Today’s poll in choosing another song for the MKOCFTH setlist is a song from the TOSOD ATE (The Other Side Of Down Asia Tour Edition), “Wait.” There were many INCREDIBLE vids and performances to choose from which was reflected in the number of responses. It was necessary to whittle it down just a bit due to the number of vids, but feel free to use the “other” option when voting.
The emotion pulsates through”Wait” at an all time high. David completely immerses himself into the music and lyrics of the song; it’s a beautiful thing to see~

Holiday Of Hope 12-06-2008: Lily Takes Us Back!

“Dec. 6, 2008, the Holiday of Hope Tree Lighting ceremony, with the One Heartland VIP Pre-Reception for guests who donated, was the first time I saw David up close… like 2 feet close!! A local fan was offering ride-shares to the event, so I was lucky enough to garner a spot, to ride in her van! When she picked me up, the van was full of young fans, decades younger than me..LOL! No fear or regrets… I had a great time, and still see some of these fans from time to time; we have become good friends!
David sang Angels and O Holy Night at the VIP event! Afterward, he was interviewed outside this venue (on the second level of the Hollywood and Highland Center. It was when he was escorted out that David passed within two feet of me because I was stuck by myself behind a roped area… and as he passed by he humbly said, “thank you for coming!”… this is the charm of David, his humility, as we all know and love! After his radio interview outside, David was hustled downstairs by his ‘security’ to the outdoor stage for the free performance. He was introduced by a local TV entertainment anchor, Ross King. By the time I made my way to the stage area, there were many fans lined up in front of me, some of whom were much taller than me. I did take a few photos there, but decided to find a better vantage point; I saw a circular fountain with a wide wall about 2 feet high, so I proceeded to climb on the wall. Just then David’s Aunt Lauri decided to do the same thing, for the purpose of having a better view! That was short-lived because a security guard came by and said he couldn’t permit anyone on the wall, for our own safety! LOL… so much for that! I ended up standing to the side of the stage-left, alongside Lauri and David’s Grandpa Archuleta and his wife. Some of my photos were taken from this spot. After David’s performance, Ross King invited the audience to join him in singing ♫HaPpY BiRtHdAy♫ to David! The finale of the evening was the tree-lighting, as David and Santa watched… and we all cheered! ♥ “

On MoTab….i was surprised to see 2010….here I was thinking it was last year lol….must be because we got the DVD last year. Am I the only one who is starting to get my david trivia mixed up…i used to like that I knew a whole bunch of stuff about david but now I find its getting a little mixed up in my brain. Vabeach…they don’t really do long holiday retail hours here. The last week before Christmas usually I think, they open to about 9pm but other than that its business as usual albeit frenzied. lol From a shoppers perspective I wish they would extend the hours. Rest up!

Kimk, ITA with you on Ed Sheeran. Listening to A Team now and it really is a stand out song. I agree with you on David collaborating with Ed, too. A Team is one of those message songs David loves, that brings attention to the troubles of the world that we need to work on resolving. We all know David is a message song guy and Ed seems to be, too. We should put a collab on the bucket list for Kari to look into. I agree with you also, that if David really goes for it, he’ll be noticed. How can you not notice someone as magnetic as he is and with such undeniable talent. A good label is the first step and hopefully can be arranged quickly when he gets home.

Tami lyn, I agree with you, too, to a point. When Beiber-tweeber was nominated for Best New Artist a couple years ago, I pretty much swore off the Grammys. Now, though, with folks like Ed Sheeran, Gotye and Adelle we’re starting to see quality music seeping back into the main stream. Keeping my fingers crossed that that trend will continue in 2013 and pave the way for artists like David to get the recognition they deserve.

Hi everyone. Lot of good things posted todayJoanie. Hard to decide which Wait to go with. Gee, Charlotte received the FEE I sent her already. That is the second one I ordered. I have 2 more comung. Now the Michael Buble and Pop Christmas albums I orered from Amazon will arrive Saturday. I got all the stuff I ordered for Christmas on Cyber Monday delivered in the last two days. Now only about 20 more gifts to buy. sarahhazel- Love all your links. Been trying to straighten up the house for Christmas Eve. If I could only order online, someone to come and do it for me that would be great.

Hi Linda- That is so sweet of you. I feel like I’m from Little Orphan Annie singing “Tomorrow, Tomorrow”. We do Christmas Eve at my house every Christmas. They love my Stuffed Cabbage and Hungarian cookies. The little ones will only eat pizza. I cook all kinds of things including ham and lasagna. Lot of work but I love seeing them.

Sgj! –We have prime rib and ham for Christmas morning. The grandsons spend Christmas eve with thier mom and her family. Then they Spend Christmas morning with us and thier Dad. We always had our big Christmas Dinner on Christmas day anyway. I love Christmas.

Kim, I was re-reading D’s liner notes from Begin earlier. He says…speaking of Broken and Jon Hunt who is the co-song writer….”you’ve helped me be able to stick to who I am not just as a person but also musically as an artist.”
It got me thinking……so is Broken the kind of musical sound David has decided is ‘his sound’? Its definitely vocally driven which is what he has said he wants to do going forward.

A lot of popular muscicians these days are more acoustic guitar sounding. Whereas david is the piano man. The instruments lead to different sounding music I think. Although they can and do overlap a bit.

Yeah…i was just talking about what kind of music david might be likely to make going forward since that stood out to me earlier.
I’m not sure on the Lds grammy thing. I know some artists have had success in mainstream kind of ways…Hilary Weeks….and of course the Osmonds. There may be some more classical or instrumental artists who have had success too but I couldn’t give you any details. Gladys Knight is Lds too. Would be strange to not have something – LDS people tend to be a musical bunch. Me – not so much. lol But i’m rectifying that with my kids.

Just got back from voting, now I’m sleepy. It would be great if David was honored by a Grammy someday. He did get the ALMA Award and he blew everyone away with his performance. He was shinning extra bright that night. He sings so beautifully in foreign languages. I’m floored by him. Can’t wait to hear him sing “The Prayer” in Italian. Mama Mia!!!
I loved when he was on “Larry King” with all the other great male singers and sang Pat-A-Pan. That was a thrill that night to see him. Larry King liked David a lot and gave him the recognition he deserved. It was Larry Kings Christmas present to his fans. He chose the best and our dear, darling David was there.
