One of the fun things I learned about the “American Idol” star during our Christmas carol extravaganza is that he is ceaselessly curious. When he wasn’t stopping to look at every single bulletin board or framed poster hanging on MTV’s walls, he would turn the tables and casually interview me. “Know any good New York City restaurants? What music are you listening to these days? What kind of bird do you have?” (Long story.)

-Over a million families are in desperate need of health care in Honduras-
Atlanta, GA – (October 27, 2009) David Archuleta and Angels For A Cause (AFAC) partner with the Lisa Lopes Foundation (LLF) to help raise $10,000 to launch the new medical center in Honduras.
The Lisa Lopes Foundation medical center will serve thousands of families and children living in impoverished areas of Honduras , with health conditions among the worst in the Western Hemisphere . Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America .
An estimated 1.5 million Hondurans were without access to health care in 2008. With the highest Aids rate in Central America , the quality and access to health care are directly tied to income levels. Health care for the urban and rural poor is extremely limited.
The Lisa Lopes Foundation medical center will provide free health services, establish an ongoing rotation of dental and medical brigades that will provide on-site services, ensure that the center is prepared with the basics in dental and medical supplies and provide a comfortable working environment for Medical and Dental Brigades or anyone servicing the area and staying at the center.

Who else got 15 cavities watching the Women’s Conf vids? Our David is the sweetest, most admirable almost 19 yo in existence on this planet. Praying in his room about Idol, visiting widows, talking himself outta bed to exercise, asking himself how he can be of service to someone today????? SERIOUSLY? Just when I think he is human, he pulls this magic outta his hat. He is a shining example of humility, service, and love. I dare anyone to watch that speech and not fall head over heels in love with this young man. I have never been more proud of him.

146/ i think adam wants the young, edgy, ”hollywood cool kid” kind of fan… fans who don’t and won’t blink twice at a cover like this, the lady gaga kind of crowd… i guess there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s a huge gamble, because it can alienate a large segment of those fans he picked up from the show, and some casual fans who may be turned off by the kind of ”declaration” he appears to be making here – with the ok from his label… remember they have to sign off on this, and there has been lots of thought put into the decision to go with this cover… they apparently have a plan, and it’s going to be interesting to see if it works…

I’m just lurking a little bit tonight, but had to comment on a couple of things. First, the Adam cover. I thought it was a woman at first. I know he’s pushing the envelope to gain publicity, to make himself the big story in music, the IT thing. This is all a mega advertising strategy to hit while the iron is hot. That’s fine for him, his choice to run his career the way he wants too, no problem. I just wanted to point out that while David has done appearances performing, signing autographs, radio & tv interviews & such, he doesnt to anything like that for shock value, to be the IT thing. He just wants to sing. To sing & help people through music or any other way he can think of. He adores music, its that simple. He is constantly promoting other singers/performers more than anyone else I’ve ever seen, because he loves music. He doesnt have to be the TOP dog, despite being the TOP dog in talent & character. He’s not setting out to do that. He has talent, humility, heart & yes, flaws. I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, he doesn’t hold himself in higher regard than anyone else, he just tries to do his best day in & day out. He loves his family, he loves his friends, he loves his fans. Oh & He loves music, he loves music, he loves music, just in case you all didnt know that,lol.
169/hi trudy…. if – and that’s a big if – he hits it right, he will fill a void in the music scene, a la lady gaga… there is currently no male counterpart to her kind of glammy, kitschy electronica pop, so i think that is what rca and 19e are envisioning for him… there really has been no one since david bowie to fill that bill, so if their gamble pays off, and it connects with the audience they’re aiming for, he’s gonna be good to go….

David landed safely in NH…I can now let myself get excited for Atlantic City this weekend. I think I convinced myself that Demi would cancel out at the last minute again and the concert would be called off. I am jumping for joy that I will be seeing David in 5 days.

I never was a big fan of Bowie way back when. To be honest, I really didnt know much about him. I love his song Let’s Dance. One of my alltime favorite Christmas songs is his duet with Bing Crosby. Talk about an odd pairing, but it was brilliant. I dont judge a book by its cover, thats not fair, plus, you never know what you would be missing by doing that. But I’m not into guys wearing a ton of makeup & going crazy on stage. Whats funny is, I knew & loved alot of songs by the group Queen, but I had no idea who they were until some special on VH1,lol. Not that they’re total glam rockers, but they really rocked it. In my opinion, Freddie Mercury was one of the best singers of all time. He had something that I dont see with Adam as far as the voice goes. When Adam screems, theres not the same depth or richness as when Freddie sang or even Paul McCartney in some of his songs. Like when he really whales on Hey Jude. I wont judge Adam by his cover, but I will to some extent his character. When I like a celeb, its the whole person, not just they’re talent. Sorry, didnt mean to be so wordy tonight, I’ll shut up now,lol.

GG I agree. I dont mean they have to be perfect or anything. But there is a limit. If they do something I find disgusting or treating others in a disrespectful or degrading way, among other things, I will not support them. I will listen to a song because I like or love it. I’ve never been to an opera, but I’ve seen Pavaroti sing on TV & loved it. I’ve heard country songs I love, rock, blues, soul, even 2 rap songs. Thats one area I havent been able to handle, except for a couple songs I like, both by Wil Smith, thats it. Its all about the song.

It’s interesting to read everyone’s different take on Adam’s album cover and for the most part people think it’s controversial. The funny thing is when I first looked at it I thought it was creepy, but on a second look I don’t understand what the buzz will be, because I don’t see controversial, edgy or even artistic, to me it just looks cheesy.
I grew up listening to Bowie and was lucky to see him in concert and I pray that comparisons don’t continue, because Bowie was the real thing.

Hubby’s and my 37th anniversary is next week so been thinking about what to do. His work hours are so screwed up that it’s hard to plan anything but maybe we can at least go out to dinner.

Um…we eat a lot of bison in Utah. They are farm raised, and the meat is very tender and lean. It’s quite good! I’m just surprised David hasn’t had any before this.

Hey Candy…we have juice bars all over town…there’s one across the street from Murray High, in fact…and they have all sorts of things you can have added to your fruit smoothie. Extra protein, extra vitamin c, wheat grass, well, just a whole long list of add-ins! I guess I’m the only one who didn’t thnk it was strange when he mentioned wheat grass. They measure the add-ins as a shot. LOL No fruit smoothie bars outside of Utah?

Nevr tried wheat grass though, but I have seen it a lot in Jamba juice, and other fruit smothie places. It looks a little like creme de menthe

Mmm Well, I have never cooked bison myself, but I have eaten bison burgerts,roasts, barbeque,etc. in restaurants and every year one of the churches near here has a fundraiser where the boys scouts sell tickets to a buffalo barbeque. Joanie – Our first layover was about 10 minutes. The second about 40 minutes. Not enough time for anything, dang it. I loved flying into SLC. I could see the venue and our hotel from the plane window. I pointed it out to my husband. I said, “look honey, there’s the sign that had David’s picture on it. And the green roofed buildings were right by our hotel”. Great memories. Laughed myself silly that night.

Too bad Jive doesn’t put a lot of attention to David’s career as they do for Lambert. David needs a lot of
promotion as in photo shoots, talk shows and visible advertisement for his concerts to make his name more well known. Lambert has no choice but to flaunt his sexuality being that it’s already known. He is a dark character. I’ll just stay focused on David.
