I Need A Silent Night Poll
I must say, at first this song didn’t really stand out to me among the jazzy amazingness of This Christmas, the festive Sleigh Ride or the reverence of Ave Maria or Silent Night, but this was David singing, so that fact alone made this song totally legit. I remember it being sung by Amy Grant, and her version sounds more like a mom singing about the hectic blur of the Christmas season in all its materialistic plastic-santa-and-reindeer-on-the-roof glory while she struggles to return to simpler times.
However, when David sings it, he infuses the song with a heartfelt yearning to slow down and savor the miracle of the season – to reflect on the reason we are celebrating at all and to end each crazy day with a silent night. This is now one of my favorite songs!

I was told about it while I was shopping with my 24 yo daughter and my granddaughter. At times while I was resting and she was shopping, I tried to click the link and it wouldn’t work on my iPhone. Missed opportunity.

It was a stream from the lds.org site. They don’t put live videos up immediately but I do see some there that were added later. Not sure if they’ll add it to their videos or not but it’s worth keeping an eye out.

Ok the link only works on some browsers. It worked on IE for me but not on WaterFox.

It’s a weird stream though. I’m using Chrome and that link just downloads as an .asf file. It will have to be opened in a media player like Windows Media Player or Real Player or VLC Player.
Did anyone actually see it on twitter? Any Archies? Anyone that can fill us in and give us a recap or something on twitter or another site? Desperation here, lols! I will probably get in trouble for this. But wait if it was a live broadcast from the lds.org site it is soooooo public right? I would think so.

Frankly, I’m stunned that the Church would broadcast the Devotional concert on a public website. I was under the impression that these concerts were private, top secret and not to be discussed, mentioned or breathed about anywhere. I think the Church will be getting some serious letters/emails of complaint from certain segments of David’s fanbase. I really hope these fans are careful in their criticism and do not offend the Church in the name of protecting David’s privacy. It could get ugly. If they really want to stop the Church, they may want to hire a litigator and get an injunction to prohibit the Church from broadcasting the Devotionals with David in order to protect his privacy and the sanctity of his mission experience. I’m sure peeps are setting up the legal fund now.

I have not laughed so hard in a very long time.

Mckenzie – lol I just snorted out loud reading your post. I understand that some people felt like they were really trying to protect what they felt David was asking for but seriously if the church is streaming his show out to the entire world to see then I think maybe we should all take that cue and loosen up a bit. I’m not saying about every detail of his mission but a public performance is a public performance.
It was fine to talk about David singing with the MTC choir during general conference. So it should be fine to talk about this show that the LDS church felt fine to broadcast. But that’s just my humble opinion and I’ll stick to site rules until told otherwise

I totally got what you were saying, McKenzie. And, it was very funny. I have felt all along that the church would be happy to have the positive buzz around David’s singing. I am not sure this was a broadcast of David’s Concert that was held last night. I went and looked at the links and read what was said and it appears that this was a Christmas Concert from Santiago that was broadcast over the Church’s system to churches all over Chili. It appears David made an appearance and sang but there were a lot of other performances that went on. I think the broadcast was meant for members of the Church in Chili but the links were posted for people on the net who wanted to pick it up there.
Ok I just tried the link again and it opened for me on Waterfox this time. You just have to click on the windows media option and wait for it to load. lols….. No D right now of course.
This was the most exciting thing in a long time. 
If anyone knows anything, please post it on twitter or anywhere and just shoot us a link and we will go there. THANK you in advance!!!!!!!!

bds – no this was not last night’s show. This broadcast was live. It was an outdoor event in Santiago. There were people who were there tonight tweeting about it. Wow wow wow his spanish has improved guys. I remember when he sang Los Pastores a Belen at the MOTAB he did not say correctly the word “Rotos” he said it in a way that it was not understandable but not he said it perfectly with no accent!!!!
