I just want to say that his new CD, sold at WOWHD wouldn’t count as weekly album sales since the store is in Australia. So if you could order from stores in US like Amazon, Best Buy, Target etc, it would add to the sales stats that Billboard announces. My plan is buying some from US stores (last time, when I checked BEGIN, I couldn’t find it at Best Buy, Target, Kmart but Walmart carried it) and if WOWHD sells at a cheaper price, I would order some from them too. Just wanna share my thoughts on the album purchase.
BTW, love the lyrics that Reiko included in her photo above. Can’t wait!!

Hello Everyone! Davids not in music for fame, fortune or awards, he loves music, pure & simple. Yes, I’m sure he wants to be successful & if a Grammy comes his way, he will be most grateful, but he’s not going to come on to women twice his age or treat women his age like dirt or do crazy things just to keep his name in the news & go to every single event, whether is has anything to do with music or not. David treats people with respect, kindness & compassion, he’s sincere about it. David will be legend in the music field someday, I just know it. Not a legend in his own mind like some people out there, but thought of that way by fellow musicians & fans. He said he wants to be respected, to earn the respect of others. Not pay for it with favors, money or false praise of others, but to earn it, because when he deals with you, he will be honest, kind, respectful & give his all, total effort. David will be mega-successful, on his terms, with help & support of others. Once his mission is complete, he will be able to go full force with his career & hold on to something strong, because he’s gonna knock our socks off
One more thing, his fans are BEST!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe the music biz really is too immoral/sleazy for david and he would be better off being an actor and doing music on the side.

I have high hopes for him. Adult Contemporary is where his music belongs. I’m looking forward to hearing it on the radio!
Tami lyn, Sometimes I think as fans, we think we’re the only ones who get David and how talented he is. It’s frustrating knowing he isn’t signed to a label, BUT, I think what we don’t know is a lot. I personally believe that many major labels have been clamoring to sign David. He parted with Jive, turned down their offers. I believe he chose not to sign with another label because he knew what was on the horizon. Whether or not he knew for sure he was going on mission, it was his heart to go. I’m cofident that when he gets back, there will be offers from labels waiting on him. David’s talent is obvious and not lost on anyone, especially those in the music industry. I hope that my intuitions are correct.

Hey tami lyn, After he left Jive, he had several offers from other labels, but he planned on going on a mission his whole life, he had to do that first. Whether he sticks with this current label when he gets back or gets a different label, he’s not going to have trouble finding a label. He may have a tentative agreement with one already, be the current one or a new one. Believe me, ALL labels are well aware of Davids talent, he’ll probably be signed before both feet touch the ground here in the US

tami lyn, he cant sign with anyone right now, but he’s had meetings ever since he left Jive, so yeah, like I said, he may have a verbal agreement with someone & if things are still agreed to when he returns, then he can sign. Dont think he can do that right now, or, maybe he can, dont know. His main focus is his mission, as it should be, his team is doing all the remaing work to be done on any music being released.

LCT – Wow, what a nasty comment that was. The reply was a little confusing too…I think the reply was on David’s side though. All I’m going to say is, just because LDS people share the same religion doesn’t mean we agree on everything. I think that person maybe thought David was recording it while in Chile or something or it could be that they genuinely believe what they wrote. I just want to make it clear that LDS people can disagree on things just like anyone else. The difference now is that with the internet, it’s easier than ever to post as well as read any comment under the sun, so it feels like a mine field sometimes. The songs were PRE-RECORDED, for heaven’s sake. And they would be uplifting no matter what, so I’m not sure what this person is thinking. David’s still focused on his mission; it’s his team that is focused on the album. My thought when I read the comment was, “Well, if you disagree with it so much, just don’t buy it, simple as that!” Sigh.
Sorry, not trying to start a big discussion or anything. I just needed to vent and share my perspective after reading those strange comments.

Just a little insight on “Burger with Relish” he is a reporter that lives in Utah and hasn’t liked David since day one and has been very vocal about it! Printed a not so nice article about David going on a mission AND his lack of talent! Really??…lack of talent!! The fact he is lds has nothing to do with his feelings about David. The followup comment was spot on, get your facts straight Jack before you report on something. He is also well aware that his comments will bring him more hits to his report and the paper he writes for. He’s not worth my time.

So everyone loves the ‘haha’. Same here. Such a small word but so much significance in it really. That little haha conveys how the fans excitement, thrilled him and made him happy. You don’t add on ‘haha’ unless you’ve got a smile in your heart. And probably on his face too. He knows we’re up to the same old stuff….spazzing like crazy…over him!
Work on dear david, secure in the knowledge that you are still loved by your fans.
Alynne…i agree…i think there is every possibility the big labels are interested in D. I remember after he first parted way with Jive/WEG, one of his relatives left a message somewhere saying something to the effect that David’s future was exciting and bright….basically it made it seem like he must have had lots of interest/offers. We know nothing of the background wrangling/negotations/conversations that are had. An independent label was always a strong possibility anyway…simply for the freedom to do things his way, which is clearly a driving force to David.
As for buying from Amazon versus places luke Wowhd….i guess there are two things to consider…the first being the billboard numbers etc. that’s important because it helps his reputation but there is also a second consideration….and that is dollars in david’s pocket. If we can buy it cheaper somewhere and therefore buy MORE albums, then that will help david cover costs, bring in the money and, keep his future projects feasible, which also helps his reputation. I think just buy as many albums as you can wherever you can get it cheapest personally.

Mormons are notorious for knowing what everybody else should be doing (they shouldn’t be shopping on Sunday, they shouldn’t be wearing a tank top, they shouldn’t have tattoos, they shouldn’t wear two sets of earrings, they shouldn’t be watching a rated R movie, they shouldn’t wear bikinis, they shouldn’t drink coffee, tea, alcohol, they shouldn’t be releasing a cd when they’re on a mission, etc, etc, etc). Believe me, I know, I am a Mormon but as my name suggests I’m losing my religion.

Losing my religion….you know that’s quite an interesting comment ya know. In many ways I agree with you. I sure have heard a lot of opinionated comments from LDS people and I would be foolish to think myself entirely non-judgmental also. However, I think is a fairly complex sociological phenomenon really. First off, I think most people have opinions/stereotypes/judgments of some sort, whether they are LDS or not. Secondly, I think a big part of it stems from where we are in our evolution in society; the last couple of generations have seen a huge cultural and educational shift occur in the world. Never before has society been so exposed to so many different ideas, world views, experiences and also it can be argued that never before has there been such a marked moral change in such a short period of time. The result of course, is that we have a transitional phase where people are learning and changing at different rates. Personally I think that LDS people are becoming more open minded than they have ever have been before. And when I say open minded, I don’t mean they are changing their standards or beliefs but that they are becoming more understanding and accepting of other people’s ideas and experiences. I mean for instance, it is written into the very fabric of our doctrine in the articles of faith that ‘We believe in worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience and allow all men the same privilege let them worship how, where or what they may”. Perhaps because LDS people do typical hold quite conservative beliefs, it makes sense that as a group of individuals, they would take longer to adjust to such a liberal change in society but I definitely think they are becoming more understanding in general. Since you are mormon, you should know that it is not our intent to be judgmental but rather to serve and to love and be good people in general. Each of us is a work in progress, both Mormon and non-mormon.

I’ve been sitting here thinking about the comments on Burger’s article. Without claiming I know for sure (or a disclaimer that I don’t know) I’m thinking that David, Kari, his family and his “team” whomever they all are would never do anything against what he should be doing on his mission. He is still there doing what he needs to do. I’m thinking anything that is done by his team was asked ahead of time before his mission so that there was no question (all this just a guess on my part, of course). Begin was released during his mission so it’s not the first one.
Someone commented that he wasnt aware that missionaries can now hold jobs. The problem with that comment is that David can put making new music on hold and concert tours while he’s on his mission, however even if he didn’t put stuff together for us before he left, there’s still the issue that he is a recording artist, recorded many songs and released CDs which are still being purchased and downloaded while he’s on his mission. So therefore whatever money he makes on them, is still being made. Not a job you can just quit unless he was able to accomplish taking every single CD off the shelves to prevent purchases, and stopped the ability for people to download. Didnt, couldn’t and wouldn’t happen. His mission is an unpresidented situation just by him being a star. All new territory where missions are concered, as far as I know. Well, I’m tired so maybe this all didn’t make sense but I think people just need to trust David, and he is being an outstanding missionary and doing what he is supposed to do and needs to do.
You know, thinking about this Burger article….maybe the sensationalism of it will help….draw people in to the article and then it alerts them that david has music to check out.

Janel, you made perfect sense and I agree. I think it’s just like what I said earlier….people not thinking before they speak. Any LDS person knows that a missionary doesn’t go off recording music in the middle of their mission. And even if something crazy and unprecedented like that did happen, it would be with the.blessing of the mission president. People thinking before they speak. Pure and simple.

Booo I disagree actually. Mostly people just like to speak before they think no matter who they are.
Remember when david first announced his mission, there were plenty of angry, judgmental comments that flew around Archuletaland because people were raw and shocked and worried etc. Sometimes people still make judgmental comments about david (or his religion or values or choices) but usually they’re more subdued now or more veiled and indirect.
We’re just kind of used to it now and call it freedom of speech. lol
Well, Shanny I agree to a point, but…I have seen at certain websites(religious..ok. mormon) certain posters who always post on David’s threads. (I remember the names), and are always so critical of him about almost everything he does. Even about him deciding to go on a mission.” Why now? what happened to 19? ” etc etc. some people just aren’t happy unless they are complaining about other people. Guess it makes them feel better about themselves some how. Unfortunately you will find these type of people everywhere, religious or not.

I really don;t like long-winded polls like this. It is not even representative of anything. The thing is I just can let someone else get that title that rightfully belongs to David. Of all the times, of all the titles and for all the things he did in Manila for 2012, he DESERVES that title.
So do not lose hope guys. The “infantry” will come soon. It is also a good thing that the other party is going full blast now cos we can assess how much force they have.
