FOD Invited to Disneyworld to Cover the Opening of the American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida!

Fans of David was invited by Disneyworld to join in the press coverage of the opening of the American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida on February 12th!
On February 12th, Richard will be representing FOD. We will have an exclusive behind the scenes look of the American Idol Experience and we will broadcasting red carpet coverage to our FOD fans! We will have photos, video, and interviews with many of the past Idol participants.
The attraction opens on the 15th of February. We will have our footage available to post late on the night of the 12th or the 13th, depending on how much fun Richard is having that night.

Happy 18 Years and 1 Month Birthday Video!
As many of you know, FOD was arranging a birthday video for David way back at the beginning of December. For various reasons, that video did not come to pass. I asked fans to re-submit, and YES! The video is ready! And just in time for David’s 18 years and 1 month birthday!

Idol Recap
In honor of David, who is a self-confessed Idol junkie like I am and said he will be watching this year, I’m posting recaps.
Jacksonville last night was…strange. I have four auditions recorded as notable:
Julissa Veloz, 19: Julissa is a Latina beauty queen (why did she wear her banner-thingie?) with a disconcerting, growling laugh and slumped shoulders. I really like her for reasons I can’t quite put my finger on: maybe it’s her aggressively positive outlook. Maybe it’s her very fine vocals: she sang Whitney, and even though Simon said she didn’t make the song special, she gave me a chill or two, in a good way. If she looked like Jennifer Lopez and didn’t laugh like a gorilla, the judges would have been bowing at her feet. You can find her on YouTube. Go, Julissa!

Jasmine Murray, 16: Jasmine is beautiful, which is 80% of the AI battle. Way to go, Jasmine’s DNA! It’s nice that Jasmine can sing Fergie without making me roll my eyes. I love Fergie. Jasmine is no Fergie, but she’s darn good. And did I mention that she’s cute as a button in a glamorous, somewhat don’t-mess-with-me way?

T.K. Hash, 23. This audition falls under the unfortunate auspice of “he’s no David Archuleta,” which yes, my family had to listen to me say a few times while the poor kid was singing. He is actually very technically savvy. Imagaine the song “Imagine” without the hopeful wistfulness, the yearning, the heart-spilled-onto-the-stage that David Archuleta imparts. T.K. inserted an impressive number of runs into this classic, which really isn’t a good thing. He is good, though, and I wish him luck. By the way, he made it to Hollywood last year, too. I wonder if David remembers him?

Honorable Mention: Anne Marie somebody or other, who was sent out after her first audition to glam up and get more “star persona,” had a pretty, smooth-sounding voice. Why did the judges toy with her like that? Just for fun.

I was in WDW 1/9-1/15. I drove my family nuts because I just wanted to
hover around the AI attraction. They had some staff out there to talk to and
the little store was opened next to it. I was hoping that David would be on the big
screen so I could get a picture but they weren’t showing anything on it. I’m excited
about FOD (Richard) being represented for the opening!

Jacksonville high jinks as the audition trail nears an end

This is generally the point in the auditions when I deem panic is an appropriate response to the “American Idol” audition tour’s abject failure to produce a candidate worthy of standing in the footsteps of Clarkson, Aiken and Archuleta. Two years ago, at the Season Six close I wrote: “Thus far, we’ve seen a possible Mandisa or two, perhaps a future Lisa Tucker … but where is the next McPhee, the next Bice or even 2007’s Elliot Yamin?”
Last year, at the close of auditions for what proved to be the strongest “Idol” season in history, I wrote, “In interviews, Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe dangled the very specific number three as the quantity of unmistakable earth-shattering talents we would meet in the pre-season.I am not quite sure of which three he was talking about. I feel that along this audition trail we have met a good number, as many as 20 or so, of very credible talents with great growth potential (not to mention tear-jerking back stories). But I can’t say I’ve had the “Oh my God” moment that I remember when first gazing upon Katharine McPhee or Melinda Doolittle.”
And once again, I find myself standing in the same place, feeling underwhelmed by the talent I’ve seen thus far; and even as I read those words, finding it hard to believe that but a year ago, I did not see the majesty of Cook, Mulaby, Johns and the Great Smithson when they first stood before us.
The fact is however much we may cherish those rare star-is-born moments, in fact “Idol” stars tend to be made, not born. It wasn’t until well into the Top 12 rounds that anyone considered David Cook a serious contender. Jordin Sparks spent the auditions and the opening rounds in a distant back seat to Melinda Doolittle and LaKisha Jones.
It is the journey that conferred gravitas on these giants. A long trail of tears awaits those who pass through Hollywood Week, but at the other end of it, those who survive emerge standing amongst the gods. In our recent interview, David Archuleta described the grueling “Idol” ordeal, and the days when you feel like you can’t take another step –- and the jubilation when you survive it, get up on that stage and give the performance of a lifetime. That feeling, and the weightiness it confers, cannot be achieved in one 40-second audition, no matter how good.
Not to mention the fact that we have only seen a fraction of the total Golden Ticket-winning interviews.
That said, there has been a real tone of goofiness to this pre-season. At first the focus on the judges’ playtime seemed natural in light of Kara’s novelty. But in Jacksonville, the judges table high jinks bubbled over and dominated the show, barely allowing any time for what star-is-born moments there might have been (assuming there were any.) In our brief hour of auditions, we saw Simon babysitting a girl’s dog, another girl bringing in her friend to sit on Randy’s lap — leading to an awkward mass-lap-sitting orgy, a comic mock-make out between Paula and Kara, and a strange interlude wherein Paula took one contestant backstage. Not to mention the fact that on the first day, they were sitting in the wrong seats! An “Idol” heresy if ever there was one.
On one level, it’s certainly good to see the judges have a little spring in their step compared with their wooden audition death marches of the last few years, but perhaps the giddiness pendulum has swung too far and folks need to take their seats and focus on their work: the hard and serious business on which the fate of a nation rests — finding our next “American Idol.”
All that said, in interviews Simon has claimed that Wednesday night’s city –- Salt Lake –- was the best of the tour. So perhaps tonight a star will in fact be born.

AndreaC – I’d like to think I’m a strong enough woman to dine with David, but the sad truth of the matter is that I can hardly breathe around him. I’m pretty brave, waiting in line for him, hugging him, but I put on a good show. I feel the light from him and I am undone because it is so sweet and pure to be near him, but he is so beautiful that you can’t help but notice, and then you get all angsty about everything.

David Archuleta is headed for the spring break of his life.
The 17-year-old American Idol star, one of the more beloved runners-up in the show’s history, has announced plans for his first solo tour.
The 20-city road trip kicks off Feb. 24 in Virginia Beach, Va., and will keep Archuleta’s pipes engaged at theaters and other midsize venues such as the storied House of Blues until March 21.
Jive Records labelmate Lesley Roy will open for him.
In the meantime, fans who love Archuleta for more than his precocious voice can catch his guest appearance on Nickelodeon’s iCarly on Feb. 7.

OMGD & DebVA – the weirdest thing happened. Somehow they booked me tickets twice (I know have 6 tickets, but I’m sure I can sell the other three that are in Orchester Level H). The second set of tickets cnfirmed Orchester Center E117-119, so these are a bit nearer and we’ll take those. Don’t know how this happened. So in fact, we are nearer than I thought.

Hi everyone! i haven’t had time to read all the posts so sorry if this is a repeat. since the lancaster show was listed in the pre-sale list for the code “crush” i called this morning but could not get anyone. they said to send an email to a specific email address so i did – asking about the pre-sale and how many tickets you can buy at once (this question they did not answer.) the response was in like 5 minutes and it is as follows:
Tickets will only be available on Ticketmaster. They are $25 each. There is no presale that we know of. Additional artists may be added to the bill. We do not know how long he is playing. We have had other idol contestants’ play before and there were no general meet n greets.
Also, here is some general info on the club (in case you haven’t been here before)…we have two separate rooms. On Feb 28th, the Slimfit show is in the lizard lounge; David’s concert is in the Chameleon Club. Headliners always play last.
Also, we have no seats. We are a general admission/standing room only venue (we are a club, not a theatre). FYI…There are multiple levels and not everyone will be able to see perfectly. The Chameleon Club serves snacks, pizza, soda, and alcohol. The club is cash only. There is an ATM on premise. We do recommend hotel suggestions on our website.

Wendy – Hi. I don’t know if Andrea is still here but PSP got on here last night for a minute and said her mom did well and was doing well. Poor PSP was so tired. We have so much ice and snow here in Ohio that both my kids universities have closed. My yard looked like an ice rink last night and my dog had a hard time walking. It was very funny and she loved being out in it. Today we are getting a ton of snow. It’s almost a white out. I have been thinking about you a lot the past few days. I feel so bad that there is not a concert near you and you have to see all of us scrambling for tickets. Just know I’m thinking about you. I am certain David will do another leg of the tour and he’ll be close to you.
carlos from canada- I hear where you are coming from, he is totally ready for nicer venues. And that will come in time. These are the steps they all take. It’s good for us fans because it is still up close and personal and there will come a time when he is going to be such a huge mega star that he won’t be able to be so close to us. Everyone concerned with venues everyone has to start somewhere. Think of the biggest artist you know. They started just like this small and got bigger. That’s how it goes. He is becoming a big artist quickly and we need to enjoy what we have for the blessing it is and embrace the great future that is just ahead.

Good morning everyone. For anyone planning on going to the concert at Idaho Falls, I found an article from a local news station that says the tickets will be $20 each.
“Adam James of radio station Z103, who also owns Visual Sound Production, says tickets will be affordable, at $20 each.”
I don’t know why it’s so hard to get info about that concert. And only 1 tiny picture of the inside of the auditorium on the internet. At least we now know the price of ticket. Still trying to find out what time they go on sale.

The tickets I purchased have section, row and seat numbers. So glad I got the pre-sale code for that (thanks again Becky and Amy!) Can’t wait to get them in my hands and put them in my safe place!

Nita When I decided to go to Charlotte AI tour thing I paid like 500 for two tickets because I waited until the last minute. Yikes my hub had a fit. Even if I can’t go I know someone will be able to use the tickets and they were very reasonable in price. So that is my bargaining chip. It is not that I am going just that it is so far. He will worry. lol He thought I might get hurt the first time and sent my son with me. My son would not want to go this time and to be honest I want to go and just squeel away for David. Besides I can’t wait to meet all of you guys as I think we will have a ball.

For all of us going to the Allentown concert… I know it’s early but a tentative suggestion for meeting up with everyone since it’s on a Sunday (remembering Sunday in Camden) is at the Lehigh Valley Mall. It’s easy to get to and only 2 miles form Crocodile Rock and is open from 11-7pm on Sunday’s. A better way to spend the hours prior to breaking the doors down at the Croc! There are lots of places to eat there. Just a suggestion since I am the local host, ha! Good times for sure!

Joanie I am so sorry to read about your accident on the treadmill. I have been gone about a month so I am not sure when it happened but I hope you are healing OK. I myself spend alot of time on my treadmill and some of my runs are hours long so I am paying zero attention by hour 3 or so and I know how easy it is to get distracted. Especially with David’s music playing in the background, lol!

Kimk I went to Tampa AI tour with my daughter my hubby didn’t give me a hard time then. But we had a rough time on the road due to the hurricane. We were half hour late getting to the venue. 446 VaJd just got tickets too it was supposed ti be 125 for 5 people it charge 174 and change not bad to take a family of 5 to the concert especiallly if you have wonderful parents to help you I freaked out when you had to do those letter typing things for verification because they were all stacked on top of each other and I couldn’t see them but we got it

Curtis is the 24 y/o young man who works next to me all day and has to listen the THE CD all the way throuhg at least twice each day. Says he’s not a fan but has been spotted bopping out to the songs and has been heard singing along at times! Even told me he’ll have to download some of the songs! So funny that he dreamed about David!

JoyF They hit you up with a bunch of charhes like Convenience Charge 7.40, Building facility charge 2.00, order processing charge 5.10, and ticketfast was 2.00. TicketFast is great! They send you an email and you download the tickets right on your computer, then you print them out on your printer, and you have your tickets right away!! Mine is safely in my hand! I don’t like to take any chances, so I get them right away.

I am driving 4 hours to Lancaster and another….(well, Scott, Candy, Tom,,,,just how long does it take to get to Allentown from Lancaster…I don’t even know…lol) but anyway…..peace and Amy are are flying or driving into Pittsburgh from Mi, then 4 more hours to Lancaster with me…..then onto Allentown…… heck yes….. we are some dedicated, loving fans……. they still have no idea what David means to us….

#475 archieluver: Boise is about 3 hours closer, but I need to be able to have a seat. (annoying feet problems) It will take about 12 hours to get there from Seattle, but will take a couple of hours longer with potty and food breaks. I’m leaving on Thursday morning around 6:00 AM and should get into Idaho Falls around 8:00 PM. My grand-daughter is 18 and drives so we’ll trade off.
Am I crazy to do this…you bet. Crazy about David. I’m sure he’ll come closer to Seattle next time, but this is his SOLO concert. It’s the one I’ve been dreaming of. I just have to go.
Has the hotel been discussed/decided for VB. Somewhere I read the Westin. It would be great if we all stayed in the same place.

Huge…and there is consierable swelling, so I am thinking need to elevate my leg for a while, at least. davidafan I would love to go to Sayreville as I lived in Woodbridge for many years but I have tickets to VB and Richmond. I do have friends there I can stay with but my hub will ask me not to come back after my tour is over.
