Crush Kids’ Cancer: The Kids’ Chapter’s David Archuleta Christmas/Birthday Project

With the holidays and David Archuleta’s birthday nearing, The Kids’ Chapter is starting our Christmas/Birthday Project!

Starting now until the end of the year, you have the chance to purchase this special Crush Kids’ Cancer ornament! A portion of the proceeds from this ornament will be donated to Crush Kids’ Cancer as our Christmas and Birthday present to David this year!

The ornament is $12 and will hang nicely on every Archie’s Christmas tree, or could be a great stocking stuffer! If you do not celebrate Christmas but still want to be a part of this project, you can always purchase an ornament and give it to someone you know will love it, or donate it to a local hospital, etc.

Project starts Nov 1 until Dec 31, 2012, and at the end we will be letting David know how many ornaments sold and how much was raised for Crush Kids’ Cancer! We know David will love this Christmas/Birthday present from all of his fans this year!

You can go HERE to purchase a Crush Kids’ Cancer ornament.

It’s the season of giving (and celebrating David’s birthday) and The Kids’ Chapter is excited for this new end-of-the-year, holiday project!

David’s final (rescheduled) concert of the David/Demi tour in the summer of 2009 was in Atlantic City at the Taj Mahal hotel in Atlantic City, NJ. Elysian (Lyn’s)”No Cal” With Lorma Story!

Thank you so much, Lyn, for sending in your lovely story about the recent Northern California Archie get together!! It must have been great fun to spend time together once again and to meet Lorma!! Enjoy the pics sent in by Robin, and continue reading the story below. **Click the pics to view full size**

Welcoming back the lovely Lorma of Archuleta Philippines for her second visit with the Nor-Cal Archies, and celebrating the imminent release of the Rainbow music video, and  Forevermore Expanded Edition, were the triple themes of our latest fan gathering, which gave us three TERRIFIC reasons to meet up. As usual, we all had FUN, FUN, FUN!!!! It is the inevitable result whenever more than one Archie is in a room! There is a spontaneous eruption of Archuspazzing that simply cannot be contained!!!

This, our third Nor-Cal get together, was held only about a month after our last, because we wanted it to coincide with Lorma’s return visit to the U. S. Her trip was multi-purpose, combining a vacation in New York, a wedding in Napa, and two weeks of work in Pleasanton, CA. In the midst of this jam packed itinerary, Lorma was kind enough to meet us for dinner which was scheduled on a Thursday because it was the only day that she had free. While 14 of the Nor-Cal Archies were able to greet Lorma during her first visit, this time work commitments or other obligations prevented the majority of our group from attending the dinner. Even those who had initially thought that they could join the festivities had to cancel at the last minute because of work deadlines. (We missed you Jeanne and Neil!) The four of us who were lucky enough to juggle our work schedules enough to attend (Kalena, Robin, Theresa and I), were therefore tasked with conveying tons of love and hugs to Lorma for the rest of the group, all of whom voiced their disappointment at not being able to welcome Lorma back in person.

The venue for the dinner was Coco Cabana, a beautiful and elegant Latin American restaurant in Dublin, CA, featuring many cuisines including Honduran, which was suggested by Kalena in honor of David’s heritage. Kalena has an amazing knack for picking unique restaurants with delicious food and a special David connection. She could make a killing as a concierge! As it turned out, Coco Cabana was a particularly appropriate place for our celebration for reasons that will be revealed later.

Robin and I picked Lorma up from her hotel on the way to the restaurant. En route, she  told us that she had just flown into San Francisco a few hours earlier after a flight that had taken 14 hours due to layovers and flight delays! Despite the fact that she must have been exhausted, she was enthusiastic, cheerful and ready to party! We were the first ones to arrive at Coco Cabana, so we immediately began to Archutize our table by setting up the cute and colorful paper flower centerpieces Robin had stayed up late making the previous night. (GREAT idea Robin!!) In addition to the lovely pink and lavender paper flowers, the two centerpieces contained mini 2-sided posters of David. Robin had made these little gems using the GORGEOUS rainbow-hued images that were generously shared with us by Cindy aka CanadianArchie. Kalena had seen some of the awesome collages that Cindy had made in the past, so she asked Cindy whether we could use some of her images for our decorations. She not only graciously agreed, but she created customized rainbow themed images just for us!! THANK YOU SO MUCH CINDY! Yet another awesome example of the helpfulness so characteristic of all Archies! In this case, a Canadian Archie, helping American Archies, honor a Filipina Archie!! I LOOOOVE David’s international fanbase!

As we finished up with the centerpieces, Kalena and Theresa arrived, completing our intimate group of five. Robin, who recently returned from New Orleans, draped rainbow colored Mardi Gras beads on Lorma’s neck and gave some to the rest of us. Kalena then busily began setting out her latest FABULOUS handcrafted favors, which included a personalized lanyard with a laminated KILLER photo of David from the Forevermore EE CD (which we all couldn’t wait to put on), and glitter coated pinecones which were in different colors representing the colors of the rainbow, the holidays, and was in reference to David’s “Pinecone” vlog in which he shows and talks about a friend painting a pinecone. Kalena also made absolutely EXQUISITE clear glass Xmas ornament on which she had etched  “Peace” on one side and “DA 2014″ on the other, tied at the top with a ribbon on which was a musical scale. Kalena’s usual attention to detail was evident in that the box containing the ornament was adorned with photos of David both inside and out, and it was filled with rainbow colored shredded paper to cushion the ornament and carry through the Rainbow theme.

We then gave Lorma our David related gifts. Robin gave her a BEAUTIFUL, one of a kind, pink t-shirt she had designed with a silhouette of David, “BEGIN” and flowers on it, as well as a BEGIN key chain. Kalena gave her one of the AWESOME goodie filled bags like the one she gave to all of the Nor-Cal Archies at our last fan gathering, and I gave her a set of 4 glass photo coasters, each showcasing a different image of David’s handsome face. Kalena also thoughtfully gave Lorma goodie bags for her to take back to the Philippines, with gifts she had made for jackryan, MyDearWriter, Kricket, Naree and Eula.

By this time, our David decorations and David related gifts piqued the curiosity of Claudio, our UBER professional and personable waiter, who asked who the guy was in all of the photos. After explaining that David was an awesome singer who had been on AI, Theresa asked whether Claudio was Honduran. He replied no, he was Chilean!!! We couldn’t believe it!!!! How perfect to be eating in a restaurant featuring Honduran cuisine with a Chilean waiter!! Obviously, Archu-fate in action!!! Naturally, we had to tell him that David was currently in Chile serving a two year mission. Claudio told us that he is from Vino Del Mar which is approximately 45-55 minutes from Santiago. From that point on, Claudio became the honorary sixth member of our party, cheerfully obliging us by taking tons of photos of us whenever we asked (and we asked a lot!), joking with us, and attending to our every need. Claudio, YOU ROCK!

As we feasted on delicious Latin American cuisine, including Peruvian pesto pasta, chipotle pasta, Cuban garlic chicken, and salmon asado, we chatted about a wide range of topics. For example, we discovered that we are all team Holly (Jolly for the WIN!!).  Lorma, who is a good friend of Eula’s, confirmed that she is a sweet, sincere and lovely person, and that she has two new movies coming out. One is a romance and the other is science fiction! Unfortunately, neither will be available in the States. RATS! Lorma also showed us photos of herself that she took while in New York with both Paul Rudd, who was starring in the play she saw, and Savannah Guthrie of the Today Show!! Lorma is a regular celebrity magnet!! Lorma also confirmed, as jackryan has been consistently assuring us, that Nandito Ako will be available as a DVD when it has finished its run on TV in the U.S. (Keep the faith PEEPS!)

Lorma then presented the utterly FABULOUS gifts that jackryan and Archuleta Philippines had sent with her to be used as raffle prizes at our get together. We were simply BLOWN AWAY by their generosity!! Jackryan gifted us with not one, but 3 sets of the ENTIRE 7th season of AI (each comprised of 4 DVDs), a DVD of David’s Bench concert in Manila, and a DVD of  the acoustic CASBAA concert in Hong Kong (my all-time favorite David concert!!!), all from her private collection of spectacular videos documenting David’s stellar performances. Our appreciation for her willingness to share these rare beauties with us is beyond what can be expressed in words!!! As if we weren’t already in Archuheaven, Lorma and Archuleta Philippines gifted us with the AMAZING Nandito Ako t-shirt like the one that David wore in the BTS photoshoot!!! We put our personalized lanyards in a bag and enlisted the ever accommodating Claudio to pick the lucky winner of this t-shirt treasure. I was STUNNED when he picked my name!! WOOHOO!! What a great time to finally break my lifelong streak of never winning anything! Our heartfelt thanks to jackryan, Lorma and Archuleta Philippines for their thoughtfulness and EXTREME generosity!!

The final surprise of the evening was the ADORABLE and YUMMY tiramisu Rainbow cake Robin brought which said “Welcome back Lorma! The Nor-Cal Archies “heart symbol” you!” It also had a peace symbol on it to reflect David’s mission of peace and love in Chile. Finally, it was decorated with another mini poster of one of Cindy’s incredible collages. Using a mini poster, instead of a photo of David scanned onto the cake was Robin’s clever solution to our dilemma of not being able to cut into or eat a cake with David’s gorgeous face on it! LOL!

Throughout the evening, Robin was tweeting photos of our get together so that those in the Twitterverse could get real time updates of our festivities and vicariously share in the fun.

When we realized that it was 10:15 p.m. and we were one of the last groups in the restaurant, we left, saying goodnight to our new Chilean friend, Claudio. Not wanting the evening to end just yet, we all went back to Lorma’s hotel and saw the BEAUTIFUL bridesmaid dress that she would wear in her childhood friend’s wedding, and we continued to chat about all things David. At 11:00 p.m., we finally took our leave so that Lorma could get some much needed sleep, although she claimed not to be tired! Gracious to the end!! We all hugged and thanked each other for the mutual gifts, and for the special camaraderie that exists between Archies.

I have saved the very best news of the evening, however, for last. We were absolutely THRILLED to hear that Lorma, Jackryan and Naree are all planning to travel to the U.S. for David’s first post-mission concert!!! YIPEEE!!! How much more awesome will that EPIC concert be if we can experience it together with three of our most dear and WONDERFUL Archufriends, who have selflessly shared so many breathtaking photos, videos and experiences with the fan base!! We now have yet another reason to look forward to what will surely be the concert of a lifetime!! 2014 can’t come soon enough!!!!

~ Lynn aka Elysian~

Joanie thank you.. oh my David looks so handsome in a tux!!

  2. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

Thanks for the new post!! :) Happy Thursday!

Sooo excited for the possibility of NEW MUSIC from David???!!! Yippeee!!

This is a repost from the last thread:

    tamil lyn @ 8:44am
“it’s so ironic. here we are trying not to talk about religion because it can be upsetting to some people while david is out there talking about religion all day every day to virtual strangers. most of us at some level admire what he is doing but we are unable to do it ourselves even among friends. why?”

Well said tami lyn. That is the question. Beats me.

    too cute!

  4. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

kimk – “No mucho” LOL. Seriously, they were SO cute together. :)

  5. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

She…she ain’t real. She ain’t goin’ be able to love you like I will.

  6. kimk says:

why talk about it all anyway? why does it matter?
thing about religion and politics (if you read all the goings on on twitter it is nuts)
it can cause hurt feelings, disagreements, and even wars for that matter.

  7. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

kimk – lol. So can ANY topic associated with David. People here almost come to virtual blows just talking about a SONG.

  8. Janel aka Nellie says:

Happy November everyone and Feliz Dia De los Muertos!
I don’t mind discussing religion but here it gets way to heated and in the past I have been slammed for my beliefs and told the church does and teaches things which aren’t true and dealt with a lot of critism of the church. It just gets old and tired.

  9. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

If that’s the case then we shouldn’t talk about anything…maybe just come up with alter ego names. (Although eventually even that will become a “urinating contest” as Candy puts it.) I rather like David’s new one…Delicious Daytona! :P

  10. tami lyn says:

good morning juicy lol :) well said my friend!
good morning kim :) yes that is true but that didn’t stop david from doing what he’s doing. wonder how many people slam the door in his beautiful face and how many people invite him in? would be very interesting to know! i heard most people in chile are catholic. they are probably not interested in having a convo about the mormon church.

  11. kimk says:

lol ok that is true.. honestly just don’t want things to get ugly.
    when it does
want to hug you all.. guess it is the mom in me.
dang I miss David a ton.

  12. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

janel – No disrespect at all intended but we all deal with criticisms, etc. I just take it with a grain of salt because I know that its someone else’s thoughts. It is NO REFLECTION of me and who I am. It actually makes me think more introspectively as a result and that’s a good thing imo.

  13. sarahhazel says:

Happy 218th day!!! Thanks for the wonderful Thursday post, Joanie!!!
Super gorgeous smiley top pic….lurve it and the others ones as well!
Gonna buy me that Crush Kids ornament….Christmas decorating almost here!
Nice AC concert walk down memory lane….he looked so cute in that jacket at the VIP!

  14. nora says:

ksf-so let the people who, choose to talk about religion do so, and the people who don’t want to talk about what they want to, nobody is stopping anybody from talking about what they want.

  15. journey says:

Just a lowly lurker here, but I have to agree with kimk at 9:13.

  16. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

tami lyn – it definitely takes a lot to be able to withstand what ANY type of missionary does. Now THAT’S criticism. To have a door literally slammed in your face. I must admit that I’ve never had the door slammed in my face but I have been persecuted for my beliefs, kicked out of someone’s home. The ironic thing is that it actually made me STRONGER and even more convinced of what I believe. Not because of my own thoughts and feelings but because of what the Bible teaches. Maybe that’s why online discussions don’t bother me much. You can talk about something without getting “heated” but it is a choice.

kimk- Thanks “mom.” Lol. Hugs back to ya.

  17. sarahhazel says:

OK, I’m all for freedom of speech here as long as it doesn’t get too heated or disrespectful…but just so you know…..going to read but not participate in any discussions about religion (and politics) anymore…..just not my cup of tea….& that’s all, folks!

  18. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

nora – I agree, although I thought that’s what we were already doing.

  19. kimk says:

tamilyn Jeh W come talk to me all the time.. lol they call me Miss Kim. I don’t wish to convert I just know from David what they are trying to do so I listen. they are kind and I find it a pleasant convo for the most part. do not agree with all they are talking about and I tell them that but they and I don’t seem to mind.
think for the most part they know that yes there may be a 100 doors that slam on them but just to reach one soul it makes it all worth it? think
this will help David when he comes back.. this is the real world. not always great but if you try hard and don’t give up I at least feel you will be rewarded in kind.
in the least you will be a better person for being able to accomplish what it is you wished to and so much more then if you had given up.
think the folks that are more successful are not the smarter folks just the more purposeful driven folks.
that can do attitude is what folks and America is all about.
at least I hope so going forward.
all I can speak to is myself.. giving up is not an option and hope for David
that is one thing he will learn.
kind of think he may know that for the most part any way.
think he is ahead of the game.. and will touch a lot of lives where he is.
kind of jealous.. cause I miss all that sunshine he has brought into our lives.

  21. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

I wonder if Delicious Daytona has shown up in Chile? Lol

  22. Juicy Jubilee (formerly known as ksf) says:

kimk – Definitely if David came to my door I would listen. LOL. Ok, not really but it would be a nice excuse just to talk to him face to face. He might leave with some things to think about, as I’m sure I would. Things like, “What color are his eyes REALLY?” and “I can’t believe he speaks perfect Spanish??!”

  23. tami lyn says:

kim~ that was a beautiful statement! well said :) miss kim huh? that’s so cute!!

  24. angelbymyside says:

I’m all for freedom of speech and healthy discussions especially about politics and religion. I may not agree with your views but certainly respect your right to speak about them. Just hope that people will remain respectful towards others point of view. Again, I don’t see what the problem is about posting/reading missionary blogs. The missionary’s family has the option to make the blog private, do they not? Since they choose not to, they must assume people other than family members are going to read it. I for one find it interesting to read about what they encounter on their mission and to learn about the struggles they face.

  25. ray says:

juicy, seeing as how you are h*** bent on discussing religion, how about yours, lets discuss that, you instagator you.lol

  26. Grammyj says:

I was diagnosed with Breast cancer the beginning of October which appropriately was “breast cancer awareness month”. Before this I had no health issues and have only been admitted to the hospital to have my daughter. Music has always been important to me, and now my go to albums are TOSOD and BEGIN. I am so glad that David has recorded so many inspirational songs because that is what is needed so often. It is helpful to me during this trying time.

My faith is also very important to me and more so now. I am not Mormon but have found it interesting to learn what Mormon’s believe. Of course I wish David had decided to not go on a mission, but since it is almost a rite of passage for young Mormon men I was not surprised that he went. I think his going will be a big encouragement for other young Mormons to go on a mission too. I do believe that David will come back to music as that is who he is. Whatever he wants to sing, I will be there to buy his music as he has the most beautiful, soothing voice. He is helping me through this ordeal.

Many errands to go today….BBL :D

  32. Lucy says:

Morning all, just to throw my two cents in briefly, I am not a real religious person but I do believe in a higher power, I am Ojibwe Indian and we do have our beliefs as do other cultures of course. I think that there is no right or wrong when it comes to religion and beliefs, I feel that we should respect each other as much as possible and we are who hwe are and we should be accepted for that. We do that here no matter what the topic is, we care about each other and we listen to one another. I think you guys are great, I love coming here, it’s so much fun! I hope I didn’t sound to cheesy! Have a good day all!

  33. sigi says:

My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Our dear David fan friend Harold Weinstein in NJ told me his home was destroyed by a falling tree as a result of hurricane Sandy. He and is family are OK, but request prayers.

  37. Janel aka Nellie says:

    Hugs GrammyJ!

  38. Janel aka Nellie says:

Just re-read Harolds message to me, his home was destroyed by falling “trees” plural, not just one tree. I messaged him back, but no response. He probably was just able to get the one message through for now.

  39. VaBeachArchie says:

Grammy J…Praying for successful treatment and a speedy recovery. Unfortunately cancer is still affecting millions and their families! Take care and God bless!

Guess I can’t stall any longer….off to work! Hugs to all! :)

  40. Grannycrush says:

GrammyJ Prayers coming your way for successful treatment of this awful disease. Be strong and use David’s beautiful voice to help you through this time.

  41. Candy says:

Janel-cell service in NJ is spotty at best, many cell towers are down. AT&T and Sprint are trying to link into other cell towers to provide temporary service. Many towns still have restricted entry, no power, water, heat, sewer, lines at gas stations are three miles long. Food supplies cant get to stores, people still in shelters…its a mess!! Casinos closed for a record fifth day. Nothing here is anywhere near normal and wont be for many months to come. Glad you heard from Harold.

  42. Candy says:

Grammyj- Hugs and prayers coming your way for a full and speedy recovery.

  43. CM(YAKIMA) says:

Grammyj, you will be in my prayers everyday! I pray that they caught it early. God take care of you!

  47. ksf says:

VaBeachArchie – love the name! I saw that earlier :)

GrammyJ-I’ll be praying for you. I wish you the best.

  48. Grammyj says:

Thanks for all your prayers. I had very good news yesterday that after my first chemo-therapy treatment that my tumor is already shrinking. I am so thankful that I live close to the Unersity of Iowa Hospitals with a brand new cutting edge cancer center.

My major point is that you never know what crisis may happen to you in the future. It is at this time when David’s soothing voice and uplifting songs can be such a healing source. I think even he learned this at a young age. He wants to help the helpless through his music IMHO.

  49. supergrandjudie#da2014 says:

Linda I got your message. Thanks for caring.it is so great to have this extended family here on FOD. David’s fans are the best.

  50. supergrandjudie#da2014 says:

Grammyj you are so right. His music hss helped me get through my two major crisises.

  51. kimk says:

Grammyj ahh that is fantastic.. hope the treatments are ok for you. know they can be a bit tough.

I guess you could say that I’m a practicing and devout Instigator. My middle name, Shaney (pronounced “Sha-neigh” btw, sarahhazel), when properly translated means “Trouble.” There. I said it. No tomatoes, please.

  62. Candy says:

angelbymyside -The last I was there…the picture David signed for the gang at the White House Sub Shop was still hanging on the wall next to Ellens picture as David asked. :)
Lost the photo I had of it when my hardrive crashed or I would post it.

  65. davidfan says:

I just want to say how impressed I was at how kind and tolerant people were with the discussion yesterday. We are a widely diverse group who have come together because of one amazing young man. I am so touched by how people have respected and supported him regardless of if they understand or believe as he does. We connect with his heart somehow, so I think there is something special about us too. Thanks

  66. sarahhazel says:

    Grammyj–that’s great news! :)

  67. sarahhazel says:

davidfan– “We connect with his heart somehow, so I think there is something special about us too”—–>I agree 1000%!!! :D

  68. sarahhazel says:

ksf–BTW, my alter ego name is “Demanding Diamond” per that link….LOL….

  69. Candy says:

davidfan-I agree!! Obviously there is something special about David that draw us altogether in the first place, or we wouldnt be sitting here for two years while he is gone. You are also right that there is something special about this group of fans, a diverse group of people from all walks of life, from all corners of the world, that have have a common bond in and through David. I would say that is pretty remarkable.

  70. davidfan says:

sarahhazel, LOL *MOTION SICKNESS ALERT* They should never give him a swivel chair when interviewing him.

  71. ksf says:

    meganloves2lol – Awww! That’s really cool!

sarahhazel – I figured you might so I thought I would just put your mind at ease. LOL.

davidfan – Thanks for your comment. That was really nice. You are the prime example of your own words. :)

  72. davidfan says:

Candy, You are so right Remarkable indeed!

  73. kimk says:

lol there goes that Tiramisu reference again.. I need deets!!

oh and yeah Atlantic City.. argh no comment!!!

  74. ksf says:

sarahhazel – Demanding Diamond, huh? Well…you are pretty demanding. They sure got that one right, didn’t they? ;)

  75. Candy says:

kimk-LOL-my lips are sealed!!! So sorry your plans to join us in AC got derailed by Demi canceling.

  76. lct#DA2014 says:

Just want to say as I lurk during the week and save comments for the weekend: That ANY discussion whether it be religion, looks, personality… is not an attack on anybody or anything. Just shows that David still has interested fans who are still here and are supporting him while he’s gone. He’s fortunate to have us as we are fortunate to have him – despite differences in religion, views….. good nite!

  77. sarahhazel says:

ksf–late reply: I am not Demanding but I sure like Diamonds! :D

  78. ksf says:

Hi lct! :) Well said. And I agree…David is definitely lucky to have the fans he has and I’m glad he’s had the opportunity to share his talent with us and the world.

  79. sarahhazel says:

davidfan–but he feels more relaxed in a swivel chair….haha….plus it brings out the BOSS MAN in him! :)

  80. sarahhazel says:

    lct–AMEN to that!

  81. Janel aka Nellie says:

Update on Harold from a friend on his FB wall: Two trees fell into and destroyed the two upstairs bedrooms. They are staying at a neighbor’s, but are going to a hotel tomorrow and will be there a week. The building was condemned to go into, but they snuck in and got some clothes and their computers. A crew was working on getting the trees removed and the house tarped up but haven’t finished. Not a lot of rain got into the house so water damage minimal. Most of their belongings will be salvagable The damage to the home is most likely fixable.

  82. ksf says:

sarahhazel – :) Sure. Way to switch it around, D.D. Lol. j/k. For the record, I like diamonds too. Something we have in common, haha!

  83. sarahhazel says:

Janel–that’s such a difficult situation for Harold and his family….getting displaced from their home….like many others affected by Sandy….hopefully they can rebuild their lives soon.

  84. sarahhazel says:

I was at SD reading comments and came across a comment by someone who had a stroke and had lost the ability to speak. And how through Davids music they were able to learn to speak clearly again. If I have one wish…it is that someday David can know and understand the affect his music has had on people…right here in his own country!

I too wish he could read their words…like I said I hope that someday he knows and understands.

  105. sarahhazel says:

Candy–I hope that person or the family can write David (thru Kari) about that….or maybe they already did. (?)

“That’s right, Klein, 23, didn’t have his first kiss until he and Shalin solidified their vows on July 21. Much like everything Klein does in his life, he was very deliberate about waiting for the right person, the right moment and the right time.”

  109. Elysian says:

Joanie- Thank you sooooo much for posting the recap and photos of the Nor-Cal get together! Sorry it was super long…. again. I have resigned myself to the fact that I am physically incapable of writing anything that is short and sweet!

  110. Elysian says:

VaBeachArchie, Bychance and angelbymyside- Thank you for the kind words about my recap! I am glad that you enjoyed it!! Yes Bychance, I am the one holding the t-shirt. The ONLY thing that I do not absolutely love about our get togethers is that I end up getting my picture taken…. a lot. I usually like to keep a low profile whenever photos are being taken, as in below the level of the camera lens, but I can’t seem to get away with my patented strategy at these meet ups. It is particularly weird and jarring to see my face on the front page of FOD. YIKES! I feel that one of those WARNINGS that are usually posted regarding missionary blogs should accompany my photos. Most importantly, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, click on any of my photos to make them full size!!! I am like Marla Hooch from the movie, A League of Their Own, I definitely look better miniaturized or seen standing in the outfield! LOL!

  111. Elysian says:

Grammyj- I am so glad to hear that your chemo treatment is already proving successful and that you are receiving so much comfort by listening to David’s beautiful voice! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope that you will soon be in total remission!

  112. Elysian says:

Candy- Thank you for sharing that amazing story about the stroke patient who regained his or her voice through listening to David’s music. Hopefully, David will learn of this particular story, but in terms of your comment that you hoped “… someday David can know and understand the affect his music has had on people…right here in his own country!”, I believe that David is well aware of the impact his voice has had on so many because he has often commented that he is amazed when he reads all of the letters from people sharing such stories with him. In fact, I think that he has commented that that is one one the reasons that he loves to sing so much, so that he can touch people through his music!

  113. MaggieFOD says:

Sarahhazel at 1:32 – “Where is this tiechuleta pic?” It was when David visited Angie’s Restaurant in Logan, Utah, when he was traveling around just before leaving on his mission and visiting temples (and eating ~lol. Here’s the entry with another picture from that day as posted on FOD: http://fansofdavid.com/archives/68126

  114. ksf says:

Elysian – Loved the recap of your get together! It looks and sounds like you guys were in Archu-Heaven. :)

sarahhazel – Thanks for posting that story at 7:26. Very inspiring and certainly reminds me of David. It’s great to see that there are young people in the public eye that are role model material.

  115. Elysian says:

Before David left on his mission, I was convinced that he was already on a mission through his music, since so many have been inspired or helped through illnesses or hardships through his voice. But I later realized that there is a huge difference between his reading a letter or hearing about these stories after the fact, and his seeing the impact he is having on someone that he is helping, in real time, as it is happening, as is the case while he is on his mission. For him to be able to see the appreciation in the eyes of someone who he has helped plow a field, or who he has helped in some other way by doing his community service, is, I imagine, so fulfilling for him. That special feeling must be that much greater when he has shared something about his faith that has helped someone spiritually. For him to connect emotionally with someone who is standing right in front of him, when they are having a shared moment and can feel each others hearts, is probably well beyond what he can glean from letters, amazing and moving as they may be. As much as his mission is about serving God and others, I also believe that it is about David being able to have these kinds of experiences for himself. The kind of experiences that will make him an even more compassionate and caring person than he already is. Although I am not LDS, this is why I am at peace with where he is and what he is doing. He has given us all so much that two years of him doing something that means so much to him, and which will bring him a kind of joy that cannot be derived in any other way, seems so little to grant him in return. When he comes back and recommences his career, as I am sure he will, his music will again reach out to those all over the world, bringing solace to all who hear him, but for right now, I think he is where he has to be, in order to become the man he is destined to be.

  116. Elysian says:

    Thanks ksf!

  117. sarahhazel says:

MaggieFOD–thanks for the “tiechuleta” info!….must have missed it when I was on my trip to Asia. :)

I got sidetracked tonight, so just came back to say
    G’night.
Thank You Candy for sharing info about the comment
from someone who was healed through Davids music.
Thank You Elysian for your comment. I was just about
to say the same thing, but you said it so well. David did say
he was so touched by the letters he’s received & so happy
that he’s been able to help people, but going on a mission is
a different way to help people. I hope David does know deep
in his heart, how much the fans truely love him, what he means
to us. David & his fans, Heart to Hearts  G’night!

sarahhazel – Probably so and good for him. As much fun as it is for us to speculate about him having a love life, it takes much more courage and self discipline to abstain than to “go with the flow.” It’s worth it in the end for sure.

  128. Elysian says:

sarahhazel- Thank you and you’re welcome!

Beth-Thank you! For once, I beat you to the punch! LOL! You’re usually the one who writes what I am thinking!! I am sure that David knows how much we love him, it is a fan/artist relationship like no other! Sweet dreams!!!!!
