Canada has already celebrated our official Thanksgiving but yo don’t need a celebratory day to pause and express thanks for those people that you are thankful to have in your life. Sadly it’s too often a sideways turn, a close call, a tragic event that happens to a friend, that jolts us into the reality that we need to park any negative tendancies that often creep in and reflect on the positive.
For those taking the time to read this, one unifying factor that we can all agree we are extremely thankful for is the artistry of David Archuleta. Everyone has their own series of reasons to be a fan. Some of us can define them clearly, some of us cannot. Often there is an intangeable feeling, emotion, connection that can’t be put into words easily. I feel blessed and thankful to be able to travel for a live concert 5 year wait, thankful that there were no crises at work, my kids are independent enough to have me go, and wise and supportive enough to encourage me to go, and that I had good friends with which to share the experience (and LV accomodation ~ tx Lala). Those events are rejuvenating and reaffirming; and they provide clarity regarding those thankful intangeables. I’m thankful for family, good friends, great fellow MODs with Joanie, Kalei and DTF, good health, my country, my neighbours to the south, a challenging and exciting worklife and the continued ability to dream sky high.
And I’m thankful for all of you for coming here, supporting us and who have the patience of reading what we write. Add your thanks in comments. I promise you, it’s a good thing to type it out.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving all!

A Family Love Letter
Read this all the way through. Wow, made me cry. On Thanksgiving, David shows his vulnerability through an instagram about how his siblings have supported him. And he lists what he sees as his faults in the process. No words here. David encourages us to make our own list of who we are thankful for. Let’s do it …
Happy thanksgiving everyone! On this day of being grateful I am so grateful for my family! I only have a picture with the siblings here but I am so grateful for everyone in my family. These siblings of mine though (along with Jazzy who's on her mission) know me like no one else does and I'm so glad that they take me as I am for the good, the bad, and the ugly! 😜 I have really learned that my family has been given to me by God as a support system in this life. They keep me in check, they remind me of what to be really grateful for, what weaknesses I still need to work on, how to believe in myself a little more than I do sometimes, how to look at others a little more differently, and how to love people even when we don't see eye to eye and choose different paths of life. They have dealt with how indecisive I am my whole life, how I get impatient and maybe a little overly critical; they've dealt with the drastic changes American Idol and music put us through and the family dynamics that were already changing in the middle of all of it. They each share their perspective on life that help paint a bigger picture of what matters most. At the end of it all it seems we can agree on these 4 things: food, video games, that family is always in the center, and God's hand has been in our lives and we have seen so many of His tender mercies. I'm grateful to be imperfect and how obvious it is, it makes me realize how much I need this team of family and friends that I've been given. It teaches me how to love even when it's hard and doesn't make sense. I'm glad I have people that love me even when I don't feel like I deserve it or have any reason for them to love me. They love me anyway though and in the end teach me why I matter and what my purpose is. For me it's a reminder of God. It's a way he provides His love to me. Through this wonderful family of mine! This morning I was thinking of all the people I'm grateful for and the list just kept going and going. It really lifted my mood. Who are you grateful for? Give yourself time to think about it to explore different parts and times of your life to remember those people! It really does help! #Thanksgiving #family
And just like that, we go from a tender moment to an absolutely hilarious one. Thanksgiving memories from David.

David Archuleta, Nathan Pacheco coming to BYU-Idaho Christmas Concert
David Archuleta and Nathan Pacheco will be the featured guest artists at this year’s annual Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center in Rexburg.
“A BYU-Idaho Christmas” will feature the BYU-Idaho Symphony Orchestra, Collegiate Singers, Concert Choir, Vocal Union and dancers from the College of Performing and Visual Arts.
“This will definitely be the largest Christmas concert ever held at BYU-Idaho,” said Don Sparhawk, coordinator of the Center Stage Performing Arts Series. “More than 11,000 tickets have already been sold in the 15,000-seat venue.”
Sparhawk said the concert will feature a variety of Christmas music, ranging from holiday favorites to hymns and carols. Archuleta and Pacheco will also sing their duet of “The Prayer,” which has been very popular on YouTube.
Archuleta became a pop star when he was just 16. In 2008 more than 30 million television viewers fell in love with his angelic voice and their 44 million votes made him runner-up in Season 7 of “American Idol.”
He has a popular Christmas album entitled “Christmas from the Heart” and was featured in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Christmas concert in 2010.
Pacheco is a classically trained tenor who has a passion for reaching out and uplifting people through music. “Introducing Nathan Pacheco” and “Christmas with Nathan Pacheco” began airing on PBS in 2012, and he was featured in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Pioneer Day concert in 2013. He also was featured in the BYU-Idaho Christmas concert three years ago.
Tickets for the concert are $15 for the general public and $10 for BYU-Idaho students. They are available online at www.byui.edu/tickets or on school days from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office (208-496-3170), located inside the University Store in the Manwaring Center.
