Giving Thanks

happythanksgivingsignHappy Thanksgiving to all our US readers!!!!

Canada has already celebrated our official Thanksgiving but yo don’t need a celebratory day to pause and express thanks for those people that you are thankful to have in your life. Sadly it’s too often a sideways turn, a close call, a tragic event that happens to a friend, that jolts us into the reality that we need to park any  negative tendancies that often creep in and reflect on the positive.

For those taking the time to read this, one unifying factor that we can all agree we are extremely thankful for is the artistry of David Archuleta.  Everyone has their own series of reasons to be a fan.  Some of us can define them clearly, some of us cannot.  Often there is an intangeable feeling, emotion, connection that can’t be put into words easily.  I feel blessed and thankful to be able to travel for a live concert 5 year wait, thankful that there were no crises at work, my kids are independent enough to have me go, and wise and supportive enough to encourage me to go, and that I had good friends with which to share the experience (and LV accomodation ~ tx Lala).   Those events are rejuvenating and reaffirming; and they provide clarity regarding those thankful intangeables.  I’m thankful for family, good friends, great fellow MODs with Joanie, Kalei and DTF, good health, my country, my neighbours to the south, a challenging and exciting worklife and the continued ability to dream sky high.

And I’m thankful for all of you for coming here, supporting us and who have the patience of reading what we write.  Add your thanks in comments.  I promise you, it’s a good thing to type it out.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving all!

A Family Love Letter

Read this all the way through.  Wow, made me cry.  On Thanksgiving, David shows his vulnerability through an instagram about how his siblings have supported him.  And he lists what he sees as his faults in the process.  No words here.  David encourages us to make our own list of who we are thankful for.  Let’s do it …

Happy thanksgiving everyone! On this day of being grateful I am so grateful for my family! I only have a picture with the siblings here but I am so grateful for everyone in my family. These siblings of mine though (along with Jazzy who's on her mission) know me like no one else does and I'm so glad that they take me as I am for the good, the bad, and the ugly! 😜 I have really learned that my family has been given to me by God as a support system in this life. They keep me in check, they remind me of what to be really grateful for, what weaknesses I still need to work on, how to believe in myself a little more than I do sometimes, how to look at others a little more differently, and how to love people even when we don't see eye to eye and choose different paths of life. They have dealt with how indecisive I am my whole life, how I get impatient and maybe a little overly critical; they've dealt with the drastic changes American Idol and music put us through and the family dynamics that were already changing in the middle of all of it. They each share their perspective on life that help paint a bigger picture of what matters most. At the end of it all it seems we can agree on these 4 things: food, video games, that family is always in the center, and God's hand has been in our lives and we have seen so many of His tender mercies. I'm grateful to be imperfect and how obvious it is, it makes me realize how much I need this team of family and friends that I've been given. It teaches me how to love even when it's hard and doesn't make sense. I'm glad I have people that love me even when I don't feel like I deserve it or have any reason for them to love me. They love me anyway though and in the end teach me why I matter and what my purpose is. For me it's a reminder of God. It's a way he provides His love to me. Through this wonderful family of mine! This morning I was thinking of all the people I'm grateful for and the list just kept going and going. It really lifted my mood. Who are you grateful for? Give yourself time to think about it to explore different parts and times of your life to remember those people! It really does help! #Thanksgiving #family

David Archuleta and Nathan Pacheco

“A BYU-Idaho Christmas” will feature the BYU-Idaho Symphony Orchestra, Collegiate Singers, Concert Choir, Vocal Union and dancers from the College of Performing and Visual Arts.

David Archuleta and Nathan Pacheco will be the featured guest artists at this year’s annual Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center in Rexburg.

“A BYU-Idaho Christmas” will feature the BYU-Idaho Symphony Orchestra, Collegiate Singers, Concert Choir, Vocal Union and dancers from the College of Performing and Visual Arts.

“This will definitely be the largest Christmas concert ever held at BYU-Idaho,” said Don Sparhawk, coordinator of the Center Stage Performing Arts Series. “More than 11,000 tickets have already been sold in the 15,000-seat venue.”

Sparhawk said the concert will feature a variety of Christmas music, ranging from holiday favorites to hymns and carols. Archuleta and Pacheco will also sing their duet of “The Prayer,” which has been very popular on YouTube.

Archuleta became a pop star when he was just 16. In 2008 more than 30 million television viewers fell in love with his angelic voice and their 44 million votes made him runner-up in Season 7 of “American Idol.”

He has a popular Christmas album entitled “Christmas from the Heart” and was featured in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Christmas concert in 2010.

Pacheco is a classically trained tenor who has a passion for reaching out and uplifting people through music. “Introducing Nathan Pacheco” and “Christmas with Nathan Pacheco” began airing on PBS in 2012, and he was featured in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Pioneer Day concert in 2013. He also was featured in the BYU-Idaho Christmas concert three years ago.

Tickets for the concert are $15 for the general public and $10 for BYU-Idaho students. They are available online at www.byui.edu/tickets or on school days from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office (208-496-3170), located inside the University Store in the Manwaring Center.

    Happy Thanksgiving FOD!
I am very thankful to David for his beautiful music and kind and loving heart. I am thankful for my family and friends…for a roof over my head, food to eat…some people don’t have that. If we count our blessings we will realize we have more than we need.
Thankful for all the simple things in life. David’s music has not only brought me closer to my faith, but has helped me believe in myself.

  2. myheartsong says:

I am beyond grateful for so much. First let me say how grateful I am for FOD over the years. This became my place to land very early on in my David journey. I have a special appreciation and love for these mods who take their own precious time to provide all things David (and those associated with David) on a regular basis. Please know how much this fan appreciates that. And I also am thankful for the most incredible friends I’ve made in this journey (some of whom are these mods). I am truly blessed to have such wonderful friends. I’m of course grateful for my family who are more to me than I can express. I’m thankful to God who makes all of this I my life possible. ❤️

A day to remember all things & people in our life that mean so much to us. No matter what happens, good and bad, I remind myself there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for. Wishing all the Archies who visit here, at Twitter or another site & those out there who celebrate David and his music in a more quiet way…a BLESSED Thanksgiving and may 2017 be kind & continue to bring us even more to be thankful for. God Bless.❤️

  4. VaBeachArchie says:

HAPPY Thanksgiving guys! Our annual participation in the 3 mile Turkey Trot run and festivities was cold and rainy here at the beach! But a FANTASTIC turnout for this local charity. 🙂

I am thankful every day for my health, family and friends, and to be living in the home of the free and the brave.

Thank you Pastel for FOD’s Thanksgiving post! Thankful that I happened to find FOD and David Archuleta and his music way back when! EXCITED for the Christmas concerts and My Little Prayer!

ENJOY your day! Four family traditions in one SUPER Thanksgiving feast! THANKFUL at the beach! 🙂

  5. JANA~OR says:

I am thankful for the privilege to live in the same town as my kids, still. To watch them grow, mature and move forward has been a blessing and one I don’t take lightly, as I am aware there are others who may not have this opportunity. My love and heart goes out to those this Thanksgiving. I am grateful for a good job, that affords me great independence and autonomy. I still love it. I am thankful for my long marriage and what I have learned from it. I am thankful my mom is as feisty and sharp as ever and enjoing her life on the Southern Cali. coast.
I continue to be thankful that there are people like David Archuleta on the planet and spreading goodness and..I am thankful for Nathan’s Halleluja. 😉 good grief.
You folks going to hear them are surely in for a once in a lifetime show!

    Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving all you wonderful Archies and to this living and breathing place called FOD I say thank-you for the opportunity to tackle an unexpected challenge that I didn’t think I’d be able to handle. I happened to find a closed group related to David embedded in Facebook. Naturally, I had to check it out but little did I know that I’d become its coordinator!!! After the shock of it all, 2 wks in total, I decided to take the challenge because I could hear Kalei, Joanie and Pastel and all of you telling me to GO FOR IT!! Sometimes a push is all you need <3
I want to thank my hubby, son and Go-Go our cat for putting up with me and my new found "job." Most importantly, I'm grateful for my faith, my parents who influenced me to think of others first, share what is yours and always be grateful.

A small handful of fans will be having a late lunch-early dinner at 3 PM Saturday (tomorrow) at Sizzler in Provo. We’d love anybody going to join us. The address is 1385 S University Ave, Provo, it’s on the opposite side of University and straight across from the Provo Towne Center Mall.
We’re eating early because we want to get good parking for the concert. There will be a BYU basketball and football game tomorrow so we’ll be competing with parking spots.

  27. kimk says:

Grammyj oh well thanks hope David gets to sing some good songs too not just Nathan.

  28. Miss Vicki DA#2014 says:
