I too wanted to take a second to say welcome to Vox and Andrew! They are funny and smart and they only had to pay me 20 bucks to say that! Awwwww…no………………I’d have said it for $10.
We’re lucky to have them on the FOD team and it will be fun to see what insight they can give into being a male Archie. They do exist and are only growing in numbers! And I’ll piggyback on Jenny’s comments from this morning. Everyone is welcome here at FOD. Using the Top 40 chart as an example:
41: Chart position last week
40: Chart position this week

Crush: The best dang pop song of 2008
980: Spins last week
986: Spins in the last 7 days
-6: The bullet. This is simply the number difference between the spins the week before and the spins last week. For this example, his bullet is said to be negative and showing a downward trend.
6.214: Audience Impression (AI). This is an estimate of how many people heard the song in the past 7 days. Here, 6.214 million. This is based on how many spins the song received and where the song was played. Playing Crush in Knoxville, TN is not going to make as big of an “impact” as playing it in Los Angeles.
So let’s look at Crush’s #’s here. For Top 40 and Hot AC, he has negative bullets, but his rank either improved or stayed the same. This can indicate a number of things. During the holidays, the majority of songs take a hit as stations play holiday music, end of the year countdowns, etc. An overall downturn in the older songs can keep the song steady in terms of chart position.
Take a look at AC, though! Crush is picking up steam. “This Crush aint’ goin’”….no, I won’t. I’ll resist…

Be sure to visit your local radio station website’s “video on demand” section. It seems as though ALTNOY is just about everywhere. Stream it from there once or twice per day to show some demand!
Calling all college (aged) fans!
Remember these crazy girls?
They are in college. Yes…David makes EVERYONE do silly things.
I’ve been chatting with them via email about what David needs to do to break further into that demographic. I’m not sure where this rates in importance for David right now, but all of these promotion, marketing and industry machinations are FASCINATING. I went to the University of Georgia, located in Athens, GA. It was an amazing music city. We had huge artists come play small venues as favors to their “friends.” I saw REM with 100 other people during the height of their popularity in the early 90’s. I saw Dave Matthews at a 500 seat theater. The B-52’s, Edwin McCain, Soundgarden and on and on and on…it was a great experience and even better exposure for the artist.
All of that to say….I want to hear from you, college-aged students. I want the good, the bad and the ugly. Does David have a hope and a prayer right now with your demographic? Should he even try right now? If so, what could he do to break through just a bit and gain some 20-something fans (read: fans who spend money on music)? Give me unique ideas. What is it like to be an Archie fan in college? Are you in the closet or did you tell your entire dorm that you were going to the AI concert stop in Atlanta whilst wearing your homemade David Archuleta t-shirt to the dining hall?

Just wanted to say in regards to Open House Party, please be patient and don’t request ALTNOY.. I know you’re meaning well when you do so, and you’re only trying to help the song, but having OHP spins this early *could hurt ALTNOY*.. It is not at the stage where it can handle erratic changes in spins every week, not by a long shot.. The same thing happened to crush, where it became dependent on OHP spins too early in its lifetime and we had to stress over the song getting three spins every week or else it loses spins.
Crush on OHP for now, patience for ALTNOY

Just chiming in to agree with Nate and frogcooke. Please request Crush instead of ALTNOY at OHP tonight. It is definitely too early and not stable enough to withstand the differences in spins each weekend if not played a certain number of times. It would probably be best to wait until its at least in the top 40. Thanks!

We just dont want to get too ahead of our selves and get crazy on the requesting thing. Ya know?
Right now ALTNOY is in the 70’s and OHP spin gives it about 25 spins per time its played. We dont want to have them play it this week then ot next week and have a big drop in spins, since it isnt gettin tons of spins right now. That kind of erratic spin gains and losses is not a good idea at this point. Especially since its only just started getting spins. Its not healthy for the song.
I think we all want the same thing! David to do awesome! Cause he sure is so I am up for whatever! I will send out a request for Crush right now. By the way when I request things I do both alternating? Wonder if that is a boo boo too?

Josie, I think its because they may not have played in in a while. They use the mediabase request list and I think they automatically add and take off songs. Some of the stations that played the Fox All Access show last week end, had TMH added to their request list.

Scott, its just a bit more safer to request once a station has added it thats all. We dont want to run off any stations with too many requests before a station is even playing it. Just looks like too much fan requesting and swamping stations. Thats the main reason for it. Some stations probably wont play it. lol trufax. Some didnt play crush. not much you can do about that. But you can request at your local stations that DO play it.

The TMH issue was from the Fox all access program playing it last week end. Someone called in and asked to play another song on his album and the dj picked TMH. Because it got played on some stations. A few mediabase request list automatically added it to the list because it was played. Some stations had played it a few times before the singles got switched.. so…
Mediabase request list doesnt mean a station has officially added or dropped a song.
lol kind of sounds like The Abbot and Costello bit. Who’s on first? No he’s on third thing? I think it is a good idea to request ALTNOY on the station if they are playing it no? That makes sense to me. How about Disney? They play ALTNOY?

In regard to your question about knowing if a station has ALTNOY added to the playlist… the Mediabase Add Chart is the tool that list all stations that have added ALTNOY…. it can be monitored weekly to gather that info… for those wanting to keep up with it, I can and will include a link to it when I forward the updated info to Becky… or if you are calling the station to request, it may not hurt to just ask if ALTNOY has been added…. it’s worth a shot

I’m getting frustrated with my radio station here because I have not heard ALTNOY yet but I did here Crush this afternoon. I remember when Crush first came out in August though, it took a while for them to play it here too- I really didn’t here it play here until September. After that they played it a lot and it was no. 1 on the Kiss 10 at 10 for weeks! So, I’ll continue to wait patiently… sigh!

Hey GG. I did exactly that with the program director: I asked if ATLNOY has been added, and, if not, when it would be added. There has been some interesting silence. Given this station has been very pro-David, I think there is a method to the madness. So, no fanaticism is necessary, just patience. We are going to keep ALTNOY on these playlists for a very long time so no need to rush.

I was watching Idol rewind this afternoon, season 4, recapping the last couple episodes with Fantasia. Now that I’ve seen her outside of AI7 finale appearance, I can sorta see how she got to be the winner. Although, on her final night Simon did say to her after her first song, “It’s a good thing you have 3 songs to sing tonight”. It did not go well, then she pulled it out.
