The 21-year-old soul singer (and “American Idol” season seven runner-up) has just released a new music video for his sensational new love song, “I’ll Never Go,” and this might be Archie’s best song yet!
The new ballad, which is sure to get tons of radio airplay this summer (it’s HOT!), is off David’s fourth studio album “Forevermore,” a collection of original Filipino love songs. (The video for “I’ll Never Go” was filmed in Manila, Philippines).
Archuleta has been out of the spotlight in recent months. In December, the half-Honduran singer surprised his fans with the announcement that he was putting his music career on hold to embark on a two-year Mormon mission. Then in March, David had another surprise for his fans: he announced he was cutting his Bieber-esque locks in favor of a more conservative look. “Just about to go get my haircut for my mission. You have to keep it short and clean, and nicely cut, so I’m going to go do that now,” the singer said at the time.
“Forevermore,” is already available at music stories in the Phillipines and available for digital download.

I was one whose first reaction to David’s mission announcement was probably shock. Soon, however, I settled into my belief that this decision fit my view of him as a person who lives his life both courageously and thoughtfully. Since I have no doubt that he intends to return to music, I found my peace and figured I’d use the time to catch up on the several things that my David devotion had derailed. Friends I spoke with online and in the real world spoke of their own reactions, and some of us who live near one another promised we’d see each other during the break. You know how it is? How those in our lives who aren’t fans often seem to visibly exercise patience when we forget and say that name one more time? But David fans get David fans. We need each other now as much as ever.On the weekend of his departure, a group of us met over lunch (to talk about David as much as we wanted, dangit) and soon were discussing “next time.”
We decided to do something in Kansas City in addition to lunch, and eventually settled on this concert, probably largely because both headliners, Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Callait, have a connection to David — I believe he’s spoken of both in blogs or vlogs.June 23 turned out to be very hot, but we met for lunch in an air conditioned restaurant and drove air conditioned cars to the Starlight, Kansas City’s outdoor venue, where we had tickets to the show starting at 4pm. We then spent four and a half hours seeking whatever shady spots we could find and refilling our cups and water bottles. (We were late getting the memo about the headliners coming on after five opening acts and tons of recorded music.) But we talked about our families, David, our jobs, and David, our vacation plans and also David.
The time passed.One opener who got our attention was Andy Grammer. He can sing, he writes his own stuff and he’s quite charismatic. We were impressed. We all also enjoyed Colbie, with her wonderful husky voice and positive pop hits. Gavin came across to me as someone who gets lost in the music like someone else we know, and his set was fun and energetic. We had a great time and we’re already talking about the next “next time.”
We’ll know one another better by the time David returns and we’ll be ready to see him in concert. For him, it could never really be too hot or cold or long to wait, right?

David at the Beach
Sammie here! I just wanted to add what a wonderful time we had together! I would encourage all of David’s fans to keep planning these kind of events with each other. It’s amazing what being around a group of people who all share the same kind of heart. It’s very good for the soul! I am so thankful for the past four years to being able to meet these wonderful people, and be able to share a trip like this. It’s was also very refreshing for the “David Soul.” It was very nice to be able to look back on each of our amazing memories of David show’s and events with each other, also to be able to think about the future. I am very happy to say I was able to cross off “Go on an amazing road trip in the west” off my bucket list! I’m going to leave you guys with a quote I saw while on the road trip.

We should keep voting for I’l Never Go.
My favorite video seems to be the least favorite of everyone else. It’s Touch My Hand. I think it’s because it’s David in his natural element, on stage with a microphone. I love the splashes of color on the black & white too, and seeing the adoring teen fans go crazy over him. It’s always been in my top 10 favorite songs of David’s too. I like the artistry of both Forevermore and ING. Probably Crush next, then ALTNOY, then SBL and last Wait. I find myself trying to figure out what the heck’s going on with that video (Wait) more than listening to and enjoying the song. NA is somewhere in the middle, though I think I’ve only seen it a couple times.
So glad that David Begin was the most popular cd right now at Deseret Book

Frankie ~ Everyone handles things differently. You can’t put everyone into a box and expect them to react the same way. People process their emotions differently. There is no right or wrong way! I am sure some people didn’t even shed a tear, while others cried until there were no more tears left to shed.
Oh I know people handle things in different ways. But crying for 6 hours? And then posting about it. Idk. I just think it’s a little odd. And dramatic.

Didn’t really cry when I first saw the announcement on YT….guess I was just so shocked…couldn’t even utter a word….but my heart felt so heavy….kept thinking why? why? why?….then after a few days….I had moments I get a little teary…now I’m missing him a lot still but generally OK with it….thanks to FOD.

Thank you Pastel for the awesome post. You guys are all beyond amazing.
I love all the goodies David has left us fans, but without him around, and not even able to communicate with the fans, really takes (for me) a bit of the fun out of the whole fandom experience. For me anyway, it’s about following the process of his career through concerts, tv appearances, vlogs and of course, the most important, his music that make it so darn exciting. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving Forevermore album and so looking forward to BEGIN, but I can’t wait until I will be able to feel that full excitement again.

Concerning Funnygirl’s post on the Voice – sometimes when something difficult occurs in your life, the emotions come out in something unrelated. Its like an outlet, the crying is very easy. I lost someone very dear to me and I could cry at sporting events. Even though something else happens, you equate the feelings of loss to other things; I guess its a defense mechanism.
In my case, I became even closer to David as a fan after the announcement, because I thought “wow, he’s not supposed to leave, he’s supposed to be here.” So here I am, everyday, keeping up with news about him, when before I knew he was travelling around and I kind of took him for granted.
Again, thanks for letting me express my feelings and opinions. You guys are the best!

Frankie – I understand your thoughts…but as someone else said, everyone is so different. I personally did not cry at the announcement, have not cried since the announcement, and don’t intend to cry. But, as Really a lurker was sharing…we all come from different places and experiences…and I think all of us have a different level of “attachment” to David…it’s all relative to who we are. I personally think David’s departure is a wonderful thing for many of us because, hopefully, in his two-year absence, we are able to put things in a much better perspective. And also, ironically, David is the perfect example of someone doing just that.

Wow! Loving all the great posts,been missing all the action on FOD was away on vacation and was in a bad car accident with my sister and brother-in-law that totaled his truck.I am so happy and thankful that we were ok but now a little bummed to find out that there was a KC get together!! I live in Independence which is like 20 minutes from the Starlight and my mom gets tickets from her work for their concerts and have never been able to go to one of these get togethers for David,I guess I will just have to wait for another opportunity to attend.

Stefano has a single out I’m On A Roll and he just released it in Spanish. they do play the English version on the radio and yes while lol it is nothing like what David would record I guess there is a market for Spanish pop songs too? hope the market increases and of course David records a whole CD in Spanish!

Great post today
Loved that write-up lct posted from Funny Girl. She wasn’t the only one who cried after the announcement. It took a few hours for me, but the next night, I bawled in bed for about four hours and cried a little more the next day. It’s very hard to deal with the loss of someone or something that’s been a part of your norm for so long. Even though I knew he wouldn’t be gone for good, it was still hard. I’m at peace now, even though I still think of him every day and wonder how he is. I know he’ll be okay.
Sarahhazel, re: the Pomona show, were you up on that riser that was over the ramp that David used to run up on stage(left-hand side of the stage)? If so, I was right there with you. Mom and I didn’t feel like being squished, even though I would’ve loved to be close enough to ‘touch his hand’

Sarahhazel, I remember the balcony area. It was above the bar counter in the back, if I’m remembering right. We thought about going up there(mom’s not a crowd person), but I wanted to be close for pics. From where you were, we were along the wall on the left. Picture where David ran up and on to the stage. There was a riser-like ramp over the walk way he ran up. My mom and I were there along with a few other people. That was a fun show, my first David show so you can probably guess how over the moon I was. I was on air the whole day and for a few days afterward

kimk – yep that’s true, lol. But, I don’t think he’d have to be uncovered in any way to notice a change. For instance, my husband is NEVER uncovered, but the fact that he works out is very obvious to anyone who meets him. At some point you just can’t really hide it…and you don’t even have to be huge. That’s what I mean…not AT ALL saying that David should be immodest at ANY time, lol. I think the Magic Mike reference was misleading. Sorry!

sarahhazel, you and I are in the same boat. I’m the only one with ODD in my family, too. My mom enjoys his concerts(thank God, since I try to go to one every year and I need her to drive), but neither she or my sister are certifiably ODD like I am.

Hola everyone. Yes there is a Spanish music market and radio stations too and billboard top Latin hits . One of the few reasons why I was happy that David is serving in Chile is because he is going to speak Spanish when he comes back! My dream is to hear him in a Spanish station one day.
