David Archuleta made a special appearance on-stage last night at The Mint with Emmanuel Kiriakou, Jess Cates and David Hodges!!!!!
Jerry (JWipe) and others were there! Jerry recorded audio! YES HE DID!! There was a very strict (and expensive) video policy so he went the audio route. And we’re glad he did! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Jerry!

Gradually more and more info is coming out about “Somos el
mundo”, the new Spanish version of “We are the world”
organized by Emilio and Gloria Estefan. And it is
impressive! The list of participating artists just seems to
go on and on and on. I can’t even begin to list it here
because it would be too long, but the complete list as of
yet can be found at the link below, along with some recent
reports on the song with interviews with some of those
participating.
There are all kinds of things for which I plan to use this!
For instance, just the title could be used in Spanish I
when teaching “ser”. Simple, but authentic and moving.
Also, the interviews provide many uses of the subjunctive.
For instance, in the first video I’ve linked to, the artists
say “para que seamos unidos”, “no importa el país que sea”,
“para que se vea que la gente mexicana,
puertorriqueña, salvadoreña… podemos unirnos…”, “espero
que haya más cosas…” and many more examples. Very rich
topic as well to show the diversity of Spanish-speaking
peoples. Also, I can’t wait to see what Gloria Estefan has
done with the translation; I’m eager to compare it to the
original to see the translation choices that have been made.

Hi everyone!! Just wanted to stop by and say how much I loved Davids performance at the Mint. He is so amazing. I loved how Eman said after he is umbelievable. I think its great to get to know the guys that are writing with David. Then when he gets his first Grammy for one of these songs it will be great to see these guys up there with him. Don’t they go up there with him when they help write the song? I really think David is impressing the music industry.

Hi, FG/310, El/320 and Angel/ 323: I remember those pix. Most were used in “Life Story, David Archuleta, in His Own Words.” I bought it on Ebay. It’s pretty cool. He is a photographer’s dream subject. I remember one commenting when he did a photo shoot of him in So east Asia that he took directions well and was a pleasure to work with. The pic of him with the bongos reminds me that he’s the genie in the bottle. He seems cramped in a tiny space.hahahaha

Hi! Finally got home and listened to Crush. Whoa. Is there something in the air in LA? (besides the smog) David sounds a lot older… maybe his voice was hoarse from the plane trip and all day in the studio, but he had such a deep smoky quality and the ending… um, let’s just say, I could listen to that over and over. And probably will.
The pics of David when he was around 5 made me think…. Lupe had no idea at the time that the little boy she held in her arms would one day grow up to be a phenomenal singer.
Why does David want to learn the bachata BETTER! Must be a reason….just to know it? Upcoming video? Is he planning on going to a dance, maybe? All these ideas are floating in my head! hahaha

Angel: The more I think about it the more I believe he could have an acting career one day as well. He could be a type of renaissance man. You could see it in his music videos and on “icarly” and on “Hanna Montana.” I heard that Paul Anka was interested in having David play his role in his life story in the theatre. Shelton asked David about it during his interview and he gave the impression that he’d try anything once. I like his attitude a lot.

Hi everyone, I have been gone for a week in Boston visiting my daughter and her family. She has two little boys and they recently got Ipods (just the cheap variety). Their dad downloaded some songs that he thought they might like that were considered for kids. I heard the 5 year old singing “Love me, love me, I love how you do me.” I asked my son-in-law what song he was singing. He said he didn’t know, but that didn’t sound good. I listened to his Ipod and it was Justin Bieber’s song Love Me. Why in the world would they have a 15 year old sing a song with a line like that in it? The song is now off their Ipods, but we were all a little surprised that they would have a 15 year old sing a song like that. The little one really like that song because it is catchy and still goes around singing that line. Hopefully with it off the Ipod something else will get stuck in his head.
It was fun to catch up on all things David. He certainly manages to keep us entertained without really trying. That Crush performance was amazing.

kimk, I don’t know for sure. There could be several different studios in one building. I don’t know if they would all use the same equipment. Some places are owned by the producers and other places the producers rent out the facility for the time they use. It would be interesting to find out how that is all working. As far as the music is concerned, I have been going to the writers sites and listening to what they have been writing lately. A lot of what I have heard is R&B or soul/pop. But I don’t know how many different genres they write. I know David really doesn’t like bubble gum pop. I am so glad that he is in the writing process for nearly all of the songs he is recording. Man, this is just killing me not to know. I go back to the writers sites often and listen just wondering.

Monkmusic/287 You’re so right, David always walks the straight and narrow. I remember seeing him in a video at a radio station where they encouraged him to sing a rap song. Well, he decided to tackle it with the lyrics on the monitor in front of him. After a bit he stopped in his tracks and he simply said “I can’t sing that.” He giggled as he said it but I knew what he meant. It was a derogatory termin the lyrics and they dropped it. No questions asked. David sticks to his beliefs and that’s one of the things that I love about him.
Beth, its ok you can talk about it. I’m not that invested in it, ever since season 7. I used to pick my favorite and vote like crazy. It just hasn’t been the same. Must have something to do with an amazing young man who everyone else pals in comparison.

Hi, HeatherL and Kimk, It irritated me when people said he wasn’t expressive enough on Idol. When he sang “Shop Around” I think that was the end of that criticism. I loved the way he sang that song. He had it really goin’ and I felt it right down to my toes!!!

Kira seems to be saying almost the same thing to each contestant. Its real, you mean it when you sing, its coming from a true place. She says the same comment with a slight variation for each performer. I just think she has to come up with other things to say. I dont think Ellen is the best judge of music either.
