So I was watching Glee a few nights ago, and the trailer for next week’s show mentioned the word “Crush” several times. CRUSH!
I do believe that one of the characters will be singing “Crush,” and I’m reasonably certain that it’s David’s version, although according to David’s tweets, he knows absolutely nothing about it.

Nope, FOD Won’t Post Paparazzi Pics
Nope, we won’t. Paparazzi pictures of David and Kina Grannis have surfaced, but you won’t find them here.
Paparazzi primer: Paparazzi take photos of celebrities at moments when the subjects do not expect to be photographed, such as when they shop, walk through a city, eat at a restaurant, or swim or lie on the beach. This contrasts with press photography, or photojournalism, that is undertaken at press conferences, red carpet affairs and other events where there is an expectation and desire that the subjects will be photographed.
When David is performing or meeting with fans before or after concerts, there is an expectation that he will be photographed by press and fans. When he is conducting his personal, private life, whether in the context of his career or his recreation, there is NO expectation that he will be photographed without permission, and thus, the act of photographing him becomes unethical.
Sure, the pictures with Kina weren’t a big deal, but imagine if David is trying to go on a date, or spending some much-needed time with a friend, or is not feeling well or looking his best, and a photographer is busy clicking away for the purpose of making money.
Exploitation.
Imagine you are a celebrity. You spend much of your life performing and being in the public eye. You are walking along a street with a friend and colleague, enjoying being just “normal” for a change, and a photographer snaps your picture without your permission, then sells it for money. Soon it appears all over the internet. The picture may be flattering or not; that’s not the point. The point is that everyone deserves privacy and personal space.
Of course, none of this changes the fact that paparazzi pictures WILL be taken, no question about it. David is learning to deal with that.
But they won’t circulate here.

he is in the public realm, and as such, he kind of becomes a celebrity ”magnet” or target for this kind of thing… it goes with the fame and the stardom and all the success… we can’t pick and choose the type of coverage we’d like to see him receive in the media, we can just hope that when they do cover him that is puts him in a good light, and any buzz generated is the kind that does him no harm… some may not see it that way, and that’s fine, i can respect that, but we have to learn to deal with this kind of thing, as will david, as david’s fame increases… can’t put the genie back in the bottle now….

It’s good that FOD has a stand/ policy on papparazzi photos this early on, regardless of whether we individually agree with the reasons or not. There is no debate — good or bad as long as papparazzi taken — bad.
The photos with Kina are not that bad and they’re on the sidewalk. But, God forbid, if more intrusive photos are taken in the future (David having a meal, kissing a girl, picking his nose, etc.), that’s a debacle if FOD does not have a standing policy in place.

GG…We shouldn’t be hypocrites and post papparazzi photos that show David in great light and then refuse to show photos of David not looking great. There has to be a continuity in policy. If we’re open to the good, we should be open to the bad. If we can’t follow through on this, better to be “closed” in the beginning. There is no confusion on the stance. There is no opportunity for debate. So, it’s best to set the policy as early as possible. And be sure to maintain that policy throughout, no exceptions.

i totally agree about having a site policy in place regarding the publication of photos in this vein… there may need to be a policy, a ”line of demarcation” that plainly outlines the standards for what is ”acceptable” to post, and what doesn’t meet the criteria to post, based on the policy… it will come to that eventually, because david’s fame is only going to increase, and situations like this will most likely increase, and having some consistency and clarity in what makes the front page, and what doesn’t will be better understood…
until then, i can and will respect the site for making the decision they felt best serves david… it is their call, and going forward, this issue will need to be addressed further…

I love that song…”I want to know what love is”….it’s one of my all-time favs. I would LOVE to hear David sing that song!

Oh, and for the record…I agree that paparazzi = annoying, self-serving, blood sucking pests. But I also understand that it comes with the territory. Doesn’t mean we have to help feed them though. It was kind cool though to realize that David is famous enough to attract their attention…and those pics were harmless enough. But I can understand FOD’s policy on the matter. The paparazzi as a rule don’t care whether the pics they take are flattering or embarassing…the bottom line is $$$. We as fans are free to pick and choose whether we want to view those kind of pics, but the FOD moderators have a right to draw the line at posting them on the front page.
#71 Kimk…The bad photos/ feelings arise because individuals post them on their comments. Whether that is good or bad, I will not provide an opinion. I don’t know an individual’s intention or reasoning behind their comment. And everyone’s allowed the freedom to share what they wish to share. The FOD policy, if I understand correctly, is that those photos will not be on the front page regardless of whether they are good or bad. FOD controls what is posted on the front page. But, FOD won’t delete individual comments that include these photos/ remarks.
It’s the fact that they sell the pics for money that bothers me – I agree with those that say he is a recognizable public figure and will be photographed from time to time when he may not be expecting it – but it bugs me that paparazzi make money off of his image.

what is the difference in a paparrazzi photo taken of david, and a fan photo taken of him, without his knowledge, that is then uploaded and published on web sites and blogs?
what is the difference between a photographer staking out his home, or wherever, and fans who ride by his home, pull grass from his yard, and report back to other fans, or post the info on a blog or web site?
what is the difference between a paparazzi photo of david taken on a sidewalk in la, and a fan photo taken of him, sleeping, on a plane, that gets published on blogs and web sites, and people ooh and ahhh over how cute he is…
just playing devil’s advocate here, because there is a very slippery slope we’re about to go down here, and we have to be just as mindful, and careful as the paparazzi not to invade david’s space, or privacy… we all help feed the paparazzi machine, because there is a hunger in some, a desire to know everything he is doing, every minute of the day, a desire to see every photo they can get their hands on… so none of us are exactly blameless here, in the quest for info, photos of david… we just need to be clear and consistent in what is determined appropriate photos and material for publishing… jmo….

Have to put in my two cents since I am guilty of seeing the pics at Twitter and bringing them here yesterday (as did some others) because I was actually impressed by the fact that David was being recognized as the star that we know him to be! It never dawned on me that it was wrong to do…just sharing as we usually do around here. I love David and want all good things in his life. Sorry if it was perceived any other way.

99 – I didn’t see anything wrong with you sharing the info in a comment, and I looked and more than once – I do also get FOD not posting them on the front page. I noticed that SA has not posted them either. It is probably wise to have an all encompassing policy that way they won’t get into that gray area stuff, again it really bugs me that paparazzi make money off of these images, I’m always bugged when people use others like that to make money for themselves, yes, David is a celebrity and he made a choice to be a singer and be on a reality show which brought him celebrity, but I have a problem with people making money off of his image without his permission, he works very hard and unfortunately their are many people out there making money off of HIS hard work (illegal downloading, pics like this, etc.)
A lot of people sneak cameras into shows where they are not supposed to take pics and video. Why is that any different from paparazzi? They probably don’t sell them, but it’s still against the venue or David’s wishes.

I’m guilty too…I love to see any pics of David, anytime. Didn’t even think about the “consequences.” The media is not going away, people will never stop buying trashy mags. Might as well get used to dealing with it- David can handle it. Question is: how do we as true fans react? I respect FOD and their decision to rise above but remember– trash unfortunately sells BIG– the attention on Jeff in the beginning and recently on his parents made front page AOL news. Sad, but this is the stuff that helps keep stars in the public eye. People don’t want to read about his efforts for charity– they’d much rather read about him kissing some girl in a back alley. Trust me, there are “stars” out there with semi stagnant careers who would kill to have paparazzi trail them. Crazy- but you get my point. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m saying it’s the reality. To be honest, efforts to ignore the obvious will somehow eventually lose not necessarily credibility, but authenticity over the long haul. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

FYI, the Orchestra will be rehearsing David’s music w/out David on Monday. David will be rehearsing before the concert with the Orchestra the day of the concert in Ann Arbor. That is why there is not really much of VIP, he will be flying into Detroit that morning of the concert

I see we have had some interesting discussion today. I totally agree with GG’s comments in post #83 and in particular her last paragraph.
Wasn’t there a picture of David that was making the rounds some months back showing him sleeping on an airplane? To me that picture was more a violation of his privacy than the ones taken yesterday of him standing on a street corner.

I read on Glee forums today that it is David’s Crush to be sung by the cast on an episode, no specific date given. It also listed two other songs, Endless Summer and Don’t Stand So Close To Me, for next weeks episode. After this week’s preview, I thought Crush would be on next week. Now I’m not so sure. I’ll keep checking the forums to see what they say about it, knowing that it’s not always accurate. I’m just excited for the possibility of Crush being on Glee!

This morning, I casually Tweeted that I’d be celebrating my birthday tonight. My actual birthday isn’t until November 22 — the day Adam Lambert will be stealing the show at the American Music Awards — so I was a tad confused when the mailroom called me to say I had to sign for some flowers.
“Uh, you have the wrong number,” I said.
“Are you the Jim Cantiello who sits on the 29th floor?” the mail room dude asked.
I slowly said, “Yes.”
“Well, then come downstairs and pick up your flowers.” Click.
During the elevator ride down to the lobby, I scanned through my mental Rolodex of people who would send me flowers two weeks before my birthday. “Hmm, Shakira seemed to really enjoy our interview together on Tuesday. Maybe she wanted to say thanks?” “I gave a cab driver a 40 percent tip the other day.” “Perhaps my grandparents are losing it and forgot my date of birth?”
It turns out a group of David Archuleta fans had banded together and wanted to wish me a happy early birthday by sending me flowers and a giant balloon! The card read, “You made us happy with your support of our ‘homey’ @davidarchie!”
Wow! I knew the Christmas carol segment I did was popular with his fan base, but I never imagined it would inspire such thoughtfulness! They even quoted the “Archmas” joke, writing in the card, “Last part of your Archmas gift includes an early HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!”
How sweet is that? Although the “last part” reference confused me. Would there be more on its way?
As I was writing this very blog I got another phone call. “You have a delivery from a bakery downstairs.”

After David sings the last line of OHN, there is one measure that is the tune to a very popular LDS song called “Come Follow Me”, a song children in the LDS faith learn at an early age. It refers to Christ saying “Come Follow Me”. It’s a beautiful song.

Candy, glad your dry. Yes, I heard someone say it hasn’t been that bad since Gloria. All I’ve had is just a little wind, and barely a spritz of rain, mostly just dry all day. It’s all heading down along the coast and into the Delaware bay, and missing us up here.

Hey guys!!!! So I went to Wal-mart today, and I saw David’s CFTH on the bottom shelf of their “display” thingie! And I couldn’t move it, cause there were employees standing right by me! And there were only like 4 cds. Anyway, I grabbed one to buy, cause I plan on giving that to my dad for Christmas. After walking around a little bit more, I decided to see if they had David’s debut album. It was behind other cds and you couldn’t even see it. So I moved them to the front.
Then I turn around and behind me was another Christmas display!! And it had 2 sections of David’s CFTH on the top shelf! 
I counted and there were 10 cds! Yay!!! I just thought that was awesome! My Wal-mart no longer fails at life! 
At least for now! haha!!!
Oh and I bought another copy of his first album, and I plan on giving that to my dad as well.
Whether we look at the paparazzi pictures or not………they are still going to take them and the bigger David gets the more they will follow him or try to spot him. I loved the pictures and I enjoyed looking at them. He looked really good. In reality there is nothing we can do about them following David. To me it shows they consider him a pretty big star and they know people are interested in him. It happens and it comes with the reality of being in the business. If they are there I am going to look.

Awesome Joy…I went to my walmart a couple of days ago and they had 15 of his CFTH and I found 2 of his original and moved them from behind other cds. I moved his CFTH to the top so people could see it really good.
