QUILT TO BENEFIT RISING STAR OUTREACH
INSPIRED BY DAVID ARCHULETA
During the seventh season of American Idol, people across the world came to know and love the beautiful voice and talent of 18 year old vocal artist David Archuleta. For the past year, Archuleta has traveled across the United States, into Canada, and overseas to Malaysia, Singapore, the UK, and the Philippines sharing his voice and music with his rapidly growing fan base.
When not performing on stage, David uses his voice and spirit for another purpose. He works diligently to raise awareness and encourage participation in charities to benefit others. David’s inspirational message and giving spirit, have propelled many into positive action in support of his targeted charities. The organization “Angels For A Cause,” composed of David Archuleta fans works cooperatively or in teams to achieve designated goals.
One of David’s identified charities, RISING STAR OUTREACH (RSO), works to improve the lives of individuals affected with leprosy in India. Funding is currently being sought to build and furnish a new school for the children in the leper colony. Fueled by desire for RSO to reach its goal, a team of “Angels For A Cause” members called “Hearts & Hands” have worked to create something very unique and special.
With contributions of supplies, embroidery, and construction efforts from team members nationwide, a “David inspired” quilted throw and pillow have been lovingly created. The two pieces include hand embroidered “fan chosen David Archuleta phrases” and were both autographed by David himself on August 8th, 2009. At this time, he expressed great appreciation for the efforts being made to benefit RSO. Both items titled “Gifts From The Heart,” will be auctioned and will also include the (soon to be released) David Archuleta Christmas album “CHRISTMAS FROM THE HEART”(currently available by preorder on Amazon.com).
Bids for the items can be placed separately on e-bay.com from October 1st at 12midnight ET through October 10th with the auction ending on October 10th, 2009 at 12 midnight ET.
ALL proceeds to benefit RSO.

IT STARTED WITH DAVID:
I can hardly put into words what David has meant to me and how he has inspired me. I wish I was a better writer. But, I’ll do my best to tell my story. Let me start by saying that I don’t want to sound like I’m sharing my sob story. I have so many blessings. I have the most wonderful husband that anyone could ever ask for, and I’m very close to my parents and siblings. We’re all healthy and have everything we need. What more can a person want?
However, I have been searching my whole life……searching for meaning….searching for purpose…searching for a place to belong….searching for friends. I have never shared this with anyone outside my immediate family, and I’m embarrassed to share it now. But, I’m going to take the risk and let myself be vulnerable. I have always been a little lonely. I have never really had many friends, though I’ve tried and tried. I guess I just don’t really fit in. There is just something different about me. I truly don’t know what it is, but people don’t usually seem to like me very much. I don’t really relate to them and apparently they don’t relate to me.
David has begun to fill the void of my loneliness. I can relate to him like no other person I have ever met. I completely understand his kindness, his desire to always do what is right, his innocence, his shyness, his awkwardness, his desire to help those who are suffering, and his belief in God. I have always wanted friends, and David has led me to a group of people from all over the world with similar hearts. Though I don’t know many of them well, I feel a connection to them. I hope some of them might become the friends I’ve never really had.
I have also always wanted to make a difference in the world. I want my life to mean something. My attempts in the past have never been very fulfilling. Again David has “Saved the Day.” He led me to Rising Star Outreach. He asked for our help, and there is NO WAY I can let him down after all he has done for me. I have been doing everything I know how to do to raise awareness and raise money for RSO. It is also my goal to go to India and help in the Leprosy colonies within the next two years. I know that it will be a life changing experience and that my life will finally have really been a life that matters….a life that changes other lives….a life that existed for a reason. I am so thankful that God has used David to reach me and give me a worthy purpose.
I hope that others who are reading my story will also do what they can to help Rising Star Outreach. It will mean so much to David and especially mean so much to those that are suffering in the leprosy colonies. Please do what you can.

So GUESS WHAT we sang in church today? Guess, just guess. Did you guess “America The Beautiful”? ‘Cause that’s what it was, guys. AMERICA THE FREAKIN’ BEAUTIFUL. And I got to sing it, guys!! With my whole church. And I was all bubbling up with happiness and when I saw that we were going to sing it and jumped my mom knew why. She’s a fangirl now. I’m so proud. I love her. She walked out of her bedroom wearing her I Love David Archuleta shirt yesterday. You should have seen the look on my dad’s face…. nevermind. But “America The Beautiful”. This has to be some good omen or something. I can’t wait for tonight, guys! He’s gonna be amazing!!!!!!!

David Archuleta opened the US Open women’s final with a soaring rendition of America the Beautiful, joined by the United States Marine Corps Six Communications Batallion Brooklyn, New York.
As usual, David Archuleta’s vocals were spot on, as his interpretation had a quasi-pop, soulful, R&B vibe to it. The accompaniment was simple piano chords. The harmony was a bit classical (like a Protestant hymn) but also a bit gospel.
The most appealing aspect of David Archuleta’s voice is that it suits pop, classical, and R&B equally well.
David Archuleta’s flag was the perfect complement to the Marine Corps’ opening of the American flag. David Archuleta and the Marine Corps were a fitting beginning to a tremendous US Open final match between Kim Clijsters and Caroline Wozniacki.

WOW! David’s performance of “America the Beautiful” was so amazing. I’ve watched and listened many times since last night.
My heart is filled to the brim with love and pride for our David this morning. Every time I watch the video of his singing ATB, tears stream down my cheeks. I feel so fortunate to have been one of those who saw the potential in David during AI7 and I’m so happy with the direction he is taking in his career. I have been witness to so many proud moments on this journey, but last night was one of the top 5 for sure.
David was so handsome in that outfit and his hair was perfect. Hooray for his new sylist!

my boyfriend said the same thing last night.. he always wonders how such a small guy can just ”blow”, or really sing like that, and his voice just fill up spaces as large as indoor and outdoor venues…. david has a voice so versatile it conforms and adapts beautifully to whatever venue he’s performing in… there is something about watching him stand in the middle of a huge arena, and just engulf it with that voice… sublime, majestic, soulfully stirring – a stage fit for a crown prince.

Just my opinion….I think preppy is a great look for David. He’s nearly 19 and although he looks mighty fine in a pair of jeans and t-shirt, this kind of outfit makes him appear more mature. His persona is one of wholesomeness and the preppy look goes hand in hand with that persona. I hope to see him in more clothes like this.
BTW: I get goosebumps every time I hear the crowd roar for David when his name is announced at the end of the video. So many people are just now discovering our young man. I think he’s going to be huge…hopefully not in a Miley kind of huge, but in a Josh Groban or Celine kind of huge. Filling stadiums such as the one he performed in last night is going to become the norm for David someday..I just know it.

Kind of like science for the business folks. Equal reaction applies… when you show me what you have not only will support you but treat you like the king all your fans know you are. right or wrong but it seems that David is a very smart young man who knows you have to bring it first. Not the other way around for those who think give me all the accolades first then I will show you what I have (or maybe not in some cases) …smart very smart.

David Archuleta opened the US Open women’s final with a soaring rendition of America the Beautiful, joined by the United States Marine Corps Six Communications Batallion Brooklyn, New York.
As usual, David Archuleta’s vocals were spot on, as his interpretation had a quasi-pop, soulful, R&B vibe to it. The accompaniment was simple piano chords. The harmony was a bit classical (like a Protestant hymn) but also a bit gospel.
The most appealing aspect of David Archuleta’s voice is that it suits pop, classical, and R&B equally well.
David Archuleta’s flag was the perfect complement to the Marine Corps’ opening of the American flag. David Archuleta and the Marine Corps were a fitting beginning to a tremendous US Open final match between Kim Clijsters and Caroline Wozniacki.

I just want everyone to love him, if it’s possible.
My niece 14 yrs. doesn’t understand me . She said DA was OK, but she doesn’t listen to his songs (sad face). I think she just listens to whatever her friends do. I gifted her DA’s album, she said thank you, but never downloaded it.
I started to watch Disney & Nick.. channel sometimes, just to check them out. These shows are full of young kids & funny. They’re on TV everyday. All the young actors & actresses are all group together like close friends (I can’t think of English word now). Miley, Demi & Selena, Jonas’ Zac & others……have a lot of shows, music, appearances etc together. What I mean is, it is very hard for David that is one single artist, to get a lot of attention from young kids or fans because they’re too busy with ones who are on these shows.
It’s also hard for DA to get a lot of interests from adult groups because he looks young.
GG, I have to take the time to watch the videos & pictures & read all the buzzz & make the comments, hehe.

Ta, what gets me is I meet so many parents who want their children to be “well behaved, smart, and have good morals” however, they don’t care for David’s personality and his good morals and values! Duh, then I don’t understand! You want those qualities for your children but you don’t want them in an artist you follow!!!! That’s purely selfish! I raised my son to love an artist not only for the music but for their personality AND I am so proud of how he turned out! The secret to raising good children is to model good ways, behaviors, and interests!

So true LCT. Many kids today love artists like Kanye,Eminem,etc. because they think they’re so “cool”. I do know some teens that love David though too. My niece is 14 and she loves a variety of music from people like Ne-Yo,Kanye,Boys Like Girls,Sara B.,and David. One thing she always says is that she doesn’t “see or hear” from David anymore. She’s busy with school and alot of sports so she doesn’t go online alot and therefore isn’t aware of anything new with him until I tell her. She thinks he’s great though.

Awesome! David and Lupe will be at the Almas. Did I miss a tweet or something? Or was it written somewhere?
It makse me remember David’s story about when he was in the Honduras and was unable to finish singing a song,
and his mom stood in and finished the song. I’d love for them to sing together one day. Lupe has a beautiful voice.
There’s something about a son expressing love for his mama that is so wonderful!

was a slip because he immediately corrected himself and said Mom. It’s such an endearing. and personal title, and shows the close bond he
has with Lupe. I love it when my kids call me Mama but that isn’t often. Usually it’s just Mom. I hate it when they call me
“Mother.”
