Happy “One Year Since We First Laid Ears On David Archuleta” Day!
Who remembered it was January 22, 2008 when we were first treated to the dulcet tones (and I mean that in a completely serious way…DA defines “dulcet tones”) of Mr. David Archuleta? All crazy-haired and happy, he just entered the building, sang it like he meant it (“…waitin’ on the woorrrrlllld to cha-ee-aange”), charmed Simon, wowed Randy, turned Paula to mush, and knocked me off my couch. Watching AI 8 these last two weeks has only solidified my belief that he’s a once in a generation talent that isn’t going anywhere. There are a few people that have a voice with timbre and power like David’s. There are a few entertainers who have good looks and charisma. Everyone is special in their own way. But David Archuleta is……….spe-shul. Happy One Year Since We First Laid Ears on David Archuleta Day, everyone!

3. Gwen Stefani, What You Waiting For: David likes how she ‘put the Alice in Wonderland thing in her video’…he felt her frustration in song writing.

4. Jordin Sparks w/ Chris Brown, No Air: David thinks this is “one of the greatest songs ever.” He loves the “emotion they put in and they’re just teenagers.”
Becky’s note: John Mayer devoted an entire blog on his official site to this song. It’s fantastic.
5. Kerli, Walking on Air: David is a “big fan of Kerli and the way she stands out” and “the way she isn’t afraid to be herself.” “Both the song and the video are a little creepy but that’s what I love about it.”
6. Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, Lucky: David did not provide commentary. Looks like he was trying to squeeze in Jason Mraz where he could!

I remember sitting down to watch AI and as soon as Ryan started talking to David I said to my daughter, “Gosh, he’s so cute. . . I really hope he can sing”. David walked into the room, opened his mouth and sang WOTWTC and he forever changed my life and the life of my family as well – lol. I love David Archuleta and I love FOD! My son had a friend over today after school. His friend has a younger sister who saw David on AI and thought he was great and voted for him on the show. So I of course had to ask if they had bought his new CD yet, and his mom said no not yet. So the fanatic fan I am, I gave them one.
So we now have another happy fan girl or two, who can fangirl away listening to his music. P.S. his mother likes him too!!! So this is my Anniversary gift to David <3 a new fan or two!!! I also have donated a few Life Story Magazines to a few International fans as well, so they can fangirl or fanboy away with their friends

I’ll tell you what is just as important to me as having discovered David Archuleta, and that is having met (virtually speaking) all my BFFs right here on Fans of David! I live for the day when we all meet in person and share our love of David Archuleta with each other!
I feel like I have known and loved all of you my whole life! How can that be? One year ago we felt compelled to begin this journey with David. Some came a little later than January 22, 2008, but they would soon find us. It was meant to be.
I remain a dedicated and loving member of David’s army of fans and I will do all I can to help lift some of the burden from David and sustain him on this incredible journey, which has barely begun!

Candy, Russ and Tom) ‘The Camden Crew’…. the day we spent in Camden was one of the best days for me…we indeed had the best time… we laughed till 3am, we took silly pictures., we waited in insane lines to get our David memorabilia (and then dropped it many times on the floor by accident, ha ha) and we got our t-shirts and had David sign our CD’s, we got lost, we partied in the local McDonalds, we turned on a dime…lol…….and we got to hear the best singer of many many generations….we even got the ’stool’…. and I would do it all again in a heartbeat…… I can not wait to meet more of you guyses…

Well, that audition video shows the purity of David which has not changed one iota! The part of the video where I fell in love with David occurs at 0.38 were he says if he hasn’t recovered from vocal paralysis completely he’s recovered a ton and “he’s really happy about it”. What a positive way of talking about a potentially career-stopping event. Is he for real, I thought? Well, we all know the answer to that one.

Today we finished state English Test FOREVER!!!!! I walked out the room saying “I’m done with these test forever” It was so much like the golden ticket moment. (It was the 1st thing I thought of after saying it) That made me continue saying it all day!

Evenin’ everyone. I didn’t realize there was an anniversary to be celebrated tonight. Well, cheers, everybody! I have to admit it wasn’t until Hollywood week that I really sat up and took notice that “that kid could sing”. And he was so cute, and then we started getting little glimpses into his personality, and then he just worked his way into my heart. He is an absolute angel. And I feel honored to be a fan of his. I want always only the very best for him in whatever he does-like he is part of my family that I just haven’t met yet. Weird, huh? But I think everyone here understands that. And it has been so nice and so much fun getting to know all of you.

I don’t know if anyone mentioned this previously or not-but I heard this in the car today. Radio Disney is going to repeat David’s in studio appearance this weekend-Sat. night and Sun. afternoon.
One year ago tonight I turned on AI as I had the past 6 seasons, only this time I was truly captivated by a smile that didn’t quit, eyes that literally sparkled and Oh MY HECK, THAT VOICE! The masterplan was set in place. Little did I know that I too would begin an incredible journey along with David. I have loved every minute of all that has taken place, done things I would never have dreamed of doing and landed in the funnest place on earth, FOD! How does one say THANK YOU to David and all of you for one of the best years of my life!! It truly has been incredible and as the song says ” We have only just begun!” HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DAVID AND ALL OF MY FOD FAMILY!

205/Hey JeffR – I honestly will never forget that night….I’ve been watching Idol since the finale of season 1…I know, a little late to the game that season…..so I knew what to expect. When David sang that night, I remember thinking, ‘wow, I need to remember his name….he’s really good’. I went to work the next day and was talking with a friend of mine (we always dissect Idol the next day) and asked him…’did you see that 16 yr. old…he was really good!’…and then when I heard ‘Heaven’, I thought I’d died and GONE to Heaven!…..those were my first impressions….
WOW – Amazing – people just were asking about Candy and Jeff and then they magically appear!
Becky – love your “defines dulcet tones.” Does he ever! That is why no matter what comes out of his mouth, i love it.
pastel 68 – you really do have to love his positive outlook. Another thing that struck me the first time I saw him audition was at the end Simon says something about it being a great choice of song and that he really liked that. Then David says. “yeah, me too.” It seemed to me Simon meant he really liked David’s version of the song; but David, being so humble, didn’t just assume “oh, Simon really liked me”, he assumed that Simon loved the song itself.

WAITING ON THE WORLD TO CHANGE
For 16 year old David Archuleta it’s been an emotional road just getting here.
David: A few years ago I had this vocal paralysis “It was giving me a hard time, just talking even, but it was getting really bad and we went to an ear nose and throat doctor, he noticed that one of my vocal chords wasn’t moving, and it was a paralyzed vocal chord. They said I could have surgery if I wanted to but they said that was way risky and I didn’t really want to take the risk cause I want to SING you know” (Ryan: How do you stand now, you feel like you’ve recovered?) “Yea, I think I’ve, if I haven’t recovered all the way I’ve recovered a ton, so..I’m really happy about it.”
Paula: How did you get vocal paralysis?
David: I think I just got sick one time really bad with like bronchitis. It was only partially paralyzed, like one of them, and it was hard to talk for like a long time, and sing, like I’d get really worn out and then I’d be like uhhhggg hahaa.
Randy: But you’re better now?
David: Yea, yea!
Randy: All right, so lets do it, whatcha gonna sing man?
David: I’m going to sing “Waiting on the World to Change” by John Mayer.
Randy: Go for it…
David sings…….(Randy joins in, Paula’s grooving, and Simon is smiling, observing intently, thinking to himself “FINALLY, a rose among the thorns!”)

Randy: Ahh I actually think man, all things considered, you have an actually really good voice…I was impressed…16. (David: Thank you) I thought you sounded good. I heard no signs of any vocal whatever paralysisms, it was great!
David: Thank you! (with that David smile)
Paula: I think you have a nice tone, mature for your young age, and you’re a sweetheart. I think you’re talented. (David humbly still with that smile: thank you) You’re welcome.
Simon (with earnest sincerity): David I have to say I agree with Paula and Randy, I thought it was a great choice of song by the way. (ah thank you!) Really like that. (David: ah, me too, so (with a bigger smile)) Okay Randy, yes or no –
Randy: (note: Paula is grinning ear to ear, but David has that effect on people doesn’t he) Hundred MILLION percent yes dude, I love you. (David smiling: ahh thanks)

Simon: Alright, that’s a no from Paula, it’s a yes from me, two yeses!

It’s so hard to believe that so much has happened in 12 months!! We’re here loving, promoting , and celebrating David, we’ve found great new friends in eachother, David remains a fantasically talented and beautiful (in every way even better) 18 yr old who sings for us, blogs for us, vlogs for us, motivates us, and continues to take our breath away as he’s taken flight and living his dream!! Excuse my manners, Hello Everyone!
One year ago I could never have imagined I’d be the person I am today and it’s all because of David. I was casually watching AI because my daughter was. Bam! That voice, that smile hit me hard. I was hooked. Throughout the season I looked forward to Tues. and Wed. nights with almost a physical yearning. I was nervous for David when he performed. He had to do well because I didn’t want him to go home. It was a very emotional 6 months. I was sad at the final outcome, but now I see it is really the best for David. Then I went to an AI concert and met the buses. Hearing David live was astounding. I needed more. I traveled hours and miles to 2 more concerts. Never before would I have driven across desolate Indiana for 3 hours to a concert and back, alone.
I also found FOD! What a blessing. The friends I have made are wonderful. I have even met some in person, on a whim. One a Canadian and one a Floridian.
I long to meet more of you in person.
My love of music was rekindled because of David. I no longer listen to talk radio, only music. I have bought more cds in the last year than in the previous 5. I really LISTEN to the music and pay attention to lyrics.
I am more tech savvy because of David. I found Youtube, I now have an Ipod, I can upload photos, and the day I got my first avatar I did a victory dance.
I have always been a cheerful person, but because of David’s character and his example I am now even more cheerful and happy all the time. He has made such a difference in my life and I thank God for putting him in my path.
I am looking forward to the next year so much. I hope it is filled with David’s voice on the radio, tv, and at concerts. I am planning to travel far and wide to hear him live. I also look forward to spending the year with all of you. I treasure this past year and I look forward to the future.

Everytime I watch his audition tears swell up in my eyes. I never dreamed I would love and care for him so much. Like a motherly love…….But I knew from the first moment I laid eyes on him that he would be the one. I never voted before David but I voted until the voting closed from 2 phones every single week for this young man. He came with the sweetness and he left with the same sweetness and he still has that same sweetness…..he will never change except mature. He will always be our SWEET David. I actually told my daughter after he got through with his audition that he was going to win…..and he would have but I won’t get into all of that lol.

My teaching assistant was reading my copy of Square Magazine today about David and was just so impressed with him getting his eagle scout in the middle of everything else he had going on. I to, am so grateful David entered my life when he did. Actually, it happened twice. I was a huge fan of his when he was on Star Search. But, it was hard to find out what happened to him because I didnt have a computer & we didnt have internet access at work, so I didnt know what happened to him. Then I happened to flip to American Idol last year & saw someone on TV that looked sort of familiar. I said to myself, hmmmm(I talk to myself alot, who else really listens,lol) I think I know that kid. Then they said his name & I thought, the soul man from Utah(thats what Arsenio called him), thats David Archuleta. From then on, I was glued to the set every week to watch. I voted like crazy for him. Oh, & to learn what happened to his voice & thats why I never heard from him for so long. I hope all his dreams come true in his career as well as his personal life. He has such an incredible gift he shares with us openly, honestly & with love. It’s been a tough 3 years for me personally & David came back into my life just when I needed him to. That is a gift I can never repay, but will treasure for always. I will always support him any way I can. I look forward with great anticipation the wonderful music you will grace the world with in the future. Thank You David, from the bottom of my heart!!!
