- David got the Birthday Book put together by Shelley, with OVER 1,100 well wishes.
- David got all the other birthday and holiday greetings from fans ~ evidenced by the big box!
- David looked luminous. The thumbs up sign, the smile, the sparkly eyes said it all.

#DA2014: More 2012 David Archuleta Memories
One of my favourites.
And one of the greatest memories of 2012 was the #DA2014 effort, to let David Archuleta David know that he is loved, supported and that his devoted fans will be here when he returns! Brainchild of Monica, the idea spread like wildfire, with the first project, the “We Will Be Here” video, getting massive participation from fans everywhere.
Over the course of 3 short weeks, the word got out, and hundreds of fans sent in pictures showing their name, location and saying, in bold letters, that they will be here! Set to music from Michael Jackson, here is the description of the #DA2014 project from Youtube:

Another #DA2014 project was the #DA2014 Merchandise, organized by Karin (@zerogravity1).
T-shirts, hats, keychains, tumblers, totebags, hoodies and many other items were designed and sold through Marshmallow Dream Facebook page. In the spirit of what this campaign is all about 10% of the sales have gone to Childfund International.
Karin has already given Childfund International a check for $250 with more to come from the sales of the #DA2014 items.

And a third project, Making the World a Good Place, acknowledges those who help to make a difference in this world, no matter how big or small the act of kindness may be. This is a project to help keep David Archuleta fans reaching out to others all over the world who are in need while David’s doing the same on his mission. It will take sacrifices of our own time but the end result of putting a smile on someone’s face is priceless. Each fan who makes a contribution to the site will receive a certificate and A Good Place bracelet as recognition. Learn more about this #DA2014 project here:
And there is also #DA2014FitClub. The Virtual “Club” was established to encourage each of us to incorporate more fitness into our lives during this two year break, and beyond, through group support and awareness. Activities included daily reporting of fitness activities, walking/running up to 1000 miles, biking and reporting miles, a number of others.
For this first week of January, the FitClub is asking us to ATTEMPT to remove any added sugar from our diets (in coffee, tea, drinks, etc) for a week. Make a conscious decision to say “no” to sugar. A sugar substitute (like Stevia) is fine. Great idea!

A need for balance: reflection on #DA2014
All of these activities listed above reminds me of one of the opportunities we have during the (now less than) two year absence of David is to get involved in areas that we may not have either thought of, or not felt we had the time to do before March 2012. As you can tell, we have been scaling back on FOD as well, and will continue to do so even more, to give each of us here more time to engage in our own pursuits, ready to be refreshed and to hit the ground running in 2014!
It’s now 2013, and a good time to reflect on the progress of our own Two Year Plans. Nothing like the first day of a new year to ‘ponder’ for a bit. What is that that will make a difference: to ourselves, our families, our community, our world? You are welcome to share your thoughts on comments, at fodfrontpage@gmail.com or keep it a personal, private journey. David’s absence can be used as a springboard to involve ourselves in, for example, a new fitness activity, learn a new language, to volunteer more, to go on our own “mini-mission”, or create that balance in another way. The possibilities for each of us are endless.

Pastel – you call this mega post ‘scaling back’?! I personally have not seen any scaling back lol. I too love, love, love that ‘I’ll be back’ pic of david. Makes me smile everytime I think about it and all it’s meaning.

Happy New Year to all!!! And what a way to end the year/bring in a new one…that fabulous picture of David sent by the man himself!! He looks amazing!! Healthy, luminous, happy, etc…and those sparkling eyes!! God really did add a dash of Heaven to the mix when he made this guy
. And he really does look like this is where he belongs at this time in his life and that picture will carry me through the next year before he comes back home (next year guys!!!).
I hope you all enjoy a peaceful New Year’s Day celebrating with family and friends or just relaxing as we start into a brand new year! I myself will be cooking a prime rib meal for the family and taking down Christmas decorations and getting things back to a normal routine

Pastel, I also think “I’ll Be Back. David. Kind of Utah #DA2014″ was a highlight of 2012. A moment frozen in time nine months ago and a heartfelt show of solidarity on David’s part. It was one of my favorites from a whole year of favorite moments.
How many times can one say, “What a guy.” I say ad infinitum and it still wouldn’t be too many times.
good morning and happy new year! i finally tried the cakemix+pop recipe last night. i used strawberry cake mix and 12oz of grape pop. then frosted with vanilla frosting and sprinkles of course, then put them in fridge. just had one this morning. they are sweet, dense, and moist, perfection! thankyou so much to whoever shared that recipe here awhile ago
Kim, funny how whenever I watch a vid of david, I find myself smiling all the way through. (even if he is chewing gum with his mouth open which my family would tell you I have no tolerance for. lol) I suspect everyone also smiles all the way through his vids.
I can imagine you standing there, quietly soaking it all up Kim. Am I right? Looks like you must have got a pretty good chance to just stand and quietly observe and enjoy the moment all mesmerized.
It’s a shame about the lady drifting away because of his youthfulness. Although on some level I do understand. Even earlier I was looking at the top pic Pastel posted and thought to myself…’One day I will look back on this pic and be surprised at how young he looks’. I know that, because I have begun doing that with his earlier pics already. It makes me feel a little weird that I squeeed and carried on over someone so young. But that will never stop me. David is young in looks only anyway…and ok…so my 9yo daughter would love to talk Pokemon with him lol….but he has so much maturity and talent and wisdom and goodness….that with david, age really is just a number…or as the case would be – youthfulness is only on the outside. I sure hope that lady finds her way back sooner than later.

Shanny lol think that is the only time I ever saw him do that. as for the lady.. think she represents a lot of older fans who felt uncomfortable him being so young and why we were so drawn to him? went thru the same thing then and for me why yes I do stand back when I go see him live for the most part. don’t get me wrong as you see I let it go here and around and thoroughly enjoy all my time at the concerts and such but getting too close doesn’t work for me. not that I mind others doing it just that I’d rather be like an observer fan and not get that hug etc?
haven’t really worked it all out but have made my peace with it all and just go with it.
now for the lady.. for all I know she still is a fan of his so not too worried about her.
David is so talented and such a fabulous person how could you not like him?
way I see it his potential to be all that and them some is still off the chart.

. Shanny..I know how you feel!! I held my ODD back for quite a while bc of D’s age and I have a daughter the same age lol. It just felt a little weird!! But I slowly discovered this site and others and have met some awesome David fans and realized I wasn’t alone and have allowed myself to enjoy the wonderful ride I was chosen for 
. I believe there is a reason why David has broken into each of our hearts, we are here to serve some type of purpose and I love it 
. And as they say as we all get older, age is just a number

With this 99.9999% chance of a tour, i’m completely wanting to know if D has had preliminary discussions about it or if Kari is just assuming. I fully expect D to come back to music but whether he will tour or not in 2014, I haven’t been so sure of. Might do some acting or writing intermingled with appearances instead? Either way, I’m ready to squee and get excited over the possibility of it. It’s just plain old exciting to think of him being back, making vlogs and posting pics and doing interviews etc.

For the 2014 fit club even though I’m technically a member of it, all the challenges don’t work for me. Walking effects my sciatica and oddly enough just regular aerobics and other things do not. I have officially lost 22 lbs total since I began in September. I could do better but have learned that losing weight slowly is better for me and I’m more apt to keep it off. My daughter finished her personal training certification and is my personal trainer. She has me on 100 ounces of water a day and I keep track of everything on myfitnesspal.com. The suggestion for no sugar for a week I can’t do either because I have low blood sugar problems (but not diabetic). I’m also allergic to sweeteners, so that’s out. My goal has always been to feel better about myself and be healthier. I think it might take another year to get down to the weight I feel comfortable with, but I know I can do it. Have a Happy New Year to David and his family, the FOD family and everyone! Looking forward to that 99.999999% chance of a concert in 2014!
Shanny-I can pretty much assure you it isnt just a figment of Kari’s imagination! HE WILL TOUR!! I would bet on Christmas 2014, throw in some things in the PI in between.

There is a shy part of me that would probably be inclined to stand back and just quietly but intently soak it all in….but I think with david…i would probably have to risk all possibility of making a fool of myself and get myself in there to meet him…and (big breath) ask him for a hug…maybe. Penny…why we were all ‘chosen’ and what that ‘purpose’ is really intrigues me. I really feel that too but it’s like a riddle I can’t solve. For the most part, like you and Kim, I have come to just accept things as they are…but the questions do still skirt about the edges of my mind. The other day I got a little ‘over’ a few of the controversies that go on in the fandom sometimes and the ‘Why’s’ were playing around in my head again…but I still don’t have answers that ring true with me yet. I think one day all the Why’s will become clear…until then we just enjoy and support.
OK MODS-Scaling back…are you serious?? If this is scaled back I cant imagine what going full throttle would be like. This is more then I ever anticipated, when David made the announcement to leave for two years, I had visions of sites shutting down and it being the longest two years of my life! Im deliriously happy to say none of that happened.
And now we have been blessed with a picture directly from the man himself…something else I never thought would happen. Call me one very happy fan! So thankful that his mission president ok’d it. The fact it went viral within seconds of being posted says a lot about the love fans have for this very special young man!

Shanny-the answer is quite simple…its part of the Masterplan…I feel and will forever that it is no accident that we are all here. If you step back and look at the bigger picture it probably has to do with this coming at a time in all of our lives when we needed it for whatever reason. I strongly believe we have been chosen, selected, whatever you want to call it to be here and not by David! Its been quite a fascinating journey and we’ve only just begun!

Oh GG-She is a force to be reckoned with, if you got to know her like a few of us have she was quite the pip, in a good way. I was lucky to get to know her a little more then what fans saw here, she is everything a modern day woman should be…and then some. She will be back when David returns…fire and brimstone couldn’t keep her away!
Candy…ha…one thing I have learnt about myself being a fan of davids and living amongst regular swirling rumours is…I’m a ‘give me evidence, tell me straight’ kind of gal. Not that I don’t believe and hope, just that I guess I always keep a little in reserve, until it’s a done deal. But if I was a betting person, i’d be booking my flights for 2014.

A meeting with Lady V?? Don’t think I know anything about that…except wasn’t she hinting about something on twitter a while a go? And we were hoping it was David related. AND didn’t they have a meeting a few months before he left? I recall something about some mention of going through the archives of songs they have done together previously…? Am I way off or kind of on the right track?
As for ‘When hearts fall out’…just that title alone might make Archie hearts fall out in simple anticipation of what the album might contain.
Shanny- I think its safe to say that within .9millionth of a percent is a pretty sure thing. I do understand those that are a “Doubting Thomas” as Im married to one. He needs proof positive to strike him before he believes anything. Me I like to take people at there word, especially when they have given it to me and even more so when that person is Kari.
Janel, I can have a tendency to have low blood sugar at times too – sometimes if I go to long without eating. But some fruit usually helps. That might be a better alternative for you? Keep up the good work! And make sure you don’t talk back to your personal trainer just because she’s your daughter.

Janel-I too have issues with not being able to exercise, three back surgeries have made that next to impossible. But that doesnt mean I cant eat healthier, of course that doesnt mean giving up my beloved diet coke, not happening! I hear ya about the low blood sugar thing too, my kids and I all have varying issues with it.
omg u guys! just had my first freaky scare of 2013. my hungover idiot BF just told me to go on his FB page and delete all his drunken rants from late last night so i was like yeah sure! thinking-ooh this is gonna be fun to see who and what is all on his page lol! so one of the first things i see on his page is a comment from jeff archuleta! my mind started racing like what the heck?? he is FB friends with jeff archuleta?! how on earth is that even possible?!! so i click on his name and of course it was a different jeff archuleta! wow, that woke me up good! haha!
Hey Penny-Yup, it feels good to know that we were invited on this journey, and in those few moments when Ive toyed with thoughts of “what am I doing here, a grown woman hanging on a fan site” something, or someone jolts me back to reality! I dont question anymore, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

First off…i guess I want to be clear that I don’t doubt for one minute Kari’s integrity or anything like it. If she says something is so, then I fully believe her. What I tend to be cautious of ..is letting my hopes and wishes colour the way I interpret what has been said.
In this situation I guess I can see Kari having had casual conversations with david prior to him leaving about how he plans, on resuming his career when he gets back. In her minds eye she may have thought that meant ‘definite tour’ while david may have.thought ‘definite song writing’. Not saying Kari is not truthful etc
But really…is not a big issue. Was really just thinking out loud earlier. She is after all ‘KariOnTour. lol David must have picked her for a reason right!?

Shanny, I too would be talking to him left and right and picking his brain. Ha! I’ve often imagined what it would be like running into him at a restaurant where no fans knew he would be, none of his security guards or management surrounding him, no media in his face, just to ask if I can talk with him for a few minutes. The things I think about telling him and asking him always change, but I’m sure some of us have thought of the same scenario or similar ones. What would you all ask or tell him? It would have to be something not asked to death already by interviewers. LOL. I did get that precious time alone with him at the Utah Entertainment awards before the other fans noticed him. That was nice. But it was loud so he didn’t hear me too well. Had to repeat myself a couple times.

Janel, Kim…i think if I knew I had a good amount of time with him, I would be able to talk easily. I think it’s the ‘ten seconds to say something meaningful’ that might make me tongue tied. Same with writing him a postcard or a short note – not enough space for this long winded person here. Janel…in your situation at the awards, I think i’d still have the same problem…only a short time.

I’m probably one of the older fans here, and i don’t consider myself a fangirl but a fannanny. I support David like i would one of my grandsons, this is what i tell my children when they make a remark. I admire what he stands for and that voice is captivating. Kimk, I think that Donny Osmond is a good entertainer, but just can’t compare him to David, I always thought that Donny had kinda a “milktoast” (bland) persona. Imo, David can sing circles around him. I think the only thing they share is their religion. I know that Donny has a fantastic career and I don’t have anything against him at all, but I feel that David has more depth, richness and soul to his voice and personality. I know that when he returns he will be able to completely let loose and show all us fans the awesome singer/dancer/entertainer that he has been holding back.

Glitter girl…can’t really know how the fans will react – definitely lots of chatter over it I think. I tend to think….if we can survive him announcing a mission and then leaving for 2 years, we can survive him getting married. lol
And hmmm…i just really, really hope that no matter who he chooses that the fans will treat her and their relationship with the upmost respect. I have very definite views on how I would like her to be – and of course it’s extremely likely she won’t meet all my wish-list requirements (or at least ‘appear’ to meet all those requirements from the limited knowledge we will have of her) but I will honour her, no matter who she is because if david chooses her then she must be pretty special. Again…that would be my biggest concern…that she/they wouldn’t be treated respectfully.
Glitter – I think when it comes to choosing a wife, david won’t care who is best for his career.
But obviously what is best for his career, would be a high profile person. Lots of celebs increased their popularity by who they dated/married. Selena Gomez, Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, etc etc.

Hi everybody, just watched that New Video kimk posted, it was really great, David Sang White Christmas, did a great job, the person who filmed the video said that he had heard that TOSOD CD was illegally downloaded 600,000 times, does that seem possible? If so that is awful, fans just hurt their artist, and cost them money.

Candy I totally agree with you, but 6000,000 illegally down loads seem like quite a bit to me. I now Jive and David didn’t push it much, that is no reason to steal somebody’s music, not saying that is what you said, people who do that are not true fans of an artist. I really don’t know what was going on in David’s life at the time. I just think it is wrong, and I know you do too. JMO
I remember in an interview jasmine and eula did before david arrived in the philippines…..she said she expected there to be rumours about them being in a relationship with david.
Perhaps uncoincidentally that forecast of jasmine’s was very accurate. I’m sure she wanted and likes the rumours.

Think that was an extremely difficult time for david. Remember it was before the release of that album that he sung Be Still My Soul and cried while singing it.
Poor guy. Glad he got to take his break and serve a mission. Recollect himself after all that he went through.

Shanny-May have to disagree with you on that one, it was Mike who was interested in pushing Elevator, he had free access to Davids ear 24/7 and once he planted the seed David ran with it. I also do think it came at a time when David was torn with timing going on a mission, he owed Jive a third album and delivered. He talked about building a foundation in January of 2011, shortly after the release of TOSOD but it was never mentioned again.

I fully agree that Mike had David’s ear and there is every chance Mike was only to glad to promote Elevator with David…but I highly suspect that David wanted Elevator too. The reason I think that is because of two things closely related….1. we know David is a very highly spiritual person who tries to listen for and follow the leading of God in his life and 2. Elevator was written in what…a 2 hour period?…after he had a dream. I seriously think david felt that Elevator was given to him from God and because of that, it was the song that he should promote first. Just my thoughts and feelings on it.

How different we see things, I felt Elevator came from his confusion as to who he was going to select as his manager, WEG ended up being his choice. His dream ended up being his worst nightmare!

What does God and Elevator have to do with each other? Yes….elevator WAS a result of david’s confusion over which management…but dreams are also a way that spiritual people believe God sometimes communicates with His children. And when david took that dream and it turned into a song so easily and quickly, I can just see him wondering if perhaps the dream was given to him by God.
I know he said it was about his confusion over management…and it was…but if he also felt it was from God, I doubt he’d share something so intimate as that with us.

Also I notice that I am more drawn to the missionary one – think it’s because his face and light is so open and happy there. Makes me feel like this is the real david just being his normal, infectious self. The posed photo, while he looks great makes me feel like that is an affectation – he’s acting so to speak.

Shanny, I completely agree. I also prefer “missionary” David as well, or well just “normal” David. It’s fun to see pics from photo shoots and the like, but at the end of the day the pics I enjoy best are those of D just being himself

frio- I like to see normal David. I was fortunate to see some of his normal, not the actor, not the singer and model, a normal young guy who also playful, upset sometimes, a little aggressive, naughty lol But he is really a nice guy, that’s why he glow.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind knowing what his photogenic secrets are. I have never been photogenic…wrong angles on my face or something. I was a bit anxious how my wedding pics would come out but thankfully, the photographer must have been especially talented cos they came out ok.
And yep…think his goodness just oozes out his pores thats why he shines so much.

Frio – yeah ‘normal’ smiley david is my favourite. My fav pics are ALWAYS the mega-watt-smile-filled-with-joy pictures.
Shanny- David don’t have bad angle lol, but honestly he look good in every angle. No, he is not acting, no one was with him then lol He can express his earthly emotions lol not intentionally but naturally lol, he go with the flow, what he want he will do it.
Frio- he is also a human being just like us with a lot of emotions lol, he look like an angel but he is also a human being like all of us.
Shanny- I wish the surprises is another album those that not release yet with Matt Clayton pictures cover pic and inside pic.
I’m hoping that David could tour also in Australia in 2014, so you could see and watch him perform, it’s a different experience, you will want more of him. And so you could meet him in person.

Regarding this year, I would be more than happy with an EP release. He’s only had one EP released. It’s just he’s been chugging out albums for the past 5 years. Just thinking of other ways he could release music scaled back. But then, wouldn’t the MC pics be used for a physical product? Hmm. Just thinking what’s in store for us this year hehe.

Frio, i’m wondering what happened to the ‘banked’ songs. But either way…it is obvious old songs can still be released with help from the applicable co-songwriters – like LadyV – so there’s always hope. Gosh I always feel greedy when I ‘hope’ for more david music – hs has given us boatloads already.

As for the ‘banked’ songs. I recall that apparently Jeff told a fan that david had been ‘banking’ songs…this was after the announcement. Can’t remember any more details though. And remember david went through that period when he was working on his own songwriting and he played and sung a few gah-worthy notes on a vlog. And he seemed to be doing some sort of production work with Sunny and at some stage.before he left, didn’t he go to Nashville for a cpuple of meetings and some input on his songwriting?
Speaking of singing…i have always meant to ask…cos I saw some comments that I thought seemed to imply it….when david sang at the devotional during the MTC period, did the fans ever get to hear a recording of that song?
