I’m going to put myself out there and say that I think this song is a great fit for David. He has such a Stevie Wonder R&B groove to his voice; I can’t wait to hear the runs in “Running!” I marvel at the eclectic nature of this album: R&B, pop, pop/rock, folk/country ballad, power/rock ballad, and David ballad. I do believe David Archuleta will continue to defy all attempts at categorization. He is simply ungenreable (new word for the day).

David’s Story:
Having twice just missed being caller 106, I decided to just show up outside the KissFM station and hope something good would happen. Good things have an uncanny knack for spontaneously generating around David, so, what the heck, right? As luck would have it, the station’s music director took pity on the 4 shivering souls, including me, waiting out front in the dark without passes for the meet and greet. Just as David was starting his radio interview, dear sweet Peggie came out to tell us we should hang tight, they were working on it. Then a few minutes later, Tyler the music director throws open the door to the inner circle of Davidness and lets us into the conference room where all the pass winners were waiting. We watched the interview on a big projection screen (the audio delay meant that it looked like we were watching some poorly dubbed foreign film, but I digress). I couldn’t hear it all but the interview sounded very entertaining.
A few minutes later, in walked David in all his goofy excellence. They lined us all up on one side of the room and ran us through the picture line quickly. It wasn’t like the Tour after parties. No leisurely chatting. This rock star had places to go, people to see, and some Jive handler cracking the whip. David was gracious and appreciative as always, taking what time he could. I already had a couple of autographs, so my main objective was just to say hi and good luck, and maybe get the pro photographer in the room to take a nice picture. I was near the end of the line for a photo, which was strategic placement becaue they firmly ushered people out of the room as soon as the camera flash went off. A couple of us “veterans” knew our only chance for quality time with David was to wait our turn until the end so we could capitalize on the Archuleta habit of lingering. Unfortunately, David had other radio interviews to do by phone and a plane to catch, so he didn’t really have time to chat much, but Jeff took good care of the familiar faces in the room, chatting with us about the album until time to ride off to the next destination.
I’ve decided that starting the day with a little quality Archuleta time pretty much guarantees a positive and productive rest of the day. Oh, and a big shout out to Maria (David’sMexicanAunt) who kept me company and shared in our good fortune to get invited in without a pass — she is a delight and promises to spend more time with FOD! I’m pretty sure the tamales she made for Tyler were a big reason they let us in, haha.

All these leaked songs is making me really impatient right now but at least my ODD is fed with lots of radio interviews he is doing right now to promote his record . Anyway , I love the offical tracklist being release finally but it seems odd to me that Angels is not a bonus track and I have to run to Walmart to get the David and Daniel Bedingfield song they co-wrote together that I want on the album . So here is to hoping it was November 11th and having that album in my hand but I know it will be worth the wait .

Gonna have to post & run, but on 101.9 the mix, they just said that David Archuleta will be on in the next 30 minutes. I’m pretty sure both of these radio stations are in downtown Chicago, so it makes sense that he can do them sort of back to back.

He’s currently #13 on the MediaBase Airplay chart – he’s moved between 12-14 the last few weeks… those new releases have overtaken him in spots, but the song is a fighter, and has hung tough… just needs that extra push in airplay to rocket up… we’ll just keep making requests via the online form, and fingers crossed that his upcoming appearance on KIIS FM in LA will get them in gear to start spinning the heck outta the song… they’re the second largest market in the US behind Z100, so we need that airplay there! Keep requesting and praying ya’ll!

The MIX one was great he was very talkative and excited. They said they never saw so many people at the staion and they were there for David! Yeah!

angelbymyside -Security is going to become more of a reality for David over the next couple of months. For people outside of his fanbase, he has been “the kid from American Idol’ they probably haven’t watched a zillion videos on you tube or followed his every move. The Jingle Balls/Promos that are coming up will change all of that. He is in some pretty big company, this will expose him to “their” fans, and once they get to see David removed from AI, his life is going to become that of a Mega SuperStar! Trips to the mall or the Cheesecake Factory will require security! Before we say, “oh Poor David”, think about today, have you even seen him happier. He is in the middle of living his dream, his face, his body language, everything about today said he is happy, excited and ready for whatever is coming his way! This is something he was born to do!!

164/scott-fortunately I missed the early stuff on the first interview, they were a bit out there! David in all of his Davidness just seems to take everything in stride. Even when he doesn’t seem to get or like the direction things are going. After OHP that night, nothing surprises me anymore. That was a trip to the dark side to say the least!

Chicago Interview — I loved it when the lady called in and said that David is an INSPIRATION to her little son who has vocal cord paralysis, you can tell how touched David was with from that type of comments. That is what it is all about.

Anyway, then the woman kept trying to pursue it re: “education from being around older contestants…etc.) YOu could tell David wasn’t that comfortable with the question track and the guy jumped in to his rescue and changed topics. I thought that was really cool…like he knew better who “David is and isn’t.”

Hi! Jenny, Becky, and Gail….Thank you so much once again for the music player. I’ve enjoyed having it in a separate window playing uninterrupted “David” music as i comment and vote. kristin discovered this yesterday, and I’ve found the same little snafu that involves the song “Dream Sky High” on the music player. When you click on it, or when the song progresses to the point where it’s supposed to begin, it is unable to play the song and instead jumps ahead to “Falling”. Oh- one more question- Do you or does anyone have a suggestion about how to ask a radio station to consider having David as a guest on their show? AC/DC’s new album hit Wal-Mart stores yesterday and is reportedly blowing the doors off of the retail giant. We’re told that sales for the exclusive Black Ice release are out-pacing the Eagles’ first week, which was also a Wal-Mart exclusive.
Estimates for first week are currently ranging north of 800k, which would make it the biggest Sony BMG release in the past two years, besting Alicia Keyes’ 742k mark set last November.
It would also make Black Ice the largest rock release from any label during that time, beating the 721k sold by Coldplay last June. Will the album have enough steam to catch Lil Wayne’s 1 million debut in March? Stay tuned. (10/21p)

A friend of mine went to meet David at the San Diego radio station on Monday and she and a few other David fans had the opportunity to talk for quite awhile with the station’s program director and DJ and the PD told her how annoying some of David’s fans are being. He told them that they see IP addresses, area codes on caller ID and they are getting a lot of requests from outside the local market. He also said that he talks to other stations around the country almost daily and they are all saying the same thing. He strongly urged my friend and the other fans to get the word out that David’s fans are basically blowing it for David. He specifically mentioned that he thinks David is a nice kid but if this continues, he (and apparently these other stations) will get to the point that they won’t want to play him at all. They said they’ve done that to other artists and so it’s not something to be taken lightly.
Now, I know we’ve all been warned about this before and most of us here try to be careful, but it needs to be repeated and the word needs to spread to all corners of the David fandom. So, if you are members at other boards, would you please be so kind as to spread the word as much as possible that all requests must stay local and if you are requesting, please don’t harrass the stations. The last thing we need is to be responsible for hurting David’s career.
Okay, so now that’s out of the way, my friend also added that the PD told the group of David fans that there’s a good reason why we’re not hearing ‘Crush’ in the So. California market yet and it’s because of Jive. He basically told them that David’s label is very successful at what they do and they know what markets to release to at certain points in time. So, in a nutshell, we now we even have station PDs telling us to “trust Jive.” LOL
Thanks Karidol. This needs to be sent to the other fansites. Even when we are unhappy about the way a DJ treats David, we need to be careful how we handle it.
Andrea: I had no luck with the tickets to House of Blues in Cleveland…I got up at 5 a.m. to listen to the radio station and even dragged my headphones into work since I don’t have speakers on my computer right now…they kept teasing and teasing about the passes and finally at 9:30 a.m. said to call in…well, all I got was constant busy signals! Very disappointing. I hope you have better luck!
I am actually considering going to the football game in Dublin just as an FOD reporter, but I think Jenny said she lives nearby so maybe she will go and get us some footage. I’m sure someone will post it on youtube anyway.
I am go glad that I insisted on waiting for an autograph after the Cleveland concert…I just knew that those opportunities were going to be very difficult after his album release…(yes, I’m ledge-walking a little here)…I just wish I had gone to the meet and greet at the buses. Getting the autograph allowed me only a brief glimpse of David because I was about 4 rows back in the crowd and he was being rushed. I want to hug him, and take a picture with him, and sniff him (ha, ha) I want to talk to him and hear him laugh… I will always remember that very brief meeting of the eyes after the concert when I asked (begged) him for an autograph. Even the slightest glance from him feels like he has zeroed in on you and you alone. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but it’s spell-binding. I felt kind of foolish, like why am I getting all fan-girly over a young man who is the same age as my son? As had been stated many times though, David’s allure transcends age barriers…there is something special about him that we all have recognized and responded to, and I no longer try to understand it, I just accept it and rejoice in it.

Gimmicks and tricks are just temporary illusions and distort the actual strength of the product. Probably provide a good psychological boost if ones needed, to each its own! So proud that our David doesn’t have to resort to those tactics.

I noticed in the video of David signing that Jeff was talking to someone about the girl next to him looking about the same age as his youngest daughter who is almost 10. I bet he misses his wife and other kids like crazy of course I bet David does too. Know how it is with little girls and their daddies. #280 Gengen I have heard that before. These radio stations can do whatever they want. I know some refuse to play certain artists! We are caught between a rock and a hard place! Hate to not request it, but also have to be careful when doing so. Guess that is why I have layed low and resorted to streamlining. Hopefully after 11-11, we will be hearing David over and over and over.
Look at the Chicago station David was on this morning and they won’t play John Mayer. I think David was a bit shocked by that, as was I.

We do not want this to happen to David. IMO, I think that fans should only contact DJ’s in their local area to request David’s music and not keep pestering them on a daily basis about playing CRUSH or any of his forthcoming music. We certainly don’t want to do anything that will be detrimental to his career.

If FOD can announce on their site to get the point across to everyone, that we should be polite and stay w/in our local radio region, that would be most helpful. I cringe to think that we could be hurting David’s career!!!

Hey you know to that point David’s fanbase is so global and the internet is so global I personally think times are changing on these ideas. I mean now all the stations usually have live streaming worldwide so they will get the point soon. It is a world collective like it is the David Worldwide Collective. But I’m all for respecting the wishes of the stations so I think they need to specify like Z100 did and we all stopped immediately. We wouldn’t want to hurt David at all. Thats sad! I think we have to understand that the people on the fansites are not the only ones requesting Crush. So can you imagine the fans + new listeners+ casual listeners asking DJ’s to play Crush and they thinking that the fanbase are the ones harrasing them.

Gengen does this mean on the mediabase request forms we should stick to our local market? What if we live in one state and still have our cell phone number in another state? Like I am moving to Texas but have an Orlando cell number. As far as IP address they can only see if you are requesting over and over because we can be anywhere.

I think its a great marketing strategy. It gives David’s fans room to grow too. If they market him as “your best friend” sooner or later that can also appeal to younger guys and even college kids once David gets older. The great thing about this is that David is not being limited with a music genre or style so that can help him do things for a younger audience like appear on the TCA and also go to the Grammys or shows for an older market.
Just finished listening to the b96 interview. Awwwww he is so sweet. He is defiately getting more comfortable with these interviews. He is even handling the girlfriend question with a lot more ease. Before you could almost feel him freeze up for a second as he is shy about that stuff but now he is just relaxed and says I just don’t have time right now. Gosh I love that kid!
Lynn, He said he sang “I’ll Be”….which apparenty is not recorded anywhere…he said they only give you a few seconds, like 15 sec. or so….to show your stuff…I have actually never hear him say this before…..

I am supposed to be at Cross Country practice right now but I cloided with another runner yesterday. I continued to run practice even thought I was breathing really hard. (Generally normal for running so I didn’t even second guess that) But then I was short of breath all night and breathing really weird so I had to go to the ER
They said I am fine but no physical activity until Monday so i don’t re injure myself.. (If anyone asks sprinting upstairs to grab my laptop like the fanatic fan I am doesn’t count) So I am on FOD and eating Doritos instead.

I know we’ve seen topics already about this, but apparently the message still is not getting through, so you’ll have to bear with me.
A friend of mine went to meet David at the San Diego radio station on Monday and she and a few other David fans had the opportunity to talk for quite awhile with the station’s program director and DJ and the PD told her how annoying some of David’s fans are being. He told them that they see IP addresses, area codes on caller ID, etc., and they are getting a lot of requests from outside the local market.
He also said that he talks to other stations around the country almost daily and they are all saying the same thing. He strongly urged my friend and the other fans to get the word out that David’s fans are basically blowing it for David. He specifically mentioned that he thinks David is a nice kid but if this continues, he (and apparently these other stations) will get to the point that they won’t want to play him at all. They said they’ve done that to other artists and so it’s not something to be taken lightly.
Now, I know we’ve all been warned about this before and most of us here try to be careful, but it needs to be repeated and the word needs to spread to all corners of the David fandom. So, if you are members at other boards, would you please be so kind as to spread the word as much as possible that all requests must stay local and if you are requesting, please don’t harrass the stations. The last thing we need is to be responsible for hurting David’s career.
Okay, so now that’s out of the way, my friend also added that the PD told the group of David fans that there’s a good reason why we’re not hearing ‘Crush’ in the So. California market yet and it’s because of Jive. He basically told them that David’s label is very successful at what they do and they know what markets to release to at certain points in time. So, in a nutshell, we now we even have station PDs telling us to “trust Jive.”

TO ALL FANS OF DAVID LIVING IN WESTERN WASHINGTON:
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE A POINT OF CALLING 106.1 KISS-FM SEATTLE AND REQUESTING “CRUSH.” The first and only time the station has played the song on the Morning Show was yesterday just prior to David’s interview. Also, the show that runs from 10:00 to 3:00 with Island Girl has never played it to my knowledge, despite requests. The greatest number of spins I have counted in a single day by going to Mediabase What Was That Song Station Lookup is 5, and at least 2 of those occur overnight. Despite what everyone thinks was a great interview with this station yesterday, I’ve seen little evidence they are treating David or “Crush” with respect. Quite the contrary. (This is based on hours and hours of listening by the way.) I’m not trying to be negative here, just realistic. If all of those who attended the meet and greet with David would make a point of requesting “Crush” once a day, I’m sure his spins would increase. Doormat, the DJ who hosts from 7:00 p.m. to midnight is my favorite DJ. He’s the most likely to respond to requests, and he actually answers the phone most of the time! Tyler, the Music Director, hosts the show from 3:00 to 7:00 on weekdays, and he will usually play it once during his set if it is requested. However, I still think it would be good if the Morning Show would play it during commute time, and I’d also like to hear it played late morning/early afternoon. The more exposure/spins the better! The talk today (about David looking so happy) is really true, isn’t it? (beautifully said, Candy #155).
Many of us who are well past our teen years, and have children feel a proud and protective connection to David as if he were our own (adopted)son. We watched him grow during the American Idol season during which time we cheered for him, cried for him, feared for him, prayed for him, supported him, and in the end celebrated his achievements knowing that he had always given 110%…he had done his best! and we knew that GREAT things were in store for him!
I can’t imagine how stressful the months of competition are for any AI contestant….being taken from your home, away from family and friends, gruling sessions of practice week after week, the performances, the judges criticism, continuing with school work (in David’s case)… David was so right in referring to the AI experience as “bootcamp” for singers.
I remember the night he first performed “Shop Around”. Not only was there passion and charisma in his performance, but also sheer excitement, and pure joy in his demeanor following the song! *sigh* But the season was long and I’m sure was” wearing” on all finalists…
Just recently, I have noticed that David’s (same) unbridled joy and bubbliness is consistanly present in appearances and interviews…and as an (adpotive parent from afar), I am cheering, clapping, and quietly thanking God for taking care of this special soul! After all, if you ask any parent “what do you want most for your children?” I think most parents would answer (without hesitaion, and resoundingly) “I just want them to…. be happy; live your life right and be happy!”
-so that is what I’d tell David that I want for him…is to just be happy, the way that we see him today!

I have been checking up the comments (and the commentors’ profiles if I find the comments worthy of further investigation) left on “Crush” on Youtube on a daily basis for quite some time. It is amazing to see how many new fans he is acquiring and how fast it goes. These new fans got to know David basically from three sources: radio, VH1, referral from friends (small percentage). That makes me believe voting on VH1 and to keep him there (number 1 would be the best because that creates more buzz) is one of the most essential thing us fans should do now. As far as radio goes, I believe in national radio more than local ones (but I am not positive about this one because I have zero radio experience in the US).
Another interesting thing is more young male fans begin to show up on the comment page now. A guy who is about David’s age, plays in the school football team, is definitely not gay, says that he loves Crush. Another one says he listens to hip-hop only but he digs Crush too. This is great free market survey!!!! Somebody over Jive should monitor the comment constantly and do a profile reading asap (maybe they have already done it).

390/Suttygal – You’ve done it again. Your words have brought a tear to my eye. I so much agree with what you said. I have done my share of worrying about David just like I do for my own kids. We all feel very protective of our “adopted” son. (My daughter actually refers to David as her “other brother” and my husband cautions our 2 kids that David may take their place.) It is wonderful to see him so happy and content.

He also said that he talks to other stations around the country almost daily and they are all saying the same thing. He strongly urged my friend and the other fans to get the word out that David’s fans are basically blowing it for David. He specifically mentioned that he thinks David is a nice kid but if this continues, he (and apparently these other stations) will get to the point that they won’t want to play him at all. They said they’ve done that to other artists and so it’s not something to be taken lightly.
Now, I know we’ve all been warned about this before and most of us here try to be careful, but it needs to be repeated and the word needs to spread to all corners of the David fandom. Okay, so now that’s out of the way, my friend also added that the PD told the group of David fans that there’s a good reason why we’re not hearing ‘Crush’ in the So. California market yet and it’s because of Jive. He basically told them that David’s label is very successful at what they do and they know what markets to release to at certain points in time. So, in a nutshell, we now we even have station PDs telling us to “trust Jive.” LOL”

Hi Candy, Thanks for telling me it has a place of honor. You are so kind. Love the San Antonio river walk esp. during the holidays. You should come sometime during Fiesta week and see the three parades, day, night and river. So nice to see a float that floats.lol The best of times here in S.A. is when the Spurs win and have their own river parade to thank the thousands of fans. It is the one time that a city of millions comes together in harmony and treats each other with respect. You know like David makes us feel all the time.

I was lucky to be at the Milwaukee Pizza Party and how much fun was it to see the super cute, shy, awkward guy (with OHHH so much talent) we fell in love with growing up and into his own comfort zone (being a STAR). He was so at ease and relaxed as he made his way to each table posing and signing all kinds of things. He seemed so happy and smiling and of course that archudorable laugh we all love so much. The humbleness was still there though! I hope he never loses it. I asked him if he just crashes when he goes to bed, like fall asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow and he said he actually doesn’t. He must be so charged up from his day! I also told him I read a great story about his dad (countingdavidscharacter) and he was so sweet about it…he said something like really, it was good? It was so much fun to just sit back and watch him “work the room.” I felt so lucky to be part of such an intimate setting even if I am an older fan….just one of many of David’s “mom” fans. (I will tell you, this guy has the MOST amazing skin! It is really PERFECT!)

#348 Katheryn: I was at the meet and greet yesterday and will do my request duty starting tonight. Yeah…I didn’t get the “love for David” from the people at Kiss except for Peggi, the Promotional Assistant. Were you there? She was the the big gal who was dancing all the time…I got a real kick out of her. I just got an email from her awhile ago about the pictures with David that the studio took yesterday…here’s her reply:
“Hi Joy! I am so glad you had a good time! It sounded like you really need it. Wasn’t he the cutest thing ever?! Anyway, pictures should be up by the end of the day. We were having some computer issues yesterday. If you need anything else, please let me know! Thanks!

I know that one of the DJs really doesn’t like David at all…he’s the one who recorded David’s laugh and who was making fun of him all last week. Some of David’s fans texted and emailed him and told him he was a real jerk. LOL! The other DJs told him they were going to stuff him in the closet while David was here.
Anyway..I’ll do what I can to promote our David in the Seattle area. Hey…have you heard anything about any fans outside the building yesterday? I didn’t see a soul when the interview was over and walked outside. From what I had been reading on various David websites, I thought there’d at least be some..but not one was there at all. Where are David’s fans in the Northwest?

Candy, No I dont know which one that is. There are soo many BBQ places here it is not even funny. One of my favorites is in Fredericksburg, TX. 45 mins from here in the hill country and they sell out by 1000am but well worth the trip, plus the Germany Bakery is there too. We need to tell David to come to Texas, we will take him for BBQ to Fiesta Texas, Sea World, the River Walk, New IMAX theater (where they serve dinner in the theater) make it a real good time for him. lol Hey David if you read this there are roller coaster at both Fiesta TX and Sea World, lots or rides. Lot of shopping Malls. How about a pair of boots and a cowboy hat. lol Come on down yall. ∞♥DJA
Oh thank you, thinkofmearchie, I LOVE Melinda…she, like David, has such high standards and high moral character and quite the voice too! I’ll definitely be getting her new album. I saw her on t.v. here in Nashville not long ago and it was mentioned but I totally forgot. And yes, a David/Melinda duet would be AMAZING!

I’m glad you guys like Melinda as well. She really should have been in the top TWO that year. Well her album will release in January and she is covering lost Motown songs.
