Welcoming, Open Arms
Kalei did a FANTASTIC job reporting on DAvid’s trip to Manila, and I’m here to continue with the love and adoration showered upon to David, Kari and Brady.
First of all, let me post the pictures from David’s instagram post on Sunday, showing his visit on Sunday afternoon (Manila time) to Hold International locations. They are beautiful and moving and show the breadth of David’s love for this organization and the individuals it supports.
David’s words about Holt International, his Nandito Ako Family, Ovation Productions and the Filipino fans are so heartfelt.
Yesterday we went with our friends at Holt Philippines (Holt International) to visit the different foundations they work with, including (going in order of the pictures other than the 1st one) a home for single pregnant mothers that are alone, orphans that they've helped receive scholarships and support, a community school for little kids, and families that have benefited from the schools. As we've been partnering with Holt in our shows, it was amazing and touching to see more hands-on what they do for kids from the beginning of their lives to adulthood. I also got my first tricycle ride with one of the dads of the families we met. The first picture is with my new friend Rafa who rode with us and was sad when we had to leave 😢. He was adopted by one of the staff members that was with us. Holt finds homes for orphans but also prevents that need by strengthening homes and communities. I really hope to adopt a kid someday when I have my own family. Until then I hope to help however I can. Saturday we met with many from the Nandito Ako family! (The mini-series we filmed last time we were here) As we leave the Philippines, I reflect on all these great new memories I'm taking home. The last photo is with some of the Ovation Production crew who took such wonderful care of us! Salamat Philippines!! Until next time! To find out more about Holt, check out Holtinternational.org #philippines #holtinternational #holtphilippines #kaisahangbuhayfoundation
And the pictures from the Instagram.
Sometime you find a place outside of your home, with a groups of friends who are kindred spirits. They get you, they understand you, they appreciate you. They are sad when you leave, they rejoice when you return.
That’s David and the Philippines. I hope he gets to return soon.

And here are some of the videos that go with his visits:
David singing Crush!
David talks to the youth leaders about their stories
David sings Jingle Bells!
David sings Angels to a family. I love how he asks Brady is he knows Robbie Williams’ Angels <3
More from Kia Theater!
Kalei posted ALOT last week from Manila, including all songs. I picked up a few more odds and ends that continue to tell the story of the great night.
I asked some fans if they missed the full band. They did not because the sound was so good! Incredible and a testament to the venue organizers!
File under “David giving the fans what they want”. So cheeky of David to play right into their hands, or, is it the other way around?

Finally after six years, David is back on the Philippine concert scene. 😁 . Words are not enough to express how David got so much better. From his pure voice to his meaningful songs, the long wait is totally worth it. David will always have a special place in the hearts of his Filipino fans. 😁 #LodiNumber1 . Nice to see you too Ate @jodeebarcelon, Tita Lola Ganda and Pikachu. Hehe. 😁

Beautiful words to wrap things up <3
Over and over we have read so much on social media about the excitement of David’s return to the Philippines. When I read Katrina’s IG, she summarized everything so well.
Have a read!
After six years of patiently waiting, the man David Archuleta finally went back to Manila 🇵🇭 Went solo on one of the most special moments in my life. 🌟 Backtrack, I was about to buy tickets but then out of nowhere, I won two tickets from a media page. My favorite part has to be the surprise My Kind of Perfect performance on keyboard, and the Parachutes and Airplanes-Thunder mash-up 😍 From seeing him audition at American Idol (btw his auditioning number is my birthday), to attending book and album singings, and finally meeting him in person, I've always been a huge supporter of this dude. Probably the most genuine and generous person I know. Always true to himself, never too proud, and always caring about other people. Years after, he's still the same person — heart and soul beaming with so much kindness. 💓 I really wanted to be nearer but the fact that I'm staying in Utah (45 minutes from his home town!) for a year in 2018 is really something I'm looking forward too ❤❤❤ Oh, and that dude in the last pic, who is he? Lol . . . . #DALIM4 #DAVIDARCHULETA #love #music #concert #philippines #postcardsinthesky #theothersideofdown #ovationsproduction #kiatheater
An evening to remember
On the Saturday evening, there was a Nandito Ako reunion of sorts! Good time, and good food, and good singing, was had by all!
Again, love Kari’s hair!
A wonderful night filled with many new memories that we'll take with us as we go our separate ways. Godspeed David, Kari and NA family! pic.twitter.com/UBWQlwBsy6

Karaoke with @davidarchie is an unfair advantage. However I still think I took the night with @donnyosmond "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan. However everyone was grabbing their hearts when David sang duets on "A Whole New World" and "No Air" by @jordinsparks I still think I won 😜#karaoke #manila
And a great set of comments:
- suttygal Hahaha! Love this, @bradybillsand @davidarchie !! Wish you would have posted this before you were done so I could have replied “it didn’t happen unless we see the video! “<-oops! Guess I said it!😜Hey @karisellards ! Can you help us out with this one? Is there recorded proof ? 🙏🏼😘😬#PorFavor #wouldlovethat #justforfun
- bradybills @suttygal there are only two places in Manila where cell phones are not live streaming or taking selfies . 1 – the LDS temple 2 – that karaoke room haha

Seriously, isn’t she the cutest???? And love her humour. So, tell us “About Last Night” , won’t you??? 😉

Some fantastic articles on the Visit!!!

Who has not seen at least a single episode of American Idol? For the last decade and a half, the long-running talent competition has been fulfilling dreams and changing lives; paving way for the birth of other talent shows, and jumpstarting careers for hopefuls with a phenomenal range of talent. The iconic show gave rise to some of today’s biggest music acts, like Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, and Carrie Underwood. And of course, who could ever forget about the charming and dashing David Archuleta – the youngest aspirant during Season 7 who moved us with his valiant fight to overcome vocal paralysis and pursue his passion for music? Most definitely not his army of Pinoy Archies! Roughly six years since his last visit to the country, the news of David’s return to the Philippine shores had his fans rushing to the airport to welcome him. Throughout his buzzing week, his Archies had shown him an overwhelming amount of support wherever he went in Manila; from his press conference, to his guestings, and finally, down to his much-awaited comeback concert in the Kia Theatre last October 20, 2017.
Setting up an exciting mood as a front act for the big night was none other than Tippy Dos Santos. Even without the aid of heavy drumbeats or bopping backtracks to prop up her set, the Filipino-American singer/actress had the audience transfixed effortlessly with her pitch-perfect vocals that complemented her song choices for the evening, including ‘Torn’, ‘Torete’, ‘Million Reasons’, and a one-woman version of the double platinum record ‘Dati’.
When the lights dimmed again in preparation for the main event, people started cheering for David long before he even emerged from backstage. The over exuberant crowd didn’t need further urging to get up from their seats when the first songs ‘Up All Night’, ‘Something About Love’, and ‘Numb’ rolled in, and the dynamic David Archuleta finally graced the stage with a huge smile on his face. Prepped with high notes and groovy dance moves, he had everyone in the house jumping and singing in a matter of seconds. He was one big ball of life in the limelight: darting to and fro the stage with much ease and expertise that it’d been hard to believe he even took a break as a music craftsman at all.
Despite already being an acclaimed star, it was heartwarming to see that David was still as humble and as down to earth as when he first started his career. He thanked his fans profusely every chance he could, generating a collection of ‘awws’ from the audience at one point when he opened up about his struggles in returning as an artist, following his voluntary missionary work in Santiago, Chile. “For a while I didn’t know I could. And to see all of you here tonight, it just really touches my heart,” he had said sincerely, voice quaking as he fought back his tears. “I’m so grateful for all of you. Thank you, Philippines. Mahal ko kayo!”
As a special treat, he dished out some of the newer songs from his latest album, ‘Postcards in the Sky’, which was coincidentally released on the same day. Through fresh tracks like ‘Invincible’ and ‘Spotlight Down’, David exhibited a more mature aspect of himself as a lyricist, unveiling his stories through emotionally-evoking pop and ballad symphonies. Overwhelmed by the crowd’s energy that didn’t falter even during the slow songs, David proudly claimed, “The best singers I know are Filipinos!”, and got the chance prove this later on when he asked the crowd to sing portions of ‘Rainbow’ and ‘Forevermore’ on his stead, as well as when he invited Tippy out on stage once more to perform ‘You Are My Song’ as a duet.
For his encore, emotions ran high when David barely made it through ‘Nandito Ako’ without tearing up, but managed to wrap the song beautifully; pronouncing each word so naturally like Filipino had been his native tongue all along. To cap off the night, David went absolutely all out performing ‘Crush’, the 2008 classic that landed on countless music charts during its days, and may have very well been the soundtrack to most of the audience’s high school ‘kilig’ days. By the end of the nostalgic track, a breathless David took a few more moments to thank his Filipino fans again with a final modest bow.
Just like the last times he’d been here, David Archuleta left yet another spectacular concert experience in his track, proving himself to be an idol certainly worth waiting for.
Thank you to Ovation Productions for the coverage invite. Congratulations on another successful event!
Our good pal Salamahafifi aka Fifi flew all the way from Indonesia to see David. And it was a memorable encounter!

Mark Franklin weighs in!
Apparently, a digital download isn’t enough for lots of David Archuleta fans who had waited for years for a new album from the Season 7 American Idol favorite.
A day after David released “Postcards in the Sky,” Amazon.com was already sold out of physical copies of the new 16-track CD.
It was listed as one of the site’s best sellers, along with an assurance that more physical CDs are on the way.
And on iTunes, the album was still number 28 on the pop chart and number 95 on the overall albums chart two days after its release.
“Postcards in the Sky” is the first album since 2013 for David. It features the songs from the “Leo” and “Orion” EPs he released earlier this year and also features eight new songs.
Among the highlights, a lovely duet called “Seasons” with former Voice contestant Madilyn Paige.
David let fans know how much he appreciated their patience and dedication via a video on Facebook.“It has taken a lot of time,” he said of the new album. “I can’t thank you enough — you fans who have waited all these years — with my mission and the time after to find what was in my head and what was in my heart and allow the time for me to connect to it so I could write about it and allow you guys to connect to it too.”
David performed in the Philippines on release date but is back in the states this week with two shows scheduled in Pennsylvania.
He’ll be performing at The Sellersville Theater on Wednesday and at Club Cafe in Pittsburgh the following night.
You can check out all the upcoming tour dates on his Facebook page.

Postcards In the Sky Reactions
I was hoping to start a track by track reaction to these beautiful tracks. I spent the weekend in the park and raking leaves listening to nothing but the CD. Some tracks I played over and over, some I listened to but did not do the click-click-click on my Apple earbuds to hear them again. And for some, I struggled while I listened, sobbed and gasped for air while jogging up a hill. Not a good idea.
I have some things to say, but I want to say them right. I will post a few tracks at a time during the week. It will be just one person’s perspective of course. And we invite you to add your own thoughts in comments.
More to come.
Millenial Chisme posted their reaction! I love their enthusiasm! And how they groove to the songs …
I gotta say, I agreed with many of their reactions. They started off focusing on melodies and vocals but quickly moved to lyrics. They had a technical difficulty so you don’t see all the reactions but they reacted to Postcards in the Sky, Invincible, Say Me, Upset with Me, Waiting in the Stars, Seasons (which they loved!), Cracks of Heaven and Shine a Light.
They talked of chills, goosebumps, heart palpatations.
Please go over and listen and LIKE and SUBSCRIBE! I can’t wait for their reaction to the concert in Chicago!!!!
