Shorty Awards Tips and Updates!
Taryn should be a researcher. In an effort to better understand these Shorty Awards, she went digging on their site and found the rules and regulations for voting/nominating. Thanks so much Taryn!
Two important things to consider: a) you only need to vote ONCE (see bolded voting rule below) and b) nominating David in a category that might not pertain to him won’t likely help him in the categories that are pertinent to him and his career. Of course, you are free to tweet and nominate in whatever category you’d like, but concentrating on the categories that highlight who David is as an artist and person could be a better way to vote.
Also note that January is only the nominating session. Five finalists will be chosen in February.
In February, the nominees will be narrowed down to five finalists in each category. Winners will be determined by a combination of popular vote and by the members of the new Real-Time Academy of Short Form Arts & Sciences. An awards ceremony, complete with 140-character acceptance speeches, will be held in March in New York City.
How the Shorty Awards Work
The Shorty Awards are a worldwide effort to engage hundreds of thousands of Twitter users to identify the best people and organizations on Twitter.
Voting
- To vote, send a tweet like this: I nominate @TwitterUser for a Shorty Award in #category because… (add reason here). You can do this on Twitter.com, with any Twitter client, or using the voting box <http://shortyawards.com/> on our site
- You can also send shorter votes like this: #shortyawards @username #category (add quick reason here). This shorter format is helpful if you want to vote from a party, on the road, in a meeting, or on a boat
- Be as creative as you want with the reason
- A tweet that does not give a reason for the nomination will not be counted
- Vote for as many different people as you want in as many categories as you want, as often as you want
- Only one person and one category per tweet
- Voting for the same person in the same category more than once just replaces the text of your original vote
- You can vote in any of the Official Categories <http://shortyawards.com/categories> or make up a category of your own. If a new category becomes popular, it might be turned into an Official Category with an award presented at the ceremony in March

- Twitterers are welcome to campaign and encourage their friends to vote for them
- Voters must be active Twitter users prior to the start of the competition. Votes originating from new Twitter accounts or accounts used mainly for Shorty Awards voting will automatically be disqualified and will not count toward the rankings

- Votes must appear publicly. Votes from private Twitter accounts will not be counted

CFTH Archurandomness!
Oh my heck !
My neighbor that I gave David’s CFTH CD to, just called me. She’s in her early 60’s…her husband died a few years back and she then remarried….she’s always been very sweet to me and my husband and sends us a Christmas Card every year……..so the week before Christmas I took David’s CFTH CD and walked to her house and knocked on the door…but there was no answer….so I left the CD in her mail box with a little note, telling her a little bit about David and Richard…….I hadn’t heard anything about it… and I was hoping the mail lady didn’t take it thinking it was a gift for her…lol
So today my neighbor called and left a message for me to call her back…….so I just got off the phone with her
She said ‘I want to thank you for that Christmas CD…….it’s soooooo beautiful……He has such a beautiful voice’…….she goes on to tell me she was in the hospital until Christmas Eve for 15 days…..and her husband had gotten the CD from the mailbox, listened to it and took it to the hospital for her and said….
‘YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS CD!!!!!’… She listened to it, loved it and then listened to it for the remainder of time she was in the hospital
this just totally made my day…… she said David is going to have a long career with such a beautiful voice like that…..
How cool is this !! Totally just made my day..!! Up until I gave them his CD, they did not know who David was. …..David now has 2 new fans…

Hi Tina!! I just told myself that spring is just a couple of months away!! We will survive this, but boy, this cold is hard to take!! -15 below 0 right now and it only got to 2 above today!! They say we should get up to 30 by Saturday! i sure hope so….It will be 45 degrees warmer if it does!!

Tina, what happened to your car? Did you get a bunch of snow?
Lettie: Well, nothing really happened to my car except for being born as a Mustang, lol. Yeah, we got about 5 inches of snow on Sunday and it’s been BITTER cold ever since so it has not melted. And they don’t plow down my road or my driveway. So my car is still sitting in the same spot.
My dad has been picking me up in his truck every day and taking me to work. And he has needed every bit of that 4WD to get out of my driveway.
We are not equipped for snow in Arkansas! ha! Arctic air is here today and tomorrow. 30pmh winds tomorrow with -15 to 20 wind chill. But I have faith that it will warm up eventually.

Tina, I am sorry!! that wind chill stuff is awful! We are lucky we don’t have any wind…the other night we had the wind and the snow, but this awful cold came in after that!!

Yeah, they’re pretty great friends — always asking what is up with David because they know he means a lot to me.
I talked to Sylvia just for a second earlier! It was so good to “see” her, she hasn’t been on for a while. I think she was moving? Not sure if it was just to a new house or what but that takes a lot of time, I’m sure. It really was nice to meet her in SLC! She’s awesome!! Hopefully we’ll all have a chance to get together again…
Tina, if you “talk” with Sylvia again please tell her “Hi” for me! oh I hope to be able to meet up with you all again! sometimes I can’t beleive that I actually went to the concerts that I did go too!! What great memories!!
It really was almost like a dream, Lettie! I was just looking at some of my pictures from SLC tonight…great memories. It really couldn’t have been more perfect!
Tina, I saw David in boise in March…first concert ever in my life, I met Joyf there, great memories, and then i took my grandsons to see David in Denver, another great experience!! but SLC was just so much more, I can’t even explain what i came away with…just changed my life completely!!
That first night performance was very moving to me…very emotional. I’ve never experienced anything like it. And to have met sooooo many other David fans — and to have everyone welcome me wholeheartedly was such a special thing to me. I’ve never felt such a kinship with people so quickly before. It really was 3 of the most amazing days of my life; so I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about!
I guess I am going to have to ready to hit the hay! I got all of my 10 blankets ready to crawl into!! LOL It is now -22 below 0!! holy crow!! I hope my car even starts in the morning for work!

a lurker here but a big voter. I know that us non regular poster don’t have much of a say here, but for what it’s worth
I have been voting every 20 mins. on AI. I have my alarm clock set every 20 mins. but what I noticed is if I refresh the AI poll page after 20 mins. it is still red for David,so what I do is just open a new window for the AI poll and it shows green again, seems faster. back to lurking.
