christians who think a person is doomed if they die without accepting Jesus (the one they believe in lol). So please don’t make out that we are some holier than thou religion who looks down on the things that other people believe in. Because we don’t. I don’t recall one LDS person ever putting down the religious belief of another person here. I can’t say the same for otber people towards LDS mind you. Yes, we believe there is a right way just like most others do.

Lol…I’m trying to have some DINK time with my hubby. Stop distracting me people. 😉

    Hello Everyone!
Hey cq, please read Shannys comment at 6:37, if you have read it again, please 😀

I had some Elders stop at my house a few years ago, they came to the door, said hi, I said thank you for stopping by, but I’m doing good to & they said ok thanks bye! They were sweet, not pushy or anything. I dont really agree going door to door, just be available if someone wishes to talk to you, let people visit you at your church or gathering & talk. But, anytime I’ve run into an Elder, they’re sweet as pie & respect you & your feelings.

I wouldnt mind learning more about it, but some people try to explain, answer questions, then they get slammed. Everyone has their beliefs, morals & values they live by. Everyone believes in their own religion, if they are a part of a religion, no religion in particular or dont believe in God. Its up to every person walking this earth. It gets dangerous when people believe their way is the right way, the only way and if you dont believe a certain way, you’re not living the right way. Well, thats hogwash. Different religions, different ethnicities, man, woman whatever. Above all, if you treat others as you wish to be treated, show kindness & compassion, tolerance & understanding, respect & love to your fellow man, then the rest falls into place. David said he wanted to work on his relationship with God & serve others. He’s not in Chile riding his bike at 50 miles an hour, coming up on someone, leaping off his bike, tackling them, shoving the Book of Mormon in their face & telling them they must change for goodness sakes. If anything, being a fan of Davids the last several years, and while we dont know him personally, I think we’ve seen enough to know that he has great love & compassion for his fellow man & is sincere in his desire to help his fellow man if he can, if they ask for it.

  266. cq#DA2014 says:

Candy @7:19 I didn’t dig it up this time, lol. Of course had to put my two cent into the pot.

  267. Janel aka Nellie says:

Boy I don’t like worms and I certainly don’t like cans of worms. Ive stood up for the LDS church and what David is doing and what we both believe to be true several times here only to get criticized for it. We’ve been down this road before and it just usually gets feelings hurt. I am always willing to help people understand what I believe in but not in the name of bringing the spirit of contention to the party. David has been gone almost 11 months and will be gone another 13 months no matter if we agree with his decision or what he believes in or not.

  268. ksf says:

    tami lyn – LOL 😛

  269. Candy says:

UGH! Taking my horse and leaving!! BBL

  270. ksf says:

Shanny – Yep, that is something to consider. 😉 But, as you say tami lyn is a “big girl.”

  271. ray says:

these comments are way people are staying away from this site,. ksf is very sarcastic..those who don,t like davids religion just move on or drop it.lets talk about his music and not hi privet life.

  272. cq#DA2014 says:

Ok, Shanny…so you can speak your mind, but if I speak my mind it’s contentious…I’m bad and you are good. BTW, I don’t feel that way about LDS churches, I feel that way about all man made churches….I feel the same way with the church I was brought up with…

  273. tami lyn says:

beth~ oh i think maybe he is riding his bike at 50 mph! haha! i can picture that 🙂 dav id~ DON’T RUN AWAY!

  274. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

kind of think these types of comments, discussions is what keeps it alive.

  275. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd #DA2014 says:

    Ray 😀

tami_lyn, lol, I thought about that after I typed it. He probably does ride it that fast, just not the other stuff 😀

I hope we get snippets of the songs or a track list in the next week or two, cant wait to find out what songs are on the album. Any songs, just to hear that VOICE 😀

  276. ksf says:

    ray – thanks! I agree. 😉

  277. Shanny in Australia says:

Janel, Beth. Absolutely. I agree. Thank you.:-)

    Candy, lol. Cleaning toilets? 😉
Don’t worry, I’ve really got to get going. Thanks for your patience. 🙂 As i’ve said previously, i’m tired of keeping quiet for the sake of peace and getting all my precious things trampled over. I will try to be respectful always but i’m gonna say what is in my heart to say. I did actually come here today to spazz over the guy we all love. Things went in a different direction I guess.

Tracy, I think the men lurk and post occasionally. Spazzing and blabbing constantly is probably more of a female thing. 😉

  278. Tracy says:

Ray- well there is one still posting. Hi Ray 🙂

  279. ksf says:

Hey wait…what about those who do “like” his religion? Should they drop it too?

  280. ksf says:

Kim – so true. We can’t all be robots now can we?

  281. Shanny in Australia says:

Cq, no nothing wrong with sharing an opinion. It’s the way it’s done that makes the difference.

  282. ksf says:

cq @8:33 – I feel you. Funny how that works, right?

  283. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

    Tracy ray rocks!

  284. cq#DA2014 says:

Shanny ok I got it, how I word it is the difference, been, I guess, put in my place….

  285. Candy says:

We could always talk about my religion…the Catholic Church…that should generate some interesting comments!! 🙂

  286. tami lyn says:

i think everyone should just say what they want and not feel bad about it.

  287. Shanny in Australia says:

    Candy, lol…yeah bring it on!
Maybe we should just go the whole hog, declare it religion week and everyone can talk all they want about their own religions and beliefs and everyone can ask all the questions they want! That would be awesome if we could make it work….lololol
I would love to know the intricate details of peoples spirituality. 🙂

  288. ATX #2014 says:

Oh boy! Loved the conversation earlier today, but think I will join my fellow Catholic, Candy with her toilets.

Btw, MANY other religions have missionaries…..

  289. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd #DA2014 says:

Candy, I’m Catholic too, so what subject should we talk about 😀

cq I love ya, love everyone here, but, Shanny is just trying to answer peoples questions or respond to what is being said, doesnt mean anyone has to agree, but we can be respectful in our replies to her, to eachother.

I dont know, can we drop this subject for now, I want to talk about the cd thats coming. Well, that or politics, or health care or immigration, the mild topics 😆

  290. Candy says:

Catholic Church=Pope quits, pedophiles, against gay marriage, not in favor of birth control…anything you would like to add…

  291. tami lyn says:

did u guys hear about lightening striking the vatican shortly after the pope resigned??! wonder if that means God is angry or that he approves? something to think about for sure!

  292. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

Candy lol. boy talk about bombshell 600 years since the last Pope resigned.

  293. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd #DA2014 says:

Hey Shanny! I remember my first communion, my brother & me. He wore a shirt, tie & black pants, I wore a white sleeveless dress, well, come to think of it, it was kind of short, the times I guess, lol, & a white veil. We looked like a little married couple. I have all brothers, hard for my parents to keep the boys in clothes that fit, with them growing an inch every week, lol, my brothers pants looked like he was ready fro a flood, lol, a few inches off the ground. Every religion has its ceremonies, traditions & such, pretty interesting. We had a priest who, after mass, would hand out little plastic spiders, toys to the kids, lol, told jokes in church too, funny guy.

  294. nora says:

I guess I’ leave and go back and give DRA and Rainbow mix some more views.BBLM

  295. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd #DA2014 says:

Candy, gosh, talk about a can of worms. Even people in the same religion, dont agree on everything. Thats life, thats the way it has been for thousands of years & will be for a long time to come. Hopefully, people can still find a way to continue living on this earth, together. Still a work in progress 😉 😀

  296. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

    interesting day.

would love to talk about NMHF but thing is we have no stinkin clue as to anything about it yet.

think Kari is mad at all those fans who did not support David and his new single.
    she is very quiet.
ok that is me who is pissed.
    yes pissed.
    he can write it
    so can I.

  297. ATX #2014 says:

I was raised Baptist, but converted to Catholic after we were married and had our 2 boys. Imagine our faces when we went to our first night of RCIA and saw the priest standing beside the community building drinking a beer and smoking! Lol

  298. ksf says:

nora – BBLM? Lol. Is the “m” for maybe?

  299. tami lyn says:

it’s too bad that people in general find religion talk to be uncomfortable because actually it’s so fascinating to hear different opinions and perspectives.

  300. ksf says:

    ATX – LOL…wow. 😯

  301. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

    ATX rofl. thanks.

  302. ksf says:

tami lyn – All I can say to that is boof. Lol. Really, that’s the ONLY word for it!

  303. tami lyn says:

ksf~ replied to your DMs! lol

  304. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd #DA2014 says:

kimk, Its crazy, but, the whole song was on soundcloud, before it came out, its not shown on Itunes so people can see it & she hasnt given the word that we can request it on radio. Yeah, with well over a million twitter followers, why didnt more sell yet? Dont know. But we did trend it, tweeted it. Maybe she needs to tweet the info on his account a few more times, like every 4 hours for a day. I dont know. We were all excited that eone seemed to be trying, but are their capabilites limited, dont know what to think.

  305. tami lyn says:

ksf~ u are correct about that! 🙂 (boof)

  306. Shanny in Australia says:

Candy, rofl, you’re cracking me up! Only you could get away with saying that!
There is actually much I admire about the catholic church.

It is a pretty big deal about the Pope resigning isn’t it. It must have.been an incredibly hard decision for him to come to. Does anyone know what the general reaction is out there among Catholics?

Bethy, thanks for sharing that experience! As for the pants, thats why i’ve been glad to raise my kids in an era when pants come in all lengths. They start off as pants, become 3/4 length, then shorts if they are stretchy enough around the waist. 🙂

I actually have a.couple of questions about the Catholic faith I would like to ask but they are probably those typical, offensive, uneducated questions. But I am genuinely curious about the answers and not meaning to offend.

  307. tami lyn says:

i’m sure lots of fans are not purchasing online, like me! i don’t do itunes! or any financial transactions online! buy music in store only

  308. Shanny in Australia says:

Kim, what are you upset about? Kari being quiet?

  309. ATX #2014 says:

Kimk, I think you looking a my favorite picture has you all worked up!

Ksf – lol yep. Pleeeease give us more Javid.

  310. Lurker says:

After a long day at work I was looking forward to checking FOD, but yet again there seems nothing to talk about than religion. I think some fans deliberately bring it up just to get a reaction.

I used to love this site, but am now officially done with the comments section. Sad, because I have been here since the beginning.

  311. Candy says:

Shanny-I never did understand why they would elect a 78 year old to govern a body of over a billion people world-wide.

  312. cq#DA2014 says:

I got it Beth, Shanny already put me in my place.

  313. booo says:

  314. Shanny in Australia says:

Candy, well I can’t comment on that cos I don’t know the processes nor the theology involved. I just figure they must have good reasons….

  315. ATX #2014 says:

Lurker, please come back and read the comments from most of today. Great conversation, one of the best in a few months. I understand your feelings but please reconsider.

  316. cq#DA2014 says:

Yeah, that was a shocker about the Pope…maybe they will bring a more forward thinking leader. I was brought up Catholic and respect my wonderful mom and dad for their beliefs, but I don’t belief like they did and have choosen to have a relationship with God directly away from any church.

  317. Shanny in Australia says:

Booo maybe fod needs to open some forums rather than just a single comments section. That way one area could be called ‘controversial issues’ and people would only go and chat in there if they wanted to.
Bet ya anything though, it would be the most active forum. Ok after the ‘All things spazzing’ forum. 😉

  318. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

Shanny wondering why she is so quiet.
I am the one that is sad.. expected I suppose but the fact he is doing what he is doing giving up so much just can’t fathom the lack of fan support.
may not agree with what he is there for but I know it is not an easy life.
    for that I commend him.
would think his fans in the least could spend a buck for the kid.

  319. Ali says:

Oy, people are so dramatic. The good Lord gave ya a scroll button for a reason. Use it.
(And that’s as close as I’ll come to religion talk lol.)

  320. angelbymyside says:

Shanny ~ in response to your question about the reaction of Catholics on the resignation of The Holy Father, most Catholics were stunned by his announcement. A Pope has not resigned his papacy in nearly 600 years. His health issues combined with his advancing age, played a major role in his resignation.

  321. ksf says:

    ATX – It’s coming.

  322. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd #DA2014 says:

cq thats the attitude Shanny was talking about, I wasnt trying to put you in your place, neither was Shanny. You didnt have to respond to me like that. My comment was nice & meant no offence. There, I said what I really feel.

    Ray is right.

Lurker, I get frustrated to, but I’m not going anywhere. I love FOD.

Shanny, lol, my brothers, hard to keep them in clothes that fit or sporting equipment. So hard to keep a pair of shin guards that fit for hockey, so they tied folded magazines on the legs, lol.

Candy, Thats a good point, Kind of wondered why they do that.

  323. ksf says:

Ali – LOL. I’m leaving too. My delicate nature has been completely offended!

  324. Ali says:

kimk (that is you, right? lol) – I don’t think it’s that the fans don’t support him. I think alot don’t even know he has a single out and some might just be waiting on the album. Can’t imagine that Kari is mad at the fans over it. She knows how little promo this has gotten. I mean, geez, the only time it was even tweeted from D’s account was at midnight when alot might not be online or check back that far on their timeline when they get up. Not to mention the fans that aren’t even on twitter. I’d say Kari is busy right now and just not online. I think she has other commitments going on at the moment.

  325. Shanny in Australia says:

kim, I guess it is a marker of how much his fanbase has atrophied. In the US at least. I figure those fans still around are buying his music like usual.
And remember it’s just a marker of what’s happening in the US. There is a good chance the filipino fans are still staying strong but of course they can’t download and don’t count in the statistics. Which sucks.

  326. Beth, The Freud, Lloyd, Boyd & Floyd #DA2014 says:

    Goodnight Everyone, Take Care All!

I’m very tired, I’m starting to get
    cranky, so I’m saying G’night.

    small word, says so much.

  327. ksf says:

cq – I just have to say…no one can “put you in your place” if you don’t let them. We’re all adults here and don’t need to be told how to act. Don’t let anyone be “motherly”or condescending to you. (Lol…sorry if that was “motherly.” 😛 )

  328. Candy says:

Ha, Ive never been that delicate! I wasnt a Janis fan for nothing 😉

  329. Shanny in Australia says:

I think there is still enough strength in the fanbase to tour. And the other fans who hung around for 4 years but may have wandered off in the last year…they will be easy to pull back in once he’s back and touring I think. They are fans. Just distracted fans. 😉

  330. booo says:

I look high and I look low where to scroll too ha ha. btv.

  331. booo says:

    sorry ‘scroll to’

  332. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

Ali yup the artist formally known as kimk. I guess that could be it.
you mean not even go online and check what he is up to?
whatever it is I don’t like it.
hope you are right about Kari.

  333. Shanny in Australia says:

Bethy you always have the funniest stories – or at least the ability to make things sound hilarious and fun! 🙂 Sleep well and take care and thank you. 🙂

Abms, thank you. 🙂 Do most people accept it, agree with it? Or is there a difference of opinion over it?

  334. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran!! says:

Ali I’m a scroller as well.

  335. Ali says:

Let’s be honest here. Charting a single on iTunes is not easy, especially when there’s no promo. Expectations have to have some basis in reality. iTunes is a huge “single” seller. The album will actually chart better than this single, you can quote me on that one lol. Albums are a much smaller percentage of iTunes sales. That’s because most people nowdays buy a song here and there as opposed to full albums. Outside of David, I can count on one hand the number of full albums I’ve bought in the past year. And the albums are where David will make more money. So I hope no one is getting super discouraged by the charting of DRA without seeing the full picture.

  336. Ali says:

Well hey, Kimberly Ann — I’m a fan of your new name!! lolol. Scrolling saves lives, legit.

  337. cq#DA2014 says:

Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin Honduran…lovin that name, lol.

  338. Lucy says:

Um maybe we should stop the religion talk since it causes so much discord here. Stick to talking about the album and single and other more fun neutral topics 🙂 Time to bury the horse once again and this time lose the shovel, I don’t know why some keep bringing up these topics when they know what happens. Or maybe that’s precisely why they do, to get reactions and cause trouble, I don’t know, but lets just ignore them next time and not take the bait.

  339. Shanny in Australia says:

My family is hounding me to get them to their grandparents house now….meanwhile hubby is busy banging on his drums lol.
Do I get the award for saying goodbye the most times but not actually going? 😉

  340. Amanda Jane says:

    Hey all!

Wow, I didn’t expect so many comments today! Wowsers…

Sure, I’m sad DRA hasn’t done better than it has but with David gone my expectations were very, very low. I really would’ve like better placement on iTunes, sure, in new releases. But I’ll take this for what it is. It should be an encouragement that it will be released to radio, at least that’s my story today 🙂 and the Matt Clayton pics sure are kickin’.

Side note – I realize all the religious talk can get contentious but sometimes it’s neat to learn a bit more about others…I too was interested in opinions about the Pope’s decision. I’m not Catholic, but I find it all fascinating :).

  341. ATX #DA2014 says:

Does anyone else have a problem commenting on their IPAD using Google Chrome? It will not recognize the Post Comment button when I think I have hit it and I have refresh several times to see if it did indeed post. So frustrating…..

  342. Lucy says:

Oh Kimk, LOVE your new name! It would be fun if for a week we all changed our names to something like yours!

  343. angelbymyside says:

Shanny ~ The majority of Catholics accept his decision given his advanced age and his health concerns. His decision was made carefully and prayerfully…now we await for the selection of our next Holy Father.

  344. cc halo says:

I’m late to the party, tami lyn, but I have a pretty different perspective. David was actually instrumental in converting me and my family TO atheism. Because of him, I looked into Mormonism and found the beliefs really odd, but it was one of the things that started me thinking, “Do my (Christian) beliefs really make more sense? I had to admit they didn’t. It was just how I was raised. If I was born in the Arab world, I’d be one of the nearly two billion believers in Allah. If I was born in ancient Greece, I’d believe in Zeus. If I was born in parts of Africa, I’d believe in the witch doctors.

  345. Lucy says:

I know, my new name should be, Lucy a fan of a Lovable Latino!

  346. cc halo says:

But, on another topic, I’m looking forward to hearing the girls on American Idol! I hope a woman wins this year.

  347. pocoelsy says:

Ali, Thank you and love all your explanations, I’m on the Asia side of the fandom, we always have a hard time download D song on Itunes I always wonder if we could !!can we all be of any help with the charting !! and according to Kari NMHF is not available in Asia…I’m sad I couldn’t help !! I’ll order from Amazon tho but not everyone can afford that ..not everyone has credit card. I love what you said in the last post this is the “Gravy” , hope everyone sticks around to welcome David back as we said in the beginning of his journey 🙂 “We’ll be here”

  348. tami lyn says:

religion keeps coming up because it’s the reason we are all here! trying to find something anything to talk about because DAVID IS GONE ON A MISSION! he brought religion into this, not us and i for one, am just trying to understand why he believes what he believes. i don’t think there is anything wrong with talking about religion. trying to understand other peoples’ religions is a good thing!

  349. tami lyn says:

thanks for sharing cc halo! very interesting! and true, i think it’s whatever we grow up with and then sometimes as adults we start seriously questioning everything.

  350. Kimberly Ann fan of one smokin hot Honduran!! says:

    Lucy I love that one!!

  351. Shanny in Australia says:

Abms, oh thats really good to know. It would be sad if people made it more difficult for him, than it must already be. I figure we can’t even begin to walk in his shoes, know the things he knows, cope with the things he has to cope with etc. We know how hard it was for david to announce to his fans that he was going on a mission, imagine how hard it must be to announce to the whole world that your resigning from leading the Catholic church! Wowza! Definitely not easy. I wish him and his successor well. 🙂

  352. ATX #DA2014 says:

When I was a lot younger, I used to love riding roller coasters. When I had my 2 boys, I could not wait till they were old enough to take them on one. Even though my youngest was just barely tall enough to ride with me his first time, he as so ready. My oldest and 4 years older son was very hesitant. I finally convinced both of them to go with me. I held their hands so hard they thought I was going to break them.

The younger one was ready to ride again right afterwards, while the oldest swore he would not get on another ever again. I asked the younger one, why so anxious? He said, “I loved the rush! But was sad it was over so fast. Did not like waiting in line for another hour to get on, but guess I will cause I cannot get enough of that rush!”

Then, I asked the older one, why he does not want to ride again. He said, “it is all this build up and it is over so fast. My favorite part was when you get to the very top just before you start the big down slope. Why cannot we just stop there and enjoy the view for a while?”

Never thought how that day would come back into my mind after reading the conversations yesterday and today about this path we are all on.

David is 5th on the Ryan poll!!??

  355. Ali says:

pocoelsy – With this release, the only way Asian fans can order and affect any iTunes ranking would be if you had a U.S. (or Canadian) iTunes account. Some Asian fans have them but I’m not sure how they managed to set them up? Then someone could either gift the song to you or, if you had a U.S. iTunes gift card, you could buy it yourself. I assume there are rights issues with releasing outside US/Canada on this album. Maybe they’ll be able to offer it later? Or it might be like Forevermore was for the US, where we had to buy it as an import.

  356. ksf says:

These conversations make things actually interesting and lively around here. Otherwise its other stuff that’s a tad on the boring side.

Ali is there anything that we fans can do to get the message out there to other fans to let them know that he has a single out there? I was on Ytube and some of the comments on David’s MV said that DRA would be going to Itunes on Feb 19th, isn’t that the date that they said it would be on Itunes? Could we have a time for all of us to Buy on Itunes and maybe get other fansites involved? I don’t know, I just feel that he did so much for us before he left, maybe we could do something for him, I know he probably did this just for us, but it still makes me sad.

  360. Amanda Jane says:

cc halo – YES please to a woman winning Idol. Not that there’s anything wrong with the fellas, obviously, it’s just time for a change! We could use another Kelly.

tami “sometimes as adults we start seriously questioning everything” <~~to this I say growing up is hard and so vastly overrated. To me, high school/college seems so much less complicated than life now (I'm in my mid twenties).

  361. sj says:

FYI – I voted on the Ryan poll from twitter when it first came out and then was never able to vote again. Today I tried clearing cookies and cache from google chrome and was able to vote twice this morning before I got the message my vote had already been counted. Tried it again just a minute ago and it let me vote again. Don’t know why it lets me vote again sometimes after clearing and sometimes not, but it’s worth a shot if you’ve got the time.

I’m on an iPad2 on chrome and I haven’t had a problem commenting on here.

  362. tami lyn says:

amanda jane~ yeah i agree, being an adult is highly overrated. almost seems sometimes we would be better off going back to having the simple mindset of a child and seeing the wonder in everyday things and just believing that God will take care of everything.

  363. Amanda Jane says:

Has anyone seen this news about Lady Gaga and her canceling the remainder of her tour due to a hip injury? Geez…as young as she is and needs hip surgery! That’s crazy!

ksf, I’m with you, interesting comments.

  365. Candy says:

Amanda-It was just on the news here, heard she injured her hip during a performance.

  366. sj says:

It does take a bit longer for the comment to post though.

I’m thinking this album is mostly the ATE TOSOD songs they promised they would try to get released in the US with a few “extras” thrown in for the fans. I really don’t think they expected much since he is away. He is so young I’m sure he figures if he hadn’t done AI and had finished school and gone on a mission like he probably always planned he wouldn’t be really starting into his career much sooner anyway, and by having done AI he will always have that extra little recognition to jump start it when he returns. Something he wouldn’t have if he had never done it in the first place. Hope that made sense. Too many words in that last thought, sorry, lol. Think anything that happens now is just gravy, like someone said earlier. Love that he thought about all of this before he left, who else does that!

Have only watched bits and pieces of idol since David but have watched a bit this year and honestly think if they would have stuck with 3 judges like season 7 and earlier it would have been much better. Think ever since they went to 4 it’s become more about the interaction of the judges than the contestants. I could watch Keith Urban all day 😉 barely can make it through listening to Nicki though, just don’t see what she brings to the table her voice alone is so off putting. Even celebrities I don’t care for I can often see the charisma or whatever but I just plain don’t get her. Think Randy, Mariah and Keith would have been a winning combo. Will probably quit watching because of nicki unless a contestant really grabs me but so far, nada.

Thanks sj about the IPAD and Chrome comments.

BTW, my favorite book: Uncle Johns Bathroom Reader. You find out all kinds of interesting information like:

“According to studies, grapefruit scent can make woman as much as 6 years younger to men”

“The real winner: Simon Cowell earned $22,000 a minute on American Idol in 2009.”

BRB – *goes to grocery store*

Ali, thanks again, I used to try to set up the US iTunes account but I find it too complicate for me lol so gifting song is another way to help with the chart and sale, a silly question here !! so someone can gift me a song but how do I recieve it..through my email ?

If someone want to gift me “Don’t Run Away” please let me know, I’m willing to give you my info 😀

sj, I can only vote and tweet on Ryan poll once a day!! it’ ll send me red alert if I attempt to do more, so if we want to see David in the higher ranking more people need to vote ..I think 🙂

  373. pocoelsy says:

ATX , lucy, I have a hard time posting comment on here too!!I’m using my laptop !! yesterday was worse tho !!

Hey guys…..Over 372 posts today….What has been going on in Archuletaland today???…..Just a quick checkin before bedtime….Watched David’s 2010 Manila interview and I just have to say how proud I am of David….He is such a mature and caring young man with a heart of gold. I personally am not worried at all about the success of No Matter How Far. He did this album for us fans and I have no doubt that after his Mission he will get back to his music career and make his mark on the music world……HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE…….Miss Vicki

  375. Ali says:

nora – sorry I don’t know much about fan purchasing campaigns to buy except that they’re usually not hugely effective. I think the focus should really be on the purchasing the album, if we’re gonna really focus on anything though. I mean, obviously I bought the single but I’m not too worried about it’s overall sales. The album is more important. It needs to reach that breakeven point. I think it should.

  376. Ali says:

Happy Valentine’s Day to you too, JR! 🙂

pocoelsy – you would have to have a U.S. iTunes account to redeem the gift. It’s annoying how they have iTunes set up like that now. Amazon is much easier to use for international gifting but they don’t have the single.

  377. Grannycrush says:

pocoelsy I will gift you one. I will need your email address. If you don’t want to post it here, you can ask the FOD staff to send it to me.

  378. Ali says:

Reading back over my posts and realizing apparently my brain is tired lol. I don’t make alot of sense sometimes. :p

  383. Grannycrush says:

pocoelsy I will send it to you when I get your address. I think it explains what to do when you click on the download that I will send you. I have gifted singles and albums to people in Peru and Africa, so I think it works pretty well.

  384. nora says:

good night all it has been a long night. Glad it ended on a David note.

  385. Suzanne says:

Ksf–thx for the link to Straight No Chaser feat. Sara Bareilles. She sounds great.

  386. Suzanne says:

Oh–as for DRA–it’s not going to be downloaded beyond his core fan base unless eOne or KochRecords markets it to AC with some money behind it.

  387. nora says:

suzanne what does that mean, and how do you know that?

  388. pocoelsy says:

I also need helpers to have it be successful like last time. And I really would like to do the silicone event bracelets with help and donations. https://www.facebook.com/events/382326868530068/
