Christmas from the Heart Black Friday Sale
Hey FOD -
I just thought I’d share something I found out earlier today. I was looking for black friday deals on Christmas from the Heart because I want to give quite a few out for Christmas and I found that gohastings.com has them for about $8.00 each (including shipping and tax) if you use their coupon code “black friday.” Just thought I’d share that just in case anyone was interested.

David Archuleta Vietnam- Christmas From The Heart Video Tribute
Hi FOD,
I’d like to share with you CFTH video tribute by Vietnamese Archies:
In a spirit of an early Christmas, we joined in a great CFTH Party- we chatted, had so much fun and sang JTTW to show our love to David.
In the video tribute, there are also some pictures of Vietnamese donors to RSO. Thanks to Larissa, we united to support Pathway of Hope and donated $160 to this good cause. You can see more details HERE
I’m thankful if you post our video tribute on your fan site.
It’ll be awesome if David watches it and knows he has a lot of huge fans in Vietnam.
We do hope that David will come to Vietnam some day.
(This is my first-ever video tribute. I hope you have fun watching it. )
Best regards,
Huong

It is sort of an “anticipation blog”
I’ll be writing the review tonight and I would be happy to send it in to you tomorrow morning!

‘Idol’ Archuleta’s career a lovely blur
Runner-up from Season 7 of Fox show coming Sunday to Wells Fargo Center in Santa Rosa
By BILL PINELLA
THE PRESS DEMOCRAT
David James Archuleta.
At age 10, he won a children’s division of the Utah Talent Competition.
At 11, he was performing an impromptu song in a Los Angeles hotel lobby for “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson.
At 12, he became the Junior Vocal Champion on the TV show “Star Search.”
At 17, he received 97 million votes and was the runner-up on season No. 7 of Fox’s “American Idol.”
At 18, he released his first single, “Crush,” from his debut self-titled album. As of June, it had sold 900,000 copies worldwide.
And on Sunday, exactly 28 days before his 19th birthday, Archuleta will visit Santa Rosa for the first time and perform at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts on the fifth stop of his holiday Christmas From The Heart Tour.
“The ‘American Idol’ thing seems like a lot longer ago than just a little over two years,” Archuleta said last week from Los Angeles, where he was working on his new record.
“Especially this year, it has gone by so fast,” he added. “It’s like I really can’t believe that I did all that in two years. It’s amazing how it just hasn’t stopped since July 2007 (when he auditioned for ‘Idol’ in San Diego). It has just kept on going and going and going.”
While dubbed as a holiday concert tour, Archuleta isn’t naive enough to think he can skip doing at least some of the songs that accelerated his rapid rise in an industry that can take years to master.
“Yes, I’ll do a few of those pop songs that I do,” he said. “I’m kind of known for ‘Crush,’ so you have to put that one in there. It’s always fun for me to be able to sing that song.
“But the main focus will be on the Christmas music. Since it is the beginning of the season, I want people to be able to leave that night in the Christmas spirit. Hopefully, they will.”
Halfway through his run on ‘Idol,’ judge Simon Cowell declared him as the one to beat, and after his performance on the season’s finale, Cowell said he won the night. But Archuleta only received 44 percent of the official vote and bowed to winner David Cook.
“Oh, we are very good friends and we still talk on the phone a lot,” Archuleta said of Cook. “I really love David Cook. I have been trying to see one of his shows for the longest time but it never seems to work out. After ‘Idol,’ we did get to peform together in Manila and that was so cool. I have no idea how many people were there for those concerts.”
As for “Idol” itself, Archuleta still watches, and he has some advice for runners-up like himself, Blake Lewis from Season No. 6 and Adam Lambert from last year.
“I watched it from time to time last year, but it was really hard to just find the right time,” he said. “It’s fun to watch it after you have been on it because you know all the things they are going through that the people at home never know. There is a lot of work that goes into it. But it is neat to watch and know that they are doing all this other stuff.
“But my advice to anyone who doesn’t win and wants to continue in music is to be true to yourself. Don’t try to impress people by being something else. Be who you are and show people that.
“Sometimes I just sit down and wonder how I’m going to get through all this. But you just keep going anyway. You have to enjoy it.”
He said he was sorry to see Paula Abdul go as one of the “Idol” judges, but at the same time he has high hopes for Ellen DeGeneres, who has been added.
“I hope that (Paula) does well,” he said, “but it’ll be fun having Ellen on there. She is so funny.”
And while “Idol” evolves, so does Archuleta.
“I think where I have changed in the past two years is learning how to speak up for myself,” he said. “Of course, management helps a lot. I wouldn’t know the first thing about how to set up a tour. It is amazing how many people you have working for you.
“But I’ve learned how to ask for things. To tell people I want this or that. You have to or you would get walked on. You realize that it is a business.”

Salt Lake City Recap
Hi,
Here’s my story of the two SLC concerts. I didn’t realize it was so lengthy. I’m usually a person of few words. I wanted this for my journal. If you think I should shorten it. I can do that. Thanks for all you guys do! Jeani Burgess (jeani/ut)
Nah, long is perfect. –Fran
Sometimes when you look forward to something for months, the waiting is more exciting than the actual event. That was not the case for these two wonderful nights. I’ve been to four of his concerts (one being the idol concert- watched from way afar). The idol one was the first concert I’d ever been to except for Harry Belafonte many, many years ago. It was my first introduction to music that could shake your chair and even your bones. It was quite the surprise to this old gal. I was blown away by David’s voice rising above all the screaming and just filling the venue. It was quite thrilling.
The concerts Tuesday and Wednesday were not like that. They were soul filling rather than bone shaking..I don’t know if I can even verbalize how I felt. It was a mixture of fun, excitement, and spiritual joy. Oh, my whole body just felt happy inside.. and so proud of him.
The first night I bought VIP for me and my daughter in law. We ended up on the first row. We had our arms on the stage and could have reached out and tied his shoe for him if he would have come over to our side. Jacquie just kept saying, “He’s adorable”. She’d brought her small camera, but after about 10 pictures it ran out of batteries. We used it up standing in line and in the lobby. She ran across the street to see if JB’s had some lithium batteries and ended up with a disposable one. She had a really great Canon Rebel at home, but we thought you couldn’t take pictures inside so it was left home. (They sent me with it the next day). Don’t be fooled by the no cameras allowed. That’s only for the VIP
The meet and greet was our first adventure. I felt pretty brave being by Jacquie’s side. She’s an experienced concert goer, country music lover. A talk show host is what she should be–the complete opposite of me. I did feel brave enough to talk to a few people myself. A little side note, she said this is the best she’s ever been to.
We got to hear two songs in sound check; The Riddle and Melodies of Christmas. Before he sang The Riddle he told us, in his cute way, to NOT tweet about this song. He wanted it to be a surprise. He just sat right down at the piano and played and sang. It was so professional like –Oh yeah, he is a professional.
During questions he was asked if he would sing You Raise Me Up. From David came –Er, um, I don’t know if I know the words etc, blah blah and then all of the sudden he starts singing it and Wow! I just about fell out of my seat.
That was worth the whole price of the VIP.
We trecked back to the VIP room. (This was not for the faint of legs). I was just standing there eating a pretzel and looked out into the hall and this person with a familiar face and huge smile was being excorted into the room. About this time, for me, everything started to become unreal. I felt like I was in a play or something. I don’t know how to explain it. We got in line and watched everyone else get their pictures taken and then it was our turn. Without a word, I got on one side and Jacquie on the other, me with a stupid grin on my face saying not a word, not even HI. We’re standing there, his arms around us and ours around him, smiling at the camera trying to not be all hunched over. He says, “I hope you enjoy the concert”. I finally blurt out, “I already have.” He says, “Awe thanks” . That was it. We go back the wrong way to pick up our purses. (They gave better instructions about purses and such the next night probably because of us).
They had lovely, beautiful cakes and pies and all I could gag down was a pretzel and some water. Oh and a couple of gummy bears. I can’t really tell you how he glows and all because I hardly looked at him at all.
The concert was so exquisite. There were so many surprises. You’ve all seen the videos. First row was quite the experience. I loved that there was mostly no screaming during his songs, but plently of cheering in between. It was one fabulous experience after another. Thanks to all who made videos.
The second concert day:
Alone –is not what I do well. This was a day full of stepping out of my comfort zone. I went to the brunch. I managed to smile and say a few words and watch and listen a lot. The people at my table were so nice. It was fascinating to put faces to all the names I know so well. I really enjoyed the brunch and JoyF did such a nice job at the mike. David FTexas gave us all cards. He is really so very nice. I was so glad to meet him. He’s so easy to talk to. Richard was awesome. It was fun to see his family. We had a few hours between the brunch and the VIP so I went to tour the Beehive house (Brigham Young’s house). I had my own private tour with a missionary from Wales and one from Japan. I told them all about David and showed them pictures (from Jennifer- thanks by the way). Then I went to Deseret Book and bought a card for David that says, “There is Sunshine in My Heart Today” on the front and the inside says, “It’s because of you”. They didn’t sell pens there so they directed me to Rite Aid and I made my pen purchase. I headed for the Temple Square visitors center to compose my card. Nothing like sitting right in front of the statue of Jesus to write what I wanted to. It was so peaceful and nice that I just stayed there until it was time for the VIP.
Everyone was inside when I got there so no frozen toes this time . I was more comfortable because I knew what was going to take place, but less comfortable because Jacquie wasn’t there (she wanted to be). I talked to a few people, but mostly watched–I’m better at that. Still couldn’t gag down the beautiful food.
VIP stage thing. Kendra was there to play. She is really fantastic. He asked what we wanted to hear. Mary Did You Know seemed to be the consensus. He hemmed and hawed because he hadn’t sung it for a long time. He did it anyway and we helped him with some words. David doesn’t really need words to be able to sing. Any words he picks are fine with me. That was soooo goooood. Oh yes, one other thing during all the hemming and hawing, he seemed to think he’d have to sing it acapella, then he looks like an idea popped into his head and he turned around to Kendra and said, “Do you know that one?”. She said in a cute way, that I can’t remember, yes she knew it. He was stuck and we were blessed. I think she said give me a starting note. Bah, she could have played it in any key apparently.
He sang the Chestnut song. Oh more tingles! Then back to the far away VIP room for pictures.
I still can’t tell you what he was wearing. I’ll have to look at the picture. Line again, watching all the cute little girls and uberfans smiling and reacting in different ways. After coating my hands with the hand sanitizer they had for us, and putting my purse and stuff in a better place, It was my turn. I took a deep breath, and marched right up to him (I felt like I was going to knock him over). I blurted out, ” I just have to tell you, Heavenly Father is smiling when he looks down and sees what you are doing.”
Then I hurried and stood by him, our arms around each other (just love that part). Actually arm (singular) around back, smile, try to suck in stomach, not succeeding (I’ve seen the picture). I hear this tiny whisper, “Thank you”.
It was so fast. If I did not know already what he looks like, I wouldn’t be able to describe him except that I did have to look up and he has green eyes that don’t look real. I wish I could have been more refined, but my little note was nice and refined.
The Concert #2:
I got tickets for my daughter and son in law (who I live with) on row 12. I also gave tickets on row 21 to my son in law’s brother and his beautiful daughter. They were on row 21. They all were blown away. I loved seeing their happy faces after.
Third row, center with a lovely Canon Rebel digital amazing camera in hand is an excellent way to see a concert. Those pictures will be a treasure to me forever. I’m thankful to a son who loves photography. (They should have used his camera for the VIP pictures I might add, he’s trying to make mine look better). Wow. The concert was so wonderful. Adorable glitches in different places. He just knows how to carry on and carry it off. It was so tender to see his love for his Mom. It was tangible.
The love he has for Jesus is like that — so real, sacred. He just takes you inside that special place and sits you down to feast on that LOVE.

CRUSH from Ann Arbor…. almost video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBZBNlpbURc
lovely ending
Good morning guys! Looks like David made an impression – AGAIN!
Here are some tweets I read:
Conductor said he’d love to invite David back!
The conductor told us that when David sang O Holy Night h he got chills up and down his body!
We just had a womderful conversation with the symphony conductor in the lobby of the hotel. He loves David!
Oh by the way this concert totally disproved the theory that David only has teens and women as fans. So many men there!
there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when you sang Ave Maria. I had never cried during a concert until tonight.
Overheard one woman say, “I didnt expect it to be so good” and a man say “Kid’s got a voice”.
Saw 2 guys in tears during @DavidArchie’s ‘Ave Maria’ & ‘O Holy Night’….that’s how beautiful it was.
love david with orchestra very much. audios so far…waiting for vids… finger crossed…
