39/ i dunno… jmo here, but i think more than 1 cover song included on the 2nd pop cd would draw some negative or uncomplimentary references to the ”karoake” label idol alums try to break away from when they leave the show… some singers are better able to get away with doing covers albums early in their career… not so sure now is the time for david to make a pop cd, ala suebo, of strictly covers… the christmas cd doesn’t really factor in, and tend to get a pass, as 99.99 percent of christmas music is older than dirt, and has been recorded for eons… don’t know which way it’s going to go, but in my head, a pop covers cd needs to something a little further down the road…

45/ he did one ”cover” on the debut – ”angels”, so i don’t think having another one will be that big a deal…. 2, 3 or more, and i’m gonna scratch my head big time, hahah… ”covers” right now – and i’m just giving my personal opinion, others will of course vary, are great in certain settings… as an alum from the world’s most hi profile ”karoake” and ”covers” show, it would be tough to brand yourself away from the ”karoake” label in the minds of a lot of goofy people in the industry who like to attach that label to idol alums… it’s another of those fine lines all idol alums must walk going into the mainstream… establishing a musical identity and style apart from idol, while keeping elements of what made you so successful on the show… gosh knows david has done fine work dismantling a lot of these kind of crazy labels idol tried to pin on him, and i just wouldn’t want to see a reversion or digression in his artistic growth… ultimately though, he has great musical taste, and i’ll trust his decisions regarding the direction he wants his music to go… i just hope it’s a while before an all covers pop cd is in the cards… would love to see a few cd’s of original music written by him, along with others really take off and solidify him in the industry…
