David Archuleta may not be in direct contact with his fans due to his mission, but he hasn’t been one to go completely quiet. In his latest message through his manager, he tells his fans that he cannot wait for their reaction to his new album, BEGIN. The album comes out on August 7th, after a long wait from his fans. David has remained in contact via pre-filmed videos and scheduled updates that he has sent to his manager who is taking care of his social media for him. Here is the message that he shared with his manager for his fan base.
I am so excited for BEGIN. that is coming out next week! I can´t wait for people to hear the songs in their entirety!
It sounds like he has been waiting for a long time as well! I think we can all agree that we cannot wait to see what is in store for his new album. But it will also be a bittersweet moment since he cannot do a tour for it. However, his fans will stay strong and support him with all the love that is needed for him at this point. I cannot wait to hear it and also to see his fans rejoice over his new music. He has worked so hard to give something to his fans while he is away for the two years and he did it! I am so proud of David, and in awe over his dedication to his fans. I honestly cannot think of any other singer who has been so dedicated to their fans as he is, which is a huge reason for us to support him that much more.
Are you happy to hear that he is excited about BEGIN? I am, he really loves giving to his fans and to know that he is excited for them. It will be a big moment for him and his fans alike. I certainly hope that the radio stations will support his album, despite of the fact that he is away until 2014. That should not take away from the fact that he has a new album and good music to air. Maybe we should start a campaign on requesting his music on the radio, wouldn’t that be a great way to show support?

Idol Chatter On BEGIN. :
David Archuleta’s New Album Comes Out Next Week!
One of Idol’s all-time good guys is off on a two-year mission trip.
But David Archuleta recorded an album of cover songs before departing, and that album — titled BEGIN. — comes out next week, Tuesday to be precise.
You can pre-order it now, and the first single “Broken” is already available.
I’ve embedded the audio for that song below, and you can listen to snippets of all the others on David’s website.
You can also watch four videos during which David talks about the inspiration behind the album, his favorite songs and his decision to go on that mission trip with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“What we wanted to do was just kind of more easy-going, easy-listening kind of songs,” David says in one of the videos. “A more relaxed, more peaceful kind of feel … We wanted it to be more in sync with where I was going in the next chapter in my life.”
As for his favorite songs, David says he especially enjoyed covering Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” and Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel.”
Gotta say, from the snippet I’ve heard, David’s version of the latter song sounds special.

So it looks like the contest has been extended until Monday. First I’d like to thank all of the fans who have been contributing to the “memories and fun” on David’s Ology page. I have (myself) enjoyed visiting, commenting, loving, and posting some of my own special memories. Whatever the outcome on Monday, I’ll have enjoyed seeing so many great “David” treasures shared by all of you. As for the TT, my only 2cents is that I’d love to see David and BEGIN. celebrated on Tuesday by a WWTT. That is definitely important World Wide Trending Topic material and at a perfect moment in my book.

ABMS-I checked my order with Deseret Books, and mine also says still awaiting shipping. So, it looks like they’re waiting until the Aug. 7th to ship BEGIN. to us. Sigh….
I used to work in a bookstore, and we were very careful not to sell a book or CD before the sell date. We would get them in the store early, but we would leave them in the box until the sell date. The sell date was always stamped on the box. If we were caught doing it, they could refuse to send us other items to sell. You could miss out on some items that were top sellers. Don’t know if this is still the case. That was 12 years ago.

This morning I was notified that Sears had shipped my order (2 cds), but I am still waiting to hear from Deseret (1 cd).
note to Target shoppers~ Begin may not be on the shelves on aug 7. when i was looking for TOSOD on its release date, it wasn’t there and manager told me they get shipments in once or twice a week so a CD may not necessarily be on the shelf on the exact release date so when i go into Target on august 7 hope to see it but won’t be surprised if it’s not there yet.

Regarding Ology, I agree that everyone should do what they think is right to support David. I simply raised the question of what the prize is for David and his fans for winning the contest. A twitter trend – particularly one that is not marked as “promoted” – is valuable to Ology. David and Jessica are giving Ology some valuable free publicity by trending Ology multiple times per day. If there is a prize at the end of the day that helps promote David or if the Archies promoting of Ology is payback for something that Ology and it’s founders did for David or will do for David, I’m fully in support of it. However, If none of this is the case, my personal opinion is that fans’ time could be more productively spent on the eve of release of BEGIN. Pinterest.com, for example, has many similar features as Ology and I noticed some increased activity by fans on Pinterest before the Ology contest started. Now the focus seems to be on Ology rather than Pinterest. However, In terms of reach and popularity, Pinterest blows Ology out of the water. So strategically speaking, if fans wanted to promote David and BEGIN, it would arguably be more effective to develop a large presence on Pinterest. Again, I could be wrong and the prize for winning the contest may be massive. If not, I simply ask: why are we promoting Ology?

Mckenzie ~ To be honest, I an not sure what is behind Ology. Not even sure there is a prize for winning! I think many fans have gotten behind it because Kari has tweeted about it. It is a fun way to promote David. As for Pinterest, I just signed up for it a few weeks ago, and I LOVE IT! I have pinned all of David’s videos to my music board as well as promo for BEGIN. In the long run, however way we can promote David is a WIN-WIN!
p.s. I have seen some people on Pinterest with only David related boards which is cool! You don’t need to create other boards if you don’t want. It’s EASY!

I really love when we trend , it brings us all together for an hour or so, with our international fans. But mostly because what ever the topic is, i know that i am doing this for Davids career. So that when he comes home people will still remember who he is.

I got my confirmation also Friday that my CD had been shipped from Walmart. And the money has been taken out of my debit card. I order lots of stuff on the internet and they give you dates which are not necessarily true. You get stuff earlier alot of times. Hoping!

ksf, actually, it is beginning to sound a bit mean, he looks bloated, etc….and honestlly, its getting on my nerves. I know not everyone will feel the same way about things & everything is sweetness & light, but hearing people go on & on about it, I think, is mean. Not intentional, I no, but….. Its not a great pic, many are better, it looks this, it looks that. I dont mean to slam anyones opinion, but we have so much to squee about, why nitpic about the cd pic. Just wanted to say I like the cover pic. It shouldn’t be a big mystery why this pic was chosen when we think what David has said about the music on this CD and what these songs represent to him. A more serious and humble picture is in order and fits with what he is doing right now.

I called my target today and they said they don’t have it listed on their new release list. The rep. said we don’t always want to order all the CDs listed so we don’t. Well…(wrong answer, lol) I said: It shouldn’t be up to you or your coworkers, but the stores. You are suppose to accomodate your customers, and this customer would have purchased 7 CD’s. Not a problem, I’ll take my business elsewhere. Oh my!!! Hahahaha He probably thought I was a nut! Then I called 2 Best Buys and neither of them know if they will have them in the! store on the 7th. Not a good day!!!! AMAZON…Hurry!
I saw an awesome commercial during the Olympics today – there is “no destination without a beginning”. It reminded me of BEGIN.
I’m so unsure about this Ology thing now guys. So many fans are focusing just on trending stuff about ology now when we could be focusing on promoting the new album and Ology is the one getting the free promo.
I was just looking at Lauren’s page to see how they were approaching this whole trending thing and saw fans saying that she’s lost over 1,000 followers in the past few days because she’s been RTing and tweeting so much about the Ology thing to get points. I don’t follow Lauren so I have no idea if this is true but I don’t see why her fans would make that up. Obviously I know that David (or Kari, in his place) have not been tweeting like that but I was just showing how Ology has entire fanbases focusing on the wrong thing and annoying people rather than drawing them in. I can’t imagine seeing 20-some Jessica trends made people big fans either. Remember what its like to see constant Bieber trends?
I just feel like we’d be better off if we laid off the Ology trending and focused on one or two big, meaningful trends next week when the album comes out. I have no problem with the posting and commenting AT ology. But bringing it over to twitter like ology wants us to do and the volume they are looking for I think is bad for David right now.
That’s just my opinion though and obviously I don’t have any big influence lol. Just something for us to be thinking about.

If that’s true and I was her manager, I would seriously tell her to stop. I realize that twitter followers don’t dictate album sales but the more people that follow you, the greater the ~potential~ of getting info out about your career. I think twitter followers are way more important than some fan contest.

I know there are some who received the cd early (LUCKY) but who are also posting segments straight from the notes on twitter etc.

Here, we’d like to keep in the same mind frame of “respect” and guidelines when dealing with the BEGIN. album info before it’s formally released on the 7th as we do with missionary pics etc. We will allow a link with a *BEGIN. spoiler alert* attached, if you must, but please don’t share more than that. It’s just a way to hopefully give all fans that “special moment” of experiencing the album for the first time, in their own space and on their own terms.

GoodMorning all ~no secret I spend most of my time over at Twitter these days. However, I always stop by & check out FOD as often as I can. After reading some of the comments from last night’s thread, I can’t NOT share my thoughts before I start my day. This is a very exciting time for David and his fans. David worked tirelessly the few weeks he had at home just so he wouldn’t leave us “empty handed” as he stated in interviews as well as the liner notes within the CD. I am so dang impressed with this young man’s desire to be all that we want him to be..no words can express my feelings. Who in the world would put such emphasis on a picture at this juncture of his journey. I just have to ask myself that question… *scratches head* ~I would just love, for once, to enjoy another a stellar moment in David’s career without reading stuff that is trivial & meaningless. Some spoke of freedom of speech & speaking one’s mind ~guess I just did.
It’s my sincere hope that his dedicated fanbase can all gather together in the next few days & honor him for the heart & soul he put into this incredible CD at a time in his life when he had so much on his plate. Good morning. Sorry for using the word bloated in my comments yesterday. Although it was not my intention, it was harsh and I could have expressed my thoughts differently. I still think his face looks puffy in the pic though so perhaps that is a better adjective to use.
And yet…why do I think that the reaction would have been exactly the same regardless…?
Janel – thanks for posting the link to the liner notes. While I will never agree with the why of his decision and will continue to pray for him, I certainly admire his sincerity and his gratitude. He wants so desperately for people to understand his decision and it shows just how he doesn’t take his fans for granted. Ironically, we desperately want him
to understand that he is loved not only as an artist but for the person he is. I think it’s a wonderful relationship and I’m excited to see how it continues in 2014 and beyond.

NorthCarolinaGirl – I don’t believe I did. You expressed your thoughts beautifully. I was expressing that, along with you, we all are proud of him and appreciate his heart in giving this gift to us. Disagreeing about the cover pic does not change that fact.
