All Dressed Up
That was David Archuleta earlier this morning at the Manila Philippines Temple. He went in at around 7:00 this morning to perform duties as part of his being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He didn’t stay for long as he left the said place at around 8:30 that morning also.
The young superstar’s visit to the Philippines is not just a hit among teenage girls but also to the members of the church to which he is affiliated with. Whether Archuleta will attend Sunday services this weekend is still a big question.

From time to time we like to post things that may interest David, while not necessarily about David. Here’s one of those things.
Jennette is just one of my favorite people; a genuine, truly kind spirit. I met her when interviewing her for FOD last year on a video chat. She’s met David several times and David is excited that Jennette has released her first single (So Close) and is getting ready to release another one (Homeless Heart) in a few days. It’s a gorgeous song–you will love it!
Anyway, Jennette has twice now sung a song in one take with her producer Ty and posted it on YouTube. A few days ago she posted James Taylor’s “You’ve Got a Friend.” Take a listen! (She has 49,000 views and 1,626 comments already, LOL!)

Andrea Sneaks a Kiss and Beats David in Arm-Wrestling
Ya, you heard me. Andrea met David in Cleveland and snuck in a kiss. On camera. LOL!
I got a chance to meet him on my birthday ( April 16, 2009) at the IX Center in Cleveland, Ohio. It was a meet and greet, so instead of the typical chat, I gave him a gag gift first, which he opened and it was a CD of himself. His reaction was “priceless.” Then I told him it was a mistake and handed him the real gift, a CD of Keith Green, which happens to be my all time favorite. Anyway, then I ask him for a friendly arm wrestle ( which I believe I won) gave him a hug and snuck a kiss on the side…he sure took it all well and he is a lot of fun.
So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

MANILA, Philippines – Other than singing, no other dream has ever occupied American Idol Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta.
“I don’t really have any other dream,” he said during an interview aired over Magic 89.9’s radio show Friday.
According to the 18-year-old singer-songwriter, he would probably even settle for a small-time career just so he would get to practice his music.
“If it weren’t an international career, it [would] probably [be] at least a domestic career,” he said.
And despite his acting stints on Nickelodeon’s iCarly and Disney’s Hannah Montana, Archuleta said that he’s probably not made for acting either.
“Before until recently I thought I couldn’t act, I’d say I’m a terrible actor,” he said jokingly.
He said, however, that the quick appearances were “a lot of fun.”
“But for now, I’m definitely interested in mainstream music,” he was quick to add.
The Idol star, on the other hand, said that he recognizes how music and acting careers tend to become short-lived.
“I don’t know how long it will last, as much as I’d love to have a career in singing all my life and make a living off of it, you don’t know what can happen, sometimes it even lasts even for a year,” he said.
With that in mind, Archuleta said, it’s really important to keep one’s education “ongoing.”
“It’s an important thing to have there, education always comes in handy anyway,” he said.
He added that besides choir period – which he said probably doesn’t count – his favorite academic subject would be English.
“I really liked English, I’m really bad at writing papers, but everything else I just love it,” he said. – GMANews.TV

MANILA, Philippines – Even American Idol Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta had his own share of name-calling in high school.
“When I was in school, people used to call me smiley boy,” Archuleta said Friday during Magic 89.9’s radio show.
The 18-year-old singer-songwriter said his classmates thought it was too weird how he could always smile. “They’re like, it’s so creepy you smile so much,” he said.
His smile, however, earned him a 2008 Teen Choice Award for Best Smile and the adoration of legions of fans.
“It’s so neat just getting to meet kids who look up to you, it’s really cool,” he said. [See: Archuleta as awed by fans as they are of him]
But when he was asked what makes him smile, the American crooner just answered “I dunno.”
“I don’t know, there’s just a lot to be happy about I guess,” he said.
And he definitely has a lot to be happy about – an international career, a great following, and a chart-topping self-titled debut album.
Archuleta added that he’s probably just a positive person.
“I’m just trying to look at the brighter side of things, just trying to see the positive things in life,” he said.

oh, i watched my dvr recording of SIS last night, what can I say..david looked so gorgeous and he charmed everyone! it was hilarious when one of the singers asked for a kiss and david almost fell off the chair and ready to run off, hahahaha…

That was David Archuleta earlier this morning at the Manila Philippines Temple. He went in at around 7:00 this morning to perform duties as part of his being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He didn’t stay for long as he left the said place at around 8:30 that morning also.
The young superstar’s visit to the Philippines is not just a hit among teenage girls but also to the members of the church to which he is affiliated with. Whether Archuleta will attend Sunday services this weekend is still a big question.
Archuleta, together with David Cook will perform tomorrow at the SM Mall of Asia (MoA) concert grounds for their joint concert, the first to be feted by the two finalists of last year’s American Idol.

kimk – I had read that too – there were swine flu cases in the Philippines and they were just taking precautions.
I have a friend who is a pilot and he says the media is making too much of the swine flu stuff. They are still flying to Mexico- who knows — but always better to be careful/take precautions. But I hope they don’t hold up the David’s from returning home.

LK09 – Hicks is probably there because it’s new. I really liked Taylor. I haven’t heard his new song. I think he has a nice voice, personality and can sing. I even bought his first CD. But the problem is that the music at least from his first CD didn’t really fit in anywhere. It wasn’t pop, rock or country. I wish him the best though because I think he is a nice guy too. — just my opinion.

WOW I can’t believe someone would steal a kiss from him like that…that’s kind of …invasive. I mean even if he wasn’t happy about it what would he do…Push a fan? He’s not going to do that. 311/ABMS – When I first saw the tweet that was my guess. Everyone keeps asking David in interviews if the 2 Davids will sing together and our David always hedges on the answer. He has said “we haven’t rehearsed anything,” which wasn’t a lie because they did not rehearse until tonight.

I was in Target yesterday with my youngest and we heard ALTNOY and she is like “Mom.. David Archuleta is here!!” We went and found the screen and just grinned as we watched his ALTNOY video.. that made my day!!

Idol Chatter: Is Adam Lambert This Year’s David Archuleta?
Adam Lambert on American Idol courtesy FoxHE’S ONE OF “American Idol’s” most lauded contestants. He came pre-loaded with serious stage experience and he even had a measure of success with his singing before he auditioned.
Once on the show, he was recognized at once as a tremendous talent and received constant waves of praise from the judges — except for occasional, predictable jabs by Simon.
The ladies love him — and some of the guys do, too. He’s humble and self-effacing in interviews and appears to get along well with his fellow contestants and pretty much everyone else.
He was predicted for weeks to have a lock on the “Idol” title.
Who did I just describe? If the topic is “American Idol” season seven, it’s David Archuleta. But step forward a year. Don’t all of the attributes listed above also fit Adam Lambert?
Despite high expectations, David Archuleta didn’t win “American Idol.” Adam Lambert might not, either. And if he doesn’t, it’ll be for many of the same reasons.
Throughout season seven, Li’l David was hailed as the Idol-in-waiting — it was only in the final weeks that the eventual winner, David Cook, began to outshine him. Even then, though, many a reviewer — even yours truly — still thought Li’l D would come out ahead.
Here was the problem: Li’l David sang songs that, for all their pure vocal charisma, didn’t reach as wide an audience as David Cook’s.
You could say it’s because Li’l David was more defined as an artist than David Cook was: Cook was a general studies rocker; Li’l David — if you look at his “American Idol” catalogue — geared more toward uplifting, inspirational songs. David Cook’s songs ran the gamut, but were almost always radio-friendly tweaks that made even dusty old songs — Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello,” for example — seem current.
Adam has Cook’s tune-tweaking talent, too — in fact, I think his song repair shop provides higher-quality service than Cook’s did. But where he aligns more with Archuleta is in his nicheiness.
Adam’s song choices are, to be sure, more interesting than Li’l David’s were — and you’d think that the combination of masterful pipes and songsmithy derring-do would be unbeatable. But the chink in Adam’s armor is also his most powerful asset: his style. Some call it showtuney, some call it “Broadway,” some, like Simon, call it occasionally over-the-top.
Some absolutely love it. But Adam’s approach can be so strong, so heavy-handed that it drives away some listeners even as it coaxes others in. The best example of this would be his much-discussed version of “Ring of Fire” — but this week’s rendition of U2’s “One” would fall into the same category.
Li’l David was taken down by a contestant who had a great voice and a solid fan base, but whose music and songcrafting skills had a wider appeal. Dude in his mid-20s. Grew up near the Mississippi. Plays a guitar. Also got some serious judge love throughout the competition. Ring any bells in this year’s competition?
A final point: “Wait a minute,” you’d say if you were standing here as I was writing this, “what about Simon? He’s said again and again and again that he thinks Adam’s going to win?”
Turns out, he’s been wrong before.
Maybe Kris Allen isn’t as much of a dark horse as some folks might think.
