Four years ago today, a very special event at SETON HS in Ohio took place!
David Archuleta At Seton HS 10/24/08 ~cred Q102~
Remember that Pennies for Archuleta Contest? That event An All-Girls Catholic High School Won???
The 550 students filled 64 one-gallon plastic jugs to win Q102′s “Pennies for Archuleta” contest. They accounted for nearly half of the $6,400 raised from area schools for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure fund.
David (was)touring radio stations to promote his “Crush” single and new self-titled Jive Records album due out Nov. 11. When his managers discussed a stop here, Q102 programmers asked if Archuleta would visit the school which donated the most money for breast cancer research, says Patti Marshall, Q102 operations manager.
The day began with a couple interviews (one below to follow this story). First, the interview at Q102 in Cincinnati!
Then came Seton High School!! Here are a few pics from Q102 to jog your memory!

Earliiiiier that Same Day, a radio interview with 106.5 in Baltimore!!
A number of topics were covered including recording in different cities. We learned that he recorded “To Be With you” in Maryland, and he also mentioned recording in Minneapolis (ahhh my happy heart). We learned later it was “Waiting For Yesterday” that David recorded in my home state. ♥♥♥ David also talked about his favorite Halloween costume as a kid, what’s in his pocket, favorite movies, and the fans from Seattle who had been in an accident on their way to his M&G the week before!

The walk down memory lane had me all teary eyed ….David looks so young and so happy!! It was the beginning of four plus years of INCREDIBLE performances, AMAZING opportunities and WONDERFUL memories! What a blessing to us now that we can look back and remember it all!
I thing a MKOC DVD would be the ticket…wonder if that’s why the did some special things at certain shows…like the snow, having Lupe and Sunny, having the duet on Melodies of Christnmas, etc It sure was a concert to remember….in more ways then one… THE ANNOUNCEMENT!

speaking of Christmas – I popped into Target yesterday to look for a dvd my husband wanted and saw a lot of various artists Christmas cds on the rack already – I sure wish that we could get David’s physical Chrismas from the Heart cd into the stores in any quantity. I have no doubt that they would be snapped up. Christmas cd’s from prior years always appear on the shelves and we want that to turn out to be the case for David too. Seriously, a few on the counter at Barnes & Noble over the holidays or in any store would be a big boost & keep his name out there. Even if his team guaranteed their sales to the stores, it would be worth it to get them in front of people as an advertising method and I am sure they would sell. Someone ask Kari!

On Holloween night we have TRUNK_A_Treat. Members of the church park thier cars in the church parking lots and pass out candy from thier truncks. We have free hot dogs and chips and water for the kids and parents. Its very successful because it keeps kids of the streets.
LOVED the video of The Christmas Song! I was there at VIP, and it was magical. I’ve been watching videos from the MKOC tour lately, and I’m feeling nostalgic. Even though I wish to go back to that time, I’m thankful for being able to attend the shows, the friends I made, and the memories. Watching that particular video made me think of David and how Christmas will be different for him for the next 2 years. I’m sure he’ll miss the feeling of spending time with his family during the Holidays. I just hope that Christmas will be special for him during his mission. I love the video, and I think that he should record his own version in the future!

I share similar thoughts~ I’m thinking that Christmas will be a wonderful time to send out EXTRA special prayers for David and the missionaries… for peace and strength, for them to feel the love that surrounds them wherever they are, the love that awaits them at the end of their “adventure,” and the support and appreciation offered to them for their willingness to follow their hearts and serve.

To me, halloween is an American tradition that is creeping in over here – mostly pushed by retailers trying to make another buck. Its fine for Americans for whom it is a part of your traditions and culture but i’d rather just let the day pass like every other day here in Aussieland. (actually we have two birthdays around that time too, lol) Now…Thanksgiving…that is one American tradition I think about incorporating every year…but haven’t got around to yet. lol Maybe this year?

I’m a bit of a weather geek in my spare time, and this is a scary storm… Just keep an eye on it, particularly if you live on the east coast. And even if you don’t – by Monday and Tuesday morning temps may be in the 30′s as far south as a NC-SC!

Actually here’s a question….we don’t have the right pumpkin used in pumpkin pie and you can’t get pumpkin in a can here…but this year I have seen a couple of places selling those big orange halloween pumpkins (for $7 a pound no less!!!

Hi Shanny…I wouldn’t advise it…..there are smaller varieties that are meant for baking…..and at $7 a pound!!…not worth it in my opinion. I always used Libby’s canned pumkin…..easy and delicious! Pumpkin pie is my absolute favorite pie…..i could eat it for breakfast, oh, wait, I do…day after Thanksgiving. Wish I could send you some!

We attend church services during the day then we have a big dinner feast (with family and/or friends) and have TG staples like oven-roasted turkey, dinner rolls, stuffing, sweet potato or pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry relish, glazed carrots, green bean casserole and some dessert.
I wish there is behind the scene at DVD of Forevermore expanded edition.
kimk–I’m guessing the song for the MV is the same as the remix audio.
sarah- wow! it’s like a party too, I started to get hungry lol, you mentioned all tasty foods!
Jhen–yes, it’s like a dinner party during Christmas…but no gift-giving.
–we’ll see if there’s a BTS of either or both MVs.
sarah- there are times that they had catering of chinese foods at the set of NA, David and Kari love chinese foods too.

Halloween celebration is mainly trick-or treating…..giving candies to kids or young-at-hearts in costumes knocking at your door….or the city have events for kids and parents to come to do that with other fun stuff and things to do and see….and also, some peeps do parties and make-believe haunted houses where people can go and get spooked.
Shanny- how do you celebrate halloween in Australia? what foods you eat?
Sarah- David is a foodie, not surprise lol He is not choosy in foods. Filipino, Thai, Chinese etc foods he like it.
sarah- no foods party on Holloween?
Jhen–We don’t really celebrate All Souls Day here but Hispanic people have Dias Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) which is a joyous celebration for the departed ones.
Jhen–some people just bake some sweet goodies for small children parties but some have an all-out party (mostly adults) were there are drinks, finger foods and all kinds of stuff….with costumes, spooky decorations and stuff.

Sarahhazel – like your ‘young at heart’ terminology…i can see it now…my hubby knocking on doors pretending it was for the kids…but really we all know it would really be.for him! lolol
Jhen, we don’t really do Halloween in Australia but that doesn’t stop the odd person or two from trying. The stores sell a bit of halloween stuff but only a few people will do anything for it. We don’t do Thanksgiving at all in Australia but that is something I would like to incorporate with my family one day and just use it as a day to spend with family and give thanks for all the blessings we have.
sarah- Philippines is the same as hispanic , day of the dead , All souls day.
sarah- Philippines have also all out party for adults usually at the bar, but mostly only the party goer go there.
The Rainbow remix video will be such a fun thing to come to when I get back home. I will be gone from the Nov. 1 to the 11th, so I’ll miss all the fun here, will need a lot of catching up when I return. Going on a much needed vacation cruise.
Shanny- we also don’t have thanksgiving in the Philippines, but personally I think we needed it, just for giving thanks for all the blessings.
