Second last song to vote on for our virtual concert! What an amazing surprise that David added the snippet of this song from his youth, based upon a fan request. He went from being nervous, cautious and apologetic about this in San Antonio to more confident in SLC. Watch the transformation. But David’s nerves and desire to do the song justice is SOOOO ENDEARING! And he hits it out of the park every time. And the fans respond with honest praise.
If there was ever a reminder of how much we miss David in concert, this song is it.

I was saying with Video No. 1, yesterday I asked you to submit fan stories, and here’s one from Debbie in comments.

I went to David’s San Antonio concert on 3-12-09 I had a blast. I live in Eagle Pass,TX a small town southwest of San Antonio. I went with my daughter and a friend to my first concert ever. We left my house at 8:00 a.m. so we could get a good spot in line. I was very excited, we waited 7 hours and it was worth the wait. David came out with a BIG smile on his face he was beautiful and the fans went wild. David sang and smiled and moved around on stage like always does.
But then came the best part I yelled at David “Estas bien chulo” which means you’re cute. A few moments later after he introduced the band I yelled “Sing in spanish”. He didn’t know what to do at first but he ended up singing a bit of “Como la Flor” and the fans went wild. This is the best part I was singing along to one of his songs and he noticed, he stopped and looked at me straight in the eyes as he continued singing.
That’s not all ~ during the intermission I threw a teddy bear onto the stage but he didn’t see it. He saw it on his way out after the last song and picked it up.
I had the most amazing time of my life, will never forget it!

The Scout Bar, where the concert was held, is a tiny (a heard it was the smallest venue on the tour), standing-room-only place and it was packed with crazy fans, anxious to sing along with David. One female fan standing close to the stage said, “Sing something in Spanish.” So after consulting Lupe, who had just joined him on the tour, a new beast was unleashed as David sang a snippet of “Como La Flor.” I don’t think he realized what was happening right then. I’m sure he wasn’t expecting the audience to sing along. It was an unforgettable moment for sure.

Ive learned over the four + years Ive been coming here to be cautious about what I say especially where David is concerned. I know there are others that feel the same…poor josie tiptoes around for days before saying anything. It shouldnt be that way…but it is what it is. I love a good discussion but at times (most times) it isnt worth the angst it stirs up!

I think we all feel at times we have to be careful with what we say. I guess that’s what you do when you want to retain civility and respect and friendship.
Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but it does require respect and self restraint at times too. I guess we all just have to do our best to feel our way along and figure out when and how to say things. I tend to think most things can be said if you figure out HOW to say it. But sometimes, timing is important too. I want people to be able to express themselves.
Maybe he’s talking about the “foundation” since it’s only a year to go before his comeback…..
Or maybe it’s just something that came to mind and he just wanted to give us words of wisdom to live by…..simple as that…..maybe.

My dad always told my sister and I, “Just because it is in your head, doesn’t mean you have to say it out loud.” I really didn’t get that when I was really young, but now in my old age, he was so right. We are all intitled to our opinion, but sometimes what we are thinking doesn’t need to be said to the public. I think everyone here does a pretty good job of thinking about how it might be received before we “speak”. Sometimes it is the way we say it, too. That is hard when we are not face to face and doing it in the written word.
HAPPY David Tweet day! The man tweets a thought…via Kari! Just hope that means he has big things planned for 2014!

I wouldn’t read any more into it, other than he can see how some of the experiences he is having on his mission are helping him prepare for challenges or situations he anticipates coming up in the future.
Hopefully that future he is envisioning is the post-mission one…and hopefully he is missing us just a teeny tiny bit…and maybe he is thinking about the future since it is virtually the half way point of his mission. I bet ya anything, the halfway point is causing him to reflect upon the past year and to anticipate the next year and beyond.

Actually, I have found keeping a journal is extremely cathartic for when you’re trying to say less. Writing it all down somewhere seems to help get it out of your system. No wonder David likes to journal.

I for one am interpreting it in this way: a little hint that what he is doing is working so that it will prepare him for the awesome opportunities that are waiting for him when he return to his career. For some reason that though just filled my heart with joy!!!
Since I’m sure he is immersed in what he is doing right now for his mission experience maybe a postcard that says we miss those random tweets would jog his memory and since it will soon be his last year of his mission he will send some of those through Kari to get him ready for coming home. Just FYI, David didn’t quote the LDS scripture word for word, but it is in reference to it. It is a quote from the scripture used a lot in conference talks and elsewhere. It’s in the Book of Mormon in Alma. Part of it says “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass”. I won’t quote all of it, though I did on Twitter if anyone wants to see it.

Hello Everyone! lol, you guys are too funny, trying to figure out what David meant by the tweet. Its simple really. You know how he is. He see’s a sign on the road, thinks its funny or interesting, he tweets a pic of it or tells us about it. I’ve probably had 1,000 sayings told to me or have read them & had no idea they came from scripture, or not, over the years. Who cares, its a nice saying & can be applied to our lives in so many ways. He has also said that, experiences he’s had in his life, good or bad, have helped him or someone else, later in his life. Maybe a class you took for one thing, might help you with something totally different later in life or something difficult thing you went through before, helps you overcome a bigger obstacle now. Or, when you cooked your first turkey & forgot to take the inside stuff out & now when you have to cook Thanksgiving dinner for your family, including a “peske, troublesome mother-in-law or father-in-law”, you’re ready to knock their socks off with a great meal, because of the 1st mistake
Hey guys, something kind of interesting here, I like to check the iTunes Charts from time to time, the top 1500 pop album one mostly and right now both versions of his first cd and TOSOD and BEGIN, and also NMHF are in there! NMHF is currently at 685, and CFTH has been in the top 50 Christmas album list for a while. This may not be that big of a deal but it’s nice to see Davids music still in the charts even while he is away. TOSOD is not in this list a lot but his first cd is there almost all the time. Just wanted to share this with you all.

Afternoon everyone. Pastel super post. I love all of the videos.Proves that David gives a smashing performance every time. Love reading all of your interpretaions of the tweet today. I think the saying validates his reason for going on the mission and that his experiences there are going to make him appreciate all the things that will come when he returns. David always says what he means and means what he says. Anyone like him, who makes sacrifices and does what he truly believes in, will undoubtably be rewarded with wisdom. I’ve been wondering for awhile with all this talk of young Mormans getting married – many before they finish their college education, who supports these young people until they are ready to get a job? Is it usually the parents? Just wondering because I’m sure they face the challenges of needing a good education to get a decent job. Not trying to stir up any trouble here. I’m just wondering because it is different from my experience.
Kim-Just got back from driving my grandson to his friends. Heck you are right. That chapstick video was so sweet. David has such a good nature.
Come to think of it, David could do any number of commercials except alcoholic beverages. 
JEB, I live in a college town, and got married, back in the day, before I graduated from college. We lived on our student loans and part-time jobs. We lived in a tiny, cheap apartment. I’m sure that is how young, married Mormons would support themselves. Also one could be in school while the other has a full-time job.

Imo getting married and struggling can come at any age. With friends and family that took the plunge early, a few are still married, but for the most part, marriage just didn’t last. Maybe the Mormon community have a lot better luck than anyone outside Mormonism, maybe the pressure to stay together and have babies makes them more willing to work on their marriage or just stay no matter what…I guess it’s a cultural thing…Of course I would like to see David happy and married, but I just would like for him to take his time and not be pressured to hurry up and get married right after he returns from his mission, but that’s jmo. We as fans have zero control (as it should be) over David’s personal life. The only control we have is deciding to buy his music on not…..

Linda, I have been nostalgic quite a bit lately. I miss very much all the fun I had being able to go to shows and events and see friends. I know it’s going to all come around again, but still miss it.

JEB – Think it depends on where you go. I was in college not too many years ago, a public state university. My tuition and room & board ran about $10,000-15,000 per year. My parents weren’t financially able to help out so I paid for my school with a combination of scholarships, grants and loans. I also worked a part time job to pay extra expenses. Of course, if you’re looking at the upper tier schools the cost is quite a bit higher.
Jeb – ditto to what the others said. Live frugally, work hard. That sort of thing.
I was laughing over the scripture connection…..david has tweeted things like that before and it was never a big deal. As some have said, it wasn’t a direct scriptural quote, it has a universal message and I don’t think it was preachy. Now if he started tweeting ‘Repent and be baptized’ or something then I’d expect a ton of squealing. lol And I think we’d all have our socks shocked off us too. Lds or not. lol
Here in Australia and New Zealand most students study at a university near their home and live at home. Going away to college is a big American thing. Just a FYI. lol

Supergrand, aww thank you. Yes i’m feeling a lot better now. Wasn’t well for a couple of weeks and then I had insomnia too so that made things drag out a bit longer, plus family stuff going on etc. But it’s just easy stuff ahead for the rest of the month now.

I just love it when David sings in Spanish…..Coma La Flora is PERFECT…He must do a Spanish album when he gets back…What is all this talk about college and getting married….Is this the new David rumor out there today???…….It must be cultural to come back and get married right away after your Mission. Mormons expect young adults to abstain from sex before marriage so it must be the practice in the Mormon culture to marry quickly so pre marital sex is not a temptation. I think David will take his time in getting married. I can’t see him just marrying anyone around just for the sake of getting married……I may be wrong though…Maybe he has developed a romantic interest in one of his lady friends back home and plans to marry when her returns….Who knows…..Miss Vicki
