WELCOME TO FANS OF DAVID! HOORAY!
Since January, my world has changed. Not only has David Archuleta shepherded music back into my life and inspired me to pursue creative endeavors with his extraordinary gift (and with the essence of who he is); he has been the catalyst for the nurturing of many new friendships. I cannot tell you how many phenomenal Archies, Arch Angels, and David fans of other names I have met online, and a few of them have become truly close friends; people to whom I turn daily for serious discussions about music, fangirly discussions about–well–fangirly things, and for support with that everyday real life stuff.
That is why we are so thrilled that you have chosen to follow us here: we’re going to create some magic on this site: exclusive interviews, endless chats, fan stories and pictures, David Archuleta news and features and artwork, and most importantly, a safe haven for fans to discuss and celebrate David and each other! Thank you so much for joining us in the creation of this fan home. We envision this fan family staying connected for a long, long time as we witness David’s artistry blossom and his career unfold.
A sincere thanks to Richard Parkinson for starting this fansite, and a special thanks to Miss Mary who has worked long hours and pulled many all-nighters to get the website on its feet. We are still tweaking, so be patient while we create and refine. Just thank you so much for being here today. It means the world to us.

One of the first posts from Jenny …
David Archuleta Will Always be Our American Idol!
“Just hopefully, I will do my best, and that will be enough for them.”
David, you will always be enough for your fans.
Our love for you is unconditional.
David, we are so incredibly proud of you! We are inspired, fulfilled, and deeply thankful for the gift you share with us. We are so privileged to witness the genesis of a superstar-of a “deeply connected artist at the beginning of his journey.”
David left every bit of himself on the stage last night. Paula hailed his performances as “beautiful and stunning,” Randy raved that David is “exactly what this show is all about,” and Simon acknowledged that “what we have witnessed is a knockout.” David’s own reflections about his performance were thoughtful, heart-felt, and wise: “It’s not always about winning. It’s about doing your best.”
We would be remiss to not thank the fans! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ARCH ANGELS/ARCHIES who have devoted hours upon hours over the past four months in the cause to ensure that this remarkable young prodigy-the young man with the luminous, breathtaking vocals, the stunningly vulnerable performances, and the sincere, guileless, selfless nature-advance to the Finale of American Idol. Fans toiled for endless hours on discussion boards and in chat rooms devising plans to get out the vote. Donations were made to purchase GoPhones and to help defray travel costs for family and friends. Gifts and letters were sent to David, who often took time out of his insanely hectic schedule to respond with a kind note. Family friends such as Brett Kane Hales and Richard Parkinson took the remarkable step of connecting with fans and drawing them into the Archuleta fold, making them feel a part of the family.
The journey has been a life-changing one for many: steadfast friends have been made and so many lives-more than we really will ever know-have been blessed by the magic that is David Archuleta. During Homecoming, while trying to process the sheer enormity of the love of his fans, David choked out, “I just can’t thank them enough. It makes it all worth it, knowing how many people appreciate all of the hard work I’ve been doing for this.”
We’re at the beginning of new journey now! David, we are overjoyed at the prospect of things to come-the American Idols Live Tour, your first CD, the David Archuleta concert tours, and quite simply, the entirety of what will be a long and brilliant musical career. We can’t wait to revel in your success with you, to witness your immense talent and dedication to your craft, a magnificent gift for which you are neither proud nor ambitious, but grateful and humbled.
IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE! LET’S HEAR IT FOR DAVID ARCHULETA,
WHO IS AND WILL FOREVER REMAIN IN OUR HEARTS, A TRUE AMERICAN IDOL.

And one of the mos infamous posts that had us commenting for weeks. I looked through many of our posts, and it was not unusual for some posts to have thousands of comments. We have them all on our old back ups, one day I should restore them!
Confessions of a Ledge-Walker – August 27, 2008
Kevin (idolfreakXD) created this beautiful graphic and presented it to David and Jeff Archuleta in Tampa. They loved it, of course! Thanks for sharing this with us, Kevin. It really got to me…
I was driving home from work a few days ago and listening to “Crush” over and over and over in that obsessive-compulsive manner of mine that is only endearing to those who love me. It suddenly occurred to me that since the commencement of “Crush” I had forsaken David Archuleta’s American Idol performances. At the next red light (okay, it wasn’t a red light; I was driving down the road at 60 miles per hour) I spun my finger around my iPod until I hit the “Archie AI” playlist, cranked up the volume, and started with his original audition of “Heaven,” working my way forward to the Finale. By the time I hit “Love Me Tender” (my favorite AI performance of his, by the way: the yearning, the ache in his voice…the intuitive nature of his phrasing that that still makes me catch my breath in anticipation…the way he stares into the camera and peels back the layers of each one of us until our adolescent souls are laid bare…); by the time I reached that song I was a hot mess. I called Becky and blubbered something incoherent, and she did a valiant job talking me off the ledge.
You see, Archies are ledge-walkers: we care so deeply–we are so invested in this young man–that we frequently fly the freak flag and engage in tasks like compulsive voting on obscure polls and obsessive tracking of radio airplay of “Crush” in the Alaskan wilderness. I have always prided myself on not being a ledge-walker: “trust the Archuleta–believe in him–don’t take his success upon yourself” I say over and over. “He will be a superstar on his own merits.” But I’m the worst offender of all, and for the worst of all possible reasons.
I’m selfish. I’m on the ledge NOT because I doubt that David Archuleta will succeed, and it’s NOT because the tour is ending soon and I’m afraid that you will all go away. I will always have something to write about when it comes to David. I could write a daily blog about David every day for the rest of my life. Those are not the concerns that are sending me to my precarious perch on this ledge. Watch out…here it comes…I’m inching to the edge here…
I have concluded that I am ambivalent about David’s soon-to-be status as a superstar because we will lose him. David Archuleta is going to be wildly, unimaginably famous–not just for a few years and not just for a fickle teenage fanbase: we are witnessing the inception of a life-long storied career. He’s going to be a musical legend rubbing shoulders with Frank Sinatra and Paul McCartney and Elvis (now that would be a party). He’s going to win Grammys. Everyone will love him. He will have millions and millions of fans.
And therein lies my wistfulness. He will no longer belong to us, the rabid fanbase who each bought 32 copies of “Crush” on iTunes and talked about David Archuleta to whomever would listen. The fans who spent hours on fansites writing and fangirling and trying to describe the incandescent eyes and the voice that restores and exalts and inspires. The fans who voted on five different phones and dialidol for five months straight. The fans who have watched every single performance of every single concert on YouTube and find something blissful and unprecendented in each one. He won’t be ours anymore…he won’t be accessible by the buses, will he? He won’t be able to jog out and sign autographs and give hi-fives, will he? Will we be able to get backstage passes and talk to him and laugh with him and watch him juggle Sharpies and hug him? See? I’m about to jump.
With David’s impending success there is a sense of exhilaration and anticipation tempered with…well, with a sense of loss. That’s selfish, I know. Can you all talk me down? Or are you feeling the same way? And now that I’ve written all of this, I realize that what his family and friends must be feeling is a version of this, magnified a thousandfold.

Modern Day Ledgewalker update
I read this over again and things have changed alot over 9 years, but some things have also stayed the same. David’s access to fans in the early days was unprecedented. David bent over backwards to be accessible and available, and we are now aware of how difficult some of that was for him. My heart aches sometimes knowing that. The more liberal access to David backstage and by buses has been replaced by well orchestrated VIPs and private M&Gs. Boundaries have been established which is, in my opinion, necessary to protect David’s privacy. And although he has had success, it’s not at the Elvis / Frank Sinatra level (yet) that Jenny had considered. And we are also aware that David doesn’t measure his success that way, and nor should we.
But definitely our commitment to his music, promoting it and our celebrating his performances hasn’t wavered. Our need to find snippets of him singing or answering fan questions hasn’t changed. We still marvel at his wit and charm which has matured, but remains endearing. We applaud every foray into the unchartered for David, because we understand, since David shared this with us, that each step can be difficult for him. And we still want his success, but its not in the traditional sense necessarily – but in a way that is meaningful to him.
Most of all, we want David to be happy, because David has made it abundantly clear that notoriety and mainstream success does not give him happiness. There is much more to David than we saw back in 2008. There is a deeper, spiritual, cerebral and emotional David who is driven by more than the external. And those of us who understand that, not only for David, but for ourselves as well, are still here. There are fewer of us, and some of us are new, but we know a good thing when we see it.
So on our 9th birthday, let’s celebrate the new-age ledge walkers. It’s a great ride, isn’t it?

Some things change, some things stay the same
In reading these early posts, 9 years ago, so much has changed. For me, I have much less time to spend on David pursuits. In the olden days I’d create a mega birthday post, complete with links and commentary and interviews and vids. So at RL swallows me up, allow my to finish off this post instead with a picture from our FOD media files (which are massive and our host says we have to do something about them!) from August of each year since we have been here (other than the mission years):

So Happy Birthday to all of us
Direct quotes from Jenny’s welcome message in August 2008:
… we are so thrilled that you have chosen to follow us here: we’re going to create some magic on this site: exclusive interviews, endless chats, fan stories and pictures, David Archuleta news and features and artwork, and most importantly, a safe haven for fans to discuss and celebrate David and each other! Thank you so much for joining us in the creation of this fan home. We envision this fan family staying connected for a long, long time as we witness David’s artistry blossom and his career unfold.
I hope we have done that for all of you: we have endeavoured to interview band members especially in the past year, associated artists and others who can provide some insight into the David world. Although no longer operational, our evening chats where we played all sorts of music and providing an open place for conversation, save the trolls we needed to zap occasionally, were tons of fun. We pride ourselves in fan stories and actively seek them out (sorry for pestering you concert-goers!) so those who cannot go to concerts can share the experience. We do our best to provide you David news as soon as we know about it on Twitter and Facebook (David from Texas is a sleuth and incredibly talented in finding info and getting it out) and then summarize here. We love the talent of David fans, and showcase creativity in our posts. When we have had physical CDs, we have helped to bring them to those who wanted them through gifting programs thanks to generous fans. And many of you have been incredibly open in giving to numerous charitable events posted here.
Regarding our offerings, we have branched out to a fabulous FB page that mimics what we have here, but allows you to share and comment on each feature. It looks fabulous – Thank you DFT!!! We are also on Pinterest, Periscope and Instagram but have yet to utilize these social media fully. But we save alot of David’s instagram stories to our Youtube account so those of you who cannot access can often find them them there And check out out our links on our sidebar and feel free to PIN anything you see here! We will soon link to all of our videos in the sidebar too. More freshening up to our site in store 🙂
And we do this, this volunteer job, in order to offer a site and FB page that we feel is celebratory and respectful of the artist, does not intrude into David’s personal life if he hasn’t shared it. It should also be celebratory and respectful of each of you as well. Admittedly don’t always have a 100% success rate, but we do indeed try. I think Joanie, Kalei and I keep that summary of Jenny’s front and centre in what we post for you, although honestly, I was floored at how accurate it still is today. Celebration and respect are always paramount, as well as making it all fun. We were even part of a fab fan gathering last year that drew the attention of the man himself so we do know how to party lol!
So on the occasion of our 9th birthday, let’s take that celebration part to heart and toast to David and to all of you!

When “Up All Night” has a literal meaning
Poor David has jet lag. Not surprising! Hong Kong is 12 hours ahead of EDT, and David and Kari had all of those delays. Shanelle recorded David’s IG story

and from that, this clever edit from Omar. I’m still laughing!

That’s is for me! If things are quiet next week, we are considering vacay where we post at the start of the week and just update as needed. We will see!
Have a great weekend folks! Hope you can have some cake!
