Christmas from the Heart Tour Begins Tomorrow!
It’s always like this: the anticipation, the last-minute flurry of plans, the pre-concert parties and dinners…
Oh yes, David Archuleta is preparing to kick off his fall/winter “Christmas from the Heart” tour this week in Salt Lake City, where he will treat his fans to two shows that will feature a scaled-down orchestra as well as his own band.
And then on to Ann Arbor to play his only fully-orchestrated show with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra…oh joy!

By the time most of you read this, I will be on my way to SLC. This is a dream come true for me as I’m sure it is for all of you. To hear David live is always a treat, but to hear him sing Christmas hymns will be as close to heaven as we are likely to get in our life times.
For those of you going to the concerts in SLC, may I suggest that we, who have them, try to always wear our FOD buttons? It will be easier to recognize each other.
For those attending the FOD Breakfast at The Lion House, I am posting the details one last time.

When: Wednesday, November 25th at 10:00 AM – Please try to be punctual as we only have the rooms for 2 hours and we have much planned
Richard was in the chat room last night and informed us that we will not be allowed to video tape him performing because the songs he will be singing were co-written with others. I’m sure that everyone will respect his wishes.

The Conversion of a David Archuleta Eye-Roller
This story from Holly S. is a great way to start your week! Are there eye-rollers in your life? Get busy!
Last Thur. my sister and I took our annual before Christmas shopping trip to the outlet mall. It’s about an hour away and it was my turn to drive. Now, she has been one of the eye rollers about my “David” stuff. The only season of AI she has watched was #7. She was a Cook fan and always said she didn’t like to watch our David sing. It bugged her. I know, she’s out of her mind. There’s nothing better than watching David sing, well listening. Anyway, I wanted to somehow sneak in playing CFTH on our trip. She took French in high school and college so I printed out the words to Pat-a-pan and on our way home I asked her to help me learn the French words. I played the song a few times and she told me the correct pronunciations. She then said that it was a cool song so I left the cd on the rest of the way home and a few times she commented that it was a really good cd and she’d have to buy one. (Of course there was one in her mailbox the next day). I was then telling her how he was singing with the Ann Arbor symphony next Fri. and I was hoping to go, but wasn’t sure if it would work out. She then said, “I’D LOVE TO GO WITH YOU!” No way, she wants to go to a David Archuleta concert?????? Are pigs flying? Is heck freezing over? Omigosh, if she could see him live she would LOVE him!
After I dropped her off at her house that day I screamed in my car.
After some schedule rearranging and quick planning we are now going to the concert in Ann Arbor. My cousin and daughter are also going. This is my daughter’s 4th concert, but this will be the first for my sister and cousin. I am so excited to share David with them. After Friday I think my sister’s eyes will be wide open with amazement, not rolling any longer!

Well, the day has finally arrived! Months in the planning and then a flurry of last minute activity getting the FOD party together has made the time zip by.
I made my packing list, checked it twice and see that I’m down to a few mundane chores, shower then just wait for the shuttle to pick me up at 9:40 to take me to SeaTac Airport.
Saw my husband for a few brief minutes before he went to work…didn’t even say goodbye to me this morning…just snuck out the door. What’s with that?

I printed out my notes for the FOD Breakfast.. am really dreading talking to so many people at once. Hard enough when it’s one on one, but 60 faces staring at me is gonna shake me to the core.

I always get this surreal feeling on the day of travel. Hard to wrap my mind around the fact that I’ll be in SLC later today. It’s only 700 miles from Seattle, but would take all day to get there my car. Much better to fly except having to sit around in the airport waiting for departure.

Hi ABMS-We had the same nice weather at the shore, now we are back to the gloom. It was easy to get spoiled by temps in the 60’s. The snow pics are beautiful but Im just not ready for that. January would be nice, AFTER the Christmas Tour is over!

Candy ~ Yes it is gloomy here today also. The rain is expected to begin this afternoon and continue through tomorrow. I agree about the snow. It can snow as much as it wants after the Christmas tour is over.

I watched a post AMA interview with Access Hollywood, for Adam it was all about pushing the envelope, it was obvious from the interview that he feels that there is a double standard in todays industry when it comes to men, especially gay men. Guess that was his way of proving his point!
JoyF-a failure…I think not. Kids today are bombarded with this stuff 24/7 outside of their home. For many they dont see it as a bad thing, just the so called norm. As a parent you can hope you instilled in them the values to choose what is right, but the outside pressure from their friends and the media can at times out weight that, unfortunately.

I have been going to a Pulmonary Specialist at least x2 a year and I wanted to make an apt. with him, so I call them and they can’t find my chart *-* What???
So then I call the Lung Clinic at the hospital thinking I can get in there, as referred to me by my other MD and there computer shows that I have not had any tests!!! What??? My medical records have disappeared!!! What???
How can they help me if they have no records to compare my scans too??? I’m so frustrated I can’t believe it, the gal asks me do I work for some sort of secret service or something, all my records are gone!!!

The rehearsals and phone interviews do that every time.
Adam reminded me of someone from the Adam’s family(looks lol..not the performance) I think he will have very high numbers because of all his pre-orders but I think that performance hurt him and people are talking but that doesn’t mean they are going to buy in the future and his cover for the cd doesn’t help. …the more horrible things are the more people talk about them but that doesn’t mean that is a good thing.

they thing about a lot of the performances is they really are a different kind of genre a performance art – it is about the whole production – it’s not really my thing but it’s what music videos have done to the industry – it just gets me when it completely overshadows every other genre and talent and everyone acts like the artist is so amazing and gifted when it took a ton of people to put some of those performances together – much like a broadway show – which is what it really is – a big broadway production number, adam will fit in just fine, haha

203/GG-David has had three days of long phone interviews, almost non stop and rehearsals lasting late at night. Plus rehearsals/interviews again today. Thats taxing on any voice let alone one about to hit the road on a tour. He’ll be fine, he knows how to take care of himself.

Hi GG…sorry I had to vent here but couldn’t tweet my thoughts in 140 characters or less! I sat there in my living rom this morning and cried after that performance! It’s scary & sad what’s being accepted as “entertainment” …truly!

He chose to do that and he is a grown man just like we are in our choices. I can’t imagine why anyone would feel sorry for a grown man with the chance of a lifetime pushing someone’s face in their crotch etc. He knew exactly what he was doing . RCA has put so much money into him that he will eventually have to pay back and he was also on Oprah and more promo than any artist I know of. David should have had just an ounce of the promo that guy has gotten and he continues to be so arrogant……..sorry, but it just outrages me when I read people might feel sorry for him. I mean he didn’t have an album out and hasn’t paid his dues in the music world yet and he gets to perform on AMA and with the pimp spot at that and throws that opportunity away to get attention….all the while David can’t get on any of them uggggggggggggggg

Candy, I appreciate that you like Adam, but like you say he is not for everyone. That is the reason I am not convinced he will do that great. I still think he is better off in theater or maybe the big screen, just not the music biz. Although, that is the place to be now a days if you are more performer than singer. Who knows, but I agree with Mary, more role models like David are needed everywhere, not just in entertainment. That’s why I choose not to even listen or watch Adam, seen it all before in the 80″s.

i am no prude, i have a few conservative leanings, but am quite tolerant of a lot of artistic and entertainment ideals and endeavors that some people may find ”offensive”, lol… but that performance last night had no artistic merit – just shock value for the sake of selling cd’s…
adam, like nancy says, has had everything just handed to him, he has practically been made into a star by tptb, and he just went out there and blew it… just choked… and has no sense of humility, or self awareness about himself at all…
he and his fans don’t seem to understand that one can dislike him, and aspects of his personality w/o being a hater, or a homophobe – that’s what everyone who voices dissension or dislike about adam is labeled by them, lololol… i think he has talent… but there are also personality traits that are starting to surface that’s going to make his mgmt’s job very difficult… he lacks restraint, sublety, and humility, and i’m not sure if he has the time or inclination to help himself by acquiring them…
he turned in a bad, bad, performance, all artists do at some time or another, but his lack of humility and arrogance is doing more to turn people off today than anything… ”munches popcorn”

Hi everybody! I haven’t seen Adam’s performance, and I’ve read some of the buzz about it, and about some of the other performances from last night. All I can say is, this is exactly why David so appealed to us from the very beginning. No drama, no costumes with flashing lights, etc. etc. The mere presence of David on the stage is all that’s needed to capture the rapt attention of the audience. The purest form of character and performance. Stealing from Tom here, “Go David!”

Candy, I did read your comment but I read it at other places too so it wasn’t directed at you that is why I didn’t use your name. I know what you mean about he blew an opportunity that other artists would give anything to have had but I still don’t feel sorry for him. That was a well thought out performance and planned way ahead of time and he knew exactly what he was doing…it just backfired on him. When I think of our David struggling and working his behind off and hasn’t stopped since idol, well it just burns me up that someone that has done none of what David has done and had it all handed to him went out there and did something so replusive. Sorry, but that is just the way I feel. I have a hard time not saying what I think. LOL

Tom & Jeff-we did have a lot of fun in Camden, didnt we. Oh yes the infamous “Bail bondsman” photo. Camden was the beginning of so many wonderful times that I have had over the past year, seeing David was great, but meeting everyone was the icing on the cake. Yes, it was the start of something big, something that continues to this day, the fun and excitement of seeing David perform live, traveling to new and exciting places, and meeting new friends. Oh, and I’m glad to see that Camden has retained its title of Murder Capital of the US, wouldn’t want them loosing out to another equally worthy city!!
