Remember Mike Krompass? Of course you do. Mike was David Archuleta’s lead guitarist/music director/co-writer of Zero Gravity, Altnoy, Somebody Out There/long-time tour buddy…we miss Mike!
Mike has been busy: he just finished producing David Osmond’s new album, and on March 1st (the day of the album release), there will be a one-night-only concert at the Covey Center! (David Osmond is Donny Osmond’s nephew.)

Guess who’s joining Mike Krompass in backing David Osmond? ALEX ROWE! David Archuleta’s former bass player! I miss Alex!
Also joining the boys will be Drew Streen, the drummer from David Archuleta’s last tour, and Toad (from All American Rejects) on keyboard.

I was driving in my car listening to KFWB, a local Los Angeles talk radio station this past Saturday. As the host was leading up to a commercial and introducing the next segment topic about shopping deals, I suddenly realized they were playing a clip of David’s “Shop Around”. I was mildly (and pleasantly) shocked! I had my dog in the car with me and he wondered what I was spazzing about, haha. I guess this is good timing since it’s the current season’s top 24 week and this is what David sang for his top 24!

Thanks for the great newsy post on a Monday morning!! Why oh why don’t I live in or near Utah?? I’d LOVEEEE to see Mike K. and Alex R in concert with David Osmond on the 1st!! I miss Mike and Alex! All tours have been great, but there was something very special about that tour last winter with Mike and Alex and Eli along with David!! They’re all great talented people, and I’m looking forward to hearing David O’s album! I do hope many of David’s fans go out to support David Osmond our our wonderful band friends!!

Good morning all-Today I was watching a morning show in Univision called Despierta America (Wake up America) and they showed behind the scene clips from Somos el mundo . I was all flipping out when they showed David and my kids were like mom control yourself,it is too early in the morning.lol!!!

I could see the video in Spanish but not in English. Basically they are talking about how a little can make a difference in Haiti. They talk about how Haiti will need continued support over time and that contributions are usually high at first and then go down with time. That Haiti needed help prior to the earthquake. It talks about how there were nearly 100 who took part in Somos El Mundo.

Anjelica Vale says I know there are many people who could give at least 1 dollar to help Haiti because it is something that isn’t going to be over quickly. It is a country that will have to be rebuilt but I also think a prayer doesn’t cost anything and can help. If we unite together and send our prayers and send good energy to Haiti and all the area, we can accomplish many things.

DFT,Andy Garcia is soo right when he says Haiti needed the help before the earthquake. I remember hearing Anderson Cooper say during the earthquake coverage that 90% of families there earn maybe $2 a day and that’s for a whole family! The water is another huge issue there. Many people don’t have it and when they do it isn’t purified and people can get many illnesses from drinking it. I think the Haitian people are very brave and resilient for what they’ve been through.

Now for a little clip of what you will see on March 1st on the Crisitina show. There are some who couldn’t make it because they are recording (for their own album, I assume), but were recorded seperately. You can buy this video on Itunes along with the song that for sure is the first time that this famous song that Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie created 25 years ago is translated in another language other than English.

Thanks Jenny! Hi all! I really wish I could go to David Osmond’s concert. I heard him in SLC after David A’s concert last March (was that almost a year ago?!!) David O. has a WONDERFUL voice and reminds me of “our” David by how he connects with his audience. It was so surreal being in a room with Osmond kin, since I grew up listening to them. Got my picture taken with David O. too.

MIAMI (AP) – Emilio and Gloria Estefan and other celebrities gathered to record a Spanish-language version of “We are the World” on Friday to raise money for Haiti earthquake victims.
Emilio Estefan said he was talking with Quincy Jones about the importance of the Spanish market when the idea developed.
“You know, Latinos always want to do things in a positive way, to show the world that even we come from different places, we wanted to definitely help,” he said. “I think now is the best time because people forget.”
Actor Andy Garcia was also participating and said that as soon as Estefan called him, he said he would take part.
“You wish you wouldn’t have to do a fundraiser for Haiti,” he said. “It’s going to need attention for quite some time … It’s not just a question of raising money today and everything is going to be all right.”

The song, “Somos El Mundo,” was adapted by the Estefans, who partnered with Jones, Univision and the not-for-profit We are the World Foundation to gather the artists to record the song. Univision is underwriting, co-producing and doing distribution of the song, which goes on sale in March. All of the artists volunteered.
“I just feel real good. I am not here as an artist. I am here as a human being,” said Cuban-American singer and actor Jencarlos Canela.
“I think that the world needs to realize that we cannot wait for a tragedy to happen to come together and to be united.”
Singer Chayanne said he was moved by the opportunity to work on the song.
“You do it from the bottom of your heart and you really feel great to do something like this with Emilio and Gloria,” hesaid.
Singer Milly Quezada called it a chance to reach people who had not yet been moved by the events in Haiti.
“It is a divine opportunity for us to stand together in solidarity. Obviously, this song is a beautiful song. Gloria made a beautiful translation,” Quezada said.
Singer Ednita Nazario said she was “flabbergasted” when she saw images of the quake’s aftermath on TV.
“I think you do what comes straight from your heart. Its important to keep Haiti in people’s minds and heart. This is a longterm situation because it’s not rebuilding a building, its building a whole country that needs help,” she said “The difference is that Haiti has nothing.”
David Archuleta said it was great to see how many celebrities were willing to come together for the cause.
“I love this song. It’s just great to be able to be a part of it in Spanish,” he said.
Jon Secada called it a “momentous recording.”
“As a music community to be able to have the opportunity to come together and to do something that really matters, and give something back, it’s important,” he said.

If you thought “We Are the World 25″ mania would end with the debut of the reboot, you were wrong: Quincy Jones has now teamed up with Univision Communications, Gloria Estefan, and her husband, producer Emilio Estefan, for a Spanish-language version called, of course, “Somos el Mundo.” The music video won’t see the light of day until March, when it will premiere on the Cristina show. The shoot went down on Friday, though, at the Miami Heat’s practice facility, where over 50 acts showed up and still managed to knock the whole thing out in two hours. On hand: Carlos Santana, José Feliciano, Chayanne, Luis Fonsi, David Archuleta, Jon Secada, Thalía, Tito “el Bambino,” and the Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo. Also, like the U.S. version, the song has a new rap verse, this time courtesy of Pitbull, who was too busy to actually show up for the shoot. And playing the part of Latino Dan Aykroyd/Vince Vaughn: Mr. Andy Garcia.

Latin stars record Haiti charity song

A host of Latin music stars have recorded their vocals for the Spanish-language version of ‘We Are The World’.
According to Billboard, 50 artists descended on Bongo’s restaurant in Miami to take part in the Haiti earthquake charity song ‘Somos el Mundo’.
Gloria Estefan and her producer husband Emilio arranged the recording, which includes solo lines from Estefan, José Feliciano, Chayanne, Thalía, Pitbull and Fonsi.
Further featured artists include David Archuleta, Juanes and Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas.
The video is expected to premiere on the Cristina show in early March.
Last month, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones re-made the 1985 song with artists including Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brother and Jennifer Hudson to raise funds for the Caribbean island.

Spanish Version of ‘We are the World’ recorded in Miami
MIAMI (AP) — From “We Are the World” to “Somos El Mundo.” Same thing, only in Spanish.
Andy Garcia, David Archuleta, Carlos Santana, Jose Feliciano and others recorded this Spanish version on Friday in Miami.
It was adapted from the English by Emilio and Gloria Estefan. The reason for the song is the same: to raise money for earthquake victims in Haiti.
Just like the English version, the one in Spanish was recorded in partnership with Quincy Jones. About the situation in Haiti, Andy Garcia says “it’s going to need attention for quite some time … It’s not just a question of raising money today and everything is going to be all right.”

164/ Dustpan snow shoveling will quickly become a tradition in the South if we keep getting these darn cold winters. Greetings strangers with shotguns is a well established tradition in the hills. Our motto: If we wanted company, we’d live in town.
Candy: The LDS Missionary shotgun story is one of my favorite stories! Maybe I brought the snow from Stroudsburg and Baltimore. Well worth it. The concerts were awesomeness especially because I shared it with some awesome FOD family! I don’t know how everyone survives up north with lots more snow. We have set records this year. Dustpan snow shoveling is becoming quite popular.
