Comparative Video 101 is a blog which is “selected videos of and commentary about some classic folk, roots and Americana songs.” This blog is rooted in the Kingston Trio and songs they have performed, so if you see KT, it’s referring to that folk group. But this particular blog gives several different examples of Riu Riu Chiu and some history of the song. It’s REALLY cool reading and listening.
David’s Santa Rosa performance is highlighted and although the blogger isn’t an American Idol fan, he seems impressed by David’s performance.

So on Wednesday I went shopping, went over to the jeans I found a nice pair, looked around a bit, when I went up to pay for them I looked and notice the jeans were a brand called “To Be With You” I tried as hard as I could to not freak out and keep my cool. After I am outside I look on the receipt and the cashier’s name was Ashlee, I was just thinking wow, how weird I really want to share this story with my fellow Archie Fans, got home and the pants DO fit!

Beyond 15 minutes of American Idol Fame
15 of the Show’s alumni who may have careers to stay.
As American Idol enters its ninth season in January as the top rated juggernaut of Television, millions will tune in to see a new crop of young hopefuls vying for the coveted title. The show has launched the Superstar careers of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Increasingly however, contestants coming off the show are struggling to find their way from their 15 minutes of idol fame into a crowded field of pop/rock radio and idol-weary radio programmers.
As the novelty of the show gradually wears off and its power to generate record sales are cooling across the board, Idol alums are finding it more and more difficult to sustain momentum after their time in the American Idol spotlight is over. So what will it take to keep their careers going into the future? Diversification is key to extending a run on the show into a lasting career. Only a select few have achieved multi-platinum, but album sales alone cannot sustain a career over the long run. Alums must find ways to build on the popularity they gained on the show, keep old fans interested, and bring new ones in. Touring is providing the Lion’s Share of income, while Broadway is cherry picking the stage proven performers. Film and TV offers are also in the works for many. Diversification is key and these alums must work hard to maintain momentum.
Which idol alum are most likely to achieve long-term success in the entertainment industry? Here is an alphabetical list of 15 idols who may have the best chance for extended careers in entertainment.

At age 12, Archuleta entered the world of TV talent competitions, winning the junior vocals division of “Star Search 2″. After recovering from a bout of vocal chord paralysis, he took the plunge into the idol world at the tender age of 16. His pristine vocals soon won over a devoted teen audience, along with a good share of older fans as well. His self-titled debut album went Gold, and he scored a huge hit single with “Crush”. Starting out as a tour opener for Demi Lovato, he recently launched his own successful tour of mid-size theaters in support of his brisk-selling holiday album “Christmas From The Heart”. Patty – the baby’s name is Hunter, middle name William.
I had to laugh because my son and daughter-n-law didn’t tell anyone the baby’s name. But I had found a list on Yahoo a couple weeks ago of 50 most popular baby boys and girls name…so I sent the list to my son & daughter-in-law & asked if the name was on the list. I eliminated 2 names because they said he wasn’t named after anyone. Then yesterday morning…my son gave me the initials of the baby (HWR). So I went through my emails and found the baby list and Hunter was the only “H” name. He tried to tell me that wasn’t it because he didn’t want me to tell anyone until he was born. I’m like…don’t you think you can trust me? I was good and waited until the baby was born.
But what is also cute is that my son even as a young child always liked to wear camouflage clothes and used to pretend he was a robber. And the baby already has baby camouflage clothes and a camouflage baby blanket…so the name really fits.

Tina – “the Riddle” got me every concert I went too…my eyes would just fill up…such a touching/heartfelt song.

Oh, iTunes drives me crazy most of the time. I burn all my CDs through there but it really but me that it would convert all my mp3s to aac files. Darn goofy Apple format. I don’t think it does that anymore? But I save originals of all my created mp3s to a folder on my hard drive and a back up disc.
I also got this handy mpTrim program that lets me trim off the front or back of an mp3 (like if you pull the audio off an YT vid and want to get just the song) and lets you do fade in/fade out and increase/decrease the dB. Makes me feel like some kinda tech wizard! lolol

Kristian: LOL, the terminology is the most intimidating thing. It’s all 2-letter and 3-letter words that I used to have no idea what they meant. Now I spout them off like nothing. Practice makes perfect, I guess. And David has certainly given me ample reason to practice — making mp3s, making mp4s, converting .mov files, burning DVDs, and more things that I can even remember.

Hello everyone! I saw the cutest show the other night called “I get that a lot” where they had Snoop dog, Paris Hilton and Tony Hawk do regular jobs and people kept telling them they look like those stars. They would just say, “I get that a lot”. I remember David saying that he goes out by himself and people often tells him he looks like David Archueleta. He said he tells them he gets that a lot. We should write that show and tell them to have David on.

Kristian: Hmm, are you getting a netbook netbook or a laptop? Because to me, a netbook is one of those small jobbers that’s got about an 8in screen and can fit in a small bag or big purse — usually without an optical drive. Whereas a laptop would be 12in up to 17in and much more full featured.
I have a laptop, myself. It’s a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista. Although I’ve heard really good things about Windows 7. But DO NOT upgrade from Vista to 7 — do a clean install if you’re working from a computer that already has Vista. Buggy otherwise.

Yeah, a netbook is fine if you main purpose for it is surfing the web. It’s FABULOUS for that and so portable. I would not recommend it, though, if you plan on doing much video editing or processing or DVD creating. The processor will lag more than with a laptop. But it will do the job. Man, I really want one of those to take around with me. It’s a pain to haul my laptop.
My friend has a Mini and I’m sooo jealous of it.

#232 Tina: The guy who is working on my computer said that he was going to upgrade my windows. I wonder if he meant that he’s going to upgrade from my XP Home to 7? I hope that’s a good thing if he does.

Tina: If it has to be a full install, now would be the time to do it. My hard drive is pretty much empty. Have 239 GBs free.
JoyF: I just checked the Microsoft website. They don’t offer an upgrade install from XP to 7. It will have to be a Custom (Clean) install. Honestly, that’s much better. Lots of people have had issues using the upgrade option from Vista to 7. Clean install will always give you better results.
Tina: I googled it. Looks like it’s a full install so maybe he won’t be doing that as I have most of my software uploaded already. Oh well…XP has always been good to me, so no biggy.

Picked up a used computer desk today, so need to do some housecleaning tomorrow to get ready for my PC next week. I hate desks like my old one that has a shelf to pull out for you keyboard. Not enough room for my mouse.

As much time as I spend on my computer, I really needed something larger. Right now I have a bookcase sitting on top of a small computer desk..half on the desk, half on a file cabinet.
Granted…a lot of my time on the computer is David related, but I actually do use it for paying bills, paying taxes…you know..all that exciting stuff.

I am new here but I am a fan of David’s from UT. Glad to see people still care about David after all these many months. His season was the first I’ve seen and will be the last, I’m afraid. I did not watch last year’s because I wasn’t over David’s loss to that rocker guy. Glad people are still voting and going to his appearances. I really hope that his management takes him to the next level. I dream of the day when he will be recognized as an incredible artist and not just someone who makes little girls scream “I love you!”. Although I don’t post, I normally join in on the voting. So glad David is going to have time to make his next album, although i really can’t wait even six months to hear a new song from him. I hope he releases a single this summer, at least. Wouldn’t it be nice if it’s going to be a blockbuster hit just like Crush! Can’t wait.
I worked 3rd shift for many years after our youngest son was born. Hubby worked swing, I worked 3rd shift so one of us was always with the baby and older kids. Wasn’t an easy life, but we made it through. I think my health may have suffered because of the lack of proper rest back then plus my job very stressful. Didn’t help that Corey was a “late life” baby either. That took quite a toll on me but what a joy he has been to raise. Don’t regret a single day.

If not, at least I can watch him on my computer. Not the same..I know, but family comes first. Gonna have to take it one day at a time.

GG 316, I usually don’t look at the numbers when I vote. This morning I voted for David & the number didn’t change, but AL’s no. was up 1 vote right at the second I clicked. Every time I clicked refresh (a few times), AL’s no. went up, but not David’s. I got freak out. I waited & stared at it for awhile and refreshed, then DA’s no. changed a bit. hehe.
