Aloha Archies! Let’s start off your Saturday with not one, but five lead pics! Why? Because WE CAN! This Manila tour has blessed us with an embarrassment of riches in the form of fan pics & vids – so let’s enjoy the wealth and celebrate an over-the-top-amazing concert tour!

Manila Memories

Before the ArchuBlues start hitting us too hard, there’s still plenty to enjoy about this wonderful Manila Tour. It was billed as a single concert, but in reality it was a week-long celebration of David’s return to the Phils after six long years.

Packed with TV appearances, interviews and fan functions, our ArchuCups truly runneth over! Here’s a roundup of items that didn’t make it into the earlier posts – cause we don’t want to miss a thing!

The Vids

Since every single fan in the Philippines owns a hi-def magic camera, we have been blessed with an abundance of concert footage from fans in the front row to those whose vantage point gave them an overhead view of the stage. Here’s a sampling of what’s out there, though there are far too many vids to post here – check You Tube, Twitter, IG and FB for threads chock-full of amazing vids! Grab a drink and some snacks, cause it’s going to be awhile!

I love this vid from Mykapalaran that captured the reunion of David and Kari with the cast of Nandito Ako. It has the long anticipated hug between David and Jasmine as they meet again after six years!

This snippet of Rainbow features David’s amazing vocals and you can see Joey – the guest musician on the keyboards.

Thunder snippet featuring the masterful guitar solo of Brady Bills:

The set list featured 18 songs (19 if you count the mashup as 2 songs) consisting of 5 new songs from Postcards in the Sky, 7 older “fan favorites”, 3 covers and 4 OPM songs. We’re going to share a sampling of the vids available across social media, so please feel free to check out fan You Tube, twitter and IG accounts for more!

All these vids show that the Phils fans know all the words to every single song! And when David forgets some words for a moment, the fans assist him by singing along!

Would love to know how this adventure for Spanish food turned out – was David recognized? Was he mobbed? Did Kari have to save him? Did Brady get any Jollibee chicken? Inquiring minds want to know!

Postcards In The Sky – Fan Reactions

Sellersville Fan Lunch Update

Sellersville is up next! October 25th the Leo/Postcards Tour starts back up in the USA, and there’s an update for the fan lunch:

Well that’s a wrap for Manila Memories – it’s been a wild and crazy week full of fun and good times for the Pinoy fans! Philippines you did the fandom proud and David was so happy he was actually glowing! The bar has been raised! So when David returns to the USA to continue his tour, Archies need to show up and REPRESENT!

Start learning the words to all the songs on Postcards in the Sky, because when David holds out that mic to the audience, we all want to sing along!

Question: Were Jasmine and David rocking twin denim jackets?

  1. Seven7Swans says:

Sorry, I haven’t been paying a lot of attention lately. Postcards in the Sky is released on Archie Music instead of Highway Records and, therefore, not for sale in
the Deseret Bookstore. Can that be right? I really don’t know who is advising him…just shaking my head.

    • kimk says:

no clue but why does Deseret only take their own stuff? is David just an lds artist?

as for support.. just cause David is lds why they buy his stuff?

      • Seven7Swans says:

I don’t know that they “only take their own stuff.” I was asking. The Deseret Bookstore has carried his music for a long time, and the sales there have been good. His CDs were often on the best sellers list for many months. There are no brick and mortar stores that carry his CD and I saw a tweet that Amazon was out.

As for support, what’s wrong with supporting your hometown guy? Football teams do it all the time, etc.

        • kimk says:

nothing wrong with it just way you put it like it had to be their label. if they don’t carry it eventually.. hmm.. 🤔

        • Janel aka Nellie says:

Deseret Book has the Orion CD (not sure if Leo was ever sold in CD form), so maybe they will get copies of Postcards In the Sky. They’ve carried every CD David has ever made or been a part of so I’m thinking they’ll get this one too. It’s only a day after it released. I’m betting they will.

  2. Seven7Swans says:

Also, sending David a lot of postcards? Why? I know that’s so literal and everything.

    • missbianca says:

Dunno if you’ll see this, but I wonder about the postmarks on those postcards. I remember a campaign to send postcards to David’s fan mail address just after he started his mission.

  3. kimk says:

postcards are old school.. but then again so is David. Filipinas are cute. we are planning on bringing postcards for the fan lunch personally I don’t send him things anymore but that is just me. did buy the cd on Amazon and hope to buy a physical copy in Nashville.

if you are looking for better sales.. well would think if David did even a wee bit of promo kind of like what he did in the Philippines promotion sure folks would buy more. least I think they would anyway. doesn’t really matter to me all that much happy as a clam here great heartfelt cd great time in Manila. wfm.

  4. Janel aka Nellie says:

    David Archuleta-Postcards In the Sky

I’m sitting here finding the need to put my feelings of this album out there, something I’ve never done with any of David’s other albums. I’m not really sure why I’ve never done this before, maybe it’s because this album is so different than anything else he’s done. They are all his songs and all are raw, from his heart, sincere and beautiful. They aren’t covers and though some are co-written, they are still his songs.
Note that these aren’t in the order they are on the CD. I have it on shuffle right now, so I’ll talk about whatever song comes up first, second, and so on.

    Upset With Me:
I can’t help but wonder as I know other fans do as well, what David went through to write such a sad song. Maybe we could speculate that it was his management, a family member, a friend, a girlfriend or even fans. Maybe all of the above even, but I have a feeling regarding the story behind this, that David will keep it to himself. It is so sad, causing the listener to cry even, but it’s so beautiful as well. The emotion connects so well and is probably relatable to so many people, or at least parts of it. It strikes chords in our hearts and causes us to reflect on similar things that have happened in our own lives.

    Waiting In the Stars:
I’m getting a vibe of telling others to not give up on their lives and to not feel like there’s nothing else out there for them. Stand up for what you believe in. It’s hard sometimes when you have a belief system (whatever you believe in) and to have the sticks and stones of other’s words and actions to bring you down and away from what you believe in. Have faith that you have a story yet to live, and yet to tell.

David has explained this pretty well, especially in his interviews as of late in the Philippines. Everyone is at the deepest wars with themselves. We really can be our own worst enemies. We sometimes have to step back and stop overthinking things. We don’t have to be invincible, or tough. It’s OK to put our guard down and be a little vulnerable. When we stumble and fall, we should brush ourselves off and try again. Our trials are meant for our learning and understanding.

    Shine A Light:
Don’t hide your problems, worries, and cares. Don’t sweep them them under the rug and hope they’ll go away. Face them and bring them to light. Know things we’ll get better and that you’re better and bigger than the problems you face. There is really light at the end of the tunnel. If you ignore your problems, they will fester and build. Talk about what you’re going through to someone, anyone.

    Other Things in Sight:
This is basically as we know, David needing his space to create how he wanted, and not what the world was telling him to do. He was being pulled in so many directions that he wanted others to not have that control of him. He wanted to make his own mistakes and learn from them on his own terms and in his own time.

    Someone to Love:
Again, another song David has told us about. It’s the people on his mission who this song is about. To realize everything wasn’t about him or how many records he sold or how many likes or follows on social media, but about serving others. You can see how much he lights up when someone asks him about his mission experience. He loves the Chilean people and he misses the experience and wants to go back to visit.

    Seasons (feat. Madilyn Paige)
I’m still trying to figure this one out. It does sound like heartbreak. How people change through the seasons and years and we find ourselves not the same as we used to be. Even relationships change as we all now. There’s also the sense of repeating the same things in a relationship, or starting again and putting the heartbreak on repeat.

    Cracks of Heaven:
This sounds like a song of the loss of a friend, a family member or someone else you love. When you don’t feel like you can go on without them, then you see them and feel them in everything you see, in the sky, in the midnight air, in the people you encounter. The knowledge that you’ll see them again through the cracks of heaven when the journey of your own life ends, brings peace and comfort.

    Up All Night:
Another song which we know the meaning to. David found a family in Tennesee who he spent time with in a place where social media wasn’t found, and he could just set the cares of the world aside. They treated him like a member of the family and he felt a sense of belonging. I think not just with this family, but in Tennesee as well. And of course he was up all night thinking about all the sights, sounds and experiences this family gave him. So he wrote this wonderful song and shared those feelings with the world.

    Aiming For Hope:
A ray of hope can be found at the end of dispair, depression, and loneliness. When those dark feelings seem to surround you and there seems to be no end to them, there is hope. You can talk to others, you can tell them how you feel. You don’t have to go through anything alone. Let yourself reach out to them and help pull you through.

    Spotllight Down:
David has of course told us he doesn’t like the spotlight on him. He’s in a place more comfortable to him, without the spotlight or in the spotlight on his terms. He is his own person now, without all the puppet strings of different people pulling him in different directions, being told what to do, etc. Again, where he could breathe and create when and how he wants.

A Little Goes A Long Way:
First of all, wow, what a fun upbeat song to move to! Again, he’s talking about stepping back from being on the go all the time, doing so much and doing everything for everyone. Taking little steps. The scripture he likes to quote, “that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass”, you can hear in this song. A little goes a long way. You don’t have to give everything you have all at once.

David has explained this as well. It all came from deciding not to do music anymore. But it took a session with some writers to make him realize he did want to do music, and to therapeutically get there, he needed to write a song about these feelings. Numb therefore became the catalyst of the other 15 songs (and maybe more, who knows) on the album. He realized that he calls the shots on how he wants his life, music and career to go. He doesn’t have to feel numb to continue music.

    Say Me:
When things in this world aren’t going right for you, when you’ve lost hope, please turn to me or “say me”, choose me as the person to lean on. But also, you need to say “me” as in yourself. That you need to take that step to admit that you need help. Don’t be afraid to say “me”.

    Postcards in the Sky:
I look at this as prayer. Asking God for love, for your dreams to happen, for peace and hope in the world. Just as simple as that.

    I’m Ready:
David was ready for his mission. For that change. He needed to go even if the world stopped watching him and people stopped caring about him. He couldn’t see what would happen after he returned from his mission, or around the bend where his music career would go, or if he’d even have a career. And of course his friend Annie who passed away, we can hear her at the end of the song. David added it as a dedication to her and her family. Her words are so poignant and perfect for what David was trying to say. This is what he was going to do after his mission. This is what direction he wanted to take his life, one step at a time with one foot in front of the other, and seeking for others to support him on his decision and be by his side.

-Thinking about the album as a whole and about the person who created it, our idol David, it’s no wonder why we adore this young man. I feel that more than any other songs he has ever written, these songs really show us the real David. How strong of a person he is to go through all he has, yet he can be so sensitive to the feelings of others. We get a sense of the things he went through as to understand him and connect with him on a deeper level. But also how relatable he is as a person, how we can relate to him and things he’s been through with things in our own lives.

A personal note to David; Thank you David for putting your heart, soul and your everything into these songs. They are beautiful and you can tell the time and care you put into each one. I’ve tried pinpointing one song I love the most but decided instead I have 16 new favorites songs. God bless you David and I look forward to what lies ahead. ~Janel Woodbury, Pleasant Grove, Utah

    • Janel aka Nellie says:

I know the above are just my opinion on what the songs mean. I may be right or may be way off base. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

      • Seven7Swans says:

I haven’t listened to the songs except for those released on the EPs. I do wonder why if he’s so happy now with everything his way, etc., he’s releasing these types of songs about things that happened 5+ years ago. To me, there are more puzzle pieces that just don’t fit.

        • Seven7Swans says:

Also, I don’t relate to quite a few of the songs. Take “Invincible” for example. I’ve never in my life felt that I had to be invincible or perfect or anything like that. It’s just weird to me. As for “Spotlight” and “Numb,” 99.5 percent of the population wants to be famous or, at least, get widespread recognition for their work. We have people putting their lives all over social media. Again, not relatable.

        • GrammyJ says:

Seven7Swans, you must be an extrovert. As an introvert these songs are very relatable to me. To me these songs are his very best. There is no music that everyone will like. I LOVE these songs and I’ve seen glowing accolades from his fans.

      • SKMcM says:

    • Seven7Swans says:

Your comments are unfortunate in the light of David’s comments in the Philippines about mental health issues.

      • Seven7Swans says:

“Say Me” is my favorite song of those on the two EPs BTW. I choose to interpret it as I want to, though, depending on the mood I’m in. Best wishes to you, Ray. I know you’re a very loyal fan. So am I, believe it or not.

  6. VaBeachJudy says:

Thanks Kalei for the Manila Memories post! INCREDIBLE! What an EPIC visit for David and Brady in the Philippines! So much love and support! HUGE thanks to JR4DA, Naree,Archuleta Philippines, Pinoy Archies, Ovation Productions and all the fans that have contributed the vids and pics! YOU GUYS ROCK! ❤

As to David doing things HIS way and releasing HIS music on HIS Archie Music seems like a WIN WIN situation to me! More control and less hands in his pocket!

Hope everyone is ENJOYING their day! Postcards In The Sky and the Manila Tour vids are a sure way to make you SMILE! 🙂

  7. kimk says:

seven well there are folks etc who go at you give you the impression you are not good enough no matter what you do.. always strive for perfection. dunno like trying to be like Jesus? pretty impossible there. got no idea why or what he went thru but he did say he was bullied and abused.

    • Seven7Swans says:

It’s just a big puzzle to me and I’m tired of going around in circles about it. David used to be my “happy place” pretty much. I stayed in the same job and really didn’t care what was going on because I was so into David stuff. As a result, I received promotion after promotion. I should really thank him for that. I used to jump from career to career, go back to school, etc., because I was so bored.

I do remember that his vocal coach called him the day after he sang “Imagine” and told him they had a lot of work to do, that David wasn’t “vocally perfect.” I believe this interview is on the mission documentary.

Who knows? Like I said, I’m tired of trying to figure it out.

Invincible is one of my favorites because I do related to it, it’s not about being perfect or invincible but being your own worst enemy and learning to find peace within yourself. The chorus, “Take a breath, look at how you think it to death”, that’s what I do a lot, over think everything,.

David looks fabulous in every picture! It appears he is having the time if his life there. Thanks for the great review of the songs on David’s new album, Janel! The album is fabulous. My only regret is that it most likely won’t be heard by a wide audience since it was independently released. It is so goood that I want everyone to hear it.

  27. GrammyJ says:

I think David wrote “Upset With Me” for Seven7 Swans. Just kidding but he really doesn’t seem to do anything that pleases her/him. That’s okay. Everyone has critics. David has said you can’t please everyone.

  28. Steven says:

Do you think David wrote his song: “Upset With Me” to explain his relationship with father?

I am attending the upcoming concert in Cincinnati on Friday, October 27. In addition to the concert (2 of us are attending from Columbus, Ohio) I also have a meet and greet ticket.

Nowhere on the printed tickets that I have does it say anything about the time of the meet and greet.

Is anyone else going to David’s Cincinnati concert and if so, do you know the time for the meet and greet?

I have called the venue a few times, but no answer so far.

Thanks very much for your help!
