I was lucky enough to go to Stadium of Fire last year in celebration of US Independence Day and it was an amazing experience. Although not American, I could not help but feel moved with the reverence shown by the organizers and performers, especially David Archuleta. The men and women of armed forces, past and present were honoured throughout the night.

Music devotionals are very common. I’ve been to ones with and without missionaries. Usually someone speaks too in them. Just makes my heart so happy. I’m glad we know how and what he’s doing. Wonder what he’ll sing…..
I couldnt choose between Beautiful and Everybody Hurts.
My first thought when I saw the flyer for the young single adult devotional was, I hope they are prepared for a packed house. Then I saw the mention of a live stream and I thought yes please. And then I got super excited. Is it bad for me to hope there is a super ninja Archie down in Chile? We need a Chilean version of jackryan. Hehe.

Martha, depends on when and where. BYU has devotionals all the time that are taped. I guess it depends if there’s a video camera there to tape it. LOL….at the devotional I went to with David Osmond (it was for young adults, but he invited anyone to come) people’s cell phones were recording.

On David Archuleta wiki page, it says he is serving a mission in Chile, not South America. Do you think it’s OK to specify the country although he didn’t say officially?
Martha they usually are not recorded. It’ll be a similar setting as when he sang BSMS and the girl videoed it on her phone. It would be very disruptive if somebody had their camera out and was obviously recording but if they did it discreetly it probs wouldn’t be a huge deal. I know there are probably other Mormons who would disagree with me and say it shouldn’t be recorded at all. But I honestly don’t see the problem with sharing this special event with more people than just those who will be in the room that night. Especially when you consider it will only be major hardcore David fans who will be super grateful to feel somewhat connected to him and to hear anything new sung by him. As long as people are respectful of my religion and don’t make rude or distespectful comments about what they observe from being a fly on the wall then I don’t see where the problem would be. I think an audio recording would be the best bet as you can easily record on your cellphone without anybody knowing. I did that on fathers day when my kids sang in sacrament meeting but my husband wasnt there because he is still out of state. Then I emailed it to him and he listened to it and replied within minutes. I would’ve loved to have videoed it but didn’t feel comfortable doing that. Plus I had to keep my hands free to keep the twins under control.
joujou – I thought that might be the case, unless only the ones putting on the event videotaped. It can be disruptive especially if those attending are not regular attendees and don’t know what’s proper. Audio would be less disruptive. I’m just happy he will be getting to sing (probably on more than one occasion) and an audio or video tape would be extra.
Janel good point about the BYU devotionals being recorded and even televised. Even more reason why I don’t think it’d be an issue as long as people recording are discreet and not disruptive to the setting. That is interesting about David osmonds devotional with people with their cellphones out. Where was that? Was it in a chapel? Is D’s devotional going to be in a chapel or another building? That might make a difference as far as people’s feeling about reverence and respect for recording.
Martha I think it would be great of people who don’t normally go to these types of things went. In case any Chilean fans are lurking here and plan to attend: to feel more comfortable and to blend in you will want to wear church clothes (a dress for girls and a white shirt and tie for boys).

joujou, it was here in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I didn’t tape it because at the time I was new to my cell phone and didn’t know how. People weren’t taking pictures, and most of them had their cell phones down on their laps, so I think most were just recording audio. BYU devotionals are recorded btw, by KBYU.
I wonder with the whole flier and everything if they do plan to record it. Time will tell. Don’t you live in Utah??? Not sure if you saw my post earlier.

Remember me mentioning about the camel taking a long drink before it goes out into the dessert? All this stuff David left us and these little things that keep popping up from his mission are his cool drinks of water for us to survive on. JAS stands for Youth Single Adults.
cq–he’ll probably do just that (date)….but you’ll never know….if it’s destiny, it’s destiny.
Thinking and acting upon what your thinking is two different things CQ. But as far as David goes, having never had a relationship, just can’t see him jumping into one so quickly. You don’t know if he’ll meet someone he’ll have an attraction to, but wouldn’t act on it until after his mission is over. Elizabeth Smart didn’t date her husband until after their missions were over. I know a lot of people this happened to. We can’t know what will happen with David because time and God has a way of making things happen. If the girl David is meant to spend eternity with is in Chile, then it will happen, if not, then it won’t. He will break hearts no matter who he marries or when he gets married. I just hope he won’t lose fans over it.
The YSA (young single adult or JAS in Chile) program is usually for singles ages 18-30. They have SA (single adult) activities for those 30+. In a church that is so family oriented it can be a lonely place for people who are single so the church has instituted programs/activities for those who are single so they can have a “family” (of sorts) to do things with (like family home evening on Monday nights). Especially when kids go off to college and arent around their own families Many times people will find their future spouses through these programs/activities. I did.
I enjoyed every post especially Jasmine – Exceptional tribute, love it. David’s fan are all amazing, what can I say. Lot’s of bits and pieces to keep us busy to pass the time while we are waiting for David to come back in 2014. Memories that keep us together because of David. Meeting beautiful people exchanging messages are all because of DAVID. Isn’t it overwhelming? Because of one person’s music we meet friends around the world. David’s passion to music and interpretation of every songs he sang to connect to his audience is indescribable and because of his music we all connect to each other. He became part of our daily life. Our day will not be complete without listening to his songs, tweeting, writing comments on different fan sites, browsing the internet, etc etc are all because of David. I’m AMAZE. David’s fans are the “ULTIMATE FANS” ever… Hope you know that David.

Funny story: I was at a Computer Society Meeting for beginner’s last evening and brought my Laptop. It just so happens, that I have one of those Crowd Pictures as the HBackground on my computer. ha! Busted. Luckily the friend with me alreay knows I’m a big DA fan and right away knew it must be one of his Audiences. We had a neat little discussion about his fans. She said “Their all Young” We then talked about how people like JR are there but know how to be Ninja!!
Love all the trips down Memory Lane and am estatic that David is singing in a Concert there. Hope we have some Ninja’s there like JR as stated above. It looks very public with the Poster and all. It’s nice that other Missionaries will sing too.

Sarahhazel when you go off to college (depending on where you go of course) the LDS church will have what we call an ‘Institute of Religion’. That us where most of the lds kids who go to that college hang out. It’s like a home away from home. It’s where you go to church, it’s where you study, hang out with friends, take religion classes and there are weekly activities there if not more often and my favorite was the dances.
I went to the one at the U of A in Tucson. There were 4 singles wards (congregations) that met there with hundreds of lds students so I didn’t know everybody, mostly just the people in my ward and institute classes. I met my husband in the parking lot as I was going home on a Wednesday night after an activity. Then we met again the next monday when he came to Family Home Evening with a former mission companion of his who went to the same FHE as me because he was in my ward. We hit it off and started dating right away. Three months later we were married.

Was on the phone with a girl at Simply Thai and she said she was looking at a picture of David with the owner, Nally. She’s going to have Nally call me, but knows she’ll accomodate us. The Olympics will cut into my FOD time (the trials already have), but they only happen every 2 years and I figure FOD will always be here to come back to. My favorite summer sports are gymnastics, swimming, diving, and volleyball. My favorite winter sport is figure skating. Two things I can go on and on about are sports and David

OK, I got the scoop from Nally, the owner of Simply Thai. She said the Archuleta family has been at her restaurant over the years easily 50 times or more. She catered for them for his concert at Abravanel Hall (mission announcement) and for his missionary farewell.
Things the family usually orders:
Satay: Chicken or pork marinated in a coconut milk curry, skewered and grilled.
Served with peanut sauce.
TOM KHA
Creamy Thai coconut soup with sliced chicken breast, galangal, mushrooms, onions,
cilantro, red and green bell peppers, baby corn and lime sauce.
PAD THAI (David)
Sauteed rice noodles in a Simply Thai special sauce with choice of meat, egg,
carrots, scallions and bean sprouts. Garnished with bean sprouts, carrots and
ground peanuts.
PAD PA NANG
Stir-fried meat in Thai Panang curry with coconut milk, Thai basil, red and green
bell peppers and ground peanuts.
GANG MASSAMAN (David the chicken, his dad the beef)

When I saw ING mv it’s just brought me back to Elvis Presley yt from 1st movie King Creole he sang Crawfish if anyone can bring that over from yt u will c scene is part of the movie scene: in his bedroom, walk out to a tiny balcony and sing while walk back into the bedroom comb his hair can see behind thin white curtain and walk out putting his blue plaid shirt on top of the white t-shirt and walk back to the balcony again. David got that same product in him I’m waiting for it to come out ha ha…this clip was simply hot hot hot just like David’s ING MV.
And my short list for David for 2014 “If I Can Dream” by Elvis I can see David doing this song, inspiration type song. Elvis is in white suits in that yt video. If someone can bring these 2 video to share I would be happy because I don’t know how to.

Shanny~:) Well, the only elders in my church are called “deacons”, or “board members”. The board consists of 4-5 peeps voted on by congregation members, who have an in-depth knowledge of the Bible and are normally a whole lot older than me. lol.

hey everyone! I read the thing about David’s concert and the person is asking the fans if they meet David to only greet him with a shake.
I was reading the comments in D’s singing event and one guy said he does not want people who are not LDS or from Rancagua to come because some people are coming from Argentina….but the person who created the FB said everyone is welcome even if there are not LDS. Looks like this guy does not want fans to just come to see David sing.
Everyone in the neighborhood is celebrating the snippit it think. A lot of noise outside. We have fires all over Utah right now. Two different ones are close to two of my sons. We could really use some rain.
Ok So I read the whole thing on D’s singing Event of FB. From what I understood member of the Centro(CENTER) Jas Rancagua can invited non members and member that are not active. There is one guy who said that he doesn’t wants David’s fans to come to the event just for David but for the LDS church.
That guy is silly.
Jeani, took this picture earlier from my street of the fire in Alpine. Wasn’t caused by fireworks but by a back hoe. Either from the heat of the vehicle on the dry shrubbery or a spark from the hoe. LCT, twitter is such an easy way to promote David. I keep a running list of the twitter accounts of media/celebrities/radio stations/talk shows that support David and when there is something David related, I tweet it out to those people that I think are likely to do a blurb on it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I was happy to @ladyvmusic retweeted my link to the clip. I sorta thought she would because she has always had good things to say about David and her 10,000+ followers include lots of people in the music business. Hopefully, more fans from different countries will set up their own lists and tweet out David news. It’s so easy.

HAPPY 4th of July good ol’ US of A! This day means so much to me – living so far away and missing the good (& the bad) things about this great country! After many years of living in another community, country, continent – I have truly come to appreciate my roots! US gets dogged and criticized about a lot of things over here but I can say (after many years of traveling all over the world) – we have alot to be proud of!
