David Archuleta Helps Launch Lisa Lopes Medical Center
October 30, 2009
David Archuleta and Angels For A Cause (AFAC) will partner with the Lisa Lopes Foundation (LLF) to help raise $10,000 to launch the new medical center in Honduras.
The Lisa Lopes Foundation medical center will serve thousands of families and children living in impoverished areas of Honduras, with health conditions among the worst in the Western Hemisphere. Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America.
An estimated 1.5 million Hondurans were without access to health care in 2008. With the highest Aids rate in Central America, the quality and access to health care are directly tied to income levels. Health care for the urban and rural poor is extremely limited.
The Lisa Lopes Foundation medical center – named after the late TLC singer Lisa Lopes – will provide free health services, establish an ongoing rotation of dental and medical brigades that will provide on-site services, ensure that the center is prepared with the basics in dental and medical supplies and provide a comfortable working environment for Medical and Dental Brigades or anyone servicing the area and staying at the center.

Love the Halloween and concert videos! So many talented people here.
My son just bought me “Photoshop” and I’ve been playing around with it, but it’s a bit over my head and will take me awhile to figure out how to work with it. Maybe by the time next Halloween gets here I’ll be able to create a costume for David too.
Good morning! Writing this on my adorable new notebook computer in my hotel room in AC! Getting ready to meet up with MJG, LLALaurie, abms, Joy, Candy, Tom…and more, I can’t remember right now, since I am jet-lagged! LOL I wish all of you were here! It should be around 70 degrees today at the shore, and coming from Utah and 29 degrees, that feels like a heat wave to me!
Candy opicked me up from the airport at five-ish last evening, showed me around her hometown, we had a lovely dinner and…then I crashed!! So far it’s great! I have a view of the bay, the casinos and a billboard that advertises “LANDSHARK LAGER…..LET THE FIN BEGIN”! How Funny that is right across from our hotel!! LOL

Opener David Archuleta’s winsome voice worked well on his opening song, the piano-driven pop of “Touch My Hand,” and the grand “Don’t Let Go.” In general, the American Idol runner-up fared better with the steady palette of romantic ’80s-pop styles with modern R&B-influenced beats, rather than the stylistic ranges that “Idol” makes contestants cover.
Nice touches included the a cappella ending of “My Hands,” with backing vocals from his band, as well as a vocal-and-piano-only cover of “Apologize,” his trademark “Idol” song. It got a little slow before the dance thumper “Zero Gravity” came along. And of course, the closer was the arena ballad “Crush.”
The show was a makeup date for a Lovato concert originally scheduled for August. Dunk general manager Lawrence Lepore said before the show that the postponement may have helped ticket sales. He estimated the attendance at 6,000, and said that other dates on the tour had averaged around 4,500.

Hi all! I have to catch up on housework today…all day.
But I made my rounds last night to all the stores stocking CFTH, and I think it’d be a good idea for ppl to keep checking their stores maybe once a week. A few WalMarts are now displaying their holiday CDs prominently. But all other stores had them on the bottom shelves, on the backside of displays where no one looks, hiding behind Neil Diamond…just a mess.

~Back again…”Somebody Out There”…oh my goodness…such emotion! While watching this video, I reminded myself of what sets David apart from other artists…it’s how he takes us along with him to wherever he goes when he sings…so we feel what he’s feeling…and he sure does that in last night’s performance of SOT!…I was in tears from practically the first note! Hey! A Question! I tried to go through ticketmaster to purchase a ticket for a concert just to see what I could get, to get an idea if they’re close to being sold out. I entered info, entered the words they ask for & then it says response will be less than a minute, but the circle thing just keeps going around like its refreshing every few seconds & it doesnt stop. Does that mean there is a problem with Ticketmaster or that there arent any tickets available?

154/ not baffling at all – dylan is dylan… a legend of long standing, with a fanbase that has been with him for decades… they are quite used to his voice i guess, hahaha… dylan seems to have a slight edge over david in the online downloads in places like amazon, etc, but david still has a slight edge on itunes… folks aren’t buying dylan’s album to hear great singing perse… when you’re a legend, your name alone will be enough to move units….

Beth well they must have let her off because the pilot didn’t want to hear her mouth (the way I recall it we were on a delayed flight until 2 am when I was 6 and I lost my mind on that plane (2 hours in terminal 6 hour delay 3 hour flight 2 hour ride home)

kimk, They couldnt hold the plane 2 hours for just her, can they. If I was one of those on the plane
I would be quite upset if that were the case. I still have to get treats for the trick or treaters. I gave
out small bottles of pop last year & the kids loved it, so thats what I’m going to go get here pretty soon.
kimk, Thats a thought. A Private plane. No one should have to wait that long though,
unless its the weather. I just keep thinking about those stories of people who had to
