It’s Quiet!

Taking advantage of this quiet time to do some maintenance on the site, as well as some serious maintenance on Pastel 😉 Yesterday, I posted some opening numbers from a few David Archuleta Tours.  Here’s a few more firsts for David! If you go to Topsy and input “Davidarchie first” you get pages and pages of tweets!  David had ALOT of firsts and tweeted about them!  Here are but a few below.  I’ll post some more tomorrow! So many food “firsts”: samoan food first   And a few firsts about Spanish music! first alma tweet And I just had to post that FIRST and AMAZING performance. It was definitely the performance of the year for me. And another more recent tweet about a new Spanish song!  And fans responded positively! first spanish song written A new word! catharsis tweet And the definition here: catharsis And a first adventure, of sorts! first drive out of Utah david in a red car automobile vehicle Ahhh, David visits the Mall of America in Minnesota! first time mall of america And I had to show that awesome, spontaneous performance of I’ll Be. Love how David asks for permission before he sings tho. And I’ll end today with David’s first time in Canada!   Was THRILLED when he posted this *sigh* I’ll post a few more firsts tomorrow, but feel free to post in our comments or on Facebook! And this was posted by Eric Alper a few days ago:  encouragement to step out of our comfort zone and learn a new instrument! Is anyone going to try that in 2015? thatericalper Who knows, 2015 may be the year that we may see more of this: 20080820-Archuleta_David guitar red And this! guitar * * * * *

Literally cried where Enrique “confessed” and when they played @DavidArchie’s Forevermore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK9cf2RSgKQ&sns=tw

unfortunately it says the video is not available in the US?

    • Mary Dee says:

So, apparently, there’s a Filipino TV series called Forevermore that’s currently running and the main actors were being interviewed in a talk show. What’s special about that segment was that, even though the theme song for the TV drama was sung by someone else, during the interview it was David’s that was played. And the ever loyal Pinoy Archies caught that lovely version right away. I screamed when I heard it too. It made me miss David even more so!! David is still a hot item in the Phils. Someone should mention that to him 🙂 Also, on Twitter, I see a lot of Asian radios playing his tunes besides Archie Radio and Radio VLC. Perhaps David should make a little trip to Asia 🙂

    • IMO says:

I hope so there will be a 2015 album , people are saying thinks that david is stepping away from his music career. Well right now he is going back to college this week I am sure of it.

David archuleta looks like a dinosaur not in a bad way tho

    ha what?

  7. kimk says:

who knows what is up.. could very well be David lost his love of music.

David Archuleta use to be my nigga.

see this a lot.. going to assume he means it in a good way.. ha or not.

  8. kimk says:

funny though what David said about changing
what I see.. videos from the Celebration of Christ, RSO, etc still has the voice of an angel, gorgeous, still shy, awkward.. just older really haven’t seen that big of a change except he is a bit more reserved.. kind of like a hermit or maybe just into doing his own thing not sure.
school is good though can help you with doing the things you are naturally gifted to do with your life and/or even find something else to do when what it is you wish to do doesn’t work out for one reason or another. if David decides not to do music well all I can think of is that as he has the voice of an angel I don’t really see him as a lyricist or a musician but who knows maybe that is what he is taking in college to help him out?
got me just posting what I am thinking for the most part.
hey you never know maybe all the new music he has been writing etc didn’t come out all that well? not saying his voice just mean the other parts the music.. the production etc?

ha now I could be very wrong it could just be he found his MKOP and is married.. all this would make sense too. 🙂

    • cq says:

The only change I have seen is that he has distance himself from his fans and really seems to be even more shy and withdrawn. I’m sure that in his comfort zone home and church he might be different, but really from some tweets that seems to not be the case. I will say I’m a bit worried about him.

  9. Lucy says:

Whoa, where did that come from? Of course he’ll still do music, the new year just started and who knows what’s up his sleeve. I know it’s been quiet lately but it has been Christmas vacation and Davids first holiday with his family in two years, we’ll probably hear from him soon. My feeling is that maybe he will be working on his new music again this month, who knows, cheer up people!

    • Martha says:

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m “cheery”. I’m also observant as are others. I think people are just expressing their opinions so whoa to you lol

    • AlsoObserving says:

I agree with cheering up! I had all kinds of doubts and fears for the majority of 2014, (I brought negativity here, and I feel horrible about it, but I was expressing honest feelings at the time) anyway… I think David is just taking his time to do things right. He’s in his early 20s, he’s getting his life together, he’s integrating his Chile experience, he’s thinking about what he wants to create in his life, he’s reconnecting with his family, he’s writing, he’s probably taking some helpful and informative classes… I’m so happy for him! And I’m excited for him to release the music he’s been writing. : )

He’ll come back to us. I’ve moved from doubt and fear to hope and faith.

Looking forward to hearing your “Seasons” song @DavidArchie. I like that title.

no clue what is up except that we will see, hear the new MV, song and he will perform it this Feb 14 and from what I saw a couple of Archies (Janel and one other) is going!
    hope for videos!

  11. kimk says:

yeah really I have no clue what is up.. just saying what I was thinking wondering.
I think it would really stink if he did give up music.. singing.. he just is when he sings live.

    • Martha says:

Wow, your guess is as good as mine. Now that it’s DA2015, I wonder if we’ll get more of DA2014. I laugh when I think of the day he returned and what at least I was expecting within the following few months. We were so used to him being so connected with fans (“hope you feel my heart”, “you came on this journey with me”) that now we feel in the dark when he just isn’t talking about this plans. And I don’t mean a little something here and there that we happen to hear from a third party or a short interview. I really thought it would be back to Asia right away. lol

      • Grammyj says:

Me too. I also thought he would do a “Begin Again” tour. Well, that didn’t happen. We do know a new song and video is coming in February so there is music coming! He has NOT given up on music. Plus he does us Instagram so we see his lovely face quite often.

        • Candy says:

Add me to the what I had anticipated wagon train. The day his feet were back on American soil I was anticipating at the very least we would have a Christmas Show or two. He doesnt need new music to do that, Christmas songs are iconic and can be sung forever! He has sung..albeit in Hawaii, France, Spain, and a song or two in SLC as part of a Christian Conference. So now Im switching trains as the #DA2014 express came and went so Im hopping on board the #DA2015!

        • Martha says:

I would love for him to vlog/blog or somehow tell us directly what his career plans are, even if short-term and general. I know he is not required to (many artists don’t) but coming directly from him, even if it’s not what we want to hear, would be awesome. That would mean he recognizes he has fans that have an interest in his career and that he is willing to keep them informed. Maybe this is the pressure he spoke of in the LDS chat which could explain his now silence. The IG pics are great, I agree.

      • Candy says:

Martha- You hit the nail on the head, fans (me included)were used to almost daily tweets, vlogs; since his return all of that has changed, we are now experiencing the “New Normal” as to what the archudetectives can dig up, and posts from third parties regarding what he “might” be doing. And the random school comment.

  12. Davidfan says:

He is not giving up music.

  13. Lucy says:

Before his mission, David used to tweet everyday except Sunday, vlog once or twice every month and I think we got spoiled a bit by that and since he’s been back and didn’t immediately go back to that same routine, fans were worried and disappointed. I don’t feel like he is distanced from us at all, just needing more space for things in his personal life, I wouldn’t think he’d want the fast paced career he had before but just maybe he is trying to figure out how he wants his career to go this time around.

  14. Candy says:

I loved what Ali said about her fandom being in semi-hibernation at the moment with an eye on sites watching and waiting for news. Describes where I am to a “T.”

  15. VaBeachArchie says:

David is so MULTI TALENTED…that I find it hard to believe he would not pursue a career in entertainment. He got his first taste of acting in the Philippines..and said he’d love to do more! His Bench gig was a resounding success. Guess it’s ALL HP to him!

Martha….I too am surprised that he hasn’t gone back to Asia?! They love and sport him…both fans and the entertainment industry and press! PLUS he seems so relaxed and happy there!?

Work calls! ENJOY your day and fan time! We’re keeping each other company…venting and expressing our hopes for what 2015 will bring! Glad to have FOD and other fans …Yay! Not alone!

  16. IMO says:

We all don’t know what is going on david” mind plans for the future ahead stay with music or not?? I hope david does speak about it His plans with his music soon. Prolly won’t find out til school is over, just my guess.

Does LDS commuty have part of david singing career and Just make me curious that LDS is holding back david doing a album or just to stop him, just make me wonder?? I do believe that david would have a new album out by now, I wonder this is cause of it?

  26. IMO says:

They want david to focus on LDS not his singing career.

  27. IMO says:

I think david”s mind is pulling two different direction to do more LDS related stuffs or sticking with his music, I think that what is happen with david right now, I might be wrong but just my guesses on this?

  31. Janel aka Nellie says:

I’ll say one thing on this matter and leave it at that. The LDS “community” does not have a hold on David, on me or on anyone else who is LDS. We aren’t puppets on strings doing the bidding of our leaders at every tug and pull. David has his free choice to do what he wants. When opportunities come along, LDS related or not he chooses whether to do them. If I felt even for a fraction of a second I was being bullied or guilted or manipulated into doing what my church leaders tell me to, I’d run for the hills. But, I don’t, I do the things the Lord expects me to because I love Him.
David is writing new music, and it is pop music. We have been told that by him, his management and the people he’s writing with. New music will be released and God willing if he’s able to find enough venues who believe in him he’ll have a tour even if it’s smaller than what we’re used to.
I realize because of lack of tweets and fewer blogs that fans are feeling not cared about or that David has distanced himself from us. I can understand where it’s coming from because I too wish he would tweet and blog more. But I will say one thing, and maybe Shelley or Nancy or Rhiminee or anyone else who was there could back me up on this. At the Celebration of Christ concert, which really can’t be felt or seen as well in a video, David had so much thanks, love and appreciation in his eyes for the fans in the audience when we gave him a standing ovation before the first song and in every ovation after. When he sang you could see that glint in his eyes, the one we’ve all seen at live concerts, that he loves to perform, he loves to connect with the audience. It’s what he’s the best at and what he’s aimed to do ever since Idol. He knows what he has is a gift from God and he’s not going to squander that gift, he’s going to share it. Yes, there will be times when he does “LDS” appearances like firesides, etc. He did before his mission, we just didn’t hear about it as much because he was doing concerts and the Asian trips, etc. so there were other things. There will be other things this year, I’m sure of it, not just a feeling but from what we’ve been told.
Just want to make it clear the things I talked about weren’t necessarily in an answer to things said today, but also in things said in the past. Anyone who knows me knows I won’t idly sit by and see people attack my church and the gospel I love. Moreover I hate it when the attacks are aimed at David. I think as much as he’s given us, as much as he’s done, even during his mission, we owe him a little more respect and faith in his future than that.
Let the Nellie bombardment and attacking begin. I know it will happen. I hope though there is someone, at least one someone who will back me up…even if it’s to agree with most if not all of what I’m saying.

    • kimk says:

wish we all could be there too to see that glint.. glad you and the others did for sure.
but I don’t think many non lds peeps are going to go to that Rootstech conference so guess us peeps will still be here not having an opportunity to see what you have and other fortunate others have seen first hand.

hmm wonder if the Celebration of Christ DVD is still coming out this month?

      • Mary Dee says:

They said early 2015 so I would guess that they meant this month or it’ll be too early for next Christmas 🙂 I know I’m getting it for David’s 5 songs in that concert. It’ll be worth it. 🙂

    • IMO says:

Janel neillie, We all know that LDS commuity is a very strick and very protective of david and his career. I am just giving my opinion that I do feel that LDS is holding off on david having a singing career , they want david all themselfs not him having a singing caReer ,We all have the right to have opinions and thoughts. I believe that david would have album out and getting ready for it. Every since he gotton back from mission. , he had done nothing wrotechurch songs and going to church and singing And going to Firesides, not doing pop songs at all or putting out a album, I can see the pattern now that LDS is taking over. I am sure we don’t know what behind close door with david, LDS and his music career all together.

      • Janel aka Nellie says:

That is complete bullcrap! Stop spouting off things you don’t know. Completely not true.

        • IMO says:

I am just giving my opinion that all. I might be wrong , just my guesses with all this that all. U need to chill.

      • Janel aka Nellie says:

Sorry IMO but what you’re doing is not stating an opinion. You’re conjecturing, you’re stating that things are true which aren’t. LDS church taking him over and keeping him to themselves? Balderdash and poppycock! LDS church stopping his career? Are you serious what you’re saying? You are wrong and I don’t have to know David or know his family to know that is wrong. Please stop making statements you have no clue about.

        • IMO says:

I am not arguing with u Like I said over and over just my stating my opinions that all. David had not been studio writing for a new album at all,he had been writing church songs only, we all can see that, that is a Fact! If david was studio working on a new album, he would have tell us more and more, he had not lately. Goodnight folks.

        • Candy says:

Janel- why bother to respond, you arent going to win with this person no matter what you or even God was to say. People that know you already understand how you feel.

      • Janel aka Nellie says:

He also has not written any church songs. I defy you to name one.

      • Janel aka Nellie says:

HE HAS NOT WRITTEN ANY CHURCH SONGS. I said it before, I’ll say it again. Not a single one. I defy you to name one. He’s written two Christmas songs. Both before his mission. He has sung church songs, but not written ANY of them. Glorious was written by Stephanie Mabey and is a pop song she had on a pop album. When Meet the Mormons was made they asked her if they could use that song and they asked David to sing it. David DID NOT write it. Get your facts straight before blabbing off.

      • Janel aka Nellie says:

And…are you calling David a liar? Because it sounds to me like you are. In a tweet-fest to fans he answered one fan stating he was writing pop and Spanish music. David wrote some songs with Stephanie Mabey and her dad said in a tweet they are pop songs. He has written with many other writeres (not all LDS) and we know he is releasing new music because he said he is. Not just the Spanish song. Different news articles of people who have interviewed stated he told them he’s writing new music that will be released in 2015. I so tire of this. You go beyond writing your opinion IMO… your stating things you believe are fact when they aren’t.

    • bds says:

I agree with you Janel. Being LDS, I also know that what ever David is doing is his choice and he is not being forced to do anything he doesn’t want to do. I also wish he would tweet and blog more and I just think he is doing things his own way now.

    • ray says:

got your back, janel. thinks for speacking up

    • CindyUT says:

Yep! I can back you up, Janel. As you already know, I was at the same COC concert as you and I had the great pleasure of also witnessing David as you have described….. full of thanks, love and appreciation for his fans each time we gave him a standing ovation. That twinkle in his eyes indicating how much he enjoys performing for others. The connection he made with his audience with every song he performed. It almost felt like we were back in time visiting the “good ‘ole days”!

      • Janel aka Nellie says:

Yup, exactly!!! I think I was overwhelmed to tears about all of it, his voice, his gratitude, his love for it all and how he took it in. It was wonderful wasn’t it? Feeling pretty blessed to have been able to witness it and I’m feeling pretty positive that he’ll share it with others, not only in Utah on a tour, even if it’s a smaller one than we’re used to. He loves to perform, he loves that what he sings connects with others. He loves our appreciation. We saw and felt it and it’s true!

  32. kimk says:

    twitter is down..

  33. kimk says:

    ahh twitter just came back!

Janel think David is still a pretty shy guy.

  34. cq says:

I’m pretty sure the church isn’t holding David back from being a success. I’m sure that in fact they probably want him to be super successful, after all they get 10% of his income, so the more he makes, the more the church makes.

  35. supergrandjudie #DA2015 says:

Hi All. Thanks for your great post Pastel. I see we all have different views on what will be with David. I’m hanging in there, like the rest of you. We are in hibernation. 🙂 Whatever he’s doing, I wish him all the best. I keep trying to let go a little but my ODD is so hard to ease up. A few tweets once in a while would be wonderful. Sometimes, I think maybe a Dear Jane letter is coming to us. Hope not. Youth is on his side. Wish I could say that about me. 🙂

  36. Janel aka Nellie says:

IMO, fine, stop arguing then. Stop stating things that you say are fact when they aren’t true. An opinion stops being an opinion when you say things like “we all know the LDS church does this.” That’s you stating something you think you know to be true, not an opinion, it’s all in how you write your words. Know this, there are many many times in the past when you and others have attacked my church. I used to just let it go, but I don’t anymore. Don’t blab things you don’t know about. You are stating lies, not stating opinions.

    • blisskasden says:

Janel, as you can plainly see from the post at 9:52 PM there are still people who have no problem coming on this fan site and insulting the LDS Church. I wonder how these people would feel if someone spoke about their families the way they talk about David’s religion.

      • cq says:

Bliss, first of all I don’t just come on this site to insult the lds church, I comment all the time and really, why is the truth an insult. Heck where did I say anything about David’s family. What the heck!!!!!!!!!! Get off high horse.

        • blisskasden says:

CQ, I was taking to Janel about your cynical post about David and the LDS Church. Your response to me is self serving and makes no sense.

      • Janel aka Nellie says:

Bliss, just FYI, I was not bothered by what CQ said at all. The fact is most LDS members pay tithing. I don’t think the church wants David to be successful for that reason, but I can understand how people can view it that way.

        • blisskasden says:

Janel, if you knew the anti-LDS agenda that CQ has been been promoting for years, you might not be so quick to give her a pass on that comment. It was intended as a dig that your Church is using David for the money he can provide them as a successful singer.

        • Janel aka Nellie says:

Bliss-regardless, what she said this evening is fine. I’m not going to say anymore tonight about it. I tire of it. Candy is right, I’m just feeding the trolls and hitting brick walls, not accomplishing anything. My original post was just to let facts be replaced with false conjectures about the church and the attacks on it. I didn’t feel attacked by CQ. It’s all good.

  37. kimk says:

who knows what is going on.
easier to hide out then to take things on full force.. can’t fail that way.

  38. supergrandjudie #DA2015 says:

Anyone heard from Beth lately? Miss her. Hope all is okay.

  39. josie says:

HEYYYY…. Do I need to step in and referee? I know karate…. 🙂

  40. Lucy says:

I like what you said earlier Janel, you always seem to be the voice of reason here at times, I feel as you do, things will be happening, sure it’s slow right now but the year has barely started, who knows in store. Yeah I wish he’d tweet and vlog more too but maybe he’ll do that more eventually, anyway I look forward to this new year with David, and I have to say that I’m glad that there are others here that are excited too and not thinking doom and gloom:)

Janel-why let one little troll get that under your skin…they do it all the time. While they are entitled to their opinions why stoke a fire you cant put out. Its like talking to a wall. Trust me Ive tried, got tired off beating my head on my desk. Best way is to ignore.

  42. ray says:

candy its hard to ignore when it s on and on every day on all sites, same people

    • Candy says:

I know, I just feel bad when it gets someone as sweet as Janel upset. When I see their name, I just ignore.

      • Candy says:

To be honest, over the past 7 years of being a fan and commenting on sites, Ive learned to put on blinders and apply the ignore technique to a lot of different things. I know thats not always easy but it ♪Works For Me♪

        • Mary Dee says:

hey, Candy 🙂 how did you get the notes to come out? I can only do 🙂 , 😀 , and 😉 hahah

      • Janel aka Nellie says:

Awww, thanks for saying I’m sweet. My claws came out tonight, so I’m not always sweet, but thanks regardless. LOL. I’m done though, just so you know.

  43. josie says:

IMO~Hi. I have an honest question for you. Is English your first language?

    • josie says:

An hour later…….Hm. I guess she really meant goodnight. lol.

    • IMO says:

Hey Josie, Stop bullying!!! Thank u.

      • josie says:

Hey, IMO….I wasn’t. That was a serious question. If a person doesn’t know all of the words in a language, he/she might use words that don’t always “fit”. You do use a lot of words that make it sound like you’re NOT just expressing your opinion. You use words that make it sound like they are absolute facts, like you just “know”. You might want to look at your posts today.

For example, 7:17 am: “he is going back to college this week. I am sure of it.” 6:40 pm: “They want David to focus on LDS not his singing career.” 9:19 pm: “We all know that LDS is very strict..” …and your ENTIRE post at 9:46.

So my question would be “How do you KNOW he’s going back to college? How do you KNOW they want David to focus on LDS, or that he’s only been writing church songs?”

You don’t. And if you don’t know, then please don’t say that it’s a fact, or that you’re sure. It sounds better to say something like, “He’s probably going back to college.” “It seems like he’s only writing church songs.” “I feel that..”, “I believe”, “In my opinion”…That way, it makes it more clear that you ARE only expressing your opinion. Beyond that…I can’t help you. lol.

    • Mary Dee says:

Josie- I was wondering why you had to ask because English is not my first language either. As we all know, he has fans all over the world who barely even speak English so why touch on the language bit?

      • Mary Dee says:

So, it looks like my question posted late 🙂

        • josie says:

Mary Dee- Hi. Sorry if I offended anyone. I know many people from different countries, & some of them struggle to find the right words. I was trying to figure out if that was part of the issue here…or not. Maybe it’s not always a good thing to try to figure things out, ha.

        • Mary Dee says:

exactly why i asked why you had to ask the obvious. i don’t think language was the issue at all. but of course you know that already.

  44. Janel aka Nellie says:

We know David is working on music. He, his management, his co-writers and others have said so. David tweeted that it’s pop and Spanish music.
David has the most beautiful voice. He is a handsome yet humble young man. He is the sweetest of sweethearts. I am hopeful and excited for things to come for him this year. I think we’re in for music that will knock our socks off and Ray will need to have the defibs on the ready. 😉

  45. Hitandrun says:

I have a question for everyone, and this late is probably not the best time to ask it since a lot of people have probably gone to bed already, but here goes anyway. I’ve been trying to back away from being a fan for quite a while now, but wanting to do it and trying to do it are much easier than actually doing it. I’ve been asking myself lately, what if at the end of 2015 nothing has changed from the way 2014 was as far as career activity on David’s part? If he spends 2015 doing only church functions and events and rarely having any kind of contact with fans but still saying, when asked, that he is working on an album, what will you do? Meaning what will I do. Will I then be able to walk away and give up on hoping for a revived career some day? I don’t know. I hope so but I just don’t know. David’s fandom has become a habit that is hard to break. What do you think you will do? Will things change for you or will you still just be waiting and hoping? Btw, I am not predicting what I think is going to happen at all. Just asking myself – what if.

  46. bigfanlurker says:

I agree with everyone, but feel that David is conflicted on some level right now. Cant put my finger on it, but I think he’s wrestling with a couple things.

  47. collegemom says:

I don’t understand why anyone has to make decisions about being a fan, etc. I love David’s voice and I hope for more music and tours so that I can hear that voice and whenever he does that I will still be around. It is not all or nothing and he is only 24 years old. He has a lifetime of music ahead of him in any and all forms which I will assume will ebb and flow just like it does for any artist.

    • Hitandrun says:

If we were all just casual fans as I am with most of the artists I like, I would just buy their music if I hear something I like and not pay any attention to them the rest of the time. Most of us have not been that kind of fan to David. I guess my question is, can I become or will I choose to become, that kind of fan. A fan who pays little attention to the daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly happenings of David but if I happen to hear a song I like I will purchase it. Will I start to see David as just another artist with a good voice or will I hang around all the time as I do not just to be sure I don’t miss something. I don’t think you have been a casual fan of David thus far and if you don’t think you would change anything should 2015 pass the same way as 2014 then you have your answer for yourself to my question. I have not reached that answer yet. Maybe I am the only one who has asked themselves that question as maybe everyone has already decided what they would do. If so, ignore my post.

I love Taylor’s song “Shake It Off” .. If anyone has learned how to handle hate Taylor has, she’s experienced it, and wrote a song about it. For probably the first time David has taken control of his life, and enjoys what he’s doing. He loved us, he tweeted us, blogged consistently, toured, made us beautiful music, albums. He loves God, and lives for God more than ever, after his eyes were opened during his mission. God’s work is first and he’s focusing on his personal endeavors, family, friendships, life, and all those things he put to the side since 2008. Things will fall into place. I’ll definitely be here and ready for the music!

  49. Canadianarchie says:

One more thing, when I read some comments, I really appreciate the opinions even if I don’t agree, and that’s my choice if I do or not. What cracks me up though is this… Some of you know that perhaps David’s family or Kari may read the comments sometimes, some of you obviously tailor comments for THEIR ears LOL. it’s kinda obvious. It’s entertaining 🙂

    • Hitandrun says:

I’m not sure if you had me in mind with your “David’s family” comment, but I assure you it never enters my mind that David’s family would ever bother with what us fans have to say about David or his career. I think they have much better ways to spend their time.

  50. kimk says:
