The second installment of FOD’s exclusive video interviews of David Archuleta’s tour band features drummer Eli Logothetis!
Eli’s name is pronounced “Ell-ee-us Logotheetis.” And what a cute smile. That’s all I’m sayin.’
Eli has caused somewhat of a stir among the female contingency of FOD. *Clears throat nervously.
Cool facts: Eli is a graduate from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He truly feels that David is the “next big thing” and decided in December, before he moved back to New York from Utah where he had been visiting his girlfriend, that he would hand-deliver his resume to Jeff Archuleta’s house and just see what happened. The rest is history! Smart man!
David Archuleta is Eli’s favorite artist, and aside from David, (um…somebody tie Becky down), John Mayer is also a big influence.

Interview with Richmond Times-Dispatch
This article is great promotion for David in Richmond, where the show hasn’t sold out yet, at least as of yesterday.
David’s fatigue and general confusion about his own schedule is the highlight here, but he does comment that he’s excited about performing his solo concert tour. As expected, his set lists will contain nearly all songs from his album in addition to some surprises.

David Archuleta is extremely tired.
And who can blame him?
After an early-morning flight from his home in Utah to Los Angeles — where he’s calling from Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., West Coast time — the second-place winner from last season’s “American Idol” isn’t initially quite coherent enough to recall why he’s there.
“Something about ‘Hannah Montana,’ I think,” he murmurs.
Are you acting on the show, as you recently did on Nickelodeon’s “iCarly”?
“I dunno. It’s just another guest appearance thing, I think.”
As the conversation progresses, Archuleta shakes off his sleepiness (he said he had to wake up at 4:30 a.m.), though he’s a little unfocused, breaking midthought to comment on a workers strike taking place outside his hotel window and frequently yawning during his answers.
But even when he isn’t 100 percent centered, Archuleta is sweeter than the majority of 18-year-old boys you’ll encounter, and he frequently punctuates his answers with a disarming giggle.
His first headlining tour kicks off Tuesday in Virginia Beach. The next night, he comes to Richmond, at The National.
He’s a little nervous, understandably, mostly because he had, at that point, only rehearsed one time with his new four-piece band.
That’s what happens when you’re the most recent “Idol” runner-up — everyone wants a piece of you.
From the Pro Bowl (where he sang the national anthem and also fell in love with Hawaii) to Orlando (where he and “Idol” winners and notable contestants gathered last week to debut the “American Idol Experience” at Disney World) to New Orleans (where Archuleta served as grand marshal in a Mardi Gras parade last weekend), the teddy-bearish crooner has barely had time to stop and savor his success.
His self-titled debut album arrived in November, three months after his first single, “Crush,” did exactly that to the competition on the charts.
The song has sold 1.5 million digital downloads, while the album has moved more than 600,000 copies.
Archuleta said he plans to perform “pretty much the whole album” during his show and maybe some cover tunes.
The tour is also his first true break from the “Idol” regime, and he acknowledges it will be strange not having his buds from the show to keep him company.
“On the [summer 'Idol'] tour, we’d end around midnight every night and watch movies and stuff on the bus,” he said. “I don’t have [the other contestants] to hang out with, but now, I’ve been away from them long enough. Before, it was like, wow, you’d been with them for so long, and right after coming off the tour, it was really weird, not having them there. But now, I’ve been away from ‘Idol’ long enough to do my own thing.”
Archuleta said he talks to all of his former show mates almost weekly — “except Chikezie [Ezie]. I have his number, but I really haven’t talked to him.”
He and last season’s “Idol” winner, David Cook, see each other frequently when they’re paired to perform at corporate events, and Archuleta reiterates that the scruffier David is like a big brother to him.
Archuleta is also trying to make time to watch this season of the show, especially now that the live performances and voting period have kicked in.
“It’s really interesting to watch now because I understand so much more of what they have to go through,” he said.
One thing that still baffles the wholesome singer is the attention lavished on him in public. He laughs when asked if he’s gotten more comfortable with the screaming girls and crazed fans.
“I don’t know. It depends on what kind of mood you’re in. I got reminded of all the people who know who you are with all of these appearances. All these people were coming out and it was like, oh my gosh, all these people are coming out to see me?” “Why did they come out to see me? It’s just me.”
In his sleep-deprived haze, Archuleta doesn’t even realize that he answered his own question.

so me and lenscap Amy are flying to “Picksburg” to meet my BFF..have dinner…
laugh, cry..u know all that girl stuff!!
Then we head out in the morning for Lancaster with 2 other fodders…4 hr drive there..which we thought would be fun…and then 2 more hr drive to Allentown!
so lots of travel time..but it will be all worth it!
I also had to travel about 5-6 hrs by train to see David in Chicago…again..all worth it!! The other 2 times I saw David..one was only an hour drive..the other was 3 hr drive.

Pam05 – no really funny stuff from yesterday at BAB – just a general feeling of ‘I like/love that guy – he should have won – he was my favorite – what a sweetheart!’ It has been SO AWESOME seeing folks react to his picture in the store. Only 2 negative comments out of the several hundred people since we launched the song. Many people don’t know that he has an album out and don’t know about the tour. On our calendars that we handout it says “David Archuleta’s CD available wherever music is sold.” So that is good!

David PLEASE get some rest before you go on tour! I can’t believe he had 2 get up at 4:30 in the morning 2 get on plane and he is sooo tired. I really hope he can rest! It is sad how tired he is! I am sooooo glad that he is going 2 sing “almost the whole album and a couple surprises” I am soooo happy he is singing alot from the album that is a good move! Hopefully he covers several different styles from the album 2 promote his amazing versatility. If we are lucky Imagine and ATM might be the “surprises”.

ALTNOY is head and shoulders above most of the songs on Billboard, and I can’t wait to see it begin to really ignite…. Lord knows we monitor and stay abreast of its numbers – sales, airplay, and in the requesting…. so as long as we keep covering those bases, we can let nature, timing, fate et al take their course…

I made some reservations a while back at Gibson Grill for 4:00 pm (connected to the National) for any Archuleta fans wanting to meet up. Can you make it? The nice thing about the Gibson Grill is that if you have dinner there before a show, they let you in fifteen minutes before the doors open up. No waiting in line. I’ve been focusing on Virginia Beach so much lately that I kind of forgot about getting the word out for the Gibson Grill.

This tour is going to be so exciting.

thanks PSP – my BFF doesn’t understand how I can “love” someone that I don’t really “know.” I do feel like I know him though, from the whole AI season, to the AI tour and videos, interviews, articles, etc. I think I have seen every word that has come out of his mouth (all that has been filmed anyway) and although I don’t really “know” him, I’ll never be his friend, or hang out chatting with him, and he’s not “real” in my life – my devotion and desire to support him is very real. This is where I lose people. They think I’m just obsessed. I’m just as obsessed about David as I am about my own kids, life, and work. I can’t fully explain it but it feels like he is family.

He had me from the moment he opened his mouth. You can’t hide the kind of heart and character that David has. My love for him goes beyond his incredible talent. His voice might have capture my attention, but it is who David is a person that has captured my heart. If they would spend one second listening to him and taking the blinders off, they would get it too.
Good morning eveyone. I’m loving these interviews with the band members. It’s wonderful to hear from someone in the music business who “gets” David. I hope Eli and David develop a lasting relationship.
My supervisor sent her weekly AI report to me this morning. We exchange views on the contestants and is the main reason that I’m watching the show this season. I love that we keep in touch..she’s such a nice person. In her email this morning she said, “We also like Anoop “Dog”, he kind of reminds me of your David Angel!!!”

Hey! Jumping out of longtime lurker status to inquire about those going to Columbus concert. I thought I read that funnygirl was going there, as well as some others. Hoping to meet up with some of you since I am driving there from Michigan on my own. My family thinks I’m totally crazy and they are really freaked that I am meeting up with “strangers”…*gasp*. But, even though I mostly only lurk, I consider most of you far from strangers. PSP can vouch for my David love…met up with her at Ford Day and I must say, the best experience EVER. To see David in such a small, intimate setting was beyond my wildest dreams!!! Hey PSP, still not playing him on 96.3. They will regret that some day…they are missing out on the next biggest thing out there, to paraphrase Eli, the drummer!

Pam, I just called them too and talked with the dj for a few minutes…he was really nice…but still not playing him…he said David just isn’t big enough yet for them to play him…the station looks to see how artists are doing in radioplay elsewhere before they play new here…I just think we will have to wait for awhile here…look how long it took for them to play jason mraz and sara barreilles here. Hubby is only slightly freaked…actually he’s more nervous about me going by myself..worried about my safety and all…I thinks he thinks that someone on here is just going to kidnap me or take advantage of me or something…my sis is the same way…they don’t understand the whole David thing at all…my mom also a little freaked but not as much…she is pretty independent and that’s how she raised us…my dad died when I was sixteen so she really had to be that way…

373 ILWA – First of all, Jive is not exploiting David. Do you understand that David has a concert in about 4 days? You can’t prepare for a concert if you are taking days off. This is his job. This is his dream. David is quite in control of what he is doing. He knows what is best for him and knows how to take care of himself. The band has been putting in 14 hour days without David even being there. Now they get one week to rehearse with David. That is what it takes to put on a good show.
Secondly – We all request. We request like crazy. They are not NOT playing ALTNOY for the lack of requesting. I for one, request every day and my radio station still has not played it. I have emailed both the PD and MD and they both say they will add it. Each station has it’s own rules. We just have to be patient.
Ok, this is really fun chatting, but I have to go to the orthodontist now…got braces off and now have to do retainer check…not a teenager though. Actually, my 41st bday is on Saturday. Just feeling like a teenager

I saw David live in SLC. I was in the nosebleed section. I’d never been to any concert before except Harry Belefonte years ago. I didn’t know what a concert could be like. My kids warned me. My chair shook, my bones shook, my ears were ringing for days after. I found myself screaming along with everyone else. I couldn’t believe his voice filled the arena above all the screaming. It was thrilling. I prefer to hear his voice without all the screaming and then burst forth with that at the end of the song,but oh well, that’s not going to happen. I am so excited I can’t stand it.

robin, i don’t know if there’s any time that’s better than another. but i know they’re doing something funny with the requesting system so i was trying to see if waiting 24 hours between the times you text request would work better. maybe they have their computer keeping track of the phone numbers of the texters you know? since it’s all computerized.
i’m going to call in today since i think that works better but yeah, you have to be patient because they take FOREVER to answer the phone sometimes.

Well it looks like we have issues again with the mediabase links. The links has a VERY SENSITIVE clock. It only allows us to request every 24 hrs. period, if we try and request earlier …it resets itself another 24hrs. I have wait way over a 24hr. period and it still won’t let me request.
I am hearing stories from fans on all forums. I have emailed 2 different people from mediabase.com hopefully someone will be kind enough to email me back. Meanwhile we need to request the old fashioned way again, phone, website or email our radio stations.

LOLOL… We are gonna stay the course in requesting ALTNOY via the radio stations – they will get on board eventually… sure, it makes one a little impatient sometimes seeing the back and forth movement on the charts, but you have to have a long haul mindset for this type of thing – getting overly emotional from day to day doesn’t help – being and staying diligent, positive and focused in requesting does… just stay focused on what we can do to remedy the situation – like making those polite, persistent requests to our locals that have added ALTNOY, and the rest will hopefully fall into place…
I don’t much care what Jesse or Katy or these others are doing – it’s what can we do, as fans everyday, to help David, without freaking out over the ups and downs and back in forth in the airplay updates….. and at the end of the day, if our efforts work, great. If they don’t for whatever reason, it won’t be for lack of trying!

Just thinking about that interview. That was tuesday morning. 930 west coast time.8:30 our time. Pam had dinner with him monday night. Jeff said they had to be at the airport at 4:30. So they had to leave home before that. They were also going back to rehearse for at least another hour before they left. He didn’t leave the dinner until pretty late. (10? gotta ask pam when) So David really hadn’t had much sleep if any. How does he do it? Then he must have had the Miley thing all that day. Poor baby. I hope he got al lot of sleep that next night. (I am such a mom.)
and about the envious cook fans, come on they are so jealous because david archuleta keeps selling his music without promotion and without the support from the radio stations..it’s not secret that Cook label paid the big RS to play light on, when light on was flopping his label made the impossible to save that forgettable song..
at least Archuleta is doing his own things without relying on American idol…
shame on those haters, they can’t handle that David Archuleta overshadows Cook, his cd might outsell Archie’s, but the media don’t report that, because Archie is the favorite, the chosen one haha and he was the favorite and will always be, when Archie is #1 in something, all the media reports that, and when Cook is #1 in something, a few media is reporting it..so no body knows what’s going on with him, that’s because is not so interesting, and the haters can’t handle that David is more interesting, so he is always on the public eye!!!

I’m over it….. and most of us are I think…. we have moved forward a great deal from the old competition aspect of this thing – David has nothing to prove about his value, his potential, etc… I don’t care how many albums the other has sold, is selling, will sell in the future… it has nothing to do with how we feel about David… no one can diminish any aspect of his phenomenal accomplishments since Idol, and he’s proven to a large degree that he is a standalone artist in his own right – and will continue to be for many years to come… ALTNOY is going to do what it’s going to do – and we’ll do all we can to support it, and Jive and the stations will hopefully do the rest…. either way I’m confident we will have the CP around for a long time to come

and yeah, i will keep requesting AlTNOY, but i get a little discouraged by those fans who are not requesting enough, specially those who have heard ALTNOY on their local radio stations, i think ALTNOY shouldn’t be losing spins on the radio stations that already play it, something’s wrong guys, the problem is that those fans are not requesting it enough so the radio stations are playing it less now…

The strength of David is that he is not like anyone else. He has only scratched the surface of what he can do. I believe that this is what will help keep him around for a long time to come. You put that together with a heart and soul like he has and it is a combination that is unstoppable. How many of us know we will support him for life? How many other artists have you felt this way about. We will always be there for and support the Miracle that is David.
