The lead picture above is a wonderful behind the scenes pic of David taken while shooting the music video for “I’ll Never Go.” [which will be released this coming Sunday] Look at the emotion David is showing us in the photo!! He looks quite contemplative…..perhaps worried….and he’s packing a suitcase. I think all of the coaching David received during the filming of Nandito Ako from @Anagfeleo really paid off!!! He’s very convincing!
I wasn’t quite sure if the dark blue material bunched behind his head was an attached hood or some type of cinch sac, so I asked Kari…and she kindly responded with a visual for us!!!

Early the next morning, David and Jasmine met for breakfast and then prayer before catching the ferry back to L.A. I love this, David thought to himself as he listened to Jasmine. It was so amazing to share this time with her, to hear what was on her heart. Praying always brought them closer to God and to each other. Last night, after saying goodnight to Jasmine, he’d spent some time alone in prayer. After what had happened between them, he’d felt so confused and conflicted. This weekend had definitely shown him that his attraction to Jasmine had grown even stronger and he didn’t know how to handle the intensity of his feelings. It was wonderful to cry out to God and set his heart and mind at ease. When he’d awaken this morning, he’d felt the peace and faith that only prayer can give.
“I hate to leave,” said Jasmine, as she finished praying. They were sitting on the beach looking out at the waves. “But I’m so happy that I got the chance to be here with Edgar and Lisa…and you.”
“So am I,” said David, taking her hand.
“It’s been so great. And…I guess…honestly I’ve gotten a bit spoiled getting to spend so much time with you, not just this weekend but since the accident. We’ve been together almost every day. I knew it couldn’t last forever, but, I’m going to miss being with you,” she said.
David could see the sadness in her eyes. He squeezed her hand sympathetically. “I’m going to miss it too…but you know what’s never going to change?” he said, putting his arm around her. “How much I love you.”
Jasmine smiled. “I know. I don’t know where all this is coming from,” she said.
For a few moments, neither of them spoke… and yet they heard each other loud and clear.
Then, looking at Jasmine attentively David said, “You don’t have to explain…I understand.” And as she looked into his eyes, she knew that he did.

The next few weeks were busy for both of them as they returned to life as normal. Jasmine resumed modeling for the first time since the accident and David began traveling to promote his new album. It was a difficult transition for both of them, but particularly for Jasmine. I miss him so much, she thought, trying to focus on her work. They’d had a couple of dates since the trip, which had been wonderful, but she looked forward to when they’d be able to spend even more time together.
She often thought about the last conversation they’d had on the island. She hadn’t known how to express it then but it was as if what had happened between them the night before they’d left had triggered feelings inside her that were almost overwhelming. It made this time even harder to bear.
One evening Lisa came over for dinner. Jasmine was so grateful for her friendship as the two had grown very close. After dinner they sat talking in her living room.
“So, how’ve you been?” asked Lisa. “We haven’t had much time to chat lately.”
“I know. I’ve been okay,” said Jasmine. “Getting back to work has been great…”
“But?” asked Lisa, seeing Jasmine’s hesitation.
“But…I can’t shake this sadness that I feel about David and I,” she said, suddenly starting to cry.
Alarmed, Lisa rose from her seat and sat beside Jasmine. “Oh, Jasmine! What’s wrong? I thought everything was great between you two,” she said.
“It is,” said Jasmine between sobs, “but that’s what makes it so hard.”
“I don’t understand,” said Lisa. “What do you mean?”
Trying to catch her breath, Jasmine told Lisa about what happened between her and David the night before they’d left the island and the conversation they’d had the next morning.
“I know that we love each other, that he loves me. And I don’t want to go back down the same road with the whole proposal thing but…our relationship is so much deeper than it was before. I don’t really know how to explain it,” she said, wiping away tears.
Smiling sympathetically, Lisa said, “I think I know what you’re trying to say — you want to be married.”
“Yes,” said Jasmine, dejectedly. “I thought I had moved past that…that I was okay with the way things were, but now I see that I need so much more, that we need so much more. I just feel this intense longing…and I believe he feels the same way…so why doesn’t he want to be married?”
Putting her arm around Jasmine, Lisa said, “David’s the only one who can answer that question, but I know one thing for sure: he loves you more than anything in the world. When it’s right, it will happen.”
“I hope you’re right,” said Jasmine. “It’s just hard feeling this way and not knowing when, or if, it’s going to happen. It’s like torture.”
Then, sighing and smiling weakly she said, “Wow…I thought that once we got back together all the tears were behind me. Guess I was wrong. Why do things have to be so complicated?”
“That’s a great question. If only I had the answer,” said Lisa, laughing. Then looking at Jasmine closely she asked, “Are you going to be okay?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine,” said Jasmine, smiling. “Thanks for letting me vent and cry on your shoulder.”
“That’s what best friends are for,” said Lisa, returning her smile.

Hey Anita! Thanks for your concern. Its quite a mess up in Duluth & now Moose Lake. Over $100 million dollars in damage. An incredible story, an eight year old boy (from Louisianna) visiting family, was jumping in a culvert when the pressure pulled him away for a 1 mile ride & he was found in the woods near the water. He survived with some cuts and bruises, a miracle. He said “I’ll never do that again”, lol. Tough little guy

I really like how you are incorporating the spirituality of the characters into the storyline, and how they are struggling with the conflict between their feelings for each other and their religious beliefs. This is not a topic which you usually see in a romance and it makes the story that much more interesting!

I am not usually here when you are commenting, but I wondered if you knew that the funding raising effort to raise $150,000 to cover Luciano’s pro:sthetics for the rest of his life met its goal!!! I think that young boy’s incredible courage and positive outlook even in the face of extreme adversity really touched a lot hearts!. A big thank you to both you and kmb for directing me to the video about him. It was really inspirational!

Got two groups staying in two of the apts’ Gotta see how they destroyed the places in one and a half months. It’s a lot of work. Beth, sorry to hear of all the hardships MN is enduring lately. Heard the news of a motorist coming face to face with a baby seal on a flooded road way. It looked like a deer in the headlights when they tried t rescue it. Luckily they got the little fellow in time. Glad to hear Twin Cities are OK.

Thanks idamae! Duluth & Moose Lake are a mess right now. We had some storms in the twins cities, lots of rain, some damage in the outer suburbs, but up North, will take months & months to repair. Crazy about the animals from the zoo, so sad about the animals lost

Beth, I think you were right about David’s reflections of life being difficult not necessarily eluding to him but of the situation around him. I get chile tv and was shocked to find a family of 5 living in a tree house in winter because they lost their house. The story had a happy ending cuz some benevolent soul gave them a house to call their own

Question for Rapport if you would like to respond since based on your comments you seem to articulate well what David may be doing when he returns from his mission. I would like your thoughts on this: I often wondered when David came in 2nd on AI7 and signed with Jive and after “Crush” being so successful and extremely popular at that time why Jive did not have him do a duet with a Top 40 artist to propel his career since after “Crush” there was minimal radio play . I was waiting patiently for a duet and nothing happened. I have been a fan since AI7 and will wait until he returns because I love his voice it’s very unique. The way Jive handled David’s career just bugs me as I do believe even though David had certain requests regarding what he would or would not do they could have done something keep him relavent with Top 40 radio play at that time. I often wonder if David would have signed with Disney based on his age if it would have been a better fit for him because Disney sure does promote him even till today. I know David is way beyond a Disney artist based on his voice and knowledge of music but at 17yrs old at the time I do believe he would have gotten a lot more continued exposure. I always had so many questions following David’s career as I wanted him to be recognized in US for the great talent that he is. But I do believe that when he returns he will be a force in the music industry. Being a fan and seeing him grow from a 17 yr old to 21 has been an amazing joy. JMHO
A Fan, I am not privy to any of the decisions and discussions of Jive and David, but I think the record label just didn’t know what to do with a multi-genre rarity like David. Disney, for me, would have been the place to start, but when you have this level and ridiculous diversity of of talent, you generally start out first with the mainstream stuff. David did well by that, but the promotion and publicity that went into his next entry just wasn’t there. It was spotty at best. His fans did more to publicize him than Jive ever did. The fans get David, know David, have David’s back and career in mind — always.
I think David’s decision to part with the label was a good one. We’re just now starting to see the real potential of David Archuleta and I am almost certain he will do a duet with an A-lister in the coming years after his Mission. I’m only sorry it hasn’t happened sooner. Forget about the Charice and Miley duets. This boy needs the matching pipes of a Celine Dion or an Adele. Even a Regine Velasquez would be sublime.
As David moves forward, I am convinced we will have the rare gift of multi-genre and multi-generational music from one artist. There will be more pop, but also the first of many Spanish (maybe even French), inspirational, country, gospel, broadway tunes and ballad albums. Throw in hip-hop and David has more towering talent in his small frame than any singer out there.

Because of David’s talent and upon hearing him sing live many times and amazing I might add that I wanted him to be acknowledge for the true talent that he is. When I followed him on AI7 I always wondered what he would sound like in a live setting and when I went to AI7 tour I became hooked. His voice in that venue was off the charts. I have been to Celine’s concert and many others who have great voices and he falls right in with those artists talent wise. My wish list would be for him to do a spanish duet with Gloria Estenfan when he returns. I think that they would sound amazing together.

The leave-taking-David had some interesting creative songs on both albums, and was trying some intriguing performances, and indicated he wanted to move away from conventional pop. He was showing his innovative music side. However, let’s hope the coming-back-David won’t be just a Deseret house-singer and a “connected to God” voice, no matter how much we respect his inspiration and spirituality. There are many dimensions of listeners’ lives that he should strive to connect with if people are going to stay interested in him. His cuteness will carry him only so far, and two years of fans focusing on it is not going to help him. With only a couple exceptions, the “David Archuleta Turn Up The Music” youtube video by “TherealNoelia” is really on the right track in its selection of visuals.
