It reminds me of a friend of mine who has decided to not let a good deed (or word or idea or thought) go without reaching out to say “thank you.” If you appreciate someone, let them know. If you LOVE your sister’s jeans, even though they make her look 6 sizes smaller than you, tell her anyway. That one isn’t personal. I don’t have a sister. But you know what I’m saying…

Shanny-I was on plaid overload when David wore it everyday during the summer tour but by the time the tour was over, it had grown on me…Then he brought it back for the Christmas tour, by then I was loving it!

GG, in response to your ‘coming of age’ comment on the other thread.
I know what you mean. When I used that term, I was kind of aware that in some ways it is a phrase best used for a person who is older and more experienced etc, than what David is. But I think it still conveyed what I was trying to say.
It would be nice if this next album reflects the direction David wants to go musically. But in some ways, I’m not sure if it will. For 3 reasons: 1. The need to be radio friendly etc at this still-early stage of David’s career. 2. David has wide musical tastes himself. 3. David can sing any genre he puts his vocal chords to.
No doubt he will evolve more over the course of his career anyway, just like he has already. It is a natural, normal progression.

Im so excited that our man is back to writing, I wonder how much of the actual writing process he is involved with. Is he working on lyrics or doing the vocals, Im hoping for both!

My biggest hope is that David is done going the Disney route, no more Icarly or Hannah. While they did bring added exposure, he has matured way beyond that, that was obvious when he toured with Miss DingDong this summer!

I really liked the Jordin/Chris No Air video, she looked and sounded stunning, I also liked Chris’s voice and thought he too did a great job. Did I think it was better then David/Jordin…hope you already know the answer to that.
I was checking out the pics from Manila… while David Cook is a good-looking guy, David A just pops out at you…he’s like a porcelain doll…absolutely gorgeous coloring. I remember when I first saw him up close, I literally thought…he doesn’t look real. Also, the fact that everyone else in the room seem to fade into the wallpaper, ha ha.
Candy ~ I’m with you…no more Disney! David is 19 now and needs to leave Disney in the dust. It had it’s uses, but it’s time to move on to bigger and better things.

Candy I agree. I think they seriously limit their marketing of David when they only target the tweens/teens audience.
I also dislike how commentators have called David a ‘kid’ etc. Time has passed, he has matured, people need to start realising it (and I think they are beginning to now) and I think with that they need to start realising that David has fans of all ages and backgrounds too.
But once again….if the Disney thing is what it takes to get him more exposure……then I’ll be patient. lol
19/ hi shanny in oz…. yes, i get the distinct impression jive is aiming squarely for success on chr this go around, just by looking at the songwriters they’ve had on board so far… having a song or hopefully several that can accomplish this, and do well on hac and other formats would be nice too… the first single will set the tone hopefully for a lot of great things, and i can’t wait to hear it…. for some reason, i tend to think perhaps those songs david may be penning may be more hac leaning, but it’s hard to tell w/o hearing them… it does look like jive means business this go around… with their roster of consistent and bankable cd sellers dwindling in the past year, david’s successes with crush and the debut and christmas cd appear to have him poised to receive a lot more attention from them… that’s my biggest hope, from them and his management…

41/ i’m hoping/praying to all that’s holy that the team working with and around david are firing on all cylinders, and are devoted/dedicated to helping craft as fine a cd as possible… from the label to mgmt to the studio engineers and the production team, lolol… they aren’t as rushed this go round as they were w/the first, there is more time for the songwriters to work on crafting and helping shape songs specifically for david this time… just want a well crafted and cohesively produced cd… hope that’s not asking too much, hahahah

GG – do you think David’s dad is still involved with the management? I agree that David knows what he is trying to achieve but I can also see him getting caught up in the process a little and losing the vision from time to time. It’s easy to do for anyone when you’ve got lots of ‘experts’ telling you how to do something and you’re getting bogged down in the details you forget to look at the big picture. I think if he had Jeff there, then between the two of them, they would be able to keep the vision better.

While David may be calling more of the shots, Jeff is the one person who would have his back no matter what. Hello Everyone! We’ve gotten about 7 inches of snow today in the twin cities w/varing amounts in MN. We’re getting about another 3 to 5 inches tonight into tommorrow. Wooot, fun driving, NOT. Hope its not as bad this time around for those of you getting what we’re getting snow. Sorry to have to send it to you guys.
I think whats good about this time around, the 2nd cd, is that David has said himself that he’s learned you have to stand up for yourself in this business or you get stepped on. He also said in the past that “dont mistake kindness for weekness” & that he can be very stubborn when he wants to. I think David is quite capable of handling himself with the higherups. I understand they still have the final say in alot of things, but I think David will let his voice be heard in these matters, not just musically, but speaking his mind as well.

Seems they have the same pool of writers working with each other – just different combos. Like David wrote with Matt and Lady V and now is writing with Lindy and Matt. Eman’s written with Lindy and then one group of people and then with another.I’ve never really paid this close attention to who is writing on any album before so this is probably customary, I just think it’s interesting.

Kimk, a 19 year old is a difficult age – like you said that space between man and boy. So some 19 year olds will be more boy and some will be more man. With the life experience David has had over the last couple of years and his general mature outlook, I think he is a 19 year old who fits into the man category.

Beth, I did not know David has said those things before. I’m glad that he sees things that way. It seems that he has everything going for him to make a success of these opportunities. Some people don’t learn these lessons for years it seems and at a much older age. ‘Kindness doesn’t mean weakness.’ I like that. ~smile~
58/ hi shanny in oz….. i would assume he is, along w/jared paul – though it’s unclear the extent of his involvement in the process so far… he’s in a unique position as his co manager, as this can get tricky i’m sure at times, regarding the establishment of boundaries/responsibilities, relative to the personal side of the house, as well as the business side… the personal side is sacrosant between those two, and not an area i get involved in… the business side, relative to how effective he and paul are in looking out for /securing those opportunities in david’s best career interests do get more attention… as long as they are doing those things from the mgmt side of the house that are effective in expanding and keeping david’s presence strong in the industry, and wherever else they are charged with doing so for him, i’m happy… and with the cd launch upcoming, this side of the house in going to be crucial from a promo and exposure aspect, so i’m hoping they’re getting their ducks in a row…

Candy, Yep, I stocked up yesterday on cat food, cat treats, bird seed, and Turkey Hill. I have a generator if the power goes out. It is important that anyone using a generator to also use a surge protector, especially if you use it to power your computer.
I too think Jeff is very much a part of David’s management, maybe more than we imagine. I think David relies on his Dad to help him make certain decisions and for advise.

Hey all. Hope everyone’s doing fine. Just finishing up here in my office. It may not be as bad in the bay area as the east coast but we’re getting a bit of rain. And that’s enough to cause havoc in the streets. Luckily I finished driving and visiting clients before the rain started falling.
Shanny in Oz, I am in total agreement with you. I too wish for this cd to be about David. I want to hear what is important to him and to hear the message of each song from his heart. He did say once that he likes songs with a message. I hope there is at least a few of those songs on the this cd.

The cable guy came and went…finally! What a hoot!
When he was back here working on setting up the phone, he saw my David display and said, “Somebody’s got a thing for “Little David.” You should have seen the look on his face when I first informed him that David’s not so little anymore, and then told him that I was the one with “the thing” for David. 
At first, I think he was shocked, but by the time our conversation ended, you could tell he thought it was kinda cute that someone my age would be a fan of anyone in the music business. He was genuinely impressed that I went on that 1200 mile road trip with my grandchildren just to see David. He said, “By yourselves?”

Joanie, To get an idea of how popular Turkey Hill is around here, other ice creams like Breyers, Hershey, etc. are given 1 double door space in the ice cream isle, Turkey Hill is given 2 double door spaces and some stores have 3 or 4.

Ok, last two comments before I really go…..lol…..
1. I think with so many peole all over the net saying how much they loved Jordin and David together, Jive would be crazy to not at least look into that a bit more.
2. On the Beaver’s version: Ok, I will admit it, until the other day, I had only heard of Justin Beiber’s name. Knew nothing else about him, except some vague idea about canadian idol or something?. So when I saw the clip of him singing with Jordin, I was shocked. He is just a squeak of a kid (way younger looking and obviously much less mature than David ever was on Idol) trying to keep up with the big guns. I can’t understand why he is as well known as he is. I felt a bit sad for him that so many adult expectations seemed to be put on a young kid. That’s my uneducated 2 cents worth.

And recently, Scott Borchetta, head of Swift’s label Big Machine Records, touted Taylor as the voice of a generation in defense of her highly-criticized Grammys performance. Borchetta’s coronation of Swift in that situation was particularly confusing, since it seemed to make the argument that young people don’t really care about singers being able to sing well. (Tell that to Ashlee Simpson and Cassie)
In these instances, the blame might not be on the artist themselves, but those who represent them. But still the whole paegant-like title is puzzling and vague in its criteria. What qualifies Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift as the voice of a generation? Because they have popular songs? Do the songs “Baby,” “You Belong With Me,” “One Time” and “Teardrops On My Guitar” reveal some complex, underlying truth about this generation of teens? Do these songs truly encompass the full range of ideas, thoughts and contributions of this generation?

Munkmusic well there has been a change it seems lately in the way they release music lately as a lot of artists are releasing EP’s and additional songs after a CD is already out? could be?!! hope we hear them all but we haven’t heard all of his first one so who knows? I think it may not be a good idea to release the song if it doesn’t come together well I think? ha at least that is what the music folks think? quality not quantity?
