A Plea From David’s Lost Cell Phone

Gosh, I can’t believe how dumb I am. I used to live a charmed life but now I’m slowly wasting away in a lost and found box in Vancouver Canada. I guess I’d better got my story out before my battery dies or I’ll be forgotten forever. It’s my fault I’m here, I should have gone with my owner to Orlando Florida but I got curious on the plane and hopped out of his pocket to do some exploring. I hadn’t gone very far when I slipped down between the seats and got stuck. I tried and tried to wiggle out but it was no use. Unfortunately my owner didn’t know I was there and got off the plane without me. I waited and hoped that he would come back for me but he never did. Finally a flight attendant found me and I ended up in this box in the airport while my owner went to Florida (I’m really envious that he got to go to Orlando before me too!).
Gee, I really miss my owner too. He always kept me fully charged and he really knew how to push my buttons haha. I miss him talking into me with that sweet nuttery buttery breath and those well moisturized chapsticked lips of his. I was always safe and warm in his pocket until he was ready to use me and then his breathy voice would come through me and make me happy. We used to go lots of interesting places too and he would use me to take pictures. Unfortunately his pictures never seem to come out very well but it’s not my fault I promise. I’ve been through it all with my owner. He came and picked me up at the store right after he started something called “American Idol”. He called me an “upgrade”. I don’t know what that means but it sounds pretty good. Anyway our lives have been a whirlwind ever since.
I love my owner a lot. He’s the nicest person I’ve ever heard on either end of the line. He never gets mad, he just asks questions like “gosh, why do Priscilla Presley and Lady Gaga keep calling me?”. I’m not really sure exactly what his name is though. I’ve heard him called David, Archie , Lettuce Boy, cutie, sweetie and sometimes people just scream at him. I just call him Angel Face or Angel Voice cause that’s what he is. You should hear the cool ringtones that I have. They’re songs and have names like John Mayer, Jason Mraz and Sara Bara…ok I don’t know how to spell that one haha. Anyway I can’t really say anything more because my battery is almost dead. If anyone sees my owner please tell him that I’m hear waiting for him in the lost and found box in the airport in Vancouv…..hey wait a minute….somebody claimed me but it’s not my owner…where are you taking me?…..and what the heck is Ebay?!!!

#40 GG I- I hope you don’t think I’m being annoying, but if we vote ALTNOY as the Wild Card and Crush as #2, we can’t guarantee ALTNOY will go to number #1 rather than just be added to the list for the next voting and at that point we put ALTNOY at #1 and Crush #2. If just added to the list, then we will lose Crush from the #1 spot.

Unbelievable – “how can a ‘video’ encompass perfection” – I think it has!! I’m not really a fan of music videos per se (Crush excluded, of course!) because I prefer to have my own visual images of a song, but this one of ALTNOY is absolutely perfect – for us and David! And I love that he’s wearing his ring in it. Has there been any talk of why he hasn’t worn it at the last few JBs? He should put it back on – it suits him so well………..

kimk-we did NOT stay in Camden, not it with being the murder capitol of the US! We stayed about 9 miles outside the city. All of us stayed at the same hotel which was great! We gathered in my room and laughed, talked, shared so many stories till the wee hours of dawn…behaving of course!
89/Chickee: The Michelina video still brings me to tears every time I watch it. When it first came out right at the end of tour, I was a basket case crying uncontrollably (like a baby)…I think it had something to do with the adulation coming from the audience along with the breathtaking pictures of David and the journey has been on!….stunning video!
Hi Lise! I’m sure my reasoning and strategies are different from a lot of folks here..:) I love Crush, with all my heart I do… and I feel it has the legs that will sustain it’s sales, and it’s VH1 hi ranking for weeks to come……. The fans have been ensuring that…. I personally have begun shifting the majority of my requesting/voting efforts to ALTNOY…. my thinking is it has to become the focus, and being the second, and crucial single for David, I am willing to sacrifice some votes and requests for Crush in order to give it the spotlight… so I am wildcarding ALTNOY in at #1, Crush at #2… hard hard, hard decision, but in the long run, I think it’s the best one… Totally a business and strategic decision, not one of sentiment… Crush is in my heart forever as David’s first million seller – mission accomplished on that objective.. ALTNOY needs to become the next million seller.. so it will get my WC vote on VH1 IN THE #1 slot, Crush at #2….

And that is my strategy… your views may be different – and that is OK! Our objective is getting ALTNOY on this countdown, in the highest position possible… that may include having to sacrifice Crush’s #1 slot…. hard choices, and a pity they both can’t be #1… but I plan to place ALTNOY in the #1 slot from now till the cows come home… Crush natch #2 until it is retired in about 7-8 weeks…. once Crush is retired, this decision will be a piece of cake !

It’s about the performance, but not JUST the performance. Being able to share all things David with those who admire all things David is a gift too.

#149 pastel, #173 Candy, Yes, it was wonderful meeting up with a group of friends that you’ve been chatting with for months and finally get to see in person. We were all so comfortable together because we had that Archubond. Even though David only sang Crush in Toronto it was well worth the trip to see his luminous self, hear him sing (two different places in the same day) and share it all with some amazing people who feel the same way you do. It was a great day, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat! And I imagine we will, since David loves Toronto, and got such an awesome response in Buffalo, too, right pastel??

OMG! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!! That video is something else. I love it. I love it’s innoncence. It is very in keeping with David and who he is. It shows alot of growth on his part as well. He is quite the actor. There was a time that it would be hard for me to imagine him being affectionate with someone he doesn’t know….but boy was he ever in this video. Well what can I say ? I come home after having the most amazing expierience with my FOD family in Beautiful Camden ,NJ and I’m greeted by the ALTNOY Video ! Wow! What a great video it is! I’ve only watched it once but will be going back to watch it over and over! There will be no problem getting it to #1 after seeing and hearing the reaction of the crowd last night!
I will try to write something up about the concert, though It won’t be nearly as good as Heartsong’s story. Just let me say that is was one of the greatest times I’ve ever had! Meeting everyone and putting faces with names after all these many months was great! I felt like I’ve known everyone forever. It was like visiting with family. We had such a great time together! What a great group! You guys rock! I can not wait until I get to meet more of my FOD family!
Of course the icing on the cake was seeing and hearing David sing! It is truly a magical thing! There really is no one who compares or even comes close in my book!
Yeah, WFM! Yeah ,You can! Yeah, Have yourself a merry little Christmas! I’m not sure how it’s possible but I keep becoming a bigger fan everytime I see/hear him! He truly brings us “goodness and light”

I am so excited to see the video and boy oh boy, the video turned out to be the way I predicted it (of course not exactly). If you remember during the 3rd week of November, news broke that ALTNOY will be the next single and that David’s team was soliciting ideas for the video from the fans. There was then a thread created here on FOD where we could all comment on David-isms and video concepts. I’d like to believe that my idea was kind of considered by David’s team. Here’s why: On Nov. 21, 2008 at 7:43 pm, in the FOD thread entitled “Let Me Go;” O! Canada! CHUM-FM interview; New blog post” (Posted by: Becky in Daily Front Page) I posted my comment on what the video should be like. I REALLY cannot believe the similarity of my concept to the actual video that came out!!! Please see below for my exact comment on that thread. (To be honest, I am in this exaggerated euphoric state… THUD) BTW, the lead girl in the picture is gorgeous and looks classy.
A Little Too Not Over You
(My music video concept)
1. A view of the ocean then gradually focuses on a glass beach house on a cliff. Then we see David sitting on the edge of a bed (Ok so in the actual video it was a small table but hey, they still have that bed shot in the video) looking toward the glass wall facing the ocean… (he’s wearing body fit/semi-fit white shirt with brown pants and brown leather slippers) – he looks sad and confused in this scene and the room he’s in has 2 glass walls…

2. He’s staring blankly at the glass wall and he’s reminiscing… the glass wall flashes scenes of him in a school cafeteria watching his girl (note: the glass wall will serve as the place where his memories/thoughts are revealed). He’s sitting alone but he’s secretly looking at her at the other end of the hall with another guy. The girl catches him staring at her and he immediately looks away.

3. Scene on the glass wall fades and back to David sitting on the bed where he looks at his I-Phone (it was a camera in the actual video) with him and his girl as the wallpaper. He tries to delete her number but hesitates… looks at the glass wall again

I just want to find the most effective method to get ALTNOY on the official countdown, so we can begin the usual voting… Crush – as much as we love it – has only 7-8 more weeks before it will be retired on the countdown… in my reasoning – and only my reasoning, LOL, IT HAS SERVED it’s time and purpose on the countdown… it will still remain a hi ranking song on VH1, until it’s retirement… so In my head, I’ve shifted my focus to ALTNOY… Crush has sold a million plus downloads, and will continue to sell… ALTNOY – BEING THE SECOND AND CRITICAL SINGLE, NEEDS ALL THE HEAD START IT CAN GET… MAY NOT HOLD WATER FROM A MATHEMATICAL POV, LOL…. ….. but I’m open to any suggestions …..

I understand wanting to promote ALTNOY. However, if voting it in at #1 will only hurt Crush and not really help ALTNOY more than voting it in as the wildcard at #2, then I think we still need to concentrate on voting Crush as #1.

As far as VH1 goes, I think it would be safe to keep CRUSH at #1 and test the ALTNOY waters and see where it premieres on the countdown. Whatever the case may be, we’ll need to work as a team across all fanboards so we aren’t playing tug of war w/ each others’ votes.

I have to say I was a bit more comfortable before you all discovered I am a bald grey haired guy. If you knew how much I hate pictures of myself, you would understand.
A am happy to say though, spending the weekend with Candy, Kristin, Andrea, Heartsong, Scott, JeffR, and Tom was great. They are the best bunch of people anyone could ever meet. Anytime any of you have the opportunity to spend time with other people from this site, do it. We had a really great time. And we all got to meet David if only for a short time.
And David was absolutely fantastic. He was so energetic, happy and sounded awesome. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

I posted my thoughts at #414…. there are many different ideas and opinions around the boards… I am trying to take sentiment out of the equation, and look at it as objectively as possible… Crush will be supplanted by ALTNOY… sooner rather than later…. Crush has accomplished it’s mission, and has sold extremely well, and will continue to do so… it will be retired on VH1 in 7-8 weeks, or so… which one then would seem to be the most logical choice to focus on?… hard hard decision, because our sentiment for Crush no doubt colors our decision… .. It’s David’s baby, and ours, cause it launched his mainstream pop career… when Crush is retired, this will be a piece of cake

imo that’s a good recommendation. We only have two Saturdays to end the year for Crush as #1 and put ALTNOY to #2, then proceed to #1 for ALTNOY as we hit 2009, my thought. 
I think it’s better off to focus our attention on Crush, until ALTNOY actually goes on adds. I say give Crush a few more weeks, or at lease he finish all these Jingle Shows.

When I was thinking of the concept for the video, my thought was that the video should be a cross between the videos of Rob Thomas’ Lonely No More and Toni Braxton’s Unbreak My Heart but more youthful and clean. And Voila! The Altnoy video is fantastic! I hope my creative juices won’t evaporate when they decide on the next single to release. LOL! But of it’s Desperate, hmmm… maybe a black and white video or something really dark/sepia look… the setting would be in the woods or some place where there’s a log cabin.

Hi Katheryn! How will Crush be “hurt” ? A loss in ranking? It was ranked #3 two weeks ago, and sales of the single and the album weren’t affected at all… it sold just as well when it ranked #15, in it’s debut… it’s the exposure on the countdown that has been beneficial….- great national exposure… we get hung up on being #1 because as humans, we like competition to a degree, and like to win!
If Crush stays in the Top 10 or so, I can’t see how that would have a negative effect on his sales in any way… but you’re right! We need a statistician’s or another expert opinion on numbers etc to sort that part out… I’m gonna do what we as a team agree to do – because it’s about David’s success….

Hi everyone. I just saw ALTNOY. OMG, it’s absolutely fantastic. I just love it so. Brilliant David, Jive, video director and everyone else involved. David looked so serious in the beginning, I didn’t know what to expect, hehe.

Hi SGJ…ALTNOY has been “released”…. it was “released” when the Album was released for download, and sale…. if you’re talking about the add date – that’s a different animal… that’s when the radio stations have the official OK from the label to begin adding it to the stations playlists…
