MADISON updates!
David heads up north for his show in Madison, WI tonight. I LOVE Madison. It’s the prettiest little city and a college town. I remember driving through Madison in December from Minneapolis to Pennsylvania. I was 10 and can remember the capital building with the snow and lights. Have you fallen asleep? I digress…
Taryn and KB are updating, BUT there appears to be no cell service for ANYONE in the venue.
UPDATE: Awesome. He does not want the ones in front to get squished.
UPDATE: HERE HE COMES! I think I’m going to hyperventilate. Everyone is on their feet. The crowd is very loud.
OUTFIT UPDATE: Jeans! Grey t-shirt! Plaid shirt. So cute!

UPDATE: KB: Can’t seem to send any pics. Dang it. Lesley is almost done. She rocks!
UPDATE: Full house! Great energy! Waiting for Lesley Roy!
UPDATE: My gosh this place is crazy. Eli and Alex just came on stage!
UPDATE: Line moving. Very diverse group of fans all orderly and respectful. Great group of fans.

Becky’s blubbering Columbus love fest…

I’ve been sitting here for an hour, adding bits to this post, avoiding writing anything about my Columbus concert experience. I guess I am beginning to understand why all of the lovely fans who have been calling me after the shows have a sudden case of aphasia. All of the good words have been used to describe David and I’m left with “um,” “I just….” “uh.” Pecan Pie calls it Archuphasia.
I could come up with something flowery to say, but I’m not sure it would be right. I feel like, once again, this big circle is completed. From ONE YEAR ago to now, it’s like a star has been born. A kind, sweet, uber-talented, handsome, humble, ragingly adorable, genius star. I think I’m surprised by the amount of pride I felt watching him. I have nothing to do with anything, but I still felt like my heart would burst, I was so proud of him. There was joy too. To feel so completely happy for a person and want nothing but success and happiness for him or her is a liberating thing.
I was so excited all week, packing, shopping, returning what I bought, shopping again (and yes…after all of that, I ended up with an orange sweater that doesn’t exactly do it for my complexion), not eating but drinking too much coffee, throwing up the worst posts in the history of FOD, calling my son David and forgetting where I left the cat. You all know the drill.
So the concert. Exceeded expectations. Plain and simple. His voice was strong and silky and PITCH PERFECT. I have to say that after hearing ALTNOY and Crush (I LOVE CRUSH) on WNCI that morning, I had a feeling the vocals last night would be love. I don’t think I can describe the feeling in my stomach when he sang “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY” during “To Be With You.” I know I didn’t breathe and I’m quite sure I was sucker punched. There was not one note off. Ever. For 70 minutes.
“Zero Gravity” was FANTASTIC! WOW! That song live is nothing but fun and rock-y and single-worthy. Honestly the biggest crowd-pleaser of the night. We jumped, Alex…we tripped all over each other and it wasn’t pretty, but we jumped.
I don’t have a favorite. Nope. You can’t make me. ALLLTHOUGH…Crush is just meant to be live. The ballads were love and “One” was a tease. I want to hear his take on the entire song. It was jazzy and soulful. I will admit something here, but ya’ll can’t tell a soul. I LOVE TMH. Yep…that coolio Mike K guitar jam leading up David’s appearance on stage built our anticipation and then BAM…Big D comes out and we’re screaming and dancing and singing. So ya…I’m shipping TMH. Becky + TMH =4eva.
The Band. THE BAND! The Best Dang Band in the Land. Every last one of those guys (and courageous girl) is kind and sweet and COOL! Alex is funny and kind and EXCITED! Eli is my new BFF. Don’t tell him because he doesn’t know and I don’t want to freak him out. He did derive a bit too much joy from reliving draining his own fingernail, but I won’t go there. He thinks John Mayer is sick. Yep. We’re BFF’s. Kendra is gorgeous and holding her own in a bus full of men. I gave her a candle, thinking she’d need something girly. She did share that the bus was a bit, um, odiferous. But I get the vibe that Kendra can handle it. And she has some fierce shoes. I like her already. Mike is sweet and we talked babies and Nashville and I made a fool of myself by gushing too much. I did manage to swallow “OMGosh! YOU WROTE BREAKAWAY!!!!! AHHH!”
Rambling. I loved meeting back up with Jenny. We went to the AI Indy show together and this felt very emotional. No one knows more about this crazy existence I now have than Jenny.

OMG! That 7 News channel is my news channel! -lives in Miami!- (sees that reporter guy on that channel giving the Idol reports and others all the time on there, too – lol) too bad I didn’t know this was on last night though, for once I didn’t watch the idol recaps so I didn’t know about this video… sigh. Neat to see it though! that reporter in particular can also be really funny at times and really annoying at others so yeah… (the channel in general always support Idols from Miami over any of the others; it seems?)- I’m glad they had good things to say about both Davids though! that was nice to see. =)

Evenin’ everyone. Got back from Columbus this afternoon and it’s official! I am officially…the WORST at getting to meet David!
I had to give my little gift bag to Mike to pass on to David.
I tried every way I can. But they wouldn’t let David come out to sign last night because they said there wasn’t enough security for everyone, not just David. And they didn’t want anyone to get hurt. Doomed to be a charter lifelong member of this rotten club!

Which, by the way did not come with a manual. I guess they figured if you bought one, you already knew how to use it! WRONG! Another call to tech support!

#117/ Hi DAF4Ever! Yep – Charlotte has lots of those! They’re usually on the wealthier side of town – the the north and south sides of the city… and in an area close to the SC state line where lots of the athletes and other gazillionaires live
Lotsa funky, cool little stores, lotsa little plazas and greenery, good restaurants….. I love to eat, so I know where all the good food is in this city!

I am thinking I may have let them onthe table the night of the blizzard in llentwon when we ordered pizza and everyone came down to eat andvisit.

archieluver, a firewall is a high tech protection system that does not allow you to access certain sites, etc… gotta love technology. When its activated it can be a life saver against hackers, etc.
I could seriously cry. I thought for sure I would meet David last night. I did my Archuduties. I handed out the survey cards. I talked to a lot of people in line about FOD and David. I talked to all the guys in the band, who are so friendly and great by the way. They love being out there and meeting everyone. David even pointed right to me during one song. I just need to squee-scream-freak out-squeal about my XM 20on20 experience!!!
Okay, so I was at Starbucks with my friend today and while she went outside to greet another friend of ours…I took the oppurtunity to call XM20. So…as I’m sitting there, waiting to hear Priestly’s cheerful voice…I suddenly hear, “XM 20on20!!” And I completely spazzed…I managed to croak out a request for ALTNOY to the super nice DJ and then hung up.
And then the realization of the chance that I had just thrown away set in. So I called my mom and quickly filled her in (she agreed with me in a loving mother sort of way) and I proceeded to kick myself through the rest of my Starbucks time and trips to two different grocery stores.
As I was headed home I figured it’d been a couple of hours since I’d flustered my chance and maybe I could get the voicemail this time. So I called and called as it just rang, then suddenly the DJ answered and I said the first thing that popped into my head.
Me: “OH MY GOSH!! I can’t believe I got through!!”
DJ Chris: “Hello, hello, hello!” (said in a friendly sing-song voice)
Me: I just wanted to thank you guys soooooooooo much for putting A Little Too Not Over You back on the online voting form!!
DJ: Chris: No problem!! We have been FLOODED with calls for it and so it’s really thanks to you guys!! So thanks for requesting it!
Me: Thanks! I love it so much! Have you heard the new song he’s been singing on his tour? Zero Gravity? It’s incredible!!
DJ Chris: Yeah I have!! Tons of people have been telling me about it and a lady e-mailed me a link to YouTube from his show last night and it’s great!! He just bopping all over the place!
Me: Yeah, I’m going to two of his concerts next week, Beaumont and San Antonio and I can’t wait to hear him live!
DJ Chris: Yeah, it’s such a well-written song and it has great beats!!
Me: I really hope it’s his next single!
DJ Chris: That would be awesome!!
Then he asked me my name, introduced himself and told me to have fun at the concert and call him back tell him how it was!! And then I hung up and proceeded to scream the rest of the way home!!! So, keep calling and requesting guys…IT’S WORKING!!
We did it Omg RAF and I won Meet and Greet tix for San Antonio *dies*. I was out for the day but I had my phone. It was not good reception so I didn’t hear it ring. I happenend to check it and there was the lady from 96.1’s phone number and a voice mail!!! I teied to hear the voice mail but it was choppy so I walked around to find a good signal and called her back. She said she could spare 2 meet and greet tix and concert tix for me. We are 4 people and we already have concert tickets so I said look I have concert tickets already so please find somebody else that needs them then I said since I am not takinh the concert tix could I get 2 more meet and greet and she said she didn’t have any extra. I said okay thinking okay we are all going to show up anyway and see what happens. Then I read my texts from RAF and she has the same story worrying if I was mad that she could omly get 2 tix. I texted her and told her I got them too!!!! We are soooo happy. She also told her to give the concert tix to somebody else. I hope the lady sees that David fans are good people!!!. Now we have to get Joe G in. I told him to just stick with us and we will try to slide him in and if that doesn’t work we will ask Jeff once inside. I can’t believe we pulled this off!!!

Please excuse my typos i am sooo excited. When Jenny posted yesterday about 96.1 doing a meet and greet I got to work. I went to the website and entered but it just said concert tickets. I tried to call the station but no answer. There was another phone number for questions and directions so I called it. The operator answered and I told her what I wanted and she put me through to the promotions manager. I got voice mail so I told her that I am a big fan and am texting requests for ALTNOY several times a day and am going to the concert and just HAVE to have meet and greet tickets. I left my number and asked her to call me and tell me what I needed to do. Then I called RAF since she doesn’t have computer access and got her registered and then gave her the name and number of the pd. She said great as she had spoken to her before. She also called and left a message!! This lady has no idea that the extra tickets we wanted were for each other!!! I told her I will call her when I have better reception for all the info. I will tell her then how ironic the whole story is.
Scott right now RAF is over the moon!!! I will tell her you asked about her. I don’t believe our efforts paid off! I screamed just for a second in the ladies ear and quickly apologised!! RAF said she cried!!! This lady must think we are crazy. YES WE ARE!!! Crazy over David Archuleta!!!

It was a great show last night. We met a couple of nice college girls who said they come here every day, but don’t post. They said they will now. David had signed their sneakers during the summer tour.
I got a lot of info from the band about upcoming stuff. Maybe I should write a little story and send it to Jenny and Becky. I met them for the first time last night.
When I got back to my hotel, David’s bus was there and I thought they were staying there and I could finally see him in the lobby, but then the bus pulled away. I thought they were anxious to get on the road for tonight’s show, but something was up. Probably David was stashed there while I was standing outside the bus… that would be my luck.

I think being labelled as the one to beat after Imagine worked in reverse for him on AI last year… gone was that joy, and that feeling of abandon so evident in Shop Around…. been waiting patiently for it to return, and this tour, and especially last night, was validation that he’s got his Shop Around mojo back…. it was exhilarating to see him so loose, and free, and bouncy, and being the 18 year old teen that he is when singing ZG last night… that cute little balladeer image is being dismantled bit by bit by David on this tour…
I think we’re seeing glimpses of the performer and showman he’s been all along… And I think this band has been instrumental in encouraging and helping him open up on stage… they have a more youthful vibe than the other one, he responds well to them, and I think he really trusts them to have his back onstage..
I hope they stay with him for a long time… hard to find that kinda chemistry, and make that kind of magic onstage after only a few weeks!

You and I met after the Allentown concert and posed wih Alex (the bass player) in the venue. I have not gotten sick (knock on wood), but suttygal has had a fever and cold.

#404 Scott, Part of it is an inner ear problem I have that causes some problems, especially with heights. I think my ears would pop like a bag of orville reddenbackers popcorn in a microwave if I got on a plane,lol. The doctors think that a long time ago I took a shower, got water in my ears & then slept in a room with air conditioning & it froze causing an off balance problem. Theres actually a hospital in Mpls with a balance center in it. Weird, I guess its become more of a problem over the years. I have been told that I’ve always been a little off kilter,lol. You’ll be fine, you’ll have Candy with you.

I just watched ZG from last night. It was so good. Everybody really gets into it now. I was jumping up and down on somebody’s coat, then I realized it was mine. Oh, well.
Whoever asked about the bus being at the hotel before-it was at the venue. We waited til it pulled away-sans David. We drove back to our hotel, and there was the bus. It was only there for a few minutes before pulling away. They probably thought Archiecrat and I were stalking them, but that was where we were staying. Don’t even ask about what happened at McDonalds. Maybe I’ll write up something. We had teens and college kids asking our advice on how to keep the crowd behind you, behind you. And what to do about waiting by the bus for David. They said we were the pros. Three shows in one week.
Joanie: If the Utah concert was a weekend, I would’ve bought the tickets, and booked my flight & hotel in a blink of an eye. Unfortunately, I have work commitments on March 27 and there is no way I can take a vacation on that day.

kimk, They never said that. Just one night a long time ago, I was dizzy in my bed, so my parents took me to emergency(I was back home in 1991 in between moves when it happened). They gave me a drug called, I think, Antevert. Have you ever heard of it? Anyway, I first saw a doctor who did a test with putting water in my ears & see how I reacted to it. He said the test showed distal latency. I said does that mean anything & he said not really. But when I went to the balance center they did the test again. You lay on the table & they attach these plugs to your ears & one in the middle of your forehead,lol for real. Then as they pour water in your ears you look at red & green lights on the wall & it records your reactions to it. They did it 3 times in one ear & twice in the other. I was so dizzy. I asked the guy about the distal latency thing & he said yes it does mean something. It means you have an inner ear problem,lol. Why didnt the other doctor say that,lol. Sorry this is so wordy & probably more info than you were looking for,lol. I think I must be a little tired, I’m chatty tonight. kimk, how are you with things in motion?

Scott, I agree with you totally. The crowd was so respectful during TBWY in Lancaster. It was amazing. In Buffalo, the girls yelled out “David I love you” every 10 seconds.

The crowd last night consisted of a lot of young girls, younger than the crowds at Lancaster and Allentown. Maybe because it was on a college campus. One girl behind me kept screaming “I love you, David” every 5 min. I finally had to shoot her a few dirty looks and say WE KNOW YOU LOVE HIM, BUT I WANT TO HEAR HIM SING! Some people held up signs, which is ok for a minute, after that they gotta put them down, so we all can see. A few people got up on someone’s shoulders, until we politely poked them
and requested them to get down.

Beth That is probably what you have as it is the same thing I have. Sometimes I am dizzy and actually spinning I can like fall over. I was wearing the antivert patch for a while and I found allergy meds helped me a lot. It seems to be for me an allergy thing so I am a lot better. But put me on one of those spinny rides and look out. I had all the same tests by the way. It is not a major problem unless you have an imbalance coming on. I just take zyrtec if I feel it coming on.

For those of you who have been to concerts, I’m just curious if anyone has asked David how he concentrates on singing when everyone is yelling they love him and screaming at him? Sometimes he puts both of his ear pieces in that blocks out the screaming, but he seems to like to keep one in and one out to hear the crowd. Won’t all that super loud screaming affect his hearing at some point? And where does he look when he’s singing? above people’s heads or directly at people? How does he keep from being distracted? He just keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait to finally see him!

That’s one of the “side effects” I guess of David having such an age diverse fanbase… it’s next to impossible to corral that youthful exuberance and high energy from them when they see him…. on one hand you can’t blame them…. it was the same for all teen stars from Fabian to The Beatles to David Cassidy to the Backstreet Boyz… and from a PR standpoint, his team has to love it, because it generates good press and buzz when pictures are shown of screaming teens going bananas outside and inside the shows….young girls are gonna just go nutz in a concert, during those times when those who are there to be entertained by hearing the artist have to suffer through the shrieks and ear splitting screams at what we deem inappropriate times….
It’s to be expected of them – it’s the adults who act selfishly and like idiots that annoy me the most…. What to do? I guess just endure it, or invest in a good pair of ear plugs for David’s shows!
#514/Nancy L: A lot of musicians do have hearing loss after so much touring.
He looks directly at you in the crowd when he sings. I was four people back the other night, and he looked right into my eyes. He does this throughout the show. He randomly picks someone to sing to. It’s amazing, but I actually diverted my eyes a few times to Mike, the guitar player sometimes because it was uncomfortable for me. Then I thought, what am I doing? If he’s looking in my direction, I better just enjoy it.
