Discovered : Matt Clayton NMHF Post
We had a nice “Matty Matt C.” surprise last night when Martha came across this June 7th posting of David Archuleta NMHF album photos on Matt’s blog site! What??? Did I just say “June 7th posting??” Eep! It’s been up for a whole 12 days already! Thank you Martha for bringing us into the light last evening! The lead pic on today’s post is the first photo featured in the blogpost along with the photos below. I like that Matt mentions seeing the NMHF cd out in stores. He also mentions autographs…and sharpies, and posts the link to David’s OS within the blog.
“It was a nice surprise to see the finished album, while out shopping. I resisted the urge to tell the sales clerk that that was my work on the cover – I wasn’t in the mood to start signing autographs … plus I didn’t have a Sharpie on me.”
A while back, Kari shared a gorgeous photo she’d taken on that same day (below) but we still haven’t seen this same shot though Matt’s camera. Still hope we will someday. 🙂

Rexburg Memories From @Muldur
******* David Archuleta performing in Rexburg photo credit Shelley ********
Yesterday on FOD we celebrated the 3rd year anniversary of “Rexburg 2010.” In Comments last evening, Nancy (@muldur) shared her experience of traveling cross country to be at this show. It’s a fun story, and with her permission, I’m posting her comment/story here today.Thank you, Nancy!
Hello all, Just thought I would share a couple of little stories about Rexburg. My concert buddy Donna and I drove across country to see that show! There were two other fans driving across at roughly the same time so we were tweeting back and forth to each other and amusing ourselves with twitpics. We stopped in Iowa at Donna’s mom’s house for a few hours sleep and some good food, showered and got back on the road. We mostly drove while the other slept. In our travels, we narrowly avoided two major accidents, one because a tanker truck right in front of us had a blowout, and rubber started flying at us, and the second when I was driving and while passing a pickup, it started to pull our into our lane to pass the one in front of it. I was forced off onto the shoulder going about 80 miles an hour in the flat part of America. We survived!
We did not get to Rexburg for the signing at the bookstore, in fact, we did not have time to do much more than get cleaned up and start wandering around looking for where we were supposed to be. We had no idea, but at the show if you purchased either of David’s first CD, the CFTH cd, or COS, you could go to a signing after the show! So we did that.
The show was just amazing, the crowd screamed at the top of its collective lungs for at least 2 full minutes before he came out. When I recorded TMH, the opening, I posted a version of it that had about a minute of screaming. I edited out about 2 more minutes of it. It was a young crowd and very crazy for him This was the first show in a long time for him, so it was such a joy to see him (with his long hair) and hear him sing live. I loved the new songs we heard but my favorite was Not a Very Good Liar. Watching the videos of that song, would you ever guess that not one of us had ever heard the song? Yet we all were quite awesome on the uhoh-uhoh-ohs. It was so much fun!
Sadly, I realized not far into the show that I had forgotten to switch camera batteries so I didn’t get too much video, but on the bright side, I was able to truly enjoy him singing. The end of the show, when he sang Be Still My Soul, was one of most emotional moments I have ever been present for. Perhaps only his announcement would have been more emotional. David’s own emotion, the crowd’s screaming reaction when he announced he wanted to sing a HYMN!, that he used a hymnal, that the crowd was respectful of all of this, it was just one of the best ever.
Just after the show we got to go back and see him and get his signature on our purchases. He gave us a big hello and smile and I told him how much I loved the show and that I was especially grateful that he sang Be Still My Soul. He said he didn’t know why he got so emotional, and I said it’s ok, we got emotional with you. It was great to see him and be able to tell him how much I enjoyed the show.
After the show, we had our long ride home, which wasn’t as much fun as the ride out there, but still, road trips are just something I love to do. I love to see the huge skies of middle flat America. I would do it all again! And I hope to someday soon. 🙂
