An FOD reader who is a manager at a Build-a-Bear Workshop location, gave me this head’s up that almost can’t be believed. For those of you who don’t know, Build-a-Bear is a chain of mall-based stores that allows children (and grown-up children) to choose from a variety of un-stuffed animals, stuff them in the store, add a heart, and then dress them. Your animal gets a birth certificate and shopping for the stuffed animal is more fun than shopping for yourself. My young son has a BAB monkey that wears a Georgia Bulldog shirt…because I couldn’t resist.
All store managers received an email that gave the following (paraphrased) information. OMGosh…this is crazy…
Build-a-Bear have given away more than $20 million-with-an-M to charitable organizations, including those that support families, children and animals. This year, they are going to release their own song, recorded over the year by several recording artists. The song is entitled “Let’s Talk About Love.”
The first such ARTIST to record and release “Let’s Talk About Love” is……….drumroll……..David Archuleta!!
WHAT? A NEW SONG!!!??? I’m shouting…terribly sorry. I have confirmed that this will occur, although the song may or may not have been recorded yet.
DYING! Who’s passed out? Who has played their album and bonus tracks so many times that you might…MIGHT…be longing for something new from David ALREADY? What else can explain the fact that I bit my husband’s head clean off the other day when he dared to close my YouTube window with the Inaugural Star Spangled Banner queued up?

Single Review: David Archuleta – Crush

So I think I had better start by saying that as a fan of metal / rock and the occasional bout of ‘emo’ music; I was slightly dubious about the latest R n B offering, especially when it came in a 17-year old package!
However as the runner-up in the US’s American Idol
and being listed in second place on Forbes List of Breakout Stars of 2008, there’s little surprise that this track really changed my mind. Woo!
I’m usually a little wary about people who have been churned out of talent shows, because more often than not, they are just the best of a bad bunch; with the obvious exception of Leona Lewis, Jennifer Husdon and Kelly Clarkson. And now of course, David Archuleta.
If you weren’t lucky enough to watch some of his heart stopping performances on American Idol, then you will be happy to know the song has slow-grinding verses mixed with a chorus which has your feet heading right for the dance floor and your ’come to bed’ eyes wandering for the best looking guy in the room.
If you take all the talent from the boy bands of the past few years – Blue, N’Sync or Backstreet Boys combine it with a more edgy sound and a super hot man, David Archuleta’s Crush is what I’m pretty sure you’d end up at.
What’s more, I can hardly believe that this heartfelt, catchy song is coming from a boy of just seventeen years old; and if this is what he’s bringing out at his age, I have little doubt that he is going to grow into mind-blowing tracks in no time at all.
An absolutely mind-blowing debut single from a real American Idol…. Well one in the making at least.

First, my new boyfriend is Priestly, the morning drive DJ on XM 20 on 20. I started dating him when he was so good to David and Crush WAY back in August. I called him every week and he was very sweet to me. He didn’t know we were dating, but we were. I kinda broke up with him when he started gushing over Jesse McCartney or Katy Perry or T.I. or whoever…He doesn’t know we broke up, but we did.
Today while I was driving VERY early, he played “Crush” on 20 on 20. Before David’s dulcet tones started “I hung up, the phone, tonight…” Priestly said, “Before the 9 o’clock hour I WILL be playing David’s new single. Stay tuned.” AHHH! So I’m dating Priestly again. He doesn’t know it, but we are.
Here’s where I need my Archie’s. Priestly is being moved to the 9 a.m. to noon shift and isn’t crazy about it. A big-time morning drive team is coming in. While you’re calling XM at 866-553-2020 to request ALTNOY, also leave a message that you’ll support Priestly on his move and will miss him on your drive to school or work. I’m serious. Goodwill toward DJ’s is a good thing. He’s a good guy who knows talent.

Hi Everyone…just shoveled a ton of snow so I’m so happy to get warm and cozy inside with all of you….you know what I mean!
I agree completely with Becky that we also need to get warm and cozy with our local DJ’s. After much requesting by many Toronto fans, ChumFM, that station that brought David to Toronto and sold out their annual breakfast because of his appearance in a matter of hours, still does not have ALTNOY in their line up. However, I now have a new DJ friend (who loves my name…I didn’t have the heart to tell her the truth) who is going to investigate and find out why. She also gave the direct number to the program director. Be nice and good things will come!

Well, after that performance, I feel compelled to do a recap. Feel free to read and re-read the judges comments over and over. Memorize them if you’d like (not that you haven’t already
LONG AND WINDING ROAD
David: There’ve been so many memorable moments here already on the show. Some have been amazing, like being able to sing Imagine……some of the not so good moments like forgetting your lyrics in front of like 30 million people…..the first thing I thought was….’Dang It”….but you know, its just like, well you have to keep going, there’s nothing you can do about it anymore. You’re here in the top 12 and even though you just messed up really bad in front of millions of people, you just, you always have to concentrate on the positive side of everything. When I found out we were doing Beatles I was like, well GREAT, maybe I’ll be able to prove that I can do a Beatles song well. I’m going to be singing the Long and Winding Road, it was written by Paul McCartney, and it was the last No. 1 song for the Beatles. Hopefully I’ll remember all my words tonight, you know, it doesn’t look too good when you don’t, so, hopefully that will be a thing of the past from me from now on.
Randy: Jooohhh, ahh check it out David! Oh oh, David check it out baby. They’re right to clap cause David Archuleta’s brought the hotness back to his game tonight with that right THERE! Verry nice though man, very nice!
Paula: This probably for me is the most exciting and wonderful performance because the purity of who you are and what your sound is is very identifiable, and the fact that you can rise above adversity, come back strong, that challenge doesn’t build character, it reveals your character, and, you’re wonderful.
Simon: Okay. David, last week was a complete mess. This week I thought you were….amazing. You absolutely…you made my point what I was trying to say on the previous contestant which is it is so important that A you sell a song and B that you remember a performance, and that was a master class.

In Atlanta, I had the privilege of sitting in on a conversation with Jeff after David’s performance. I found and posted this article (excerpt) on yesterday’s post and I would like to post this again because I have a mixed feeling on this review. The writer is more of a Cook fan (I’M NOT but he’s good though) but hey, I’ll take it!

“…Last season’s American Idol ended in the battle between two Davids. One, who emerged the winner, was the charismatic rocker David Cook…The other one was David Archuleta, a kid who might have given AI it’s very first tween idol and an excellent rival to the Jonas boys. You know, the adorable type who sings ditties like Crush and whom those 10-year-old girls scream for.
Crush is indeed the title of Archuleta’s first single out of his first CD, also titled David Archuleta. This boy can sing and could be another Josh Groban. Remember his rendition of Heaven during the contest. But because he is teen idol material, he has to be promoting something cute like Crush.
Anyway, Archuleta does the song well and he gets to strut his real stuff in the other cuts. His version of Robbie William’s classic Angels is particularly moving and the sweet heartache tune To Be With You certainly shows that he would have also been a great choice for an American Idol. The other songs included are Touch My Hand, Barriers, My Hands, A Little Too Not Over You, You Can, Running, Desperate, Don’t Let Go and Your Eyes Don’t Lie…”
She then goes all praise to Cook, his album, his song-writing and why our Golden Boy did not win over him. *cough*
I do respect her review but she could have done a little more research on Mr. David Archuleta, his true singing prowess, his song-writing skills and his many outstanding, memorable, best performances on AI (Imagine, Shop Around, The Long and Winding Road, When You Believe, Longer, And So It Goes, Smokey Mountain Memories, Love Me Tender, Another Day In Paradise, Stand By Me, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me just to name a few Ma’am).
A Filipino writer who really “gets” our David, please?
I did notice that David sang LAWR really beautifully but I also noticed the wonderful way he looked for the first time. Must of been the big screen. Yowza!

Hi Pastel! Yes, actually an ice day here. The school district thought it was too dangerous for the kids to be walking with it so icy out. I was glad because ice really scares me even more than snow. Actually, I was already dressed and getting my breakfast when the radio announced that schools were closed in the city. I did a happy dance, got back in my pajamas and went back to bed! ( It was only 6am!)

418/Russ…I’m soo glad I posted it! It makes me cry every time I watch it. It amazes me the sacrifice both Lupe and Jeff make for David and his amazing talent. I truly admire them both. It has to be incredibly hard on the two of them and the entire family and the wonderful thing about it too is that David gets that and so obviously appreciates it from all of his family. I just love that whole family.

424/sgj: I’m still amazed at how much David has matured since the beginning of Idol!…not just physically, but in all ways!…he just oozes self confidence now, especially on stage! I was watching the Idol re-run episode (believe it was top 12 results)..Katherine McPhee performed “Something” and it was real good, but I was mostly watching for David in the background to see what he thought of the performance…love watching his reactions!

Hi everyone – I felt compelled to make a comment after reading the posts from earlier today, mainly Joanie’s and a few others’ comments towards archieluver, an obviously younger fan who had a day off from school today.
Your conduct was absolutely appalling. I understand this is a group of older fans, so it is a real shame to find that maturity & hospitality apparently decrease with age. You may think you’re better, more interesting people than girls like archieluver, but you failed to show a shred of kindness or respect this morning. She put herself out there and did her best to get involved in your conversation, and even after being told to LEAVE in a shockingly rude manner, she never stopped being sweet to you all. I wonder who David would like better as a person.
I’ll just finish off by expressing my extreme disappointment that it is obvious that, at the end of the day, David has done nothing to influence the behavior of certain fans. Whatever happened to asking yourselves what David would do?

Watching Lupe cry at David’s performance was very, very emotional, especially given David’s journey since this time, and all the support she continued to provide since that time. I have just about bitten my tongue off trying to hold my peace…. just brace yourself for ANYTHING in the next couple of days….. all I will say is FOD is on a lot of people’s radar over the internet, and we may be faced with stuff we’re not used to dealing with…. when my first inclination is to say bad words, I have to walk outside and cool off – cause I don’t have time to go there anymore…. hang tight, hang tough, hang together…. give me another moment to clear my head

Rachel – It’s very difficult to know what your agenda is since we don’t know you….has nothing to do with your being a David Archuleta fan. You have to know that when you personally attack a regular poster on this site without any apparent provocation, those of us who know each other are going to react. Again, I’m not sure you see the whole picture and again, I’m not getting into it here. I believe this entire conversation to be inappropriate.

#530 Roxanne…I live in lovely Toronto Canada. My husband builds the rink every year for my son, although some years it is used more than others. It used to be a half dozen little NHL-wannabe’s could skate on it. Now, you can barely get 3 or 4 bigger 16 year olds, and they run out of room. The boys can’t go terribly fast, or they’d plummet down the ravine haha.
Of course you can be David’s skating coach. Next time you see him, let him know to take up my offer of a skate and to bring you with him haha. I don’t think David skates, does he? That means you’d have to spend EXTRA time with him, and I’d be in charge of the cocoa.
