Adele, Senior Ball and Miranda all in 3 days!

Hi all. David here with another blog. So this week I got to go to the Adele concert!! Adele is amazing amazing amazing amazing, and she sounds so good live! James Morrison opened up for her, and he sings with so much soul. It’s so weird to see him perform because white people usually don’t sing like that haha. But anyway, I loved how Adele didn’t move around a whole lot when she performed.
She was all about the voice, and didn’t try to change that. What’s also cool is that it was at the Murray Theater in Murray, my home town! A few of my friends came with me too, so good times haha.
This Saturday was another extremely exciting day, because I got to go to Senior Ball at my high school!! I didn’t think I’d ever get another chance to go to a school dance, but I asked management and they gave the ok and made time in the schedule for me to go. I had soooo much fun! For our day activity, we had breakfast and then played games. We fit in a lot of them too. We played dodge ball, basketball, musical chairs, apples to apples, and crab soccer. I got a good work out from the crab soccer too haha. We rocked out at the dance too, and even though I sweat so bad it was worth it.
The girl I got to go with was awesome too. After the dance we all watched Mall Cop, but I kept falling asleep lol. I was so tired.
And I had to wake up early in the morning anyway for a flight.
So yesterday, we flew back down to LA, and I did some things for Nickelodeon with Miranda Cosgrove. It was something that involved more lines to say, haha. So I was really nervous before we started, but once we got going I had so much fun! It felt like Miranda and I just hung out all day long, and she’s such a nice girl. But yeah, the lines were for Crush Night that’s coming up on February 7th! The day of my acting debut.. when the episode of iCarly I’m on airs. It really is so much fun working with all of them on that show. I wasn’t sure if I’d get to work with them anytime soon, so when I heard I was going to be working with Miranda Sunday, I was pumped! haha. But yeah, I’ll stop talking about that and save it for the week it comes on. But keep that on your calendars! It’s a big day haha. Well for me anyway. But yeah I wrote an awfully lot in this blog. But it was a big weekend! Adele, the school dance, and Miranda all in 3 days. But I will post some pictures for you guys. Bye bye.

David Touring with Lesley Roy and Performing With Charise (?)

Sources have led to us to guess that David might be touring with Lesley Roy (Lesley may be opening for David?) and perhaps performing with Charice Pempengco at some point on tour!

Lesley Roy is a 21-year-old from Balbriggan, Ireland signed to the Religion Music/Jive labels. Jive describes her album, Unbeautiful, as running the gamut from “hook-saturated power pop (the breakout lead single, “I’m Gone I’m Going”) to stratosphere-climbing ballads (“Slow Goodbye,” “Thinking Out Loud”), all the while reflecting Lesley’s ability to express a lifetime’s worth of emotion with a voice that’s equally powerful at both ends of the scale.” Her voice has been described as “a cross between Avril Lavigne and Melissa Etheridge.”

Her debut album Unbeautiful was released September 30, 2008 and peaked at #5 on Billboard’s Top Heatseakers Chart. A little background from Wikipedia: “She sang vocals on the Bowling for Soup song “Much More Beautiful Person” on their album The Great Burrito Extortion Case. Her single “There’ll Be Angels” is featured in the Warner Bros. film Last Hour. It was released as a single in early 2008. Her song “I’m Gone, I’m Going” received airplay in the United States. It was the 48th most played song on Hot AC radio stations for the week ending June 24, 2008, and peaked at #61 on Billboard’s Pop 100 Airplay chart. It was featured on an episode of The Hills.

There’s little doubt the teen idol, who’s racked up several hits and done the “American Idols” tour already, will prove a draw. He has a vast fan following, and has gotten used to crazy fan encounters.

Last week near his Utah home, for instance, “I was running on an indoor track and this girls’ sports team spotted me, and they started running with me and screaming. About 20 girls,” he tells us. He tried to tune them out. “I had my headphones on.”

The fans will get to see lots more Archuleta Feb. 7 — guesting as himself on Nickelodeon’s “iCarly,” and hosting the channel’s romance-themed night with “iCarly” star Miranda Cosgrove. “That was fun,” he says of doing the episode. “I don’t usually get to do work things with kids around my age, and that was great.”

He did ask for a change in the script that has him competing on a reality show. “I was supposed to say I hated this other person, but I don’t really hate anyone. Since I was playing myself, I didn’t want people to think I’d hate somebody,” he says. “That’s really not me. So we watered it down a little bit — ‘I don’t really like that person’ — and it was fine.”

As far as whether he’d like to try acting in the future, Archuleta says, “This wasn’t really acting, but it did give me a little taste of how it would be. I was surprised by how much I liked it and how much fun I had.”

I too wanted to take a second to say welcome to Vox and Andrew!  They are funny and smart and they only had to pay me 20 bucks to say that!  Awwwww…no………………I’d have said it for $10.

We’re lucky to have them on the FOD team and it will be fun to see what insight they can give into being a male Archie.  They do exist and are only growing in numbers!  And I’ll piggyback on Jenny’s comments from this morning.  Everyone is welcome here at FOD.  If you ever have any suggestions for the site, content, David or what I should wear tomorrow, don’t ever hesitate to email us.  You don’t have to be a regular commenter, chatter or forum visitor to share your opinion and suggestions!

-6: The bullet.  This is simply the number difference between the spins the week before and the spins last week.  For this example, his bullet is said to be negative and showing a downward trend.

6.214: Audience Impression (AI).  This is an estimate of how many people heard the song in the past 7 days.  Here, 6.214 million.  This is based on how many spins the song received and where the song was played.  Playing Crush in Knoxville, TN is not going to make as big of an “impact” as playing it in Los Angeles.

So let’s look at Crush’s #’s here.  For Top 40 and Hot AC, he has negative bullets, but his rank either improved or stayed the same.  This can indicate a number of things.  During the holidays, the majority of songs take a hit as stations play holiday music, end of the  year countdowns, etc.  An overall downturn in the older songs can keep the song steady in terms of chart position.

Take a look at AC, though!  Crush is picking up steam.  “This Crush aint’ goin’”….no, I won’t.  I’ll resist…

Be sure to visit your local radio station website’s “video on demand” section.  It seems as though ALTNOY is just about everywhere.  Stream it from there once or twice per day to show some demand!

Calling all college (aged) fans!

Remember these crazy girls?

They are in college.  Yes…David makes EVERYONE do silly things.

I’ve been chatting with them via email about what David needs to do to break further into that demographic.  I’m not sure where this rates in importance for David right now, but all of these promotion, marketing and industry machinations are FASCINATING.  I went to the University of Georgia, located in Athens, GA.  It was an amazing music city.  We had huge artists come play small venues as favors to their “friends.”  I saw REM with 100 other people during the height of their popularity in the early 90’s.  I saw Dave Matthews at a 500 seat theater.  The B-52’s, Edwin McCain, Soundgarden and on and on and on…it was a great experience and even better exposure for the artist.

All of that to say….I want to hear from you, college-aged students.  I want the good, the bad and the ugly.  Does David have a hope and a prayer right now with your demographic?  Should he even try right now?  If so, what could he do to break through just a bit and gain some 20-something fans (read: fans who spend money on music)?  Give me unique ideas.  What is it like to be an Archie fan in college?  Are you in the closet or did you tell your entire dorm that you were going to the AI concert stop in Atlanta whilst wearing your homemade David Archuleta t-shirt to the dining hall?

THERE IS NO SOUND!  GRRRRRR!  I’M WORKING ON IT…

Here is Eddie, in full fanboy mode.  My favorite Eddie moment(s) involved the David pin.  It’s actually very sweet.  I just wish we could have seen their meeting…sigh.

I’ve been watching MADE for an hour now, and I have to admit, I’m a little hooked.  I’m getting sucked right into the teenage self-absorption and angst like it was 1987 all over again.

I feel for Eddie.  I want to hug him and smack him in the back of the head at the same time.  But he loves, loves, loves David Archuleta.  It’s all painfully sweet and sad and inspiring.

EDDIE!  EDDIE!  EDDIE!  The crowd chants.  Eddie turns in the general direction of the stage entrance, no emotion evident on his face.  Only his eyes betray the depths of his excitement.  “Is that for me?”  Pause.   ” Hmm.”

He dances fearlessly.

Oh, please, please, please let him meet David at the end.

UPDATE: alas, no David appearance.  We will upload a few clips of Eddie’s David door, the David promo flyer, etc.  Bummer.

Welcome Vox and Andrew

I love writing for FOD, as does Becky (and I love speaking for Becky, apparently).

But both of us felt that FOD needed a young, male voice.  All of my “warnings” and “thuds” and Becky’s “epics” and “squeeeeeees” probably don’t do much for our male readership.  I make myself roll my eyes at times.  Time for something new.

So yesterday I asked Vox and Andrew to start posting on FOD on the late night shift.  “Do you want to start tonight?” I asked, giving them approximately 5 hours of  notice.  “Sure,” they said, and I immediately loved them.

I think they did a great job!  I can’t wait to see more.  Invite your male friends, and your young friends, and your 10-year-old nieces, to join us on FOD.  Let’s celebrate diversity!  Everyone is welcome!

Promotion Story for the Day

I am LOVING this new feature!  Every day I’m going to post a story from a fan who has been promoting David Archuleta.  Please send me your stories and pictures, and I’ll give you plenty of space!

Today we had our monthly craft show. I make jewelry and sell it there. It is a hobby not a career so the only time I sell it is at the craft show we have at our park.

I purchased 5 gift certificates from itunes last night to help promote David. It is hard because this is an over 55 park that mainly likes country music. I wore my David Archuleta T shirt I purchased at the Jingle Jam and brought my gift certificates with me.

This was going to be a dual purpose event for me by golly. There were ladies that had expressed some interest in David in the past and they already know that I am CRAZY ( literally) about David. I made sure those 2 got a gift certificate. The manager of our park came out and I asked if her kids listened to pop music. She said yes and wham she got a gift certificate!!! Another lady was just so sweet, admiring my work and just chatting. She said her daughter makes jewelry too and has gotten her 13 year old grand daughter to help as her daughter has six kids and it is hard to find the time . Hmmm 6 kids, a 13 year old daughter now they need the Archuleta. When I gave her the gift certificate I told her about David the person and said we hope he will positively affect the music world by his actions and his morals. She was very touched and couldn’t wait to send the gift certificate to her grand daughter.

The last one was supposed to be for another lady, a musician that heard Crush and liked it. I loaned her my cd to listen to so I was going to gift her ” A Little Too Not Over You”. By this time I forgot I was wearing ” David ” until a lady said ” Oh he is just so cute. He should have won!” I realized she was talking about my shirt and said ” Did you know he has an album out?” She said she didn’t so I crossed off the name I had on the gift certificate ( I’ll buy more tomorrow anyway!) and I gave it to her. I explained how to download it and also told her that his album looks like the picture on the gift certificate and could be found in Walmart which includes a bonus song. She was so happy!!

It was my day to have lunch and hang out with TXlady Tricia so she met me at the show and we had lunch and went shopping. She has a teenage son to help her navigate the computer so I asked if she would come over and help me fix up my myspace. She showed me how to put David’s videos on there and I put a little blurb that says to check out his 2 singles and if they like them they can purchase his cd in stores such as Walmart that includes the bonus track ” Works for me” that David wrote.

Tomorrow I will buy more gift certificates and see who I can Archulize!!

Today’s story comes from Bryant!

Hey Jenny,  I just wanted to tell you that my local station, 92 Pro FM based out of Providence, RI basically loves David lol. When Crush debuted on Z100 on July 1, this station played Crush by 8:30 PM that night. They also started to play ALTNOY before the new year. I checked the last two days, and they have played ALTNOY 6 times both days, including Crush twice today. That’s 14 radio appearances in 48 hours! As an added bonus, they also have David’s picture flashing on their top banner on the home page!

David also did an interview with them back in November. And, sorry rambling lol, every time I’ve requested David by email, they’ve played either Crush or ALTNOY within the hour, every time. Just wanted to tell you how awesome my local station has been to David!

Hi Jenny! I was just browsing the podcasts on iTunes, and I came upon the Radio Disney Now podcast, and David is in 4 of the episodes: January 5th, December 15, November 10, and June 30. The December 15 and November 10 episodes are all David, but he doesn’t come on until 4:00 for the January 5th episode, and 2:20 for the June 30 episode. Oh, and just a tip: you don’t have to subscribe to the Radio Disney Podcast to get these four episodes if you don’t really want to listen to the JoBros or Miley Cyrus…haha.

Daily Archurandomness

A daily feature celebrating David Archuleta’s strange and delightful mix of space cadet and hyper-focused intelligence.

Today’s randomness comes from an international FOD’er named Archichichie.  Archichichie (I just like typing that) had a brainstorm for the video for Your Eyes Don’t Lie.  Archichichie was worried about her English, but I think Archichichie did a great job.

I’ll just let Archichichie tell it so you can get the full flavor.

Ok ! Get this picture – an idea-for the music video of his next possible single (for Your Eyes Don’t Lie):

· In the first scene we see David after the ENDING OF HIS MUSIC VIDEO FOR A Little Too Not Over You (btw – its on Itunes)-he thinking :”delete all pictures Yes/No”

And after that he press “No!”

· In the second scene David in a Farm (he is on vacation or something…) – look like a CUTE Cowboy/Farm Man (notice that the it’s fits to the music/melody/tune-and the whistles in the beginning !)*kind of a funny music video..

He play on a musical instrument and shaking his body a little bit…

· In other scene he look gorgeous as usual… he see the girl ( the same girl from A Little Too Not Over You music video) and start singing to her

” i know i hurt you , i know you’re hurting still, but i”l make it up to you yeah baby i will ”
and then he sings – ” i can see it in your eyes , you feel the same about us as , there is no way the truth should be disguised… your eyes don’t lie…”)

ATTENTION TO THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SONGS : A Little Too Not Over You & Your Eyes Don’t lie :

· On ALTNOY he sings: “you better of with someone else” “maybe i regret everything i said , no way to take it all back…”

· And on Your Eyes Don’t Lie he explain why i said what he said :”everyone was tellin’ me you were movin’ on with someone else” and he apologize to her : ” i know i hurt you , i know you hurting still… “

Oh well -i need to let the director decide about the continuation of this.. LOL

David will reportedly appear on an episode of MADE on MTV today at noon.  We’ll rip and post!
