Looking a year back – has it really been that long? – David sent a short blog on the first day of filming for Nandito Ako. Fresh from makeup, hair and wardrobe, he shares with us about feeling “… a little bit of the nerves and a little bit of excitement together…”

Haven’t done this in awhile, so here are the last few weeks ideas to keep you busy while David is away and for the upcoming week:
Week 42; Jan 28-Feb 2: Zero Gravity week. Any and all performances and fan covers.
Week 43; Feb 3-9: Ice Skating week. David has sung for a few ice skating shows. Show these performances and go ice skating!!! Share your pics. Request to the rink DJ to play David songs.
Week 44; Feb 11-17: Sweetheart week. Take out your sweetheart, include David love songs for the mood. Fod and Fanscene can help set the mood with love songs from Forevermore and other love songs David has sung. Send David a Valentine’s card.
Week 45; Feb 18-24 Nandito Ako anniversary week. Watch Nandito Ako all week. Fod and Fanscene promotes several episodes per day. Have a crazy Nandito Ako party!

The only reason I brought that up is because David is usually very shy and he appeared very tender and comfortable to this person in that picture so that image kind of stay with me. I know David wants his private /personal life to himself and rightfully so I respect him for that. No one really knows maybe she was a Crush of his and than maybe not. JMHO

I love DRA, but that super slow beginning just doesn’t grab you right away, you need to go more into the song to fall in love, omo, though.

Gloria Estefan also has a unique voice and I know that she is much older than David but she has a husband that could produce a fine song/album if they could connect. They did invite him to sing the “We are the World” spanish version so anything is possible. Don’t throw tomatoes but I also like him to collobrate with PitBull he is also spanish I believe and very relevant. JMHO

Hi real quick. Re: yesterday’s convo about DRA…it’s sad & I don’t like it, but honestly, I expected it. David’s been off the radar since Crush, at least in the U.S. And young people have a 2-sec attention span. I think a lot of folks who waited patiently for years decided to finally move on after “the announcement.” It’s just human nature when they don’t see any developments, & David & Kari can’t really expect peeps to be THAT long-suffering. lol…Still optimist that peeps will come back when he does, though. IF they’re made aware that he’s back in action.
I agree that payola, label support and a killer song are probably all needed for radio play. I’ve said it before, but my DJ said as much a few yrs ago. The DJ: “We only play artists that already have hits.” Me: “A song can’t be a hit if nobody hears it, & it can’t be heard if stations won’t play it” DJ: “Well, the label rep has to really push it.” Me: “So requesting doesn’t help?” DJ: “It can, but not much. If the label doesn’t care enough to push it hard, why should we? The rep also must be in good standing with our boss, or it won’t matter how good the song is. And…he may need to offer something beneficial to us in exchange for playing a song. Like, ‘If you play this song 50x times we’ll find a great sponsor for you.’ Plus, occasionally, the artist himself has paid for airplay up front.”….So basically, it’s a business negotation. Politics. Yep.

I think they really enjoyed touring with David. At least they said so in the vid they did when they interviewed the band. Mark was the band director, he did most of the talking. Remember he said David didn’t spend a lot of time with them because he was always sight seeing. he loves to do that, but he was always on time for practice. Also said that that, that guy (David) can sing his butt off.

Josie- thanks for breaking that down for us. So basically untill David gets back and signs (if he signs) a big label to push that song or any song we wont be hearing it on any radio pretty much, even with us requesting. That is depressing. I can’t see why peeps have choose to move on. It is very unsetting. 2014 I sure hope things change for him.

Josie, yeah money talks. This mission has put a totally different spin on David’s career, imo. He said in a vlog/interview (don’t know which) that he needed to build a foundation, so I hope he has laid some ground work for that foundation before he left.
One thing I can say about being a fan, it’s not easy…it’s almost like always waiting for that shoe to drop…let’s hope the next shoe to drop is a big comeback special that has been put into play, so that he can hit the ground running when he returns.
Maybe Eone has some plans to push DRA….grasping at straws…

Kari even said we should request so it must do some good. I think we should try to get the views high on the Koch video of DRA and request all we can. I just went to soul david site and I was kind of hurt of one of the comment there, stating that Filipinos loves for David signify nothing of great importance to them. But I feel whole heartedly they love David because of who he is and love his music. His music has inspired them in so many ways. And she also says American only goes to Philippines to pay their bills. Is that mean they are just using Philippines.

Nenita, I for one think that David is loved by the Philippine community and he loves the Philippine fans and loves going to your country to perform. I think that right now a lot of fans are just fustrated with David being gone and are trying to make sense of why he isn’t as successful as he should be. Don’t be hurt, Thank goodness he had that gig in the Philippines, it’s a win for all us fans.
Evening everyone. Kalei nice silent Sunday post. Oh I wish we had another mini-series with David in it. I love Nandito Ako and think that it was an axcellent venue for David. The series was true to life and still was something that David could be comfortable with. A real good story. My Dear Writer and all involved should be commended for putting David in such a good light. I guess what I’m saying is that it was done in good taste and still being real.
Josie so that DJ that you talked about was taking something that is called Payola, whic is against the law, legally they are not supossed totake money or other things to play artists music, that is where a third party comes in, and things exchange hands, like politicians do for campaigns.

Nenita-sorry if your feelings got hurt, David love being in the Philippines and loved the people and they loved him sincerely, H could act like himself and they related to his music and the type of moral and down to earth person he is, and he in turn could relate to them. We are thankful for them because they treated him so well, and gave him a lot of confidence in himself. They really appreciated him, mor than some of the U.S. fans here.

Nenita-I took that differently, to mean David is more accepted for who he is in the Philippines. Here in the US is the cool kids in school that get noticed. Come to think of it guess its always been that way.
His amazing popularity in the PI doesnt affect how he is viewed here in the states, to many here his image just isnt cool. Which is fine with me.

Ida-Howdy Neighbor! One of the pitfalls of social media is not being able to hear the tone in a voice or to get a feel for what the person is saying. It leaves so much open to personal interpretation which many times is taken the wrong way.

years ago i had a friend who worked at our local station and what he told me was shocking. he said all the music was pre programmed and he was just there to hit the song and commerical buttons and when the songs were playing he was supposed to be sweeping, mopping, and cleaning the toilets! and he only got minimum wage! wth????

tami lyn, my mom discussed *ayol* haha, with me when I was in my early teens. I don’t know why she did but I understood what it meant. Maybe it was because she was head over heels in love with Arthur Godfrey who had a radio show with live singers and he knew the ropes and the topic was inferred. I guess she wanted me to know that it was wrong, as if I was gonna go in that line of work. I guess it’s here to stay hiding under under another rock.

Hey LindaFromCali…..I will be headed your way in September…..My son graduates from VA Tech in May and we were going to take him on a cruise for graduation (cruises don’t look too good right now!!!!), but he wanted to go to Southern California in the fall instead….(to give him time to find a REAL job) So we have booked a week at a luxury beach resort in Del Mar Califonia (right next to where David performed back in 2009!!!) Miss Vicki- Yes, David had a heavy make up in the first few episode, to tell you honestly, He look more handsome in the light make up, I don’t know if it essential for filming to have heavy make up as I saw some of the actors and actresses involve in NA also have heavy make up, I can even smell David foundation lol as it was heavy when we got near each other. He also have heavy make up in one of the signing , since he just finished his photoshoot for Bench when he got there. I think in pictorial , need to have heavy makeup.

I got an 800 number to call 106.7 F.M. to request DRA , now all I have to do is get up enough nerve to call. I used to call a lot of stations a couple of years ago. Miss Vicki, it took some getting used to but it all worked out in the end until they got to the Rainbow MV but that too faded. I guess David’s beautiful qualities just take over. I do want him to act, again, too…maybe something outside the box and then I’ll go hide under a chair LOL
idame- iguess maybe you remember the big scandal when some of the djs in th50s or 60s were found to have been taken payola, like Alan Freed, and were convicted, that was a big deal back then,but I guess as things change things still stay the same, except they can hide it better today.

Nenita- Philippines and most of the Asian countries support David, he is well love in Asia. In Philippines, since Filipinos loves music, they really support artists, even without morals and not conservative singers like Lady Gaga, JB and other rockstars, they still support, the concert still sold out. Mostly Filipinos like who is famous now in US, Canada and Europe, they want it lol. Jessica Sanchez and Colton had a valentine’s day concert here in Manila, it was also well attended and Gangnam style Psy did a concert last Sat in Manila, it was also sold out show.

Just as cute as a button and so sweet. Can’t never get enough of being in his presence. Not a care in the world when David is around. You are right about having great memories.

had some left overs from a great cuban restaurant here in Jersey Actually we were there for Valentin’s Day. We shared yucca, congri, puerco asado, maduros, ropa vieja and tiramisu…it was soooo good!!!! The funny part was that they had a singer and she was belting out a spanish song that I knew but I couldn’t place so I asked my hubby for help. Well, he looked at me in disbelief and said, “You honestly don’t know that your fav singer on the whole planet sang that song…A Puro Dolor… on some video and you made me listen to it.” LOL Isn’t he too much

supergrand- I was able to picked up the scent because I was beside him at the time, that’s why when someone asked me previously in this thread what David smells, I said he smells powder, foundation. The first time David went to the Philippines on 2009, he was very cute like a little kid lol, and when he come back in Manila on 2010 for TOSOD showcase and signing, he already look older which I really like and his actions are more mature than when his first time in Manila

SGJ, yup…I’ll be honest he has his limits with David and I’ve learned to read him very well. I used to go on and on like we were both fans ha I learned soon enough
but he’s definitely a good sport!!! I love writing and sending pix of David to his sister in Cuba cuz she was visiting her mom at the time of AI7 and they loved David but Margarita had to leave before the finale. So I ended up writing all that’t been going on with him for the last 5 yrs. It’s been cool cuz I learned a lot of Spanish along the way.
Jhen- David cetainly has grown from a shy boy into a outgoing, sweet young man. One of his endearing characteristics is how he acted his age. I admire him for that. Too many kids grow up too fast. I mean they think they are grown up but have no clue. David was mature for his age and knew he wanted to enjoy his teenage years. You know what I mean. He is a very exceptional person. That’s why we all love him.

judie, the GS did the preorders in January. They are due to come to us the beginning of next week to deliver. My girls (37 out of 45 of them) sold 5,100 boxes and then I ordered another 3,000 for cookie booths, 8,100 total. We always sell that many every year (that many booth cookies) easily! Utahns and their sweet teeth! LOL

Martha – last I heard, viewing videos on YouRepeat and YoutubeRepeat did not increase Youtube view counts on a video. I think someone emailed YT to ask them if it counted and they said the first view only since that was the only time it pulled from the site, then it was just replaying on the same view over and over. Just an FYI.
YT is also iffy on confirming if multiple views from the same IP within a certain period of time count but if you’re trying to add views, it’s much more likely to actually work directly from the YT site itself. You’ll need to refresh the page after each view though to have a shot at it counting.

I didn’t knoe that you could buy DRA on E music for $.99 I just read it while playing DRA on uTube, did anybody know that?
OoO – my understanding of how YT works is that the only way for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. view to count while still on the same page is to completely refresh the page after each view. Now, if you’re just coming back to the video after going to another page or opening your browser, then that’s a new view. But once that has played, if you just hit the replay button, that will not count as another view.
It’s also possible that Youtube only counts one (or a certain number) of views from an IP address during a certain period of time. As I said earlier, YT and Google are quite secretive about exactly how they count views and have worked hard to try to keep view counts from being artificially inflated, especially here recently. They took 2 billion “fake” views away from Sony and Universal last year.
