More TOSOD Prelude to Release 2010 Memories~ A Day In The Life
On October 4th, 2010, David was a busy busy guy!! He had made his way to NYC for the release of “The Other Side Of Down” the following day. There were interviews, photo ops, signings, and David graciously allowed Pop Eater Mag. to follow him around throughout day and convey the entire experience to us with photos, a video, and a detailed article.
Emily Tan, the author, had quite the day with David, and he left his signature watermark on her heart. Impressed with him..completely; she shared her admiration beautifully!
As he strolled into Jive studios around noon, he instantly changed the vibe of the room. Dressed casually in dark denim, a gray T-shirt, a royal blue sweater and a pair of broken-in shoes, Archuleta’s smile beamed. He greeted everyone with a handshake and a glimpse of his pearly whites, making it clear that he’s the same sweet boy that fans fell in love with in 2008.

Another interview that day was with @JambaJim at MTV. The interview was poignant and heartfelt (sprinkled with humor). Definitely worth re-watching. So many of the things David shared about writing TOSOD, his music, and feelings 2 years ago seem even more relevant today. That boy is sure a wise one while he’s able to laugh at himself as well. I’ll share one more bit of “EPICNESS” from October 4th, 2010. David’s interview with AP that day is another one of my all time favorites. Unhurried, unrushed, full of detail, memories, and memorable moments. Cristobalite4126 condensed this ~30min. interview into two videos. In video 1, David talks about his quick thrust into fame and how it’s effected his life and what he’s hoping to do with his music…his desire to create music with substance. In part 2, David shares his feelings about fame vs having a “more normal” late teen tears, and about doing what you love despite the difficulties. ”We have the most control of our attitude and that’s what we can change the most..people pay attention to how you handle things…” Listen closely again to what he says about family…*tears* what a guy!! ksf- I’m fine. Finally getting ready to go back to New Jersey. It’s still 80 some degrees here in Maryland. Guess I’m going to miss Fall and go right into winter soon. Time is going quickly though. I went to your blog the other day. I see you still have “I’m Not A Writer” up. Is chapter 24 the end or will you continue some day? So thankful for the story you’ve written so far. It was fun reading your love story. You have done a terrific job.
sgj – You’re right…time is flying. We’ve had a couple of cooler fall-like days here in Atlanta but today it’s in the low 80′s so I’m still anticipating the real Fall weather. I haven’t updated the blog in a long time but I will update it and finish it. Chapter 24 is not the end. I’ll keep you posted

Thanks to Hanne for the nice edit. I really enjoyed watching “A day in the life of David Archuleta” I hope to see more of like that when he return #2014. And the interview specially the part that he said he would like to be there for his brother and sisters while they’re growing up. I really admire him for his family values no matter what this music industry brought him. Very mature at a very young age. I’m happy for him and his family cos he knows what matters most is the family.
Thanks to you all for the daily updates, collages and videos of the past that keep us reminiscing while he is away. It’s very much appreciated.

Hey guys, I know of a pic that would be a good one for FOD lead pic maybe, unfortunately I don’t know how to embed it so I’ll try to describe it, it’s also one of my most favorite pics of David. It is from J-14 magazine couple years ago, it was an 8 by 10 poster and it was taken somewhere where there were signatures behind him on a wall, he was sitting down and wearing a reddish brown v neck t-shirt with a black, brown and white plaid shirt over it. Do any of you know which one I’m talking about? Sorry that’s the best I can do! I love this pic because he is smiling so big and his eyes twinkle. Off to work, talk to you guys later! SGJ – hmmm…not sure. I ‘ve got a picture in my mind of him singing A Thousand miles when he’s.younger and it appears to me he is sitting at a normal upright piano. But I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of him also singing at a grand when he was younger. We know he definitely has a grand in his lounge at home now because he’s done vlogs whilst sitting at it.

The whole downstairs is a recording studio that was built for him. That came from Jeff, he lived there, so figured he knows

It bothers me to think of the depression, loneliness & fears that D faces, all the time putting on a brave front. He’s said/done things that make me think he does fear becoming a regular joe…dreaming about having an audience of 30 ppl, d the “Falling Stars” lyrics “When you forget me, when you don’t remember my name. Not even a memory somewhere in the back of your brain…When it’s all said & done I’ll be just a speck in the galaxy..” I know that was s’posed to be about a girl, but still..I feel like he was saying more than that, I guess.
Like Candy said, also, it seems like impossible expectations are placed on him sometimes, coming from all directions~himself, fans, the media, maybe even his worldview, I dunno. Life is hard enough without that kind of pressure. I wish he could hang out with me for awhile. lol. He’d be free to wear shorts in a variety of colors (:)); to outwardly express when he’s mad or sad; to say/do the wrong thing sometimes; watch ME say/do the wrong things ALOT; and realize that the peeps who count do NOT think any less of him. He would NOT be free, however, to wear colored contacts. I have to draw the line somewhere. lol.
And…ngl, it IS a bonus that D’s gorgeous. One would have to be blind not to notice that. lol. But I’m strictly here ‘cuz I care about HIM. If he was a gorgeous jerk, or if the David that I saw WAS just an image~I’d have been gone 4 yrs ago. I don’t have much time for peeps who aren’t real. Why waste my time getting to know a facade, ya know? And the “macho, bad-boy” image that Hollywood wants? I understand why other peeps might like that. But again, I always think: (1) I wonder what that celebrity’s REALLY like; (2) If he IS that person, then God bless those who are willing to put up with him….Nope. I care about D ‘cuz I feel like I can relate to him. And because…I just do. That’s all.

josie–Well-said!….I love D because of his talent/voice but more because of his character….then the looks are a nice bonus of course. I have faith he will be better and better at handling his celebrity as he gets older. He knows his priorities in life and his faith is strong and those will carry him well in whatever direction he goes career-wise and private life-wise.

linda~ i think that weird DM thing that went around must be an automated program cuz it’s happened to me and lots of people. also happens on FB alot. if someone were to actually “hack” into your account they would be posting actual tweets coming from them but making it look like coming from u. so i think your account should be ok. just delete any DMs or posts that look suspicious and change your password. hope that helps.
Martha – I just noticed on that FB page that on the event poster someone had asked what they meant by “pop music” and the Centro JAS person answered “what pop music means is that Elder Archuleta will perform songs from his own repertoire.” Now, granted, that’s run through Google & Bing Translate lol but it seems that David will be doing some of his songs? Or maybe some songs like on BEGIN that are inspirational?

Just saw that The people running the Official The Beav’s website were fined $1 million dollars for tracking kids 12 & under, collecting information on over 100,000 kids. Also collected illegal data for sites for Rhianna, demi Lavator & Selena Gomez. Very sad, do we have any privacy left, are we safe anywhere anymore?

ksf- If you are still here, I just wanted to tell you that I will be in Catalina this Christmas. My in-laws are taking my husband’s entire family on a 4 day cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. The first thing I thought of when I got the news was JAVID! LOL!

This is not David related, so please forgive me (a year ago I would have never thought to post this here, but things have changed). Anyway…
MY BROTHER OPENED HIS MISSION CALL JUST NOW!!! It came in the mail today. He has been called to labor in the GEORGIA ATLANTA mission! He reports to the MTC on November 28th! That’s the Wednesday after Thanksgiving. Oh my gosh, I have no words.
