for those interested, here’s the link to the station in colorado that broadcasts the teen show from new zealand on sunday nights, where reports of ”zero gravity” being played have come… i don’t know what time the sunday night broadcast begins, but will try to find out and relay that info after i’m back from church this afternoon… i plan to tune in to tonight’s broadcast to get a feel for how the show works, and how, if any, requesting is done for it….

Lettie oh you haven’t flown yet? I do understand and oh Scott never flew either and guess who he flew to see for his first flight! Ha I think it was for Utah too and it was snowy. This airport is in Anchorage, Alaska and is 41 miles from the center of Palmer, AK.
I had heard that it ws pretty expensive to fly to Alaska…I haven’t checked anywhere though!

My son just went to Anchorage and he loved it! Proposed to his girl on a whaling cruise.
He said it was strange because when he went it was basically light all day long and folks were roaming the streets at 2 am! But he loved it! Ha he was hiking with his girl and ran into a Grizzly bear on the trail and had to start jumping up and down to scare it away! He said the folks up there don’t go hiking without guns to protect themselves but he didn’t have one and it was just the two of them. Moral of the story…. stay at the fair!

PattiNC, haha, no scarves. But I have a confession. I have Jennifer Barry’s calendar, how can you not buy everything David, especially when charity is involved, and I hid it the other day when a friend of mine dropped in on his motorcycle, HA! And then my kermits, that had always ridden in my antique car, but now sport BAB shirts, we were at a show a couple weeks ago, and another friend saw my car, I wasn’t around, and he mentioned it to the these other friends, and they called me to give me grief. It’s all very funny, but I tell them, that’s right we do anything and everything to support our boy! No shame!

Lettie Yes he did and he also saw these two otters playing in the bay and he turned to his girl and said I want to be like that with you for the rest of our lives and got on his knees…
They went a little more up north where they saw the bear and salmon in the streams jumping and camped at the edge of a glacier. He said it makes crackling noises as it is continously moving. I have pics and maybe I can find a few of Anchorage and such to post this week for David’s concert.

Stephanie Yes that is the one who just got married in Greece. He loves to travel! Oh I will be going to beautiful Santa Barbara CA on October 13 for his USA ceremony! One reason I can’t go to AC too. But I am hoping they take me to LA too as I loved Rodeo Drive and Hollywood Blvd is a hoot and my fav is the Griffith Observatory where they have a beautiful planetarium and a telescope where you can look at the stars! Looking forward to it! I would move to Santa Barbara if I could afford it! Oh all my boys are at Yosemite right now camping too! wow I went online and that is well one absolutely beautiful place!

except for the Bear encounter that must of been scary. It reminded me of a time, my hubby and I went camping in a remote are in the UP before we got married. Only 12 campsites, Bears visited our campsite during the night, their was growling and clawing of the tree right outside our tent. We were scared to death, stuck in our tents. In the am we woke up and saw the after math that we lived through. Scary, but what an adventure

I sister in law got married in Colorado, her wedding was on a dude ranch. Bears visited the ranch because they could smell the food. Mother and her cubs were running through the range. Quite a scene you wouldn’t normally see at a wedding. That’s one experience I will never forget either
I wasn’t expecting them to come down that far with all those people, horses and all. When we went on the trails we had to be on gurard all the time. When there hungry they get desperate I guess. If ever you get a chance, I suggest going to a dude ranch as a family vacation or whale watching. Both amazing experiences I will never forget.

my grandpa for some reason really really really wants me to go to Alaska so maybe…. you know just to make him happy I should go and it can “just happen” to be the same time as the state fair!

Pam yes my daughter-in-law told him she didn’t want to hike alone but well he talked her into it. ha guys but it could have turned out bad as the bear went up on its hind legs and all that. but really they suggest you either have a guide that carries some type of defense or carry one yourself. but they absolutely loved Alaska. I know David will too. gosh to really be young again huh. but hmm seems what are we all doing here as to perhaps some of us ha like me still live vicariously through the eyes of youth? oh and what beautiful eyes. so enjoy my time here and al the wonderful adventures and folks. ha did certainly want to live one this weekend for sure but planning to try again in the future just need dates!!! hugs and have the best day!

pam05, My stepson lived on a ranch in way northern Wyoming and he had bears in his yard all the time, he had to keep his dogs locked up and never nknew when they would be around his shop or anything, it was pretty scary!! it was beautiful there, but was always looking over your shoulder wondering what all the noises was!!

46 kimk sounds like a funny story I guess she must have really know he loved her after that trip he saved her from a bear AND proposed to her in one trip he is smooth! Stephanie Oh they couldn’t get legally married in Greece because of time constraints so we are having a big doo in CA too and I get to go this time! They are not only adventurous they are so much fun too! I think my son has been to every place on earth except I think Antarctica? He was even planning to try to do Mt. Everest but not sure as he blew out his knee. but wouldn’t put it past him. Have a wonderful day!
Ha they even traveled the Amazon jungle where they said it was crazy as critters can get into places where you don’t want them to be and he had to cut it out of him and he ate bugs and monkees just sit on your head and well basically he enjoys telling me all these stories as I go ewwwww!!! but there have been times when I was really scared too. The youngens love to travel now these days and to be honest I am getting to the point that is what I want to do too!

The way I do it is to right click on a photo then click on save as…. and put it into one of my files. Then in my email I hit the attachment (paperclip) and go look for the photo I want and double click it. It should then be attached to your email. I sent one of the black and white Matt Clayton photos to People along with a few fan photos. I think it would help if we all sent in several photos. I hope that helps.

Hi Joanie. I’m doing fine. It was easier taking my daughter back this year than last, but I still did shed a few tears when we said goodbye. It’s going to be quiet around here again (and clean). My son stayed at school this summer so I won’t have to say goodbye to him. They both love being at school so that makes me feel great!

i’m taking nothing for granted, hahahah…. there is gonna be stiff competition for those holiday cd dollars… you have cd’s by mega artists that are being released at or around the same time as david’s, to take advantage of the holiday… you have the normal glut of holiday album releases, and re-releases by folks like groban and mariah carey who are vying for huge sales at xmas time… we are in a lousy economy, which is also going to be a factor in some folks discretionary spending at xmas…
so… with those variables, the key for jive, and the marketing team is to have massive and well timed/placed promo for david’s album – on the net, in print, in stores, on television, radio, and live appearances.. his cd needs to stand apart from the pack, and create the impression in potential consumers minds that this t h e christmas album to buy this season… promo and marketing, imo, are going to be the determining factors regarding meeting and/or exceeding jive’s estimate… it will be a great thing to keep our eyes on, and i plan to do just that
Here’s the thing with David’s Christmas CD: Many people (mainly adults) who would not consider purchasing a pop-oriented album, WILL consider buying a holiday one. I’m hopeful David will attract first-time buyers.

Its like I can tolerate how empty I feel if I know that David is doing exactly what he wants and is having a happy time.
Well, I’m going to be kind of transparent here. For those who don’t really know me (which is everyone, I think), my mind thinks pretty much in black and white. And when a trust has been broken, it takes a long time ~if ever~ for the trust to be rebuilt. Hello Everyone! I’m going to throw my 2 cents in about the Christmas album. First of all, didnt Richard say that he & David have been thinking/working on this album for the last 4 years. I think Jive has done a little research into the interest in David doing a Christmas cd. I dont think they would do it just out of the kindess of their hearts. Plus, what tv show wouldnt want David on to sing Christmas music. Even those who voted for Cook or anyone else other than David on AI, they did agree that David had a great voice, but pop isnt there thing. Plus, David is reportedly singing a song in spanish & french, which will sell more to those who speak those languages. I have told people about Davids Christmas album & they have written it down on their calenders to buy it. I think there is alot of people who will buy Davids Christmas album that didnt buy his pop album. Azsoff has to step up & do their job. Arent they suppose to be a big time deal mgmt co? Well, its time that they & Jive step up & do their jobs to promote David. I do think though, that this album is going to be a very big success. I just have that feeling. Sorry, I have so many thoughts on this & I’m not being to successful at explaining them. To much on my mind, so please excuse this, not so great comment,lol.

Suttygal hi and my son has a travel site I think? not sure but hmm another great one was when he visited India and was trying to see the the Dalai Lama but he is in exile and was not able to visit but he did study with a spiritual leader in a remote village for a while and they lived in mud huts and his job in the village was to travel up a hillside to retrieve water for the village everyday with a pole type thing with buckets on either end? Most of the young stronger males have left and in return they would share whatever they had their food and lodging etc? By the way you would never turn down most of it as it was sort of an insult and basically he lived like something out of a national geographic magazine shoot for about a month. To this day he is able to do the most unusual yoga moves and I think one of the things he also took up was Sitar playing while there? Kind of reminded me of the time back when the Beatles were trying to find themselves? My new daughter-in-law is half Indian and he felt the need to experience what he could? He did say one thing in the larger cities class differences ended up having the lower classes being treated very poorly which he did not enjoy at all. ha I am rambling sorry.

The life span of a Christmas CD is alot shorter than a regular CD that he can promote throughout the year touring. So rather than sitting around worrying about it – it makes me feel like I’m doing something! I’m also make cute little book markers to give out at my parent orientation next week with this information. And I’ve got a couple of more ideas I’m thinking about doing, too!

Beth, I wholeheartedly agree that David’s album would do well with other nationalities and ages, however we are just a small entity and it will all be up to Jive to promote the album! We know what happened with the first album – but thanks to the fans and the tour, we were able to support David! David deserves so much more – he is so talented!
I think 250,000 units for a new artists Christmas cd is great! Would I like to see it hit, gold/platinum, you bet! If David lucks out and is able to get some decent promo, sales may exceed that number, but it would need a Oprah shot in the arm to do that. With a 2nd cd due out in the spring, I would think that is where Jive will sink their money for promo, radio spins, etc. They would get more bang for their buck then. And in the end that is what this is all about for them.

Just guessing though. But if the Christmas CD comes out smashing bet they will jump jump jump to help it along!

I think some people a few days ago, sorry no names to give credit at the moment, had some great ideas on how to promote Davids cd while doing good for others. I believe some of them were to gift the cd to local hospitals, nursing homes, churches, schools, Senior living facilities, Assisted Living Facilities. Last year I found cd players for $10 at Target, so I taped one of Davids Cds to the cd player & put in the Holiday Toy Drive at work. I did 3 of those, plus 1 extra cd I threw in. I’m hoping they have that cd player again this year, so I can attach the Christmas cd to it & contribute them to the toy drive again this year. How about gifting it to stores like Macy’s, Walmart, Target, JC Penny, The Gap, all the popular stores. Maybe Azsoff/Jive should do that & have the cd at these stores to buy. But have the music playing throughout the stores.

i think they’re aiming somewhere in the middle saleswise, based on whatever research and sales projections they have at their disposal… no way of knowing what data points they used to make that projection, but i don’t feel it’s unreasonable for david, and everything after 250k sold should be gravy, extra profit for them and david perhaps, and a checkmark in the column for his ability to be a commercially viable recording artist… that is the credibility he’ll need to acquire the longer he stays in the business…
A lot of people go on Oprah and hit it big. A lot do not. A S7 idol was on Oprah and I don’t remember the song he sang getting big sales #s the next week. The same thing can happen with appearances on AI. I’m getting very tired of Oprah, Oprah, Oprah. Sorry.

s7s, I understand you guys know that Jive isnt making the cd out of the goodness of their hearts, but I would think it wouldnt be difficult to get him on all of the talk shows this holiday season & I dont think that costs Jive/Azsoff much except for Davids traveling expenses. So, I think thats alot of cheap, but incredibly effective advertising. Like someone here said “nobody sells David like David does”. I think one show that will be really important to appear on, is the new Jay Leno show that will be on in primetime. I think that show will be a big hit & they need to get him on there. Plus, appearing on Oprah would be a big boost. Plus, isnt there already talk that this maybe in the works??

Jana-My guess would be maybe 10-15 cities for the Christmas Tour, and that is a high number. Major cites where he can sell out and cover expenses. He has a new baby coming out in Spring that needs to have all the promo they can muster/afford.
253/ that is ultimately what it boils down to.. if the product is good, then it makes all the advertising and promo easier.. you can spend tons of money to market and promote something, but if people don’t like it, or don’t want to buy it – they won’t… the quality of the xmas album is mega important, producing and showcasing david’s vocals and song interpretations to their fullest… give the consumers something of great quality, backed by good promo, and odds are in your favor for success… no guarantees mind you, but your odds do increase in your favor….

I think the winter tour will be short. Maybe from Nov 15th to Dec. 20th. Just guessing but most Christmas specials end after Christmas and families spend Christmas together so I would think it would end a few days before Christmas. Maybe thats what he meant by smaller and ofcourse the smaller more ” intimate ” venues. Just hoping for seated venues!!! The great thing about a Christmas cd is it is a great gift for everyone! Alot of my friends are older and not into pop music although they liked David on AI. Those people would love his Christmas cd!!

290/ goes to show it’s not all about pure talent for some – what appeals to you and me in an artist may not appeal to others…. the best singers, or those we perceive to be, aren’t always the ones that get the bulk of attention, or acclaim, or what we think are their just rewards… exhibit a american idol…… those that have what it takes to hang in there, and build up pockets of support via fans, or in the industry, these are the ones who remain viable… this business is all about m o n e y.. those that can generate it in sufficient quantity, by any means necessary it seems, get lots of attention from the public, and the labels…. david has what i think it takes to outlast many of these ”flavor of the months”.. and even he has to prove to be commercially viable for jive, or any large label in the long run…. and i think he’s well on his way to doing just that…

Burkey/316 – that’s the site I’m talking about. You have to register multiple usernames & passwords using a legitmate email address. Because once you “register” a new account, an email is sent and you have to verify by clicking on the link in an email.
Make sure you logout from the first time you voted and clear cookies. Then create new account, get verified, and you should be able to vote again with new account. It tells me I can only vote 5 times a day.

I have no idea what David’s Christmas cd is going to be like, but I was hoping for more than 1 original song on there. But from what I have read there is only 1 song that is a new song. The rest are traditional songs etc. which there is nothing wrong with but would have loved to have seen some new ones written just for David on it. Also, my thoughts on Jive is I think they have been pitiful in the promotion of David and his music since Crush. I think about what happened when he went on Z100 and sang Crush and then VH1 with Crush…it exploded. And I feel people were really warming up to David and he was getting very popular….then after Crush nothing!!!!! I am not saying he isn’t popular but I am talking about people loved hearing him on the radio. It makes me sick everytime I turn the radio on and hear some of that trash and there David is with a cd full of great songs and ZG etc. Jive has done nothing with any of it. They put money where they want to…. I think it is sad sad sad that fans can promote and get a song that Jive wasn’t willing to do on the radio for play. ZG would have never been on RD if we had not worked our behinds off to get it there……I can’t understand it. I bet there are record co. waiting in line to snatch up David and promote him….Jive needs to step it up for David. He deserves better than this. Just want to take a minute to share my feelings about the Christmas album..we should all hang on to our hearts because David is going to reach in and grab each one…it won’t require original songs…he will take the beautiful traditional songs that we have loved over the years and put his unique stamp on them. This album will be EPIC…the only word that could possibly describe how great it will be!

Guy, i just want to say that it is not just Jive who promotes his album. His management should show that they are doing something for him. Then, we would understand David receives deserving cares. I personally think the promo has stopped due to issues on his dad, and they are waiting for appropriate time to start the promo again. David is doing so well alone and if you are a believer, please remember him in your prayer. My family will laugh if they know that I pray for each of them as well as David. lol.

Joanie, I was scheduled off yesterday of course so I still took the day off and did some things around the house that needed some attention. I didn’t think I would have been very productive at work.

I spent some time today with my son and his wife who are expecting their first child in Dec. My goodness baby items are expensive…and it seems parents want “designer rooms”. It’s really funny the stuff they are telling parents now – my daughter -in-law told me you aren’t supposed to use blankets on a baby when they are sleeping? I’m like what???? are you kidding??? she was totally serious…I did everything I could think of not to laugh. I said your baby is being born in the winter…she said they have special warm sleepers for babies now…I’m like okayyyyyy. My son said…don’t worry mom…we’ll just be spending a lot on heat this winter. Crazy.
