Tribute to a Loved One
Pastel (Mary Lou) has been an enormous part of our FOD family from the very beginning. Her presence as a chat mod and front page contributor has always been greatly appreciated by all of us. She has been like an aunt to me, so it pains me to hear that she has lost someone so dear to her. We love you Pastel, and we will always be here for you. –Fran
Pastel is one of those people who is just a calm light in a chaotic room. She is classy, funny, smart, witty, generous and loving. I know all of you who know Pastel will take a second to send her your prayers and thoughts. Much love to her and her family at this difficult time. –Becky
As many of you are already aware, it’s with a heavy heart that I want to let you know about the passing of my best friend of over 2 decades, my husband Lawrence. Lawrence and I met in a university library when we were younger and brighter and full of anticipation of our lives ahead. Marriage and two children later, I think we were living what is traditionally known as a charmed life in the big city. Reality hit us between the eyes when my very fit and otherwise healthy husband was diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 45. What was described as a 95% chance of no recurrence, turned into a 6 year ongoing battle of cancer and more cancer. He fought long, he fought hard and he fought for his family. We are sad and brokenhearted to lose him, but we have been enriched and changed forever by our newfound understanding of what is really important in this world, and what bravery and fearlessness actually looks like.
Last week, in his declining state of health, we sat together in the palliative care unit of a wonderful hospital listening to Christmas From the Heart which always calmed Lawrence down. CFTH was left behind for the next soldier to occupy the room.
I don’t pretend to be the only one here that faces life challenges like this, but I wanted to tell you that I find this home created by Richard, and lovingly supported by Becky, Jenny, Fran, Gail and others a safe place to share these thoughts. This is where my e-family started! So I thought I should let all of you know. Hello everyone! The first Christmas From The Heart concert is almost here! As you all know, the first two concerts will be in Salt Lake City, Utah!!! In less than three weeks, I will be attending these two concerts and would love to meet all those who will be attending! I have talked to many of you who would love to have a little gathering/reunion! I am not aware of any plans that have been made.
In order to have a gathering/reunion, we need to get started right away. First things first, we need to know how many are interested in attending. If you would like to attend, please email me at foddavidg@gmail.com so we can have a head count.
Please let me know which Salt Lake City concerts you will be attending and what day and time is best for you to attend the gathering/reunion. We will be trying our best to make this happen.
As of now, JoyF, Lettie, Tina, LizardJ, and I are on the list to help out. We will need everyone’s help! If you can help or have any ideas, please let me/us know! I am very excited to be attending these concerts and to meet you all!

David Archuleta Helps Launch Lisa Lopes Medical Center
October 30, 2009
David Archuleta and Angels For A Cause (AFAC) will partner with the Lisa Lopes Foundation (LLF) to help raise $10,000 to launch the new medical center in Honduras.
The Lisa Lopes Foundation medical center will serve thousands of families and children living in impoverished areas of Honduras, with health conditions among the worst in the Western Hemisphere. Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America.
An estimated 1.5 million Hondurans were without access to health care in 2008. With the highest Aids rate in Central America, the quality and access to health care are directly tied to income levels. Health care for the urban and rural poor is extremely limited.
The Lisa Lopes Foundation medical center – named after the late TLC singer Lisa Lopes – will provide free health services, establish an ongoing rotation of dental and medical brigades that will provide on-site services, ensure that the center is prepared with the basics in dental and medical supplies and provide a comfortable working environment for Medical and Dental Brigades or anyone servicing the area and staying at the center.

SLC VIP tix for someone special
Snarkies is gifting a VIP tix to the first show in SLC on 11/24. We need your help in finding that person. They must have their own transportation to SLC, provide their own lodging and be at least 18 or able to make arrangements with someone attending the VIP to chaperone them.
We would really love this VIP to go to someone who loves David, who supports David, and is inspired by David. Someone who has maybe never met him before, or has only said ‘hey’ in passing. Someone who without a VIP gift, they would not be able to meet David, or maybe not even attend the concert. If you know someone who fits these categories, let us know! Shoot us an e-mail! Tell us a little bit about the person you are nominating. Why do they deserve it? What makes their love for David so big?

David Archuleta performed at Trump’s Taj Mahal resort in Atlantic City over the weekend and there’s a huge collection of great videos on YouTube but I had to pick his performance of “Your Eyes Don’t Lie” to share. David gets better and better on stage every time I see him and it’s hard to believe he is that same timid kid who we saw on American Idol.

hello everyone. did you guys know they’re dong 150 ppl at the SLC vips? that’s a heck of a lot of ppl and the lady i talked to said they’re both almost sold out. the other shows are 100 ppl if they’re sold out. the smallest is beaver creek co but she didn’t say how many ppl. i was trying to get enough money to make the second slc vip but don’t know if that will happen by monday. i’ve met david a few times already so it’s not a tragedy if we don’t make it.

blue, if you are lurking, in Atlantic City, although they said there were 97 at the VIP, we counted 12 tables with 10 to a table with no empty seats. Looks like we had 120 and it made things SO rushed but in SLC David isnt opening for someone, it’s HIS show, Im sure that will make a difference.

Candy,well….my day yesterday consisted of 4 plumbers tracking through my house for SEVEN hours fixing the problem. That included one plumber ending up in the ER having three stitches in his hand because he cut it on one of his tools…left blood everywhere. The plumbing “issue” is fixed *knock on wood*. The mess the flood made is cleaned up. I am exhausted. But, now I am coming down with something, dang it!
Oh..Joanie: I decided I’m going to pay the extra baggage fee so I can bring my cast iron underclothes..just in case you sneak up behind me.

Thanks to all of you for your warm wishes and hugs. I felt each and every one and it felt good! And I needed them! It’s a hard time for our family right now but my kids inherited the bravery gene and we will be fine. I miss all of you and hope to spend more time here soon!
Candy, It breaks your heart to hear of a loss like this. I lost my brother in 78 & my Grandpa 3 years later to cancer. It makes you appreciate all of those close to you & those who work so tirelessly to cure this disease. Its great to have your family & friends to help us through times like this, but whats also great is having the FOD family here to help too! Its nice to have a place where you can come & share your feelings with people who care & are part of a website run by thoughtful, caring people to support one of the most caring, thoughtful, loving people ever put on this planet. It really is a comfort & a blessing.

Hey CandyWandy, Well, I forgot to mention that I had a Doctor appt yesterday which included a tetnus shot. Freud was kind enough to accompany me & I found out he was due for his shot, so he got one too! Well, I must report that this chicken was a big scaredy cat when he got his shot,lol. So he’s having trouble lifting his right wing. You know how your arm gets stiff & sore after a tetnus shot. Its kind of funny though, when he tries to fly, he can only go to the left so he keeps going in circles,lol. His wing will feel better in a couple of days though. So then I offered to take him to a movie to reward him for getting his shot, he said no because he was afraid to go anywhere with me after he got his shot. We may experience a few more typo’s the next couple of days, altho hi knos betr than two mes wif mi posts, thts fer sore.

Now, I can’t help but do post at this moment because I wanted to express that I am saddened for what had happened to the love and better half of Pastel. Pastel, please accept by deepest condolence. My prayers are with you and your family. I can’t forget seeing you and talking to you last March 3rd 2009 at David’s concert in Williamsville, Buffalo. You were so warm and welcoming and friendly and kind. You gave us, Joe G (hey Joe where are you now?),me and our group with some snacks when we were in the queue quivering in extreme cold waiting for the doors to open. I guess, they’re some of the best characters of David’s fans, they are so friendly and kind. Aren’t we? And listening to David’s songs will ease up some sorrows, it is so true to me.

SLC VIP tix for someone special
Snarkies is gifting a VIP tix to the first show in SLC on 11/24. We need your help in finding that person. They must have their own transportation to SLC, provide their own lodging and be at least 18 or able to make arrangements with someone attending the VIP to chaperone them.
We would really love this VIP to go to someone who loves David, who supports David, and is inspired by David. Someone who has maybe never met him before, or has only said ‘hey’ in passing. Someone who without a VIP gift, they would not be able to meet David, or maybe not even attend the concert. If you know someone who fits these categories, let us know! Shoot us an e-mail! Tell us a little bit about the person you are nominating. Why do they deserve it? What makes their love for David so big?

David Archuleta performed at Trump’s Taj Mahal resort in Atlantic City over the weekend and there’s a huge collection of great videos on YouTube but I had to pick his performance of “Your Eyes Don’t Lie” to share. David gets better and better on stage every time I see him and it’s hard to believe he is that same timid kid who we saw on American Idol.
