This time with Eddie Galan. For those of you who don’t know him, he’s the man who won Billboard and American Music Awards for the production of the “High School Musical Soundtrack.” He’s also worked on the “Hannah Montana Soundtrack,” so he’s clearly a Disney man. Nevertheless, keep in mind that both albums skyrocketed to #1 on the charts and immediately went multi-platinum. The only question worth asking is whether or not David wants to move in this direction with his music.

Katie Stevens – “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson
With her wobbly take on Kelly’s smash single, Katie at least showed that she can follow some of the directions given by the judges. Yes, she finally picked a younger song, but she still didn’t make it her own. We have no hope for Katie in this competition anymore – much like the judges, we think she’s too young to know who she is as an artist. (This goes for Aaron Kelly, too. Sorry, not everyone can be Jordin Sparks or David Archuleta.) Hey, the 17-year old still has another 11 seasons where she can come back to audition — that is, if Idol isn’t canceled by then. But let’s not think of such scary possibilities.

As usual, I’m loving the site. You guys are amazing and we feel IN TOUCH…so important.
Wanted to let you know I’m shopping in the Brass Plum dept at Nord’s yesterday, when I heard those unmistakable piano chords starting…I looked up to the wall with the really BIG screen (which by the way, EVERYONE sees when they come up the elevator to the 2nd floor) it’s DAVID and the CRUSH video!!! I got so excited, for a minute there I thought I was going to have to retreat to the dressing room to calm myself but that would have been oh so slightly weird with NOTHING to try on in my hands.
It was just one of those moments.

Note all – if you preordered D’s memoir at Amazon while the release date was May 4, then you
need to find your order and Approve the new delivery date and press Update.
If you do not do that, they will eventually cancel your preorder. It happened to me with his first album.
Easy way to get to your order is go to the book page and click the link “You ordered this book on”
It will want you to sign in and take you to the order. Above your order it will have text about orders
in red that you need to update. Just follow that, and when you get to the Approve page leave
Approve checked and press the Update button.

I made a $150 donation to Plane to Haiti and currently The Wheelchair Organization is matching donations made of $75, $150, $300, etc.
Since I was able to donate $150, it was matched and we were able to donate 2 wheelchairs to Haiti, which is what is Plane to Haiti’s current goal. While I met my initial goal of $150, it would be amazing to see how many wheelchairs David’s fans could buy for the Haitian people still struggling.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! The plane has already been to Haiti and back.
We are now focusing on 2,000 wheelchairs to ship to Haiti. The Wheelchair Foundation will match every $75 donation and multiples thereof. Evening to anyone left. Maybe someone should send David that article on the hair buzz, it really says alot about how nice his hair is and then maybe he wouldn’t stress so much about growing it out. I like it how it is in the picture short on the sides and long on top. It just fits him! Sad how his hair can be an issue sometimes but I guess that’s part of the business and trying to look good. (but with David it really doesn’t take much)!!! Silly thing to bring up this late at night but loves the article.

American Idol: Michael’s Night
As the closing notes were sung tonight, it marked the beginning of the end of the
semifinals and heralded the rise of the Top 12. So, with only one more episode standing
between us, the loyal viewing public, and the reveal of this year’s finalists, I wanted to do
a recap of some things I hope we leave behind in the semifinals round. Without further ado,
here are the Top 5 Things I Don’t Need to See (or Hear) on “Idol” Ever Again:
1. Kara and Simon forgetting there’s an actual live telecast and chatting with each other while Ryan is trying to tell the audience how to call and vote. Can’t they do that at commercial?
2. Ellen comparing any contestant to the ripening progress of a banana. It’s just creepy.
3. Ellen abandoning her post and leaping across the stage to give someone a hug. Wouldn’t it be better if she just got up and clapped her hands above her head like Paula used to do?
4. Ryan Seacrest shamelessly promoting Justin Bieber. He’s asked almost every 16-year-old contestant whether Justin is their personal idol. Does Ryan get royalties if he mentions his name?
5. The following phrases: “That’s hot dawg,” “You worked it out/you did your thing,” “pitchy,” “sweetie,” and “dreadful.” It’s 2010 and I demand a new Idol vocabulary.
But back to tonight’s action, the Top 8 men battled for spots in the finals, though only a few can be considered sure things. Here’s how I ranked all 8 guys, beginning with the best and ending with the worst:

Aaron Kelly – It’s very hard to not like Aaron Kelly. He seems like a happy kid and with all those “ma’ams” and “Sirs,” he’s definitely the most polite contestant we’ve ever seen. But even though he’s channeling his inner David Archuleta, I don’t think his vocals are as good. That being said, there were points during his performance of Lonestar’s “I’m Already There” tonight that I thought were brilliant. If Aaron sticks around, and I’m pretty sure he will, he needs to focus more on songs with big, showy, power notes, and try to avoid his lower register.

‘American Idol’: Kara keeps crying, and Ellen keeps to herself on the scene at Top 8 boys night

This is all a wordy preamble to this pretty simple point: In that room, Big Mike’s “This Woman’s Worth” killed with a capital K, and that has as much to do with the sheer size and force of the man himself as the impeccable vocals of his performance. When I watched it back on TV, though, the quick editing and swooping cameras somehow neutered all that, which is, I suspect, at least partly why Idol guru extrordinaire Michael Slezak and my mother both told me they thought Big Mike was kinda cheesy. I’m not saying the new father delivered anything close to Mindy Doo’s “My Little Valentine” or D’Archie’s “Imagine”; I’m just saying that, from where I sat, Randy’s shock, Ellen’s enthusiasm, Kara’s tears, and Simon’s “best of the semi-finals” praise all made sense to me.
