David Archuleta Shows his Stripes. And Stars.
It’s Monday and my regular day to post. As a non-American, I hope I can do justice to this very Patriotic post as we reflect on the US Presidential Inauguration and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Thanks to my twitter pals for helping to clarify some of the US constitutional requirements too. I saw the movie Lincoln last week, so I feel more appropriately informed on US history too 🙂
The inauguration of the president of the United States takes place during the commencement of a new term of a president of the United States, which is every four years on January 20. Today, on Monday January 21, there will be a public presidential inauguration ceremony, the swearing in of Barack Obama to begin his second four-year term in office. The President took a private oath of office on Sunday, January 20.
In 2009, David Archuleta was invited to attend the Latino Inaugural Ball and sang the National Anthem. Below are some pictures from the event and his performance:
David Singing the national anthem. I too was frustrated with the folks talking during this performance, but David is a professional and his voice soars here!
Let’s look back at David’s performance just a few weeks before in 2009 where David sings the National Anthem at Utah Governor Huntsman’s Inauguration on Jan. 5, 2009 in Salt Lake City
And here is a nice interview David gave just before the 2009 Latino Inaugural Ball. He speaks of youth getting more involved in political issues, and ends expressing his excitement over the upcoming solo tour.

@mylovetruth asks Gelli de Belen, who played Teresa Dionisio, Anya’s mom in Nandito Ako, a bit about David and acting last night.
Lovely words! And I found a few pics of David with Gelli.

Week of Updates
Hola. I’m updating on what’s been going on again haha. So last week was pretty crazy!
Monday was way fun with the Hard Rock Cafe performance! For those of you who went, I hope you had fun. I also accompanied myself on A Little Too Not Over You for the first time in New York for WPLJ.
After New York, I went to LA to do some stuff for Build-A-Bear, and there were 2 other talented girls. One of them was named Meaghan, who I believe was in Camp Rock. The other girl was named Jamia, and she was the little girl in August Rush! I remember watching Jamia actually on Showtime at the Apollo and Jay Leno when she was 7, so it was so cool! haha. I was blown away by her then, and I am blown away by her now. She was full of energy, and was hilarious too.
On Friday I did Radio Disney. I got to visit all the lovely cheerful staff at the Radio Disney station again, and I always love to go there. I performed there again, and got to talk to Ernie D and answer some phone calls on the air. Access Hollywood was there too, and they filmed me singing and doing my interviews there. I also had a little photo shoot for Radio Disney too, just for a few things.
Saturday, I performed at one of the events at Sundance, and that was really special because it was the first time I sang a song with my brother accompanying me on guitar. He accompanied me on You Can, and he did great haha. My friends and family got to come along, and we partied and just jammed out to music. We all had a really good time.
I then flew out to DC to sing the National Anthem at a Latino Gala event on Sunday, one of the events going on for the week of the inauguration. Some of the performers were War, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Sanz, and Marc Anthony, and I really enjoyed watching them. I got a chance to talk to Jennifer and Marc, and they were some of the coolest people I have ever met! It’s awesome because my mom is a huge fan of both of them, and they’re both incredibly talented. I love meeting people who are really well known and stuff, and you expect them to act all big and important, when they are some of the most down-to-earth cool people you’ve ever met haha. That’s how they were, and I really respected them for that. And I hope I can sing like Marc when I’m older.
So another thing I got to do was go the the Museum of Natural History in DC, which I LOVED! I’m such a fan of things like museums lol. And there was so much to look at there. They had a lot of prehistoric animal skeletons to look at, and I got some pictures so I’ll load those up. But seriously, if you live in that area you need to go that museum! It’s a lot of fun. Well, at least if you like museums it’s fun.
Lastly, this is a big week so make sure to keep up with the Inauguration today! I’ll write another blog soon.
Song for the day: Raise It Up – Jamia Simone Nash and Impact Repertory Theater (From August Rush) I This is a song Jamia sings on August Rush. I think it’s such a cool movie. I first watched it during my trip to Lake Powell during my short break in between The show and tour (and everything else.) So good memories lol.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute
For those who may not be aware, Martin Luther King Jr was a Baptist minister and civil-rights activist, who had a massive impact on race relations in the United States. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. One sentence cannot express his effect on US and international civil rights, so click here for his bio page to read more about him.
Ending with a wonderful Martin Luther King Jr tribute video, to the music of U2’s Pride (so happy to hear that cover on BEGIN.) . Very fitting .
….and an inspirational performance from David along the same theme.
“Climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every rainbow, til you find your dream”
….and one last quote:
Have an awesome Monday, everyone.
